Super funky and old eclectic style Victorian style building! Great live music for a weekday. Enjoyed the piano bar 2 man band! They played my favorite song! Love love loved the music!! Also the service was decent for a busy place! This place takes the cake for classy and sassy!! was actually really clean!!

The Red Piano was Stop #3 of a pub crawl for a b'ness event I attended in Santa Barbara. Positives: The best part about this venue was the two musicians. They sang songs that everyone could connect with and sing along. They had the place rocking on a Wed night; Friendly bartenders and stiff drinks; Negatives: None I would definitely add this to a bar hopping night on this section of State St that is blocked off to car traffic.

This place was amazing. Felt like I went back in time. Lovely ambience, great atmosphere great customer service great drinks and the dude on the red piano was great very fun atmosphere thank you guys. Definitely will be back for more drinks from Orange County.

This is such a fun place. We stopped in for a Friday happy hour. It wasn't that busy, but it was lively and the bartender. Jess was super friendly and personable and took great care of us. We were just in town for a quick visit and we are so happy we came across this place. The music is great and it was a fun time. We ended up coming back on Saturday night too. It was packed and everyone was dancing and having a great time. Definitely worth stopping in if you were on State Street.

    We out here.

The Red Piano is super fun. They have talented artists, the vibe is excellent with a mix of ages, and the service is solid, even when crowded. When you go, there might be a cover, but that is helpful for the atmosphere and minimal for your pocketbook. If you get there early you can sit at the red piano, but can enjoy the show from anywhere. Prices are standard for SB. Definitely a good spot!

Spent a couple of hours hanging out with Justin and Arielle. What a great time! Justin is seriously talented and Arielle was very attentive to our needs. Drinks were perfect and we had a front row seat to the entertainment. If you're ever in the area you should swing by and sing a song with him!

Wow what a special place. We came here randomly on New Year's Eve and had a great time. Friendly service, great live music (shoutout to Ivy Alex for rocking the place) and great cocktails (manhattan and espresso martini). Perfect place to ring in the new year with a champagne toast, balloons dropping and confetti. Very memorable night.

Red Piano hoodie in my fav material.

Every time we go to Santa Barbara, we stop in one of my favorite spots, The Red Piano. We love the atmosphere here, and we come as we are. They always have something special going on, and I usually try to plan our timing so we can hang out here. I highly recommend dropping in the next time you're in Santa Barbara, or if you're local, make it a regular habit. I just got my new sweatshirt in the mail to remember all the great times we've had here until the next time we are in the area.

Ask the Community - The Red Piano

    Do they serve mocktails?

Hi Joy! Definitely! We have a whole non alcohol section on the menu and we're continuously working on developing fun new flavors!…

    Do they serve food?

No, lots of places in the neighborhood to grab food though

Are we going to have trouble getting in on a saturday night at 9:30?

My DD is 20 can they enter?

Hi Libby, Unfortunately no, everyone must be at least 21, no exceptions. Thanks for understanding

Is this place open on Wednesday nights?

We’re open 7 nights a week! And we have live music every night

    What is the age limit?

It's not a kid place, but I don't think they have an age limit. The older you all, the more welcome you are! ;-)

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

Test Pilot lands somewhere in the orbit of tiki without fully crash-landing on a bamboo runway, and…read morehonestly, that works in its favor. In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. Passionfruit forward, it's silky, sweet yet very well balanced. This location is in the heart of the Funk Zone near the pier in Santa Barbara. When we approached the location, we saw that they were only offering drinks outside on the patio- as the temps were ok on Saturday in early September, we felt ok sitting on a small patio on lounge chairs with relaxing music in the background. The patio is in the back of Cutler's that can be entered around the corner (map on the front door of Cutler's shows the directions). The patio is next to other tasting room patios featuring wine and next door to Lark's restaurant. When we visited the tasting room at about 3pm in the afternoon, we were the only individuals there but started to fill up with other small groups. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. The cocktails were well poured. I was just disappointed to find out that I could not get a Bloody Mary on a Saturday- only Sundays- the Bloody Mary looked really good. If you are done with wine, and seeking something different, come relax on the patio here if your vibe is a low key environment with solid distillery cocktails.

The crispy tuna nigiri was my favorite appetizer. Super fresh with perfectly crispy rice. We also loved the firecracker rock shrimp, which was light and crispy without being oily. We got the sauce on the side so the spice was totally manageable. But the GARLIC NOODLES!! Easily some of the best I've ever had. Buttery, garlicky, creamy and everyone at the table agreed they were amazing. The shrimp fried rice was great too, and they were able to make it non-spicy for us. We obviously did not have room for dessert, so we ordered it anyway The French vanilla crème brûlée was delicious, the green tea mochi was good once I got past the texture since it was my first mochi experience lol, and my sister said the tiramisu was the best she's ever had!
