We had an accident on Feb. 28-Friday, while parked on the side, a tow truck from honda roadside assistance came, we ask the driver if he was sent by our insurance in which he said yes. He also assured that the towing is free care of Honda road assistance. After towing our truck we ask the driver if he was going to tow our car to oxnard, he said no it is too far and suddenly said he will drop us in Matrix Collision Repair. We ask the driver if Matrix Collision was under our insurance, he also said yes. We arrive at Matrix around 4:45pm, 15 minutes before their closing. Once we arrive in Matrix we ask the body shop rep if they are under our insurance network, which he claimed they are. On the weekend we emailed our adjustor to verify if they are under their network since one of my friend said we might have been a victim of predatory towing. Our adjustor replied on Monday morning and said Matrix and that tow truck are not under our insurance network. I immediately called Matrix to not touch my car and I will have it towed here in Oxnard where it is closer to my place. They even offered me not to pay my deductible just to keep my car, but I still insisted on getting my car out of there shop since I found out they lied to us. My insurance then called me and said Matrix is charging us almost $2.9k for storage fee during the weekend, and for the towing which the driver said it was free before I can remove my car to there shop. I have no problem with them, if they are under our insurance network. But they lied to us by claiming they are which delayed the repair of my car and cause us a lot of stress. Also, for the high amount they charged my insurance for doing nothing and causing more problem to us. read more

Took in my car to fix back fender bender damage to my Prius, the part had been repaired before due to a previous crash at another auto shop that did a poor paint job. I know that people are usually really wary of folks in the auto body shop industry but this was a truly different experience. I came in for an insurance repair after a fender bender - without an appointment in the middle of the afternoon. From the first moment walking in, the receptionist, who was really nice all way through, greeted me and was extremely knowledgeable about getting the process started without any pushy sales or attempts to upsell. Within minutes, Max was taking a look at the damage to my car while the receptionist had already taken care of all of the insurance paperwork on the backend without me needing to do much at all. They were in constant communication throughout the repair and I must say that they truly made me feel like they actually cared about getting my car taken care of and doing it quickly. They have this cool text messaging service that gives you a link to monitor the progress of the car and it was actually really accurate, letting me know when things were ready. Because this was an insurance paid repair, I can't speak to their prices but I do know that the customer service was top-notch. A big shout out to the folks at the reception desk and the estimator that I dealt with who went the extra mile to also take care of anything else in the car even if it wasn't directly connected to the repair. Never post Yelp reviews but felt it was my civic duty to help others avoid this place. Got into a serious rear end accident on the 10 freeway. They were the recommended repair facility by the at fault party. Side note: never go to the repair facility of the at fault party. They returned the car with the tow hitch cover missing -- and when I kneeled down to look at it saw the frame piece they had put in looked used. I asked the guy and he said they used second hand salvage parts. Never would have agreed to this. They never to this day months later - have sent us the hitch cover. To top it off there was a hole in the left taillight they they did not repair saying they determined it was not from the accident -- which is silly. Occam's razor - either a 24 inch tall person shot my taillight from behind with a BB gun the same day as the accident or it's a hole from the debris from the crumpled car that hit me from behind. Now I wasn't even going to leave a review for the above shenanigans - but was just informed by a mechanic after paying $2000 repair bill to replace cracked motor mounts that they were most likely damaged in the accident and never repaired. Avoid this shop at all costs and never use the at fault party recommended shop. You will get fleeced or in this case out back on the road in a dangerous vehicle that they did not repair properly. read more

Was T Boned this morning, a rogue tow truck driver showed up. Name is Eli (Israeli accent) said he was with aaa. I was shook and didn't check id. Put my car on the tow and we started driving. He told me that my aaa certified place was full and that I had to go to matrix. Much further away. Again, didn't verify and assumed all was kosher. I started getting texts and calls from aaa saying they were almost at the scene.... I told them I was already picked up. Got a intuition that something was not legit and once I got to matrix it was all too obvious. These guys are in business with these rogue tow trucks and pull this stuff. Kickbacks and all Avoid matrix at all costs. Found out from Aaa that this happens with matrix often and Eli is a well known scammer. Double and triple check everything If they drop your car inside the facility you are screwed, fortunately he dropped me on the sidewalk. Only cost me all morning but super eye opening. Avoid Matrix! I recently took my new car to Matrix following a hit and run to have damage repaired and repainted. My insurance company was charged thousands and after three weeks, I was given my car back and noticed a few days later some discoloration in the paint in the repair location. I took the vehicle back to Matrix, the shop manager looked at it and told me I was right. The work needed to be redone and while not common, "repairs sometimes have issues." Told me to drop the car off in a couple days to redo the work. Dropped the car, Matrix called me a few hours later and then said it was "new damage" and they saw a dent there now. So they would not guaranty the work and I needed to pick up my car. Hard to imagine getting hit in the same place twice in a month with exactly the same damage happening. Love to know the statistics on that being possible vs a body shop doing bad work. Three body shops later - each told me the work was not done. No sign of paining or repair just buff and polish. You will see other complaints here similar and the responses written and noted from Matrix are 100%. Avoid this place like the plague. They charged thousands to my insurance for the "repair" and I now have to take them to court to get the work actually done. I bet they write a similar response as others that is defensive and reflect how they run a business. read more

I was referred to Matrix by my insurance company for repairs. My vehicle was in the shop for roughly a week and a half when I was told by the service advisor that the repairs were completed and that I could pick the car up. I arranged for an appointment time so they were expecting me. I arrived at the shop and some employee took my car for a test drive while I dealt with paying my deductible and signed paperwork. When the employee returned he told me that my rear tail lights weren't working and that Matrix would not fix them. I explained to that guy and the service advisor that the lights were working when I originally dropped the car off. They acted as though I was lying! I asked them that if they noticed the taillights weren't working then why wasn't I notified of this during the repair process or even prior to my arrival at the shop that day. Crickets. I asked to see the intake form the shop should have completed that would've documented any issues Matrix found with the car before they started repairs. Crickets. So basically these guys at Matrix failed to restore my car to pre-accident condition and made my car extremely dangerous to drive because the taillights were completely non-functional. Of all the times I have ever needed repairs for my vehicle, I have NEVER experienced such unprofessionalism from so-called professionals. I immediately complained to my insurance company and got them involved. Matrix agreed to inspect the car and see if they could figure out how they caused the taillights to fail. I returned to the shop the next day and Matrix performed a power reset which caused the taillights to work again. Why would they fail to do this before releasing the car back to me? Such incompetence! Imagine if I had gotten into an accident due to their oversight/error that they initially refused to repair! Horrible! In hindsight, I should've taken my vehicle to my favorite repair shop, D.C. Autocraft. They are real professionals that know what they're doing, will keep you informed during the repair process, and I highly recommend them. D.C. Autocraft is THE BEST! Don't take your vehicle to Matrix. They are unscrupulous and I have zero confidence in the repairs they performed. read more
