    Chicken tenders w/honey mustard
    Steven B.

I am always interested to try out a revamped version of a restaurant and here it is; "The Well" to "Nostalgia" with extra offerings and clean atmosphere. It is a relaxing vibe when you walk in and welcomed right away from the bartender. The service continues to be friendly and fast. The hickory horseradish boneless wings were fantastic and woke up my senses as the fresh horseradish taste came through! Shoestring fries were crispy and hot, while the chicken tenders delivered as expected. My wife and I will be back, I'm interested in trying other interesting flavor offerings for boneless and bone-in wings.

Large pizza - half buffalo chicken and half BBQ chicken

This was my first time at Nostalgia. Very good pizza! We ordered a large pizza - half buffalo chicken, half BBQ chicken. The crust was crispy and tasty. Lots of chicken. Would get it again. Perfect balance of spicy (Buffalo sauce) and sweet.

Forget about Kentucky chicken! This Krispy Krunchy fried chicken is an echelon above! I have been…read moredriving by this place inside the Gas Man gas station for years, thinking, I should try that chicken. Well, today I was in the area and feeling in the mood for fried chicken. I stopped inside. The chicken was served by a dedicated staff member. They had a heated cabinet with all the chicken and sides ready to serve. 4 $ and change got me a large breast, a thigh, and a surprisingly sweet honey biscuit. They also had several other options for sides, such as steak fries, mac n cheese, and some other items. The employee slipped my chicken into a styro-box and had me check out at the gas station cashier counter. THAT CHICKEN THOUGH!! WOW! I wasn't sure what to expect when I bit into the fried chicken thigh, but it was heavenly. The first bite through the crispy crunchy crust revealed a juicy tender interior. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Moving onto the white-meat breast, I was expecting a drier more chewy piece of chicken. No way Jose! That was the juiciest, most flavorful fried chicken breast that has ever graced my taste buds. The biscuit was honey-sweet yet buttery at the same time. I could devour a dozen of those biscuits in the blink of an eye!! Don't tell my cardiologist, but I think this fried chicken may be replacing every other take out item in my diet!!

"Down to the banana republics, things aren't as warm as…read morethey seem None of the natives are buying any second-hand American dreams" (Jimmy Buffett) Lunch at the Banana Leaf was a real triad of contrasts, as we had very positive reactions to their atmosphere and food but a very different experience with service. First of all, the décor is very pretty, with a thatched roof/tiki bar-like design at their small bar, painted designs and artwork on the walls, pretty light fixtures, sculptures, and Tiffany style glass. There is plenty of room between the tables, so you really have a sense of privacy and are not crowded at all. I love Thai food, and I loved my lunch. I ordered a small Coconut Tom Yum soup ($6), and it was a10/10. It had the coconutty mildly spiced hot and sour flavor I love and was loaded with chicken, A big bowl of just that soup would have been enough for my munch any day of the week. I also ordered their Spicy Eggplant with Squid ($18) stir-fried with bamboo shoot, snow peas, string beans, carrots, bell peppers and basil leaves in spicy basil sauce. It was served with a side of white rice. It was a great example of why I love Thai food because the flavor was fantastic. The portion was big enough that we brought home half for another day. Now, as far as we experienced, the real clunker here was the service. Perfunctory, unsmiling, non-engaging, robotic are words that come to mind. What a shame, because just a little effort really would have made a big difference.

I was visiting Connecticut last week for wedding and staying with some friends in Middletown. I arrived on a Tuesday night with a hungry stomach so we figured Eli Cannon's was an easy spot to hit up. I went here many, many, many years ago when I still lived in Connecticut (I live in LA now) but don't remember much of the experience other then what the inside looks like and man, it still looks the exact freaking same. We arrived around 8PM and got seated right away. The staff was super attentive with providing drinks and menus and the kitchen staff had the food out super quick as well. I kept it simple and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of french fries and really enjoyed it. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap tasted great and the hot sauce wasn't overpowering. The french fries here were crispy and tasted great, the perfect pairing for a late night bite (look, eating out at 8PM is late for me). Overall, Eli Cannon's is mostly a bar, but is also a pretty solid place to grab a bite to eat. The place truly is Middletown and with friends living nearby, I can definitely see myself returning in the future for some night time grub.

Great for the warmer months when joined by a couple of friends. I am giving this a 3 stars because the last time me & my partner visited we did not get the same welcoming attitudes which we experienced in our previous visits. Another weird vibe I got was when I was ordering another round of beers for both my boyfriend and I -- my order was taken last despite standing/waiting at the bar before other patron's. I was the only woman standing there so I am not sure if this had something to do with it.... Definitely a college bar-type atmosphere. I will say the crispy brussels & spinach and artichoke dip were tasty and cooked very well.

The food, at that time, consistently matched the atmosphere and made it a place worth returning to. Since its relocation, however, the experience has not been the same. Unfortunately, it's lost much of the charm and appeal that made it special, and I find myself no longer wanting to visit.
