Short review: I spent hours browsing and learning all about hard water and softener systems, getting quotes from various companies, and trying to figure out what I needed. Save yourself a bunch of time and money and go ahead with Chuck and West Coast Water Filtration - they offered a great price and value for an excellent softener and/or reverse osmosis water system. Long review: 1) Assessment: Chuck came to our house and did a thorough assessment of our water quality at the tap and also from our fridge dispenser. I had several plumbers come out to quote me on a softener system and they tested the water and said it was "very hard" but Chuck actually numerically graded the hardness, chlorine level, and also the parts per million of contaminants in our water. Our faucets and fixtures were covered in white calcium so not surprisingly, the water was extremely hard and he recommended the whole house water softener as I had expected. He also offered to add in a reverse osmosis water filtration system which basically makes the water taste and purity equivalent to bottled water for a minimal extra cost. Chuck was very knowledgeable (40 yrs experience) and relaxed thorough the whole encounter and we didn't feel pressured at any point. 2) Installation: After a couple weeks, Rhen and Alfredo came on time as scheduled and did the installation very efficiently over several hours - they were diligent and courteous throughout the process and kept us informed when the water would be out and explained how to use both the softener and reverse osmosis systems. They bought touch up paint to make sure the pvc pipe matched the exterior color of the house which was a nice touch. 3) Outcome: Immediate and dramatic improvement in the water quality for the whole house - there is no more white residue buildup on fixtures or showers. The old fixtures started working better as well. The reverse osmosis system was not on our agenda but we are so glad we got it - our water tastes so much better and the ice cubes in our fridge went from being cloudy to sparkling clear as well. A few weeks after installation, the rep came by and repeated the same testing that was done by Chuck prior to installation and confirmed the water was soft and free of any chlorine and contaminants. read more

I've bought three Puronics water softening systems from these people. Hands down the best water filtration company in California - very professional and straight forward people. Chuck comes out sees if it's possible to have the system fit. If there's extra work that needs to be done that West Coast (WC) can't do they will refer you to a plumber that will get the piping done.
