We could not have had a group that meshed BETTER than all of us. Our guide Henry clearly knew "the good spots" because we didn't stop anywhere that anyone else was... he made us climb down treacherous "root ladders" and walk through the coldest water up to our necks but his ideas were always SO worth it. I found Coconut Information and thought it was a great fit because our group loves coconuts! Ryan was so passionate and knowledgeable not only about coconuts but also conservation and sustainability - we were all amazed at the work he put in for his farm. It was so lush with all types of fruit trees and produce - we even saw baby ducks that had hatched just the day before. The experience was a farm tour, educational workshop, coconut tasting, and cooking class all rolled into one. We really enjoyed learning about the multi-faceted coconut and about Ryan's journey with the farm. The coconut noodles he made us were SO GOOD. Seriously blew our minds and can't wait to make it at home and share with others. Truly a fun, inspiring, and educational experience. We couldn't stop raving about it after we left. My husband and I had a blast today on our Maui Adventure tour. Jay and Allison were our guides on…read moreour 30 person snorkeling raft. Jay was a knowledgeable and capable captain. And Allison was super chill but full of info. We all felt really well cared for. We headed out toward lanai to snorkel but the swells were so big we headed back in toward Maui. The swells were a little scary but Jay and Allison were not phased. They handled them beautifully. They stopped at so many amazing whales breaching I almost forgot we were not on a whale tour. We also saw spinner dolphins. So cool! We got to go snorkeling in two different locations and both were beautiful. At the first location the coral was beautiful and we saw TONS of fish! At the second location we saw turtles and sharks. It was a perfect day! Thank you Maui Adventure tours and our awesome guides, Jay and Allison!!

Our driver, Eddie, was fantastic. He was entertaining and informative. The bikes were in…read moreexcellent condition, full helmet and the route is easy to follow. Eddie did a thorough job of making sure everyone was safe and how to navigate the roads on the bike. While we still highly recommend this activity, there were a few things that fell a bit short. With such an early start, the drive seemed to move slow with a few slow rolling stops to point out deer or a landmark. Sadly, the morning glow started and we had not yet reached the summit. Ultimately we parked and had only a few minutes to use the bathroom and get in place to watch the sunrise then boom back in the van. So that was roughly 2 hours driving in the van for less than 30 minutes at the summit. It was very rushed. It would have been nice to gotten there about 20 minutes sooner to watch the glow start. Dress in layers. There was a quick photo op on the drive down but no stop at the visitors center. The bike ride down. It was convenient to be able to leave a bag in the van with the layers of clothes and jackets no longer needed. We enjoyed the self guided having the chance to stop at our leisure and take photos. It is definitely a braking ride and be smart to use them. The fact that the law prohibits biking through Kula meant we had to stop, load the bikes, get back on the van and jump over the town. That takes a away a significant chunk of the ride. A nice stop in Makawao for coffee and a bite to eat. Having done this ride before the law made for a disappointing comparison. I would recommend this activity, however I'm not likely to do it again until the change the law to ride through Kula and arrive to the summit a few minutes earlier.

On our vacation to Maui last week, we took trips out to the sea with Sea Maui twice. Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!

The Irish gentleman who pre-briefed us before leaving for the tour had a great sense of humor and set the tone for our excursion. Once aboard, the Captain and his crew were polite, cordial, fun loving and efficient. The food was great and the crew busied theirselves insuring everyone was comfortable, had drinks and the proper snorkeling gear. We saw many, many whales and at least 12 displays of whales big and small leaping out of the water. The hour long snorkeling provided the passengers with a myriad of tropical fish and sea turtles. We even had one try to climb the ladder into the boat. The fees for the excursion were fair and we definitely got our moneys worth for all we saw and participated in. I highly recommend The Sea Maui if you are looking for a great experience for you and your family or tour group.

The view going up the mountain in the van was gorgeous, but when you're biking down is even better. The quality of Maui Best Downhill's bikes are of superior quality--with wide seats that are comfortable and the choice of 7 gears. It was easy to descend the mountain on their Trek bikes. I was easily able to soak in the views of the Maui shoreline while also keeping my balance. The bike ride took about 2 hours for me and my friends to complete-- I'm sure you could finish in less time than that. We stopped multiple times to take photos and use the restroom. This tour is definitely worth getting-- I'd say it's worth even more! If you know how to ride a bike, this is the activity for you! Soaring down Haleakala is an experience I'll never forget!

You won't be going fast at any point and you will need to reign your horse in constantly to keep it from stopping to pluck at plants the horse wants to munch on, but the monumental views and still countryside will make it all worth it. The trail was very clean so the one abandoned rusty tire near the end should probably be removed. Ray is an expert equestrian and has interesting stories and jokes to tell all along the way. Eddie is very personable and handles the admin of the ranch along with, as both Ray and Eddie like to joke, the weather. One thing that was little annoying was that as we were driving away Eddie approached us and rapped on our car window asking if we had remembered to take care of Ray. We did, she went back and gave Ray a tip, but we didn't have any cash or wallets with us during the ride because we were told that whatever we brought would have to go in the saddlebags anyway. We likened this rapping on the window as we were about to drive off to a waiter coming out in the parking lot to ask if we forgot to tip, or a valet rapping on the window as we were driving off to ask for the same. Eddie could have earned that tip for Ray if he had guided us out of the parking lot - we ended up scraping the rear bumper on the lava rocks that are directly behind where the cars line up to park.
