I didn't think I was the type to buy a mattress from an actual store. I'm a millennial, I'd rather just order it online and not have to have any potential awkward encounters with anyone. But you know, I think I've changed my mind on that. When I first came here in March, I really just wanted to try out a Purple mattress since I'd heard so much about it. Martin helped me out and really gave me a lot of information to make a decision. Mattress Firm also honors all the deals that Purple has on their website, so there's that as well. We came back today to actually buy the mattress and Donna was super helpful. I have to say that everyone I've dealt with here was nothing but friendly and knowledgeable. They make it really easy to make a decision with so many options and it seemed like they were very clear and outlined all of the relevant details, which I particularly appreciate when making such a large purchase. I bought a mattress in 2017 - within 18 months the sag was bad. I called and was told "that's acceptable sag"... My husband has had a stroke - he cannot sleep on that mattress because it hurts his back. NO ONE is helping me resolve this issue. Oh wait - I was offered a discount on a new mattress....but NO HELP on the current that SHOULD be under warranty. Would LOVE IT if SOMEONE would reach out and help me resolve this issue. A mattress should NOT sag over 1" in less than 18 months and now it's 4 years later and it's MORE than 1.25" and it's like they don't care. Just buy another one. No. this SHOULD be under warranty. We had an exceptional experience here. The manager helped us. We were only curious & browsing but she's so patient, honest & easy going that we ended up walking out with a new mattress. The store is clean & well lit. They have a restroom & water. They don't hussle you and thankfully almost all the mattresses in store are now labeled with prices. If you're on a budget, they have a few in the back on clearance that you can grab & go. Delivery is also amazing. You can track your driver & know whey exactly he'll show up at your place. After a trip to Sleepy's, I was feeling positively beaten down and unhappy with the world in general. I still needed a mattress, however, so I decided to try Mattress Discounters. I'm so glad I came here! The people working there were really nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Pricing was relatively transparent, and they had a variety of models to try in different price ranges, unlike some other places where you can only try the expensive ones. They were really good about figuring out my needs, like how long I was planning to keep it, in addition to comfort to figure out the best one for my budget. Although delivery wasn't free, they arranged it pretty easily through a contractor, and it required minimal effort on my part. It was a very easy and pleasant process, and I will most definitely go back the next time I need a mattress. read more

My wife and I went through a long research process when looking at purchasing a new mattress. This was our first time going through this process and we considered everything from the cheap mattresses all the way up to the Tempur-Pedics and Caspers of the world. We went to multiple individual stores at Tysons Corner Mall to see some of the higher end ones, but eventually decided it was worth going to a Mattress Firm in the area as well to see some other options. When we first arrived at Mattress Firm in Herndon we were greeted by a man named Dave. He provided answers to every question and gave some great recommendations. He was not pushy whatsoever, was very personable, and never made us feel pressured into making a decision. We left after that first trip, went back to a few of the stores at the mall, and then eventually made our way back to Mattress Firm to look at a few more mattresses. Once again, Dave was there and was always a pleasure to work with. I went back the next day to purchase the mattress from Dave, and it was a super smooth process. I can't recommend this location enough. If you're thinking about going to one in the area, call ahead of time to see if Dave is working. read more

My fiancee and I had been shopping around for a mattress for about a week, but the prices we had seen at Sleepy's and a couple of furniture stores were completely out of our budget. After seeing a couple of ad's on TV for Mattress Discounters and reading the good reviews on here, we decided to check the store out this Saturday. When we got to the store, we were immediately approached by Steve, who introduced himself, and told us to try some of the mattresses out and let him know if we had any questions. We tried out several mattresses, but ultimately still found that the prices were too far out of our budget. Just as we contemplated heading to Mattress Warehouse across the street, Omar approached us and asked how our search was going. He asked us a couple of questions about what we were looking for, and showed us a Serta floor model that he could get us for more than 50 percent off. The floor model was perfect - plush, luxurious, and just the right amount of firmness. He added free shipping, and a mattress pad on top of the savings, and we were sold. Ultimately, we spent a little bit more than we had planned on. However, we we're happy we got something that was really worth the money, and hadn't felt too pressured the entire time we were in the store. If we have to buy a new mattress in 15 years, we would definitely return! read more

This review is not a reflection of sales reps. They were helpful. I ordered the wrong mattress. That's my fault. I wanted to exchange it with another mattress and was told that isn't possible because the mattress I wanted was not in the warehouse and there is a different delivery process for it. I would have to return my existing mattress first and wait at least 4 days and maybe even longer to get the exchange mattress. That's just awful customer service and I think this probably my last order from mattress firm after nearly twenty years of being a customer. read more

The negative part of this review is for those who are considering financing their mattress/bed and do not have a checking account. First, I must say Steve and Dave are great to work with! Delivery team was very good as well. I couldn't be more pleased. My complaint is the Synchrony Financing that is available. I feel the following info should be shared with each person when considering this payment option. The salespeople may not be aware of the following: You cannot use a credit card (or debit card, which means you have a cheking acct), to make your payments without incurring a $10 fee each time. You must use a checking or savings account. Be sure to open an acct before opting for this finance plan to save you the extra $10 a month. read more

Bought expensive beds from Mattress Firm for the past 3 times and had great customer experience even at the Herndon location (and Martin assisted us). However, recently, we were there to purchase another bed and someone else serviced us. Paid for the purchase and was told the bed would arrive on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve came and went. Called the Herndon location after Christmas, and was told it would be January 3rd. January 3rd came and we had to stay home in case the mattress arrive. 3pm came, and still no mattress. Checked on-line and the delivery date was changed to "TBD". No one bothered to call us or we would have been able to keep our doctor's appointment. We called and canceled our entire purchase and decided that Mattress Firm will not be our choice again. read more

I am moving soon and am downsizing from a King bed to a Queen.  I worked with Donna at the Herndon location.  She was great!  I am a complete germophobe and had a lot of hesitation to do any kind of in-person mattress shopping during this COVID-19 pandemic.  She was very careful and practiced health and safety precautions during my visit.  I advise bringing your own pillow case and a towel or sheet to lay on when trying the different mattresses.  She helped me find a mattress that fit my needs and budget.  Not pushy at all and helped me save $.  Thank you Donna!  The mattress and base were delivered yesterday.  Delivery went well.  So far I am very pleased :) read more

Absolutely not. I walk in today ready to purchase a mattress for next day delivery. At this point, I should be a sales associates dream. I felt that the sales associate was taking advantage of my age. After making it clear I wasn't spending $2000.00 on a mattress, he continued to have me try mattresses at cost $3000.00. He continued to offer finance of which I made clear I wasn't interested in. He also continued to make comments as "well you must have a good job" and "just put it on your credit card, I'm sure you have one". I understand he has a job to do, but that really rubbed me the wrong way. I felt he continued to make comments that made it clear he was sizing me up. Not to mention, they charge you $200.00 for a box spring that most companies charge you little to none for. The mattresses here are severely overpriced. Mattress shopping is a necessary evil and not something anyone wants to do. However, it's such an important decision and one that Mattress Discounters in Herndon made so much easier. I had gone to another location of MD, Sleepy's and Mattress Warehouse and was so relieved to find a great review here on Yelp of MD in Herndon. It's as good as it gets. Steve was my initial salesman. He wasn't overbearing and very informative. Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased with my mattress when it arrived and thanks to their very generous 14 day Sleep Guarantee policy, I was able to exchange my mattress for one that is perfect!! Omar handled my exchange and was amazing! I called what seemed thousands of times, tried to negotiate and he handled it all with patience and fairness!! Wow. This team is truly top notch. I stopped at this Mattress Discounters based on the reviews of the sales people. Sure enough it was a quick, easy and painless process. Steve was our sales person. He began by introducing himself to my husband, my daughter and myself. Then we tested out 2 very different mattresses to decide if we'd prefer a firm or softer mattress. Once that was decided he narrowed it down to which ones would work for our preference and budget. At no point did he try to get us into a more expensive mattress. He truly wanted us to have something we were comfortable in (physically and financially) I can not review the actual mattress because it has not yet arrived. read more

I was very pleased with my experience at Mattress Discounters. I felt no pressure while I was there. They seemed genuinely interested in helping me. One of the reasons I picked Mattress Discounters was because they have a 60 day comfort guarantee. It turned out to be a good thing because I did not like the mattress I selected. When I returned to the store for the exchange they listened to what I did not like about the mattress and helped me again. Yes, I had to pay a 15% fee to return the mattress itself and a new delivery fee, but it was a small price to pay to get a mattress I really liked. read more

Steve was a terrific host - HOST, not Salesman - and he managed to set me up w/ something very quick, as I needed a full-sized bed for my mother, who was arriving from abroad to move to this area. Went in last night to look at a transitional mattress for a two YO coming out of a crib. Weren't really planning to buy, but Omar put us over the top. He was outstanding - took the time to explain contextual differences to look for with a kids mattress, such as how to know how well reinforced the side construction is for parents sitting on the bedside. He was a clearly knowledgable, helpful and kind salesman. I like beating up on sales guys for the lowest price, but I didn't have to - he took the list price and found bottom line without asking. We ended up spending 50% more than we planned based on his sensible recommendations and no pressure tactics. Highly recommended. read more

Omar was a joy to work with! From the moment my husband and I stopped in the store, he was helpful and knowledgeable without being overbearing or pushy. We purchased a mattress and had it delivered to our home. Omar called us to check on the delivery and when we were missing something, he was available by phone (even gave us his cell phone number) to help us troubleshoot. He even called the manufacturer to get the size of the screws that we'd need! The day of the delivery was his day off but he still called to make sure it went okay. There was some miscommunication with the delivery drivers and when I shared this with Omar, he followed up with the delivery company to find out why the drivers weren't informed. Had a sale advertisement on the web which brought me in. The salesman knew nothing about it and went to look online to find it himself. Even with the advertisement in front of him he could not honor it because he didn't know which mattress it was. Advertisements had included a box spring and he would sell as a set. Andrea and Frank are the best! A lot of the mattress places we went were pushy, like 1980's used car salesman pushy - avoid "warehouse" places at all costs! Andrea and Frank are totally the opposite. Andrea spent a lot of time with us, over a couple days actually making sure we got what we wanted. At one point we were miserable with our new mattress as it wasn't anything like the store mattress, and despite the mattress maker literally telling me "good luck with that", Frank and Andrea made sure the mattress got swapped out free of charge! Honestly, they're great people and their friendly honest demeanor almost catch you off guard at first. read more

Keep away Mattress Discounter if you can. They won't let you return or exchange right after you bought it even if there is a quality problem! They require you wait for 30 days to exchange, then they charge you 15% re-instock and $85 delivery, that is, they don't allow you to deliver/pick up by yourself when you exchange. If you are buying a twin size mattress, go figure. read more

Steven Malamud provides great customer service!! I didn't buy my mattress from this store, however, Steve was working in the Woodland crossing store where I did buy mine. I was having issues switching my delivery date to 2 weeks out and to another city nonetheless. I went to the store twice and had no luck because of several unrelated issues. I called back on a Saturday and Steve answered. He mentioned he worked at the store in Herndon but would be take down my order number and call me back. He called me back later to let me know he couldn't fix it and to try back the following Monday. I was pretty livid but Steve maintained professionalism and phenomenal customer service. He called me back later in the day and let me know that he finally figured out the issue and could solidify my delivery date! I called him back when I heard his voicemail and thanked him so much for following up. He called and sent me an email to confirm and I can't thank him enough. When you're moving two hours away and having to coordinate a ton of moving pieces ( literally) it's great to have someone go above and beyond that didn't even sell you the mattress! He's great and I highly recommend him and this store because of him! read more

Omar and Steve are the real deal, in customer service. When my Vivon mattress arrived 2 days after my purchase, the mattress never inflated.....rather, it took on a look of a very wavy mattress. There were 3 complete depressions, from one side to the other, looked like 3 continental drifts. All instructions said one can sleep on mattress, first night, and it will continue to expand over 48 hours. Every video I watched showed beds just out of the box, completely straight. I knew I had a lemon. In pain sleeping on a wavy mattress, at 1 am, I got up, undid my whole bed and had to start opening and fully making a convertible sofa bed up. Had to move furniture out of the way, too. Next morning, I walked in, Steve, the manager, was there. I opened up with "you're looking at a very angry customer". Cutting to the chase, by 8:15 that evening, after having worked an entire long day at the store, Steve and Omar (Omar's day off), were delivering me my replacement mattress, in impeccable condition, bringing it upstairs, placing on my bed, and removing the defective one. This is the kind of treatment that brings customers utter happiness in patronizing a business. read more
