First of all, they have so many beautiful cookies and other treats. They also have breads! I love getting the rainbow cookie which is a little square three layer cake that tastes like almond with raspberry jam. Soooo good. Then, the tiramisu never misses. It's creamy and so coffee-y. I have been meaning to get over here for a while and today I finally made it but even though I have traveled the area many times I still couldn't remember ever seeing it, well I drove right past it and still didn't see it so I did a U turn and pulled into the strip mall because it has to be in here somewhere. Sure enough it's in a sliver of the strip mall with 0% street presence when you drive by. The place is small but what it has is just right with limited hot food, take and bake foods, fresh breads, deli meats, cheeses, pastas, salads, olives, cookies, and numerous sweet things. I wanted a little cross section of the place so I had the cooked sausage sandwich, take and bake calzone and one raspberry sweet treat thing from the fresh baked cooling rack, all under $10 mind you. The sausage sandwich was a mild Italian sausage on a seeded roll with green peppers and onions. My first bite was, a nice tasty/seasoned sausage on a chewy seeded roll which I liked. My second was, hot/spicy is creeping in now that the onions and green peppers were in that bite but I didn't ask for any hot topping and I don't know where it came from but I liked the kick that it had. The sweet treat raspberry something, turn over ? was good with a super flakey pastry like body with a sweet glaze on it, crap I only bought one and if I knew how good it was I would have grabbed at least 2. The take n bake fresh calzone was probably the best take n bake item that I have had from anywhere. It's ham, pepperoni and herbed ricotta cheese basically in a sealed crust. It bakes up nice and golden with a crispy and slightly chewy crust that is tastier than pizza crust with a little sweetness. There is a nice little crunch when you bite in it and then the herbed ricotta hits you and it's like man this is fresh and tasty with the ham and pepperoni that is not piled high but just right. This place is definitely a hidden gem with some good items and I'm glad that I finally got over to check them out, I can't wait to try some of the other sweet goodies. read more

Decided to stop to see what type of deli they had available. The deli case was small and I didn't see much of a selection of deli meats. To my surprise the lady said we have hot Italian sausages today. I decided to give one a try and then of coarse couldn't say no to the cannoli. They did have a nice selection of cold salads in the case so I also grabbed some antipasto. The bread used for the sausage was perfect and the peepers and onions were so full of great flavor. I could have eaten two of them. The cannoli was stuffed full with filling and the pistachio flavor seemed to stand out. Antipasto was full of ham, pepperoni, cheese, olives, and peppers. I will be back for Italian sausage sandwiches which they only serve every other Saturday. I didn't try any of the Italian cookies but they did have a nice selection available along with some Italian breads. Great little place to stop by if you're in the area. read more

Not your typical Italian bakery. While the breads are terrific, their cookies are the reason to go. If you're looking for quality Christmas cookies, like your nana made, this is the place to go. Mister Cookie himself passed away a few years ago but the kids have taken over and maintained his quality standards, he would be so very proud of them. Good things come in small packages, and this Italian bakery/deli is a prime example of that. This is one of those amazing hidden gems on the south side. While it doesn't have the variety of a lot of others bakeries or delis in the area, anything it does everything extremely well. I discovered this bakery years ago and I always visit often, even when I lived all the way across town. One of the big reasons is the chocolate covered cannoli's. I don't think I've ever tasted anything as good as a chocolate covered cannoli here. They also offer a variety of pastries, eclairs, creme horns and even slices of cheesecake. While the cheesecake isn't the best in the city, it's still great and extremely cheap, running you only a buck and some change for a regular slice. They also offer a large variety of Italian cookies which are fantastic. These are great to bring to a function or even to give as a gift to really set you apart from the crowd. They have a chewy almond cookie that's heavenly. The breads are awesome, today I left with a loaf of Italian bread and a loaf of French bread. Well worth the money. Sometimes I walk in here feeling like Tony Soprano, then I order some Gabagoo. The worker then looks at me weird and I go back to being awkward Polish guy. I don't hit the deli part all too much, but once in a while I come in on Sunday morning for the hot ham and rolls. Like most delis on the south side, they give you six free rolls with a pound of ham on Sunday's. Pair that up with some of their potato salad and it makes for an awesome lunch during the Packer's game. Come in for a visit, you won't regret it. read more

The staff was super friendly! we purchased some of their Italian Sausage and added it to out Homeade meatball and sauce for out Sunday Family Dinner. The flavor of the Sausage was amazing so delicious we have never had better Italian Sausage, also we purchased Cannoli for desert that I have to say is the best we have had also!!! included in our purchase was some of the fresh pizza dough they make. We like to make homemade pizza and are so excited to try their pizza dough!! The selection of cookies and assorted bakery and bread looked amazing too! This bakery has the best rolls a breads. It is the closest you will ever get to the old fashioned hard roll. Nice and fresh and extra crispy. I should probably tell you to stay away from the hot turnovers on Sundays. If I tell you how delicious they are there won't be any left for me! All kidding aside they are fabulous. The only problem is I can never decide which filling I like the best. I just tell them to surprise me. I was soooo sad to hear the owner passed away. He was the sweetest kindest and cutest man. I'm so surprised I'm the first to offer a review of this awesome bakery! I've been going to Scordato's with my family since I was a kid. I have many fond memories of this bakery and it still is as delicious and awesome as it was when I was younger. I'm assuming that as a result of it's location on the South side it doesn't pick up the foot traffic of say Sciortino's or Groppi, but it certainly matches them both in quality. If you don't live nearby, I can say that this place is worth the drive. The shop isn't as big as other Italian bakeries and they don't offer an enormously huge selection of Italian delicacies, but what they have is tried and true and oh so tasty. If you had to order only one thing at Scordato's, this is it: SFINGIUNI They seriously have some of the best sfingiuni I've ever had in my life. If you're not familiar with it, it's basically like a delicious equivalent of cold pizza but with so much more flavor. Growing up our family would order sheets of it for our parties--it's perfect for eating while walking around with a drink in hand. One word of caution--this stuff is delicious and they can sell out of it so be sure to come earlier in the day if you want a taste. Another important thing: ITALIAN COOKIES Now, you might be thinking "Yeah, yeah, I've had cookies before." Not like these. Sadly, a lot of bakeries lately have been buying pre-made or par-baked pastries and cookies from big companies and selling them in their stores as their own. I've watched a handful of bakeries in Milwaukee succumb to this fate as the cost of food and time increases. The cookies you'll get here at Scordato's are all made, on site, by hand. THAT ALONE IS REASON TO GIVE THEM A TRY. The process of making a few of the cookie varietals they sell can be quite time/labor intensive so to be able to get the homemade versions in person really makes this place special. Also, for various Christian holidays they have amazing seasonal Italian treats that are a great addition to any gathering. Like other Italian bakeries, they have various styles of bread, olive salads, canolis, tiramisu, pizza dough, and so forth. It has been about one month since I visited Scordato's bakery after church on Sunday. It was ALWAYS packed, you took a number and waited for service but it was worth the wait for hot ham, rolls, Italian bread and bakery plus many items in their display case. But today when I went there after church, there were only a few people in the store which caused me to wonder. I thought initially it was closed because there were so many empty parking spaces. I have frequented this place for many years and NEVER has this occurred. I started to reflect and recalled in the recent past that the owner had passed away. I am sorry for his family and express my condolences. A wonderful, hard working person who will be missed by his customers also. Naturally this has a huge impact on the store, and I am wondering after dealing with the death to his family, will they continue to operate the bakery? read more

My Italian bakery closed in February of this past year and have been looking for a replacement for my Sunday hot ham and rolls. Tried Scordato's for the first time and was it delicious. I love the ham, it is seasoned very well and the rolls are wonderful. I will get the longer rolls next time and will try some of their cookies. Only down side is that their shaved ham is not hot, just have to warm it up when you get home. Very impressed. read more

Scordato Bakery is one of the best in the city. The bakery offers a wide variety of traditional Italian cookies that are beautiful to look at and so tasty. I often bring them to gatherings and an Italian friend commented that they were the best she had ever had and asked me a lot of questions about the bakery (she had never been, but now it is the only bakery she frequents). I actually learned about it from my sister who lives in Brookfield. There have been many stories about this bakery and their expertise and absolute joy in making the cookies. They sell them in a nice presentation box for a gift with each cookie described as well as by the pound. My sister purchased one of the presentation boxes of cookies at Sendiks and served it over the holidays and knew a lot about the bakery as she worked at the Milwaukee Journal and they wrote about it several times as one of those places that is a hidden gem in Milwaukee and well worth traveling too. We live pretty close, and often pick up their bread (very tasty), ham and rolls, and something fabulous is their pizza. It has a doughy bread crust and an awesome tomato/cheese topping and they sell it by the piece. Of course the sweets are out of this world. I am told by those of the Italian community that this bakery sells some specialities that are hard to find. Well worth traveling to this bakery from any part of the city - very fresh, authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. Also, nice people who own/run the bakery. read more

I stop here on my way home from work a couple times a month and have had every Italian cookie and sweet they make. Love their eclairs, cheesecake and they have some of the best cannoli in Milwaukee. For Thanksgiving this year I ordered their pecan pie and every single person asked me where I got it. Try their fresh breads and their pizza too....just delicious!
