I had a very disappointing experience at Bob's Discount Furniture in Dover, DE…read more I work long hours, so most of my free time to shop is in the evening. The store advertises hours of 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, so I planned my visit accordingly. I arrived on Monday, July 6, 2026, around 8:15 PM. After about 10 minutes of looking around, a salesman greeted us. He was polite at first, but he was trying to assist us while also helping another customer. It was obvious multi tasking is not for him , and we never really received the attention needed for such a large purchase. Around 8:40 PM, the music was turned off. I was by the coffee and cookie station getting my child a cookie when a woman I assumed was the manager (dark hair in a bun) began putting away the coffee and refreshments. Loud enough for customers to hear, she told the salesman, "Yep, it's time to go home. Time to close up." The problem was that the store didn't close for another 20 minutes. Whether there were 20 minutes left or only 5, that's not how customers should be made to feel. The message was clear: they were more interested in getting everyone out the door than helping customers. Shopping for furniture is a major purchase that takes time, and once we felt rushed, we had no desire to continue. I completely understand that employees want to go home after a long shift, but if your posted hours say you're open until 9:00 PM, customers should receive the same level of service until 9:00 PM--not feel like an inconvenience because they came in during business hours. That interaction made me question what kind of customer service I'd receive after the sale if there were ever a problem. If customers are treated like an inconvenience before they've even made a purchase, it's hard to have confidence in the company afterward. We decided to leave without buying anything. The next morning we went to Ashley Furniture in the neighboring shopping center, where we were welcomed, never felt rushed, and ended up purchasing our living room furniture there instead. Unfortunately, Bob's Discount Furniture lost a sale because customer service ended before the store's posted business hours did.

After that he let us look around on our own and answered any questions we had. Zero pressure to buy a mattress, no annoying upselling. We found one, paid for it and it was delivered two days later. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. Very friendly salesman named Jason. Side note: our last mattress was an online purchased mattress delivered in a box. Let me say, nothing beats laying on your mattress beforehand. And having them deliver your new mattress is so nice. They wore shoe covers to not track in dirt, they took the old mattress out and set the new mattress up in about 8 minutes. That beats dragging a heavy box upstairs, cutting it open, and getting rid of the old mattress yourself... trust me.

My Wife and I recently purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress and frame. We started at this store and…read morethe sales rep told us their best price was the sticker price, they were not allowed to sell it for any less. The salesman went on to assure us that no other store would be able to sell it for lower then sticker price as they were not permitted to do so. The salesman stated that if we were able to find it cheaper to get it in writing and Sleepy's would beat it by 20%. The next day we called Johnny Janosik (about 2 miles away) and Mattress Warehouse (about 1/4 mile away) and they both were willing to sell the same products for almost 10% cheaper. After getting the better price quoted in writing through an email I called the Sleepy's sales rep back, he stated that he misspoke about beating the price by 20%. He stated this offer didn't apply to Tempur-Pedic mattresses. We ultimately made our purchase through Mattress Warehouse for a little over 10% cheaper then Sleepy's, having the same free delivery, and 0% financing terms.

This story doesn't start out well. We had issues with a piece of the bed frame we ordered not being…read moreavailable, and then the wrong piece being delivered multiple times. As a result, we had a lot of phone calls with this store. We ALWAYS received a prompt and courteous response, always with an aim toward resolving the problem. Communication was thorough; we never felt at any time like we were being ignored. The deliveries that were scheduled (again, multiple deliveries because we had that problem) were always on time, the the crew was very clean and professional. And, eventually the issue was resolved to our complete satisfaction. I'm impressed because, like most people, we don't buy beds that often. It would have been easy for the team at this Mattress Firm to brush us aside, because, after all, how likely were we to buy another bed in the near future? That's not what happened. In each conversation, it felt like they were doing their best to resolve our situation and advocating on our behalf. We don't have any bed-buying plans for the near term. But, if we did, we would definitely return to this Mattress Firm. And, when the time does come, this store will be the first place we look.

I put down a deposit, but was able to find it somewhere else with sooner availability. I called Furniture and More for a refund on my deposit only to be told I could only have a store credit. I had no choice at this point but to wait for the furniture and pay for the rest of the product. I received a phone call later that week stating I could have my dresser delivered sooner than planned. The delivery was scheduled for that Saturday. On Saturday the wrong dresser was brought to my home. Needless to say $400 I was not happy. I called the store and they told me this is what I ordered. This is not what I ordered. This is what the salesman tried to sell to me and I did not want. I was told I would be issued a refund which is not even pending into my account. I called and the women who supposedly issued the refund was condescending and very rude. She asked if I have ever been issued a refund and I said she. She said "I don't doubt it". I will NEVER use the this store. You get what you pay for and that's poor customer service. Unfortunately the rudest person in the store is the district manager.
