The donabe cooking vessel is the central item here. I long to buy one, but since I don't know much about them, I opted for the donabe cookbook (signed!) by the owner first and a stunning mortar and pestle. The service is very Japanese: very kind and grateful. We had no problem finding parking on the street. Prices seemed reasonable for the specific items. Walking in to Mickey Mouse greeting you, it's a very homely, organized, and oddly empty shop with some Middle Eastern influence. They are big on marketing for their Dubai chocolate offerings, which I did try. The lady who helped was very kind, offering us each a sample by the chocolate type we liked. As she explained how they make chocolate in the back daily, I had to inquire about popular selections and what some flavors were. Basically, they seem to focus on Dubai chocolates and have some imported goods from Lebanon. While I trust that they make chocolates daily, I have to question how much, what flavors, and what is being turned over, because the sample I ate and the chocolates I opened up later certainly had obvious chocolate bloom, and yes they were stored at an appropriate temperature and eaten on the same day. At the price these pieces were, they certainly shouldn't have chocolate bloom nor taste like old chocolate. The filling of their Dubai bar was nice, crunchy, and moist, but the exterior chocolate shell didn't really have a taste. I am fine with paying a premium for premium-tasting chocolate and often do it, but I would have preferred eating grocery store chocolate, honestly. I'm not sure what others are tasting or whether people reviewing TAWDI are actually into chocolate, but I was disappointed when I didn't enjoy these.

Ernie and the rest of the staff were super helpful. They answered all of our questions and took their time with us. We were able to touch and feel every piece and there's even a counter so you can sit down and really imagine what it would be like to have their dinnerware in your home. After we checked out a member of staff offered to help us bring our plates out to our car and he did. A proper gentleman if I do say so myself. Heath are not only top notch ceramics but also did a great job choosing a staff who are kind and helpful. Support local. It's worth the price tag. Can't wait to own more.

We had…read moreno idea what to get him, so I asked his wife FeiFei J., who made a few devastatingly practical suggestions, but also mentioned that they could use a serving bowl to go with the rest of their kitchenware. I'm also on this side of 35, so I love pretty home shit and decided this was the way to go. FeiFei told me they got their plates and bowls from Heath Ceramics, which is based in L.A. I don't know anything about ceramics, but I liked what I saw on the website and picked out a serving platter and large serving bowl in opaque white, as well as a London Plane cutting board. I placed the order online and noticed that the store was near my house, and that pick-up would save us shipping and let me see some nice ceramics in person. I got an email notification once the order arrived, and was given a two-week pick-up window. I was pleased to find the shop right next door to Urban Pet, even sharing a free parking lot (I picked up 50 pounds of dog food while I was there). The place was extremely attractive, well stocked with beautiful ceramics and other home goods. My order was ready to go, but I spent some time browsing the displays before one of the very nice staff members carried the box to my car. Matt B. and I have been considering buying new dishware, and there's a decent chance we'll copy Bret and FeiFei and get in on some Heath Ceramics.

I went there today and I feel like one of the salespeople was questioning whether or not my clearance item came From the clearance section. I had inquired as to why the same items were in the regular section and she had explained the clearance was seconds quality etc. I said ok and I got a couple of items from the clearance section but upon checking out the salesperson questioned whether one of my items came from clearance because she stated that there's supposed to be a mark on the lid and the bottom part and mine only had the mark on the lid. For a minute there I thought she was going to not let me purchase it as she seemed skeptical and accusatory. Well to that sales lady if you see this review- after I got home and removed the price tag stickers so I could wash them- the mark was under the sticker. I don't not plan to return to this store anytime soon. I'd rather buy online and avoid the hit or miss nice or not nice staff.
