Those are the pros. Cons, though, are significant. For $60, you expect more than an unpadded, plastic folding chair packed in shoulder to shoulder. Very uncomfortable, especially when the show started late. Speaking of times- they didn't publicize the correct end time for the concert on the website. That's a problem when you are planning on getting a ride home, and suddenly you're done over an hour early. Then there's the lighting. Bright AF and they would just randomly roll around in the fixtures, blinding the audience temporarily. It was physically uncomfortable, not just got me but for several around me. And once the show was over, security started to yell at people rudely to leave and "go talk outside". Even people finishing drinks or, like I was, waiting for my minor child to exit the restroom. (Speaking of the restroom, several of the stall doors in the women's stick.) So yeah, great sound, good artist, but I don't think I'm going to hurry back to this venue.

It is a great intimate venue with lots of history and great sound. We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... Great venue.

We thought we were so lucky by standing by the stage but then one of the workers tells us we need to move because it was cleary handicap and we did. The manager a female came to yell at me and my son along with a father who was there with his autistic son and a young lady visiting from Nashville. We were told that once show starts and no one uses space we can return to our spots. Opener came on and we moved to our spaces but then we were told only four guests had permission to stand in those areas. A lady who had shown up with her babe and the father and son. The lady got loud with me as if she was there prior to my son and I, like lady it is not that serious and I have a child! Other than the terrible experience with customer service it was an epic show. Blake Whiten even handed my son a guitar pick he used which was super awesome for his first experience at a concert!

Lots of high top tables, a decent amount of seats at the bar, and a pool table. There is also a small patio if you want to hang outside. The Maui Sugar Mill is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking available!

Most people contribute to a pot luck feast that spans the wide world of food, from hot dogs and chili to baked ziti, tacos, meatballs, fried chicken, Chinese food, and on and on -- including some amazing homemade clam chowder from Mike The Mailman. Bartender Natalie did an amazing job of handling the busy crowd with speed and smiles. There were a couple of other staffers on site to watch the game, and they jumped in when she needed a hand with this or that, but for the most part Natalie captained the bar single-handedly for the duration. Kudos to her. It's true, Super Bowl only comes once a year, so other game days don't have the pot luck feast -- Sugar Mill doesn't have a kitchen, though they're happy to have you bring in whatever food you like and eat it there. One of the bartenders even ended up being my roommate for a time (and we would dance together in the living room). It was a hard time in my life when I first went there and I've grown and become, hopefully, a much better person just from experiencing the wonderful friends I've met. I could tell so many stories, but my point is simply this: This is THE BEST bar I have ever been to in my entire life and I cannot say enough good things about it and the people who run it, the regulars, bartenders, etc. Just genuinely awesome people. Even just the other day, a couple came in and they hadn't been there before, and we were just talking and they said "This is such a nice place." It's like Cheers. I walk in the door and end up hugging like everyone before I even get my name on the pool table (they also have a really nice pool table. I've been playing for years now as a result.) The owners Big J and Dave are awesome... I'm kind of overflowing with compliments here but it's just... it's the best place. If I had to choose what I was going to do with my night, my day, whatever, just getting out, it would be The Garage. Absolutely awesome. (I'm honestly just disappointed with myself that I didn't give them a Yelp review sooner. I cannot recommend this place enough. 5 stars just doesn't cut it).
