My husband and I decided to come here on a whim since we live nearby. We love live music and jazz bars! We walked in and the place was so lively. There was already a band performing and the main stage room was full. We got in the line that had formed at the bar and it definitely took awhile to order but we had heard that the bar was very short staffed that night so we weren't bothered. I appreciated that the bartenders were still taking their time with the drinks even with the back up. We stayed and enjoyed the music from the room with the bar and our drinks were delicious. We also enjoyed pleasant conversations with other patrons, some of which are regulars and I can see why they keep coming back! Super fun, light hearted, and welcoming energy. Would love to come back and get there early to snag a table by the stage to enjoy the music closer up. Come here for amazing music, drinks, and vibes!

The jazz has always been great here but the expected change was the booze. They have the best liquor selection I have seen in Ventura and at great prices. Honestly it a jazz club but I would come just for the drinks.

Ambience, music, staff & drinks were all outta the park! My favorite cocktail was the Key Lime Pie Martini (pictured). Perfect place for family or friends to attend together.

Great jazz venue in downtown Ventura. Massive drink menu. A very good Mint Julep, properly mixed

Great jazz venue in downtown Ventura! A gem. And, a huge drink menu - they know how to properly mix a mint julep!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Excellent music, not overly crowded, and couches right next to the stage where you can drink a cocktail and listen to some of the best musicians out there? The experience really can't be beat. It's so nice to find a jazz club that's not too loud where everyone is comfy and the atmosphere is intimate. To give an idea of the vibes, the crowd is on the older side, so everyone is just chilling and having a nice time. The space has two areas: the bar and the main performance room (ticketed), and people generally aren't having conversation in the performance room but instead are just enjoying the music. My boyfriend and I dropped by to listen to Derek Frank, and we were blown away. I really recommend the place to anyone looking to appreciate fine jazz music in a chill atmosphere.

The Grape is a world class Jazz club, right here in Ventura! The ambience, decor, cocktails y vibe are top shelf. i was accustomed to driving an hour or more, to LA, to see many of the same artists who now grace the stage and intimate setting of The Grape. Now, it's practically in my backyard. They have Live music nearly 7 days a week, including. free happy hour piano and organ bar styLey. Owners Adam and Josh are affable, knowledgeable, and pour one heaven of a drink. A bonus for me, that the club lives in the shadow of the hospital where i had 7 surgeries in 2020-22. Now i get to hear incredible music that soothes my soul nearby. Step into The Grape; i guarantee you'll be back for more.

Great music from a great quartet

My wife googled 'jazz bar' and was elated to find a place with live performances. Adam the owner and his team were very accommodating and made you feel extremely welcome. 2 different bands played with different amazing sounds. Very pleasant atmosphere. I enjoyed the old fashions while my wife enjoyed the Pinot Grigio. Additionally, they now serve food from a snack menu with Paninis from the local business next door and charcuterie options that were satisfying. It was a fun relaxing night and I look for forward to seeing the atmosphere again during our next visit in town. You would be doing yourself a disservice to not check this place out.

I'm getting my tickets ready and get checked by security and my tickets were fake, which I do not blame the venue for I blame stubhub. The attendant (over weight white man with beard) was very incredibly rude. He was loudly talking about the type of people in line with his coworker, and just had a rude and off putting demeanor. I was already in tears at this point because I was looking forward to this concert and he was making me feel bad for purchasing fake tickets which wasn't my fault. After driving almost 2 hours for this concert being treated like that was insane, I asked him nicely if there was anything I could do and he didn't even look at me just said No, and looked at his phone so I broke down in tears I don't care I was frustrated very rude.

This venue brings back a lot of good memories and the theater interior is definitely cool and vintage, giving a really solid vibe and old time feel. The positives are that the security working the front always seems to be nice. They do their mandatory searches and I appreciate the effort to enforce safety. I've never minded being pat down or having bags checked, in this day and age it seems reasonable. Staff here overall are nice from the security, to the wristband guy, to the bartenders. The venue is intimate and easy to navigate once inside. I appreciate the size and that they do have seating options if you need upstairs. I'd never go up there but glad there is some separation by having two floors. They do a pretty good job of updating their website and social media accounts that I can gauge their shows way in advance which is nice and appreciated. Ticket prices are average, usually more than $30 but not too expensive. The cons are similar to what others wrote. The sound could be better for sure. Also the floors are always sticky and gross up by the bar, even if only shortly after opening. It's definitely way too hot in here. I get it's a small venue and concert goers will always feel a bit hot or stuffy but here it's always extreme to me. I really wish they would update their air systems. I always leave here unnecessarily drenched. I guess now I just chalk it up to being apart of the experience. Last room for improvement is get rid of the $20 bar minimum for debit/credit cards. I really would love to just buy one beer. Paying with a card now I always have to buy two to hold or at least buy one for a friend and then they get the next round. Not terrible but inconvenient. Most venues have gone away from taking cash post Covid and that honestly moves the crowd along faster at concerts so I do think they are a little behind the times to still be taking cash or basically punishing you that if you want to use your card you have to pay more? It's not the end of the world but every time I come here I forget and get a little annoyed that I have to dish out extra money when really I just want one beer at a time. Maybe that will change with time but if it hasn't by now post Covid, I doubt it will. Definitely this place has its pros and cons, like most music venues do. I do appreciate this place for what it is and have seen many great concerts here - so I look forward to coming back and I can overlook these little issues, but it would be nice if overtime they made some changes and took the customers feedback into consideration seeing as a lot of reviewers had similar critiques.

Unfortunately, this was by far my worst experience here. First, I want to thank the busser who helped us (a kind Latinx gentleman). He was attentive, checked on us often, and showed genuine care.. far more than our actual server, MELISSA. MELISSA provided minimal to no customer service. She took our order without any warmth, never checked on us, and didn't offer refills, everything was handled by bussers. Our food came out only slightly warm, and portions were noticeably smaller than what we've received in the past, which is disappointing given the prices. What was most concerning and difficult to ignore was the clear difference in how MELISSA treated us compared to another table seated right next to us. When a Caucasian family was seated nearby, her entire demeanor changed. She became attentive, friendly, and engaged in a way she never once did with us. The contrast was immediate and obvious. After we finished, we paid our bill in full (including a 20% tip, despite the poor service) and left calmly. As we were walking to our car, MELISSA ran after us and questioned whether we had paid. This was not only embarrassing, but deeply upsetting. There was no attempt to verify with staff first, just an immediate assumption directed at us. As a server myself, I know how situations like this should be handled, and this was not it. Being singled out and approached this way, especially after already experiencing noticeably different treatment inside the restaurant, felt like profiling and discrimination. This all took place on what was supposed to be a nice Easter breakfast with my family, which made the experience even more disappointing. I did call to speak with a manager, who seemed to listen, but the overall situation was unacceptable. I will not be returning. There are plenty of other local smaller businesses in Oxnard that treat all guests with fairness, respect, and professionalism.
