It was time for me to buy a new mattress and my "connection" from many years ago had left the industry. So, I Googled mattress companies in the area and one stood out (Mattress Stop), every review was "5 stars" and mentioned "David" as being amazing. At first, I was distrustful of every review being 5 stars but I needed to find out for myself. They have their own parking in the back (no need to park on the street). As I walked in, I was greeted and it turned out to be "David." He asked me what I was looking for in terms of size, firmness, and if I had a brand in mind. I told him I wanted a queen and either firm or medium and I was flexible with regard to brand. He explained the layout of the mattresses in the store and suggested I take my time and lie down on as many mattresses as I wanted to. He did not rush or pressure me with anything, including my budget which I truly appreciated. I mentioned that I was a single dad and try not to spend too much on myself. David was clearly an expert on mattresses and had been in the industry for many years (in fact, he personally knew the person who was my "connection" for mattresses). I tried out many of the mattresses and although there were a few that I "liked", I had not yet "loved" any. I mentioned this to David and then he asked what type of mattress I had and I told him "Beautyrest." At this point, he told me he did not suggest the Beautyrest line as they were a little more expensive and he took note of my comment about not wanting to spend too much money on myself. David mentioned that he could "work with me" and check the internet to make sure I had the lowest price and that I should try the "Beautyrest" line since I was used to that type of mattress. Well, he was correct, as soon as I lied down on the mattress, I felt encased, secure, and knew I had found my mattress. We sat down, he checked the internet, gave me an additional "internet discount " (it was President's Day Weekend so there was a sale). He quoted me a price and although I thought it was fair, I needed to ensure that I was "getting a deal." I drove about 10 minutes to a "well know" mattress store in the area which had very good reviews (not all 5 star though) and I found my exact mattress for about $700.00 more and I figured that was the "regular", pre-sale price and that the sale price would be comparable to what David had quoted me earlier that day. When I asked the salesman at this other mattress store, I was quite surprised that the $700 more price was actually the sale price. So, this was an easy one. I did find my deal ($700 less than the exact same mattress at the other mattress store and they charged for delivery) and I immediately drove back to Mattress Stop, met with David and purchased the mattress (he even went down some more money to make it a more "even" number). David also wisely suggested a low-profile box spring as I had a picture of my existing bedframe, mattress, and regular profile box spring. He told me that my new mattress was thicker/higher than my existing old mattress and the low-profile box spring would give me a cleaner look. Then, the final parts of the bargain, free mattress protector (I believe a $70.00 value), free delivery and set up (up a flight of stairs), free removal (down a flight of stairs of my existing mattress and box spring and disposal of the old mattress and box spring. My mattress delivery was not only on time, I had an event to attend and I asked if the delivery could be earlier in the day. David accommodated my request and everything went perfectly. They even put the new mattress protector on my mattress for me. I did not have to lift a finger and David was correct, the new low-profile box spring gave my mattress a much cleaner, modern look. David lived up and even exceeded the wonderful reviews about him. He is also a very caring, considerate, and kind individual. I now have my new "connection" in the mattress industry.
