Currently, it's all about "sleep systems" and "wake-mode performance enhancers" designed by ergonomists at MIT who have calibrated the perfect combination of breathable foam, space age polymers and computer controlled firmness to send you off to dreamland while simultaneously supercharging your career. Now, you can all but forget about counting sheep as you count the 50-90 Benjamins that will fly from your wallet to afford all of this modern bed chamber technology (I'm not even counting the bed in a box e-commerce brands that have metastasized all over the net.) That's where Mattress Firm comes in. Sure, they'll be happy to sell you a SpaceX set-up but if you have a preference for a no nonsense mattress, box spring combo they'll do that as well. Like any big ticket purchase ("sleep systems" now qualify) if you do a little research you'll more than likely wind up with a comfortable option that won't require a third mortgage. They were more than professional since I knew exactly what I wanted and didn't squeeze me with an upsell. Although it wasn't quite Macy's in 1998, Mattress Firm came close. Came here to test mattresses and buy a mattress during the pandemic. The staff was very helpful and thoughtful about our safety. He ensured that I had paper towels on the pillows provided to test the mattresses. He also didn't hover and allowed me to decide for myself which mattress was best. Also appreciated that he wore a mask the entire time and answered all of our questions in detail. Oftentimes, large chain retailers get a bad rap. I get it - I've worked for such a retailer in my time and I see what goes on behind the scenes. The top down culture of such businesses is unavoidable and it's unfortunate that us consumers have to deal with it and that the employees have to put up with it as well. I start off my review this way because I've seen HUNDREDS upon THOUSANDS of negative reviews on Sleepy's. Rude and pushy customer service, awful return policy (basically they don't have one), bad warranty, insufficient delivery, false claim on prices, bed bugs on mattresses, etc. etc. Our experience at this particular Sleepy's didn't live up to those negative reviews so for those of you in the market for a new mattress and in the Princeton area, don't be discouraged by those reviews. Also keep in mind that people generally take to message boards when they're unhappy v. super happy. This location was one of many we visited prior to purchasing our new mattress. Customer service was what we expected. They're salespeople looking to make $$ so of course they're going to act like salespeople and try to make a sale. However, they weren't overly pushy and by no means rude. The prices... well... we were prepared to spend $$$$. You can certainly find mattresses for any price range but if you want the "best" be prepared to pay a good chunk of money. I think the bottom line is - don't be afraid to ask questions, ask about the return policy and make them tell you they don't have one (otherwise they won't mention it at all), try ALL the mattresses and really invest time in which one you love, negotiate, don't feel pressured to buy something THAT DAY. Delivery Review: We scheduled our delivery between 8AM and 12Noon. We were expecting this to be an electrician situation where the truck pulls up around 2:00PM. However, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the truck pull in at 8:10AM! They weren't white glove delivery people BUT they got the mattress upstairs, got us our paperwork, and were in and out in no more than 10 minutes. So for that - thank you. read more

Went into Sleepy's today without the intention of buying an actual bed until maybe Memorial Day Weekend. Met Ed who was one the sales reps and he was great! Answered many of my questions about the different types of beds, mattresses, pricing, etc.. My family had made a couple purchases in the past from Sleepy's and were very pleased with the products so that's why I decided to go in. Ed was able to give me a great deal on a foam mattress and bed. He knocked off the price on the bed by more than 50% and was able to throw in an extra cool gel pillow for half off. (This is on top of the free pillow). He was reasonable, courteous, and reliable on the information provided. Very thorough with all the details and warranty explanation. Had a lot of patience with me as I reviewed the bed entirely. Ed was an absolute pleasure to work with and was able to accommodate my pricing requests. Hope to one day come back and buy a thera pedic bed! This was my first bed buying experience on my own and was pleased with the customer service entirely. read more

The sales staff are nice at this location, but heaven forbid there is an issue with an order or you change your mind and cancel the order. on 8/20/2022 I was told to contact the store to cancel the order, so I did. Store staff said they would cancel the delivery. Delivery company called the next day and I refused the delivery. Today, I call the store to check on the refund after waiting the previously stated 10 business days. I checked my account first and saw no credit on my account online. The staff person today referred me to corporate phone number. That number's auto-message referred me to the chat tool on the website. Finally, got to a real person who told me to call the store. Geesh. This is the second time I will be filing a dispute with Synchrony Bank as Mattress Firm Customer Services is a disappointment, to say the least. Buyer beware! WARNING! DO NOT BUY FROM SLEEPY'S Deceptive Sales Practices!!! My husband and I purchased a tempurpedic mattress with an adjustable base last month. We were told that it is the best mattress and that we had 90 days to return this if we did not like it. When I was hesitant to purchase such an expensive mattress, the sales person assured us that we "have nothing to worry about, if you don't like it for any reason, you can simply return it within 90 days." He also upsold us an electronic base and never told us the price, only the monthly payment. After 5 days trying this mattress, we both knew that it wasn't the right mattress for us, as we did not get one good nights sleep since. We immediately called Sleepy's and ask to return, yet they refused and said we had to keep it for at least 30 days. So after waiting 30 days, we called Sleepy's once again requesting to return. This time, we were told that the mattress was exchangeable, yet the $4,000 base wasn't. We would have NEVER paid $4,000 for a base, especially if it wasn't refundable!!! Would you? It was almost as much as the mattress and it would only work with that particular mattress that we hated. I called customer service and they told me that they would get back to me in 3 days. It has been more than a week and we have not received any phone calls. We both wake up every morning with a neck and back ache and we paid close to $9,000 for this when we could have got a much more comfortable mattress and base for only $1,000! BEWARE! DON'T SHOP AT SLEEPY'S!!!! Save yourself the money and aggravation -- Go to Sears, Sam's, or Costco for a better price, better mattress, and better customer service! read more

What a wonderful experience I had at Sleepy's a couple of weeks ago. The salesperson, Vee, took great care of me and my mom as we shopped for a mattress for her. Sleepy's was our first stop -- just to see what they had and to look at their prices -- and after going to 5 other stores, we returned that afternoon and made our purchase -- based on both the quality and price of the mattress and the great customer care. We were very luck to get Vee, the salesperson, that day as she normally works in another store (and was filling in for that day). We also received a follow up call from Vee two weeks later to make sure that my mom was enjoying her new mattress and if there were any problems. That's just great customer care! Also ... delivery was quick and efficient. The delivery guys showed up a few minutes before the set time frame they gave us -- and even called right before to make sure we were ready and expecting them. Overall, top notch on all accounts. Just went there, trying to buy an $800 bed. Not bad right? The salesman didnt think so. We were left for nearly the whole experience and finally sought him out. When we got there he immediately asked, "so are you going to buy anything"? In a sharp but excusable fashion. Then in my family there was some confusion so i said "no were just hoping to get info". Not good enough for him. He replied "well then come back when you're looking to buy have a nice day". We left then decided upon the bed that it is a yes. We went back in and stood, ignored for 5 minutes until he came over and said very rudely "look, im busy ill help you in a minute, okay?". We went back to the bed we were to buy and waited 5 min again until it was perfectly clear it would be a good long while till hes ready. $800 will be spent else where. We're not going back read more

My experience at Sleepy's was one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had. One of the salesmen was outright rude, and the other salesman relied on sales tactics I'd only heard used car salesmen try. I went in and the store was empty. No customers. The first salesman had me sit down and "search" his inventory to see what kind of a deal he could get me. He first quoted me 300 dollars for a box spring. I asked about other models, and he said "What if I could knock 50 bucks off of the 100 dollar delivery charge?" This went on for a while with statements like, "Tell you what? Since you're my first customer of the day, how 'bout I give you the delivery for free. But you have to act now." Classic sleazy salesmanship. Despite these sleazy sales tactics, at least the man wasn't outright rude. The same cannot be said for his fellow salesman, however. Because I asked about what other models were available, the second salesman said: "Well is it even worth looking up what else we have in stock if 200 dollars is too expensive for you?" Leaving aside the fact that I never said that 200 dollars was too much for me, and that I wanted to get a sense of the range of prices, this was extremely rude. He was basically saying that he wasn't willing to lift a finger for me unless I was going to give him a big sale. All he had to do was to look up how much other models of box springs cost, and as I mentioned earlier, it's not as though they were inundated with customers. The store was completely empty. When I left I understood why it was completely empty. With a sales experience like that, who would ever want to come back? read more

Terrible! Ed sold us a mattress with a "box spring." Upon researching online reviews of the model I found out that it was a poorly made wood box. He also promised a frame that upon delivery never showed. I tried to discuss the situation with ED who was rude commenting that he did not care if he received poor reviews or was reported to BBB. read more
