Many years ago, I needed a kitchen faucet installed and I called Mauerhan Plumbing. The experience was positive all went well, without a hitch. To this day, the faucet works perfectly! Recently, I needed to replace a shower hose/head at our rental property. I immediately thought of Maurehan Plumbing. (I see their vans around town and wanted to support a local business.) I phoned Maurehan Plumbing to inquire about getting a plumber to replace a shower hose and possibly a shower head. (I sent pictures of both.) The plumber phoned me AFTER he completed the job and informed me that he had to pick up a shower head. (I was charged for the trip.) I informed him that I had mentioned both a shower hose and shower head. When I asked the total, he said it was around $200 but that he needed to submit the bill. Well, I received the bill and was beyond shocked that the installation was $580! I asked for an itemized bill and was told that it wasn't standard procedure. I am dumbfounded, as to why I was charged to pick up a shower head, esspecially when I included a picture of both a shower head and hose. I am asking for an itemized bill and refund for the difference that was not quoted. Moreover, and more importantly, Maurehan Plumbing failed to inform me of the charges beforehand and had I been informed of $580 charge, I would not have given my consent. Dishonest Thieves! They charged over $1,200 to replace a bathroom sink faucet. This is for labor only, not including parts! I bought the faucet myself from Home Depot. Despite being quoted $175 per hour, I was charged $280 per hour. What's more, they sent 2 guys for a 1-person job, without my consent, and they ended up charging me the hourly rate for EACH of them. One of the guys wasn't even doing any work, just watching the other guy. The cherry on top is that Mauerhan Plumbing's invoice tacked on a ridiculous $15 "truck charge" for who knows what. The plumber was sloppy and messy. He did not replace one of the backplates (pictured). When the plumber said he was "done" and walking out, I noticed that he neglected to replace the drain plug. I also caught him trying to steal the brand new drain plug I'd bought from Home Depot, along with some other brand new original parts that came with my faucet kit. Mauerhan Plumbing is outrageously deceptive, despicable, and dishonest. Hopefully this review saves you from having to deal with this nightmare. Run away. Do NOT give them your business. read more

I contacted Mauerhan for a second opinion on my 9-year-old tankless water heater after it displayed an ignition failure error code and stopped producing hot water. Another plumber had already identified the issue as a leaking heat exchanger and showed me visible water leaking inside the unit. When I called Mauerhan, I clearly explained on the phone that the unit had an error code and was leaking. When their technician arrived, I was not home, but I spoke to him by phone and told him I already knew the problem and that the leak was obvious. He did not attempt any repair and left, stating that the unit was too old, parts were unavailable, and the entire unit would need to be replaced. He said I would receive a quote for a new unit. I never received a quote or any follow-up. I was left without hot water and had to find my own solution. I contacted a water heater supplier, got a list of installers, and had a brand-new unit installed the very next day by another company. A week later, I received a bill from Mauerhan for $540 for "cleaning the unit." This makes absolutely no sense--why clean a unit that is leaking, cannot be fixed, and was never repaired? When I called to dispute the charge, the manager, James, told me it was my fault for calling them even though another plumber had already identified the leak, and then threatened to put a lien on my house if I didn't pay. This experience was extremely unprofessional: no repair, no quote, no follow-up, an unjustified bill, and a threat instead of customer service. I would strongly advise others to be cautious before using Mauerhan. read more

I needed help with pairing my Moen water detection device with the Moen phone app. This is not a job that a plumber regularly comes out to the house for, since the water detection device has already been installed, and I just needed help with working the app. However, in speaking with Shannon over the phone, she suggested I lower the sensitivity bar on the app and led me through the steps. Hopefully this will stop the false alarms that I'm getting and cease the shutting off of the water to my house. In addition to the over the phone help, she sent me an email explain exactly the steps we had taken. I had to have the shower pan replaced in my shower. Contacted Mauerhan plumbing and they said they could handle the job. The process couldn't have been any easier! And since the tile was bad, they suggested doing the whole shower. They had a skilled tile guy, Mario, and he was fantastic! They cleaned up each day, and kept me informed on every step ! Our water heater wasn't working so I called them and they told me they would charge a service fee of $175 to come out and look at it. I thought that was a bit steep but the lady I spoke to seemed nice at first and said that if a part is needed or if they need to fix it then it would be towards the cost of a flat fee. I was confused so I asked her again, Im like ok so if they cant fix it, its just $175 but if I need a part then that 175 goes towards the cost to fix? She confirmed. Anyway I had to wait 2 days to get someone out and when they did come, they could not fix the water heater. But then they had the audacity to hit me with a $511 bill. They charged me $511 to basically come to my house and tell me that they can fix the problem BUT I have to order a part and pay them another $1200 to have them come back next week and install the part. First of all, to charge someone $511 and not fix any issues is robbery. They know you are desperate because you need hot water and they can see I have two young kids who clearly need to take baths and that I would pay anything. Needless to say I called another plumber and he said that was the most ridiculous thing he has ever heard and that it should not cost that much to fix the water heater as the water heater alone isn't even worth that much. EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE. Mauerhan Plumbing came to my grandparents house to change out a cartridge and took forever to change it out. Plumbers seemed incompetent of what they were doing and watched youtube video on what to do. The plumbers seemed to spend more time on their phones than fixing my grandparents shower. After this visit and waste of money Mauerhan decided to charge for drive time and $135 an hour. Not to mention, they also decided to charge more than doubke for just the part itself. However when they sent their installer to install a commercial faucet for my kitchen they did not admit they knew how it worked, instead they proceeded to install it incorrectly only to then insist the faucet was defective. The next day, the same installer came to put in a different replacement faucet and then left for the day leaving the faucet loose and leaking! Owner Bruce was aggressive, defensive and insistent that I, the customer, was at fault and ignorant. I recently hired Mauerhan Plumbing to help install a new toilette. The job was simple, there were no issues, nor even needed to shut down the water to the unit. The plumber was great, he did the work well and in under an hour. I was very happy with the service, until the invoice arrived - I was billed for 2.5 hours, plus trucking fee, plus haul away fee, plus parts (we supplied the new toilette and all parts), totaling $360. When I disputed the number of hours, they said "It has always been our practice to bill the moment we leave the shop in Glendale... This would have been explained to you over the phone when you made the appointment." None of this was explained to me nor is it mentioned anywhere on their website. I am so happy with the outcome of my shower renovation. Actually, I hired Mauerhan after Home Depot contractors messed it up. The floor was too high and the shower arm was too low. They meant well, but did not know how to renovate showers in condominiums. Also, they had to drive all the way from Orange County everyday. Mauerhan Plumbing is local. They lowered the floor, raised the shower arm, and retiled. Now it is just the way I wanted it. Mauerhan plumbing knows how to renovate showers in condominiums. Not all plumbers know how to do that. They also renovated two of my neighbors bathrooms/showers. My neighbors were pleased with the results! Actually, Mauerhan Plumbing does most of these types of renovations at the Los Feliz Towers. My first experience with Jason and Joshua was excellent. However, last week Mauerhan sent two different plumbers out to repair my upstairs shower which was leaking into the downstairs living room. The plumbers were nice, but they didn't seem to know what they were doing. They cut a 2 foot hole in the ceiling, ran a bunch of water (which made it start dripping water again) spent a lot of time doing God knows what in their vehicle, put some caulking on the floor of my shower, charged me $746, and left me with a shower that leaks just as much as before, a hole in my living room ceiling, and a mess of plaster that I had to clean up. I would have been better off had they not come at all. It's astonishing, actually. The company called wanting to send another person out to "really fix it" I guess. I declined. I told them exactly what happened, but they made no effort to rectify the situation. I rarely write reviews, but I just don't feel their "service" was ethical and I wanted to let people know so this does not happen to them. read more
