Of four massages: 1) Bob showed up on time; amazing, sports massage and tipped generously; 2011-2012 2) Bob showed up mostly on time; awesome sports massage, decent tip; 2012-2013 3) Bob called to push back appointment due to traffic then called back to cancel due to traffic; no massage; 2014 4) I sought out Bob because of his experience working with athletes and I needed specific work done on my rotator cuff muscles (deep tissue, hard pressure that he has done in the past). I asked Bob to give me advanced notice if he had issues arriving on time per my previous encounter; we confirmed a time. The morning of he asks if we could move up my appointment by 4 hours and luckily I was flexible. He estimated he'd arrive within an hour and then 40 minutes later his contractor arrived for my Massage. While she was fine, I specifically needed very hard pressure otherwise I would not have booked a massage with his company. The failure to give more more than 1-4 hours notice about changing appointment times on two occasions and then not telling me he would not be providing the Massage but his contractor would is a clear disappointment and failure in communicating on his part. I was excited to explore a recurring massage with Bob for a couple of months. Unfortunately I find this business unreliable and dishonest. Will absolutely utilize more professional mobile massage services that are even on-demand like Zeel. Got an in-home massage from one of the massage therapists here and they did a great job! For the price of a regular massage, you don't have to leave your home and they bring a table, music, lotions etc. with them. My massage was high quality and they listened to what I wanted. However, the scheduling process could use some work. Sometimes they answer and sometimes they don't. Also, when you do get a hold of them, they ask you for your preferred day/time, but then have to reach out to their staff to see if anyone is willing to do it. I'd expect them to just have everyone's availability and be able to fill in the spots as people request appointments, but it doesn't seem like the case here. He arrived a few minutes early (though not inconveniently early) so he had time to get everything set up. He immediately supplied me with the paperwork I needed for insurance reasons. Bob was extremely professional and was really nice. He was very accommodating when it came to the style and pressure of the massage that I wanted. He used flannel sheets and I LOVE flannel sheets; they were much more cozy than standard cotton sheets. I bought a spa soundtrack on iTunes and turned it on just before Bob arrived not knowing if he would bring music (which he did), but I forgot to put it on repeat so it ended after 60 minutes (it was a 90 minute massage). I was about to purchase a coupon for a couple's massage off of living social but wanted to speak to Bob whether he came to my area or not before I committed. Bob recommended I not purchase the coupon and that he would honor the price (which he most definitely did). My boyfriend had never had a massage before and I thought this would be a fantastic treat. I've never had someone come to my place before so there was that added hesitation, for no good reason of course! My boyfriend and I have extremely busy schedules but Bob worked with me and accommodated us. I had Bob come by my place on Feb 9th. Once in my apt Sarah and Bob quickly set up and gave us our privacy to change as well. My apt isn't very big but they managed to make it work. The sheets were clean and very comfortable. The oils they used smelled amazing and weren't too oily. I have sensitive skin so I do get worried about breaking out from the lotions and oils. No skin issues post massage. Now for the most important part, the massage! Sarah was amazing she hit all the problem areas and then some. She applied the perfect amount of pressure. The BF loved Bob. Since he's never had a massage before he didn't have much to compare it to. He does however have a lot of back issues and Bob managed to massage a few of the troubling spots out. My Aunt was visiting from New York over Labor Day weekend and really wanted to relax. So i searched Lifebooker.com for deals and stumbled upon Mathews Mobile Massage. It was an AWESOME deal! 39 for one hour individual massage or 69 for a one hour couples massage and they come to your home!! I wanted to make sure i could get an appointment before i bought the coupon and when I called Bob said that I didn't need to purchase the coupon and that he would honor that price for me! I texted him my confirmation and everything was set for Saturday afternoon at 4pm. The next day he texted and asked if I could do an earlier appointment and I said sure so he was going to be there with his assistant at 330pm. They actually got here 30 minutes before my appointment but let me take the time to get ready since they were early. Bob and Lily came in and were very professional and friendly. They set up and asked us what kind of massages we wanted and got to work. I worked with Bob and he was AMAZING! I got the deep tissue massage i desperately needed and was soooo relaxed! My aunt said the Lily was amazing as well and she received a Swedish style massage. She defiantly pays attention to what you specifically need and want. The fact that they come to you is a major plus. I purchased a 1 hour massage via Rue La La for this in-home massage. I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did. Bob was very professional and his 1 hour deep tissue massage was the best massage I've had in Chicago. I've tried fancy spas downtown and tried student massages, but none of them were as good as Bob. Just got done with my massage Verita. WOW WOW WOW! She was very professional, and knowledgeable about how the deep tissue would effect me (this was my first deep tissue massage). She focused on the areas I needed most, and she also spend more time on certain areas than others. For example I have a lot of knots in my upper back, but more so on my right than left side. She spent a great deal of time more on my right than left side working out the knots. I was a little skeptical about having someone come to my apartment to do this, but she made me feel extremely comfortable. I agree with everyone else's reviews. I purchased a BuyWithMe deal for half off the price of an hour-long in-home couples massage by Mathews Mobile Massage as a gift for my hubby (and who am I kidding...I was looking forward to a massage also). Never having had any type of in-home massage previously, neither of us really knew what to expect. I am writing this lengthy review to let others who, like us, have no idea what this type of thing is all about. I'll begin by saying that my husband and I were both VERY pleasantly surprised with the overall Mathews Mobile Massage experience. I began by contacting Bob Mathews by phone to schedule our in-home appointment. Bob was friendly, easy to talk to, and seemed more than willing to accommodate our busy schedule. He explained the type of space needed to perform the massages and even offered to bring relaxing music. He also politely answered all of my trivial questions about what we could expect during our appointment. We initially set an appointment for a Sunday afternoon. I was surprised that there was no extra charge for scheduling a Sunday appointment. I had requested that he bring a female massage therapist along on the appointment because I knew my husband would be more comfortable getting a massage from a woman. About a week before our scheduled appointment, Bob called to let me know that there wasn't a female therapist available that day. He then offered to perform both massages back-to-back, or to bring a male therapist along. I told him we preferred to wait until a female therapist could accompany him on the appointment. Bob also offered to extend the expiration date of our BuyWithMe voucher since he was the one who needed to reschedule. We scheduled another appointment...for a Friday evening this time. The evening of our appointment, Bob called to let us know he was running a little late due to bad traffic. When he and the female therapist arrived at our home, we showed them to the space we planned to use for the massages. Though it was a little tight for both massage tables, Bob assured me that they would make it work...and they certainly did! He had health history forms for us each to complete while he and the female therapist prepared for our massages. By the time we were through filling out the paperwork, they were all set up and ready to begin. Bob and the female therapist spent several minutes consulting with each of us respectively to discuss exactly what results we hoped to obtain from the experience (general relaxation) and also explaining how the massages would be performed using a combination of Swedish and deep-tissue techniques. Then they showed us to the massage space they had created in our bedroom. They stepped out of the room while we undressed and got under the comfy sheets on their folding massage tables. They entered the room again and got to work. Bob was very attentive to my specific requests, and occasionally (without seeming overbearing) checked in with me to make sure the amount of pressure he was using was to my liking, and if I was enjoying the massage in general. I could overhear the female therapist asking my husband similar questions. It was a full hour of pure relaxation in the comfort of our very own bedroom! Following the massages, Bob and the female therapist again left the room so we could re-dress. Once we were dressed, they promptly packed up their tables. Before they left, Bob let us know about some other promotions provided by Mathews Mobile Massage (at-work chair massages and in-home chair massage parties). He also mentioned he would keep us up to date on future deals by e-mail. Even at $150 still a good deal being them coming over to your house and compare to other massage places. The massage was great pressure and through. They listen to your needs and focus on certain area when needed.
