Was on the hunt for a good Corned Beef Rueben and figured an Irish sports bar would be the spot! I wasn't wrong! I'm not a fan of 1000 island dressing so I asked if they had spicy mustard. Unfortunately they did not. Our bartender/server went the extra mile and went to the grocery store next-door and bought some!!! He's amazing! Ok, back to the Reuben. That sandwich was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, not fatty. The bread was like toasted to perfection. It was so good. Not really a fan. Sad the waitress was nice but the food did not match the atmosphere. The place is very nice, tv's everywhere , it has a really nice play area. Not busy for a slow service though. Nachos were a pile of chips with dry cheese and chunks of chkn., wings however were good, I think it was the only good dish on the table. I ordered a chicken wrap with sweet potatoe fries and to me it was cold so I asked the waitress to please microwave the wrap for 1 minute ( I dont mind microwave as long as it's hot) , it took a while to come back but it was never microwaved , they decided to put it in the oven, the tray with everything, it came back to crispy at the top soggy bottom , sweet potatoes fries darker than before. We got kicked out for no reason! Spending money, tipping their bartender, who was awful by the way, barely attended anyone. Only focused on one person the entire time. Don't go here!!!! God for bid you tap a pool stick on the floor they'll kick you out lol!!! DO NOT GO HERE. They got upset cause I guess we were having too good of a time. I hate to write bad reviews. It's very rare that I do. But this one is warranted. I took my father and my 7 year old in one evening recently. We just wanted a quick bite and knew exactly what we wanted. Didn't even have to look at the menu. My son was so dead set on the sliders. Ordered right away. Ver sweet waitress. Time goes by... A lot of time. We see tables getting served that sat after us. Waitress tests to find out what's going on. Nothing. Wait more. Poor kid is starving. If he really didn't want those burger I would have walked out. Almost two hours. I never even got my food. These guys really need to get their "stuff" together. Worst expert I have ever had. Its great to watch a game but they need to greatly improve on the food. The wings were overcooked and looked and tasted like that dumped a box of mortons salt on them. Not edible. read more

We have been here many times and find this restaurant reasonable with decent service. For the UCONN Mens final four game Sat. Night we had a reservation for a table and we were required to be there by 4:00, which we were. Our waitress was great but after the first hour, we did not see her for over an hour and then very sporatically. We ordered nachos and they were not baked and ice cold. Also we could not get another round of drinks. We understand this was a super busy night but clearly they were understaffed. And they let a lot of people into the restaurant. Not a wise move to have a packed restaurant and not enough servers/staff. Hopefully management is paying attention to rectify this type of situation in the future. read more

The old Chicago Sam's.... Waiting to see if it's any good. I'll let you know what I think. Couldn't have been worse. Took foreverrrrrr to get two beers in bottles - 22 minutes. Waitress forgot about us more than once. Brought the apps with the sandwiches, had to get up and get our own flatware. The food was typical pub grub, and it came to the table lukewarm. See where I mention the waitress disappeared. Didn't dare ask them to reheat it as it would have added 20 minutes to the visit. Beer and food menu were good but went on a Saturday night and the band was so loud, you couldn't have a conversation with anyone sitting at your table. The waitress also ignored us for a really long time and was kind of rude. Lots of big TV's if you want to watch a game! read more

I come here whenever i'm in Cromwell, love their burgers and fries, it's great to be able to sit and watch some football and some air hockey and billiards. The food comes quick and the servers are friendly. Send the kids to the games section and you'll be able to enjoy he game, it's great family fun. read more

TL;DR Last Licks: 5/5 Murphy's: 0/5 We had an awful experience at Murphy's in Cromwell (AKA Chicago Sam's). A group of us were invited by a friend to support the local band *Last Licks*, and let me tell you, we will *never* return to this place, and neither will the few small groups that made up about 20 spectators. First off, there was a $20 cover charge, which we expected that since it was a live show. Doing the math, that's about $400 the bar took in because of the 20 invited people who came there to enjoy the band. But I really hope that money went straight to the band because Murphy's certainly didn't earn a penny of it. The service was *abysmal*. We waited 45 minutes just to be greeted by a waitress, and while drinks came out in a decent time, we were warned that the kitchen was "backed up." Fair enough, but we certainly didn't expect to be there for over THREE HOURS with no utensils and cold food. My friend had to wait to eat her salad because there were no utensils. To make matters worse, they brought me a cold plate of pasta without the BBQ chicken listed on the menu and offered me a to-go box hours later--after I had already explained I had never received the full meal I ordered! On top of that, they brought the wrong order to our table--a stir fry that we didn't ask for--and tried to charge us for it. They kept mixing up orders with another table. There was a fight a grown man almost initiated over politely being asked to take back his empty beer bottle. The entire time, the bouncer was too busy collecting cover charges to notice the chaos going on just feet behind him. All in all, this place was a disaster from start to finish. Went to Murphy's in Cromwell last night before a UCONN game. Both of us ordered cheeseburgers and fries. We waited for 30-35 minutes for the food. We asked where the food was and were told there was only one person in the kitchen. When it was delivered we had to eat it because we were in a hurry to go to the game but both burgers were very burnt even though we both ordered medium. I would never go back. read more

I had come in only a day in advance and asked Ryan, the owner, about bringing in a large group for 2 of my co workers birthdays. Not only did he reserve a table for us, but he made sure we had a wonderful night. Casey, the bar manager, and all the bartenders are awesome. This is a great group of people who work hard to make sure their guests have a great time. We ordered pizza, wings, and a few more apps and everything came out quick and tasty despite it being a busy Sunday football night. I would recommend this place to anyone.
