I took my daughters to see Em Beihold at the Troubadour... it was the first time seeing a performance there, and my first time as well. It is a great intimate venue with lots of history and great sound. We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... I have seen a couple of shows at the Troubadour with both local bands and big national acts, and it is definitely a decent place for live music. While a lot of people think it is right on Sunset Boulevard, the club is actually located just down the street on Santa Monica Boulevard. The history in this room is incredible, dating all the way back to 1957 when it first opened. It is wild to stand in the same small, intimate space where Elton John made his US debut and once massive bands like Guns N' Roses got their start. Was in town for a birthday and we went out in West Hollywood on a Thursday evening and I was so excited to be by the Troubadour who I know has had so many famous and up and coming artists. Especially since BTS had their first American performance at this venue years ago o was a fan girl just being here. It looks like they have a valet parking stand and there is some street parking out front. Lights up. Queue sound. Troubadour open those doors, the show is about to start now. From 1957 to 2025/present day this historic music venue theater has housed so many greats and legends in a magnitude of way. It's been featured in many films and shows and brought so much audiophile cheer. I haven't been to the Troubadour in over a decade, so in some way stopping in to see Young Gun Silver Fox (from the UK) with opening act Great Vacation (local Los Angeles) and a awesome DJ set in-between performances by Dustin De Leon was even more epic. I mean even thee Carole King (singer, songwriter, actress, grammy winner) was there rocking out in the audience a few feet away from my boyfriend, our friend Chase and I among a few other familiar locals I knew in the crowd. The design is very cool with a designated smoking area on the side walk away from their line where they will check you thoroughly from security to ticket scan to ID. I try to keep my pockets light for show days as most venues will. Safety first. They don't allow any outside food or drink, but the prices are more than reasonable inside. Once you make your way in the main bar is to the left of the entrance, with merch tables set up for acts of the night. in the corners. You can also find the first set of restrooms here. The service is stellar and the bartenders have a lot of personality and good energy. We had a few beers/craft brews and a ranch water hard seltzer throughout the night, but they have a full bar and solid selection of beverages on draft, limited tap, limited wine. You can hang in here for a bit, seating is limited around the bar, but mellow. Lots of history on the walls, signs and decor in here. Arriving early you can make your way up to the loft and enjoy the show from here as well. They have limited seating along the balcony, an additional bar upstairs. You can see so awesome views of the street life if in the main room. The Troubadour is on the very outskirts of West Hollywood with Beverly Hills literally starting write across the street #SoLA For the first hour we found ourselves at the back bar area inside the main showroom not to far from where you order food ( a good variety of options including vegetarian and vegan eats) We had a good view of the stage for Great Vacation even as the room filled closer to YGSF extended set. They definitely gave the people what they wanted. After nearly walking off stage at the end of an incredible set we chanted and got four more songs :D I still geek out on the movie Rocket Man filming here and recreating Elton John's 1970's performance in this very space. The sound, acoustics and production here is stellar. Iconic, rustic, unforgettable. Capacity for the Troubadour is around 500, with staff and performers just to give an idea of how little big this legendary space is. Additional Restrooms in the corner of the main room near a wide staircase heading to the balcony and loft areas. Parking in the area is garage recommended or metered minding restrictions which typically end by 8pm or on Sundays don't apply. Doors typically open by 7pm for most shows, but can vary slightly (though rarely). Music is a universal truth and at the Troubadour is always rings truth. read more

I finally went to the Troubadour. This place is a historical monument in West Hollywood. I went to see one of my favorite singers, Ledsi. I had a wonderful time. It's small and quaint inside with mostly standing room, but if you get there early, you can find a few seats. The only flaw was, that I didn't like how they have the snack bar that's right near the bar area which is kind of hard to maneuver around because people are either standing in your way, or in the aisle. Otherwise, the food was good. The service was great and I had a great time. I'm glad I got to experience the Troubadour--easy parking on the street or valet parking. read more

The Troubadour is what you hear about in legends of LA. I've been several times now and always enjoy hearing artists I love at such a small, intimate venue. Troubadour is perfectly placed on the border of WeHo & Beverly Hills so convenience getting here is great for all in the city. The parking is another animal though, I always take Waymo! Don't drink and drive kids. :) There are a ton of great eats all around, including Dan Tana's next door and a cool dispensary lounge Artist Tree in case you need some pre-concert imbibing. They also serve food here! If you sit upstairs, a server even comes around to ask for orders which feels very VIP. Open since 1957, I would max out the character count of this review if I listed only my favorites who have performed over the years at this monumental location. So let me let you know of some iconic moments here: ~In 1962, Lenny Bruce was arrested here for saying "Shmuck" on stage...my goodness if they only knew how vulgar our standup gets now! ~In 1970, a young Elton John played his first show, introduced by Neil Diamond. ~In 1974, Ringo & John got kicked out for heckling the Smothers Brothers. ~In the 1980s, Guns N' Roses were DISCOVERED here. ~In 2025, Yelp LA OCA Sarah S. saw Medium Build & many others at a fundraiser for the LA Wildfires. Hilary Duff sat in front of her, drunkenly swaying and having an amazing night with her friends as her hubby played in the band. They raised almost 50k~!!!! How lucky are we, that we can listen to live music of amazing artists in such an intimate and historical spot in WeHo!? Music buffs should give it a go knowing if you see an artist here, it's going to be intimate with great sound quality, plus it might end up being the best show you've ever been to. Troubadour is a legendary venue located in West Hollywood. It has helped launch some of the most famous performers in history such as Elton John, James Taylor, and Tom Waits. It's a smaller more intimate venue so you get up and close with the artists. There was a bar in the front of the venue as well as another on the inside on the first floor. There was also a second floor which gave a better vantage point of the stage but it was reserved for VIP. It was also mostly standing room only so be prepared to stand for long periods of time. Finally made it to The Troubadour, and my only regret is not getting here sooner! This place is legendary, and now I get the hype. Caught Joy Oladokun here, and while the acoustics started off a little wonky (felt like my ears were in a funhouse for a minute), they dialed it in, and then--pure magic. The vibe? Old-school cool. Dark wood, intimate setting, and bars that don't require a Hunger Games-level battle to reach. No giant screens, no overpriced VIP nonsense--just raw, unfiltered music history. Parking in West Hollywood is still a cruel joke, but honestly, it's worth the struggle. If you love live music, this is a must. I hate to admit it, but I haven't been back here since my hubby opened for Vonda Sheppard! What a great venue to see a show. Very small and intimate but they can back em in! The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a separate bar to your left when you walk in that has some seats. You can hear the show and watch it on the screens if you prefer. Otherwise it's mostly standing room only. I believe the seats up in the balcony are more expensive and given to a few VIP's. There is a second bar in the back across from the stage. We were standing right at the stage so we had no obstacles in our way while listening to Shawn Colvin & KT Tunstall. They were amazing together and so funny! The room was packed but our fellow music lovers could not have been nicer. *The restrooms are located in the front bar and in the way back past the bar in the main room. *There was a long line when we arrived just after the doors opened but it moved quickly. *They offer Valet parking *Plenty of street parking (just read the signs and you may have to park a bit further away from the venue. *NO Food is served here. Disclaimer: this review is not about the venue yet as we are still in line outside. This is for some people who think they can get ahead of others by cutting in the line... When cutting in line is not cool... I don't really sweat the small stuff but this is just not right. The email says doors open at 7pm. It's 59degrees and several of us arrived at around 515ish to line up and brave the cold weather. When suddenly 2 guys came to have a "small talk"with people in the front and asked "is it worth to wait in line? It's the Vertical Horizon. They have not had a concert in Europe" and then they're now cutting the line and forced to chit chat until the doors open. Well it its worth to wait in line, respect the people who have lined up ahead of you. Because cutting lines is not cool! Where's the etiquette in watching concerts??? The Troubadour is a quaint venue with a bar up top and one on the bottom floor. There is bench seating up top and one too with a direct view of the stage and a VIP section that is up top but on the side. There is a bar up top on the side that has about a half dozen seats that you can look out a glass area. The downstairs is standing only but with a good view of the performance. The sound system and lighting are great. The Valet parking behind the venue is a bit suspect. I paid $30 and noticed later that there was a sign in the stand that showed $25 so it is unclear. We had VIP tickets at Will Call as guests of the Headliner. It didn't make sense. We were told to get in line with all of the General Admission ticket holders to get our tickets from Will Call and after getting our tickets to go to the end of the line. It seems you should be able to get your tickets first in a Will Call line and then get in the regular line to enter the venue. Getting in line with everyone to get Will Call tickets and then going to the everyone line again doesn't make sense. Overall the Troubadour is a nice venue for live performances with drinks and food. Street parking is tough around the area and a challenge due to permit and street meter constraints that will require running out to feed the meter. read more

This is what a live music venue should look like. You're literally steps away from the artist. The sound quality is good. The intimacy of the performance is off the charts. Elton John, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and many other huge stars played on this tiny stage. They don't get the talent like they used to but some of the acts are still excellent. They've got booze and food for sale and, believe it or not, the club is all ages. Personally, I don't think I would bring a kid here but there are rowdier bars for sure. There is some seating upstairs but not much. It's standing room only on the floor, as it should be. Dan Tana's is located about 15 feet away, seriously, and is a great choice before or after a show. If you're a fan of history and live music, make the pilgrimage. read more

my friends and i were delighted to see there was a spot behind the bar to order food because we were feeling snackish. we came to support our friend performing and didn't have time to get food before. we all ordered like 5 of us in a row. the woman running that food window is one of the rudest, witchiest, scariest, intimidating humans we've ever encountered. i will bring this back to myself. i'm floor experience manager at bar, restaurant lounge concept so having patience with guests in high volume establishments is something i've committed to for decades. all my friends are also in the service industry as well and would never treat guests the way she was. we each still tipped 20%, she saw my tip as well and actually said thank you. but when it came to any of us asking for recommendations, simple questions, or even just responses to wanting the club sandwich or gyro but "NO WE DONT HAVE BACON!!!" "NOOOOO WE DON'T HAVE TZAKIKI" and being so annoyed, pissed and bothered as if just simply ordering was an inconvenience to her entire life. my friends communicated the items that were out, so i tried to make my interaction with her as quick, efficient and sweet as possible but she was still so rude, bothered, and mean. when i asked what sauces come with the wings even though the photo shows a red sauce and white, she stared at me with snake eyes and said "RANCH!". i asked if there was buffalo possibly and she said something inaudible, i was surprised i actually got it. she saw me still tip 20% but continued to be rude and ruin our groups energy. every friend came back to our table and was complaining about how scary she was acting. when we were eating and standing around our table she would rush up behind us and scream "MOVE, OUT OF THE WAY, HELLLOOOOO MOVE!" i truly hope she has an excuse because when you are in the industry of serving guests there is a way to handle things. we were not being difficult and it really set the tone for our friends show. please flag this to her asap! you can not have a witch running that food window ruining everyone's night...it got to the point where we didn't even trust the food was safe to eat because it seemed like she hated every single person ordering food from her. read more

Who knew??? The TROUBADOUR has food... LOL. I've been here 100 times and first time I noticed. Attended last night for an Aretha Franklin tribute, incredible show. The bar bites are fantastic BTW. Check out my photo of the menu, good stuff cheap. Great burgers! Best venue in LA for live music, sound system is unbeatable, the artists booked are the beat of the best, and it's cozy inside. Usually packed. I like the front bar and the upstairs bar, they tend to be less packed. The middle bar is a zoo LOL but great seats for the show. All of the bartenders are ladies (girl power!) and the service is quick given the size of the crowds they are serving. Fire up a hot dog next time you go! LOL. They won't disappoint! read more

I've wanted to come to the Troubadour like forever. This is the legendary live music venue that kick-started the careers of just about everybody I loved playing on my turntable as a teen - Carole King, James Taylor, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, and on and on and on. Comics like Lenny Bruce, Steve Martin, and Albert Brooks started here. It's the kind of club where Springsteen was third on the bill in 1974 and didn't perform until 1:45AM. Half the Beatles (John & Ringo) were kicked out for heckling the Smothers Brothers. Jamie W. and I were having a WeHo weekender, and I decided we must see a show here no matter who was playing. We lucked out. Doors opened at 8PM, and we were punctual. Once we got past the security check, we were surprised how small the place was. There was mezzanine seating, so we sat in the first row with a clear view of the stage. At a little past 9PM, the first band started playing. Their non-sequitur retro name was TV Broken 3rd Eye Open. They were quite good, a world-music five-piece band celebrating their 12th anniversary that night. They played for an hour, and it was a pretty eclectic set with the lead guitarist alternating his instrument with a didgeridoo, a tall wind pipe that made a low moaning sound through his breath control (video: https://yelp.to/ymAWWR3jSP). Around 10:30PM, the main act, TAUK, emerged. They were a four-piece progressive rock band that played different types of fusion music. They were joined by a three-man horn section with two saxophones and a trumpet. Then the true star of the evening performed with them, a great singer named Kanika Moore (video: https://yelp.to/am2E1T23Ec). It was honestly like listening to Whitney for the first time though Moore is ensconced in the jazz funk genre. With her pure vocal lines, she really transformed TAUK's percussive music into a style that reminded me at times of Sarah Vaughan and Sade. Will she follow in her predecessors' footsteps? Could be. He had a horrible attitude and someone had walked in after me and he said "Oh look it works you just didn't shut it" I don't know if the door was bugging or what but I had locked the door. The ADA situation at this venue is a total joke. And the house manager is about as helpful as a sharp stick in the eye. Despite the website only selling general admission seats, the venue now requires you to email them to add your name to an ADA list. Only then will you be granted access to their seated areas. Where or how this is made clear on their website is anyone's guess. I've attended dozens and dozens of shows here and the upstairs seats were always a first come / first serve free-for-all. Oh and no additional seats will be provided for patrons requesting ADA assistance - when I asked the house manager about additional seats being provided, she told me to try my luck finding a spot behind the bar - where there's a smattering of high bar stools. If the artist you want to see is over 25 and you have a bum foot - you are completely out on your ass. The NPR senior set will start lining up at noon for an 8pm performance, and you can kiss any ADA concession or consideration goodbye. read more

Under an alcohol induced haze, I had an excellent time at the Troubadour. This institution has been around since 1957, and hosted many world-famous bands. The venue reminds me of a mini, House of Blues, with an upstairs perch allowing for additional viewing of the stage below. They also have a front bar area which is more or less separate from the stage/bar area. As one might expect, I wish they had more bar coverage, just be patient. The young ladies working the stage bar did a great job, I was impressed with their hustle. On this particular Saturday night (07/13/2024) the venue was hosting, Canal Street. I would call them a "ragtag" band that covers a wide array of music. They tend to dip their toe into 70's/80's rock, but their musical fascination expands well beyond that. As an example, they went from Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin to Britney Spears, talk about diverse! In between you can expect the likes of Billy Idol, the Killers, and the Go Go's, to name a few. This band of 7 brings the fun with diverse musical stylings that go between female and male lead vocals. I found the Troubadour to be a fun venue and a great place to watch a concert. Fun night at the Troubadour. We saw Dirty Honey and they rocked the house-sold out show. Be prepared to stand in a large crowd and not be able to get back to your location if you leave for a drink or restroom if the show is sold out. What an iconic and intimate spot that has hosted some fantastic acts over the years. I got to see Tanner Adell and Breland recently and really enjoyed this venue because there isn't a bad spot at all and you are very close to the band. They also have food service and a bar that isn't crazy expensive as some other venues. Parking can be a pain, but that's pretty much all of LA and this area. My favorite thing is that they host upcoming artists and do not inflate their ticket prices an insane amount. They are really for the music and the people! read more

The ambiance is so weird, creepy and men full the place in a scary way. Came on Halloween and ALL the male security guards were rude and liars. We went alllllll the way down the strip and multiple places said that Troubadour was letting people in for the restroom. We asked them and ALL security guards said no and insisted that they could not accommodate one female for the restroom while the rest of the party waited for them. Do NOT trust the people here and do NOT come here. The Food and drinks taste awful too. EW ugly men that were employed at the doors ruined the whole experience. read more

As much as my husband and I enjoy music, you think we would have known this club existed, but we never heard of it. He had played down this strip when we were first married. I was working and didn't go. Never have been in this area. A well known band is touring all the clubs in the area raising money for a charity. Some friends of ours in L.A. got us some tickets. Seeing a band we grew up listening to who is selling out large coliseum in such a intimate club up close was awesome. For those who arent familiar like us, coming in from out of town, there are several parking garages and lots online with surprisingly reasonable pricing in the area. We searched online by distance to the club rather than what was nearby. They don't want you waiting in line more than an hour before the show if you are arriving in the main entrance. A classic venue I'll keep coming back to. Lots of standing room space, minimal upper floor seating (first come first serve) if you're into that. I had some tickets for The Heavy earlier this week and it was a fantastic experience. Drinks were somewhat reasonably priced (for LA) and they also have food (which we didn't try, went to Great White for a meal - definitely recommend that place for food!). There are a few bar options to choose from, but I'd avoid the one upstairs pre-show as it got a little crowded. Also, check out The Heavy. They were 10/10 performers. read more

I don't know what to say about the Troubadour these days. From 1994 to 2009 I lived on the Westside. They used to have hip new alternative bands here all the time - like Silversun Pickups or Death in Vegas or High on Fire. I was there multiple times a month. Tickets and drinks were always cheap. They still are. However, I have not been back since I moved to the San Gabriel Valley, and it's not just because of how far away it is. No one of any interest seems to play the Troubadour or the Whisky-A-Go-Go. It's all nobodies. I don't know what happened. For a few of these years, the Roxy started getting a bunch of good bands, but the Troubadour hasn't had anyone until AJ Croce played one night last week supposedly to cover his late father's music - he did but he also played more of his own unspectacular music than his father's, so it was a disappointing show musically. The sound is still amazing at the venue. The place is incredibly small and intimate, like being in someone's living room. There used to be benches upstairs that anyone could sit in, and the benches are still there but at least at this show two or three of the five rows were reserved for VIPs. That sucked. I don't know if they do that all the time now. The room upstairs used to be for VIPs, with a small bench outside the VIP bar room on the side of the stage. For this show that was left open. So maybe they just save the first few rows upstairs for VIPs now and the upstairs bar is just a regular upstairs bar. I saw in some reviews people talking about the upstairs sometimes being completely off-limits or requiring an extra fee. I don't know if that is true. Also, the parking is a nightmare. You cannot find parking here any longer and there are no pay lots nearby. All the streets in West Hollywood are permit only and they will tow. The restaurants like Dan Tana's might let you valet if they have room, but I wouldn't bet on it. The website literally now says to ride share in with Uber or Lyft. However, from where I live, it would've been at least $70 each way to do that. It'd be cheaper to get a parking ticket. There used to be a parking lot across the street where you could pay to park, but it was shut down a few years ago and now someone is supposedly building a giant office building there. There used to be parking across the street on Santa Monica Boulevard, but that is all no parking anytime now. And there used to be parking around the corner on Melrose, but now there are like 3 clubs on that block and parking is impossible. The parking meters also used to only got to 4 pm, then it would be no parking from 4-7pm, and after 7pm it would be free. Now the meters go till midnight every day. However, you can only buy 2 hour parking at most meters, and the ones you can get four hour parking don't allow you to buy 4 hour parking until after 8 pm. Considering most shows start by 8 pm or earlier, this is a huge pain in the behind. I still love the space. I think as a venue, it is great. The parking is just too much a nightmare for me ever to consider going there again. Terrible ticket sale process for the Carly Rae Jepsen show. I got in queue ahead of time and got assigned the 168 spot in line, which was insane luck and super exciting!! But when it was my turn to purchase tickets after only 16 minutes, the page crashed multiple times* and had to reload before I finally got in to buy my tickets. However it never got past the processing pop up and I missed out on my tickets because the site wouldn't move on to the next screen for payment info.** I finally got a hold of the booking office (an hour after they opened) and they told me "there's nothing we can do". I explained my situation and have screenshots to show that I'm not making anything up. Yet all I was told was "sorry, can't do anything. We didn't expect the demand." (which as an aside....how do you not anticipate the demand for a one time show celebrating the ten year anniversary of Emotion when you're literally located in Weho). Anyway, terrible customer service and terrible online queue system. I'm never trusting this place again. NOT to mention that within 15 minutes of the sale opening up, scalpers were already posting tickets for $1000 resale on a $100 ticket***. Awful, awful experience. I would expect better from a venue that bills itself as a premier music venue. I noted my Queue ID and took screenshots of the entire process to show that I'm not making this up. I'm writing this review 3.5 hours later and the webpage still says "processing". *The webpage crash was literally a gateway timeout with the wl.eventim.us site (I have a screenshot of this) ** I also tested the ticket purchase process the day before with tickets to see Dylan Marlowe. I got all the way through the purchase web flow, so I know it wasn't my browser settings.
