Aggie's is a fun, hip bakery and cake shop that been around for a really long time. I was excited to finally try a "cake shop" although I didn't get cake on this trip, I would try another time! There's a great seating area, a nice display of all the baked good made fresh that morning, and an opportunity to grab a cup of coffee too. I had asked the person working behind the display what their most popular baked goods were and I was met with silence and then a "everything is good." I was slightly peeved by my interaction here and didn't let it fully deter my review of the baked goods themselves. I had the apple dumpling after seeing decent reviews about it on Yelp. The pastry wasn't at all flaky or buttery but rather hard and biscuit-like. Maybe I went in with the wrong expectation of what an apple dumpling was but it wasn't what I had wanted exactly. It leaned more sweet and glaze heavy than it did cinnamon spice. Overall, would recommend checking out Aggie's for their longstanding history in the Milwaukee area. It just wasn't for me!

The driveway is also a bit inconvenient to access. This time, I remembered and decided to stop in and check out the bakery. They also have a small coffee bar with a few café tables, so you can enjoy your bakery treats with a hot beverage. How great is that? Besides my drink and bakery item, I also picked up a four-pack of cupcakes that looked excellent. They had plenty to choose from, so it was a difficult decision. They also offer some gluten-free items, and I chose a Caramel Peanut Butter Cookie that was sweet and chewy. Food: They had an amazing assortment of fresh baked goods. There was a large selection of cupcakes, bars, croissants, scones, and more. I decided on a Chocolate Chip Scone with a mocha, which turned out to be an absolutely terrific combination. The mocha had a nice balance of coffee and chocolate, along with plenty of whipped cream on top. The scone had a great texture, with just the right amount of chocolate chips for sweetness. Next time, I will ask for the mocha to be a bit hotter. Service: I received a friendly greeting and a sincere smile from the barista/server. She did a great job explaining the bakery options and served my mocha in a large china mug. She checked in to see how I liked the food and drink and was exceptionally friendly the entire time. I was also offered a sample of the Black Forest Cupcake, which was delicious. Thanks, Kathy. Atmosphere: It's a large bakery operation, and you can see into the work area, which gives the impression of a high-quality operation. The café seating area is near the entrance, with lots of natural sunlight coming through the windows. I was the only customer there at the time, so it was very quiet and relaxing. The first event that occurred was when I went to Jen's to simply grab a few pieces of candy because I didn't have too much change on me. I grabbed some stuff and a few pieces I got were a bit over the amount I had. Instead of kindly saying that an older woman that's always at the register told me,"If you know you don't have enough money don't bring all of this up here" I found it rude but I assumed she had a bad day. The second interaction happened today. I came in with a few cents in my pocket to pay for some candy and leave like I always do I go to Jen's all the time. I pay , and I'm always nice. She followed me around , hovered over me when I tried getting what I needed , stared me down as soon as I came in , and I am an African American woman. She stared me down and when I went to the register she asked me if I had anything in my pockets when I went to ask her how much money in change I had. I was flabbergasted. She stared me up and down and made me feel unwelcome. I simply put what I already grabbed back and left. I did say,"No offense but if you're gonna think I'm stealing then I won't shop here." And I left. They're always in a rude mood when there and almost never nice. I went back later just for an explanation as that's a local store. They both said it's because they thought I put things in my pocket I told her I didn't and she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I asked why she would think that I always pay. I didn't get anything only that she thought I was stealing. I don't know if it's because I'm African American but this environment makes me feel unsafe due to the energy , the glares , and the rude comments.

This is one of (if not THE) best gluten-free bakery in Milwaukee. I've only ever done the pick up orders but I believe they do walk ins on Saturdays. Pick up orders are super easy. Menu comes out early in the week. You fill in a Google form with what you would like as well as your preferred Friday or Saturday pick up time and send it through. You pay online a few days later and then do your pick up. The menu changes every week so there are always new things to try. I've had the popovers, cookies, bread, calzones, pies, soups, and everything is gluten-free and everything is amazing! I also love that MOR partners with other local business like Anodyne and Tots on the Street. So great to see the awesome partnership. I'm back almost weekly and will continue!
