It's work, but If you don't try, nothing happens. Escalate issues. Don't give up! My kids launched themselves and ended renting a place together. On their own , not knowing the hell ahead, chose Allstate for car insurance. I bought my daughter Carly a good used car; it was titled to me, but hers to drive and maintain. In her 4th year with the car, there was an accident and an Allstate adjuster determined her car a complete loss. A dollar amount was decided, and Carly, prepared to purchase a new car. Allstate's check took 6 weeks to arrive, & had both Carly's & my name on it? The bank sent it back to Allstate. TWO MORE MONTHS GO BY WITH NO PAYMENT (with Carly's finances a mess), I made the next call. The bottom line from Allstate was: THEY MIGHT HAVE TO WITHDRAW ANY PAYMENT! WTF? 'They don't insure cars titled to a parent, driven by their child?' Caveat to Parents who buy kids a car (titled to parents), be certain you're covered! And when I asked for real honesty re: intent to pay (what we ARE owed), the chances of denying ANY payment, the agent said, 'well it's possible there won't be payment, were still investigating.' They had convinced me to sign up for the "easy pay" plan to save $25 per billing cycle, turns out it's just a way to keep you from checking their rate hikes. Only to call me back an hour later, exasperated that "these claims, they keep coming in...". As if that is a reasonable excuse for an unprecedented price hike. Geico offered me the same rate I was paying for the same coverage. I cannot urge you strong enough, these guys have bad business practices. The worst customer service. They rarely ever reply back to you even after repeated attempts. Once they get their foothold on commissions from your business they ignore you. I've had to get clarification on insurance terms, updates to coverage and annual renewals directly with the insurance company yet this awful insurance broker still collects their commission for doing nothing. They don't deserve it. I have complained about poor customer service to their management but it still continued. I have given them several chances and they failed me each time. Avoid this company.

When I asked the agent why there was an extra 200.00 on the policy from APIA compared to the policy that came directly from the insurer, he simply repeated to cancel the policy. He never provided proof that my friend was aware of the extra charge nor did he explain the extra charge. When I enlisted various agencies to check on the extra fee, APIA told them that my friend was aware of the fee without providing any documentation. Additionally, APIA refused to refund more than 900.00 in the manner that my friend preferred. Either APIA's systems are primitive or they are very reluctant to refund monies due. And therefore took several months to refund the money and did not even pay interest. Bottom line...BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS AGENT, APIA. COMPARE THE POLICY YOU RECEIVE FROM APIA CAREFULLY WITH THE POLICY YOU RECEIVE FROM THE ACTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY.
