Cool, rustic/industrial interior. Enjoyed the Tire Swing hazy IPA, but especially enjoyed the steak fajita pizza. Exceptional!

I was at Masthead's can release this morning. I like their IPAs and NEIPAs but this was the worse can release / can buying experience ever. They had one guy filling orders and one guy processing the $. First you get a numbered ticket and at the same time you get color coded tickets.... one for each four pack. This is the point where you wait for hours to hand over $164. I'm not sure if they just want people there to buy their pizza and glasses of beer or what, but whatever it is, it is lame. If people want to hang out and have beer and pizza that is great, but don't hold them hostage for God's sake. Here is how a world class brewery, Treehouse Brewing in MA, does it: 1- brewery opens at specified time 2- people line up early or whenever depending how fast they want to get thru 3- Treehouse has 4-5 employees with IPADs waiting at tables inside where they scan credit cards 4- wheeled conveyers feed the cases from a storage area to the tables 5- people are given their desired qty of beer by another employee and they are gone. Lines are 200+ deep but you are in and out in no time at all. Then the patron has the option of whether to hang around and buy stuff. Anyways, I was #190 today and I noticed at this point people were leaving without beer and just leaving their tickets on tables. I personally like the beer (better than average) but can't commit half a Saturday in the future. read more

I got off work after a rough day and decided to swing by for a couple beers. I had never been here before but I've had plenty of their amazing beers. I loved the environment and everyone was happy. Beer is good, but Facebook and Instagram event posts aren't accurate when it comes to can releases. They say you can get tickets at 9:45 and then come back and get your beer. Ended up waiting in line until they opened. Super frustrating. read more

Huuuugggee! Yes this place is pretty big but more importantly every time I have been there it's been packed (in a good way) like not having an empty feel. A lively environment with many people of all groups and ages. Things you need to know: -Big picnic tables throughout and you sit yourself. -Buy food and drinks at the bar no server -The food menu is pretty much pizza but brink oven and some are pretty unique. -windows facing the street are the garage door kind and open up. We weren't expecting too much from the food when we decided to try Masthead so we were pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness level. We order 2 salads which were both amazing. Simple but really good. I was sad when mine was gone. We shared the white pizza with zucchini. Wow again! Goat cheese stuffed dates topped it all off at the end of the meal. Oh yeah, and the beer was great too, a sampler with 4 was only $10. Already thinking about the next time we can eat here. Also love the concept. You grab a menu and order at the bar when you're ready, then pick up your food by the kitchen. read more

Pros: Loved the atmosphere and the beer. All the beers I thought were very good. I especially liked the IPA and Winter Stout. I only had a slice of pizza, but it was pretty good. Definitely would need to order a couple pies as they aren't too big. I also loved the location. Hopefully it will draw more people/restaurants/bars to that side of town. I hope they have an outside patio for the summer. Tons of TV's to watch games which is awesome Cons: How you order drinks and pizza. They don't have waiters just people collecting plates and glasses. You have to go wait at the bar or in this line for beer. The line gets long and if you are in a group and have a table it can be annoying as people try to take any open spots. They need servers! Also, they need to have coke products. Sometimes a nice mixed drink is a good mix up from beer. They didn't have any coke products, but could make some cocktails. I understand it's a brewery and they want to sell their beer and focus on beer. Finally, they could open earlier than 4pm for like games and stuff. Overall, really enjoyed my time there and the drinks. I think I will be returning. read more

I would give them zero stars. Website says that they are open 1/22/22. Find a place to park and walk in the 15 degree windy weather. Finally get in to be told in the rudest way that they are closed, invite only. Sorry you have to come back at a later date. Sorry, I will never return. Great new spot! Its a 5 min walk from east 4th street. It's kind of self serve as far as food. You order at the bar (food & drinks) and they bring it out to you. The pizzas were pretty good. We had one with pepperoni and mushroom and the other one was sausage and peppers. Great vibe! read more

For a brewery that has just recently opened for business, I was very impressed by the quality of their food, craft beers, and facilities. I absolutely recommend the pepperoni pizza, brussel sprouts, chopped salad, and Manhattan. I can't wait to return! read more

Really enjoyed this place! Lots of open space which is nice for parties or large groups of people. The atmosphere their was very pleasant and just about everyone there sparked up a conversation with you and was friendly. Although I didn't get any food here, it all smelled amazing!! Their pizza kitchen is right out in the open as part of the brewery atmosphere, it was pretty cool and reminded me of MadTree Brewing in Cincinnati. The beer at Masthead is awesome. I had their Single Origin Coffee Stout and the Haunted Hayride Pumpkin Ale which reminded me more of cinnamon apples than it did pumpkin...but none the less, both beers were absolutely fantastic! read more

I went here a few times after work with friends. Most of the bartenders have an angry annoyed look on their face as soon as you walk in. I'm sure you can assume how pleasant they make your ordering experience. Also for being a brewery, I was surprised at how slim of a selection they had. So, we came here on our craft beer passport (and we failed miserably trying to get in at 2 other places). I am happy for the weight. This was at the beginning of COVID-19, so I was pleased that they had hand santizer and that it is a very open concept that allowed for social distancing. So this is a places where you order your food at the bar and pick it up at the pizza area. We got 2 pizzas and a pretzel to try. So, I will say that I loved the options on their gormet pizzas. I also enjoyed their everything pretzel for the flavor and it may have converted me on pimento cheese. (It is still not a German style pretzel which is my favorite). the pizza we got was a meat lovers type of pizza and a BBQ pork one. I was delighted that they only put onions on half so that my husband and I didn't have to fight ;-). The service was good considering, and the tables were accessible, but not the most comfortable. I also used their bathroom at one point that was clean and modern. Parking does suck because it is downtown, but there is plenty of side streets with metered parking. We did not try the beer because it is more of a dark beer and IPA place and we didn't see anything we wanted to try. read more

We went here with some friends on a Wednesday afternoon. It was not busy, and it is a large space with a sidewalk patio. You have to go and get your beers at the bar there are no servers same goes for the food. I do like the IPA I had it is smooth I believe they had 2. Not a big house beer selection I believe maybe 6. I came with a group of about six people. I think the concept is great, but most people are confused if they haven't been there before. Grab a table, figure out your order and then get in line to order. You get a buzzer and then you go get your food. It was loud in there, and the guy didn't take our order right. We ordered quite a bit, so we didn't realize they didn't enter in two of the pizzas. We had to go back and reorder once we realized. They made the extra pizzas in a hurry and they weren't as good as the first set because they rushed it. The toppings fell off as soon as we took a piece out of the pie. Overall, the atmosphere was cool. I tried a raspberry/blackberry beer which was stellar. read more

NOT DOG-FRIENDLY :(. I had seen many dogs inside Masthead previously, especially in the summer months with the windows open. These certainly didn't look like service dogs, but what do I know. We tried to bring our (well-behaved) dog in recently, and got kicked out. We ate on the patio instead, without any issue. And another worker did bring us a water bowl for our dog (thank you!). But just be aware that if the weather is bad, you're kind of out of luck here. read more

Very confusing space. You find a seat, get in line to order, get a buzzer, then serve yourself. In the time your ordering, someone will take your table. Then your buzzer goes off and you walk up to counter full of food and the cooks just take the buzzer and hope you grab the right things. Pizza was very soggy and the stuffed cherry peppers were served chilled/uncooked, which was not made clear on the menu. They have no servers but have a menu that requires them. read more

I've been here twice in the month since it's opening & am very impressed. So far I have tried the Witbier, IPA & Winter Stout. All three have excellent flavor & drinkability. I was particularly impressed by the combination of flavors brewed in the Winter Stout. The brewery is spacious with large tables has a simplistic concept of ordering your own drinks & food (particularly wood brick oven pizza). For being located in an out-of/the-way location this place is pretty amazing. They have a wide variety of beers on tap as well as some other options from other local Microbreweries which I thought was pretty cool. I had the Coffee Porter and it was excellent! This place is great for a host of reasons. One is the superb pizza. Two is the expansive selection of not only their own beers but many others as well. Three is the inventive salads that complement their pizza. And fourth is their business model that makes ordering, seating, and eating fly like clockwork. I do think they are missing the boat by not being open for breakfast. With the convenient location on the edge of downtown its a natural place to meet up before going elsewhere. Simply put, their beers are great and their food is subpar. Beer is 5 stars. Coffee Stout is probably one of the best stouts I've had anywhere and the Red IPA and IPA were both pretty good. Food is 2 stars. They have wood-fired pizza (which I loveeeeee) but their execution was poor. Crust was large and doughy and the center was flimsy and too thin. read more

Arrived at this pub on a Saturday night to give it a look. Few things of note right off the bat - parking seems to be a bit of an issue. I've never been out that way before, and found it a little hard to find parking. It's self seating and self ordering. When we first walked in it was a bit confusing what to do since there were so many folks everywhere. The bar has great televisions surrounding the bar with viewing available from most seats. We were with a group of 6, allowing us to order a variety of dishes: 1. Mushroom Pizza - White: I loved it. The mushrooms were perfect and the bake style (oven) only enhanced the flavors. 2. Eggplant Pizza - White: I thought it was pretty okay. Not my favorites, but not terrible. The eggplant isn't overwhelming, and the crust/sauce combo is pretty good. 3. Margarita Pizza - for a Pizza without cheese it tasted really, really good. I didn't think I would like it at all, but it was worth it. Light fluffy crust, and not too much sauce. 4. Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates - it wasn't bad...it was a very different mashup of flavors. You get 4 dates per order; the goat cheese is not exactly overwhelming. I say, if you're going to order this one, make sure you have someone that will split it with you. All in all, a great place, awesome food. I live in Cincinnati and surrounded by many breweries that I often visit. Love trying new beers and seeing the venues. The venue for masthead is very unique and open, also has a great feel for a hot day. The beer was not the greatest. Many had an odd taste, some very bitter. I typically don't mind bitterness but a few were over powering. Their nitro, did not feel or taste like a nitro. But their summer fest was pretty good, and their coconut one was pretty unique. It had a nice strong taste, and high alcohol content. read more

I was looking forward to visiting this establishment but was highly disappointed! If I could give this establishment a 0 star, I would! I tried to order food and the guy at the food stand pointed at the sandwiches on the stand behind him and said "either this sandwich or that". I asked to see a menu and he said "we don't have one". I asked for a manager and she immediately defended her employee. I guess the customer is always wrong here. Extremely disappointed at the customer service here. read more
