Excellent company to go on a dive with. During COVID-19 times, this dive shop went the extra mile to make sure everyone on the boat was comfortable and safe during our trip to Molokini Crater. That includes your own dry boxes to put your stuff in, always cleaning the rails with disinfectant, and cleaning the restroom after someone uses it. Awesome job all the way around on that front. The check in process was pretty cool too, our captain was great and had a lot of energy before we took off (not sure how people still do that at that hour). Our divemaster guidemaster, Kim was great. She took the extra time to make sure we were all comfortable with one another. There were 3 groups at a time for this trip, so we had her as a guide in the water, she was kinda just as giddy as we were when we were under water and she was really good and making sure we were all together, even when one us went off the "trail". Had a great time with MDD. These were my first dives after my certification and the entire crew was helpful and very patient with me. We dove at Airport beach for a DSD with a friend that was experiencing diving and headed to Molokini Crater for our other dives. MC was such a great experience. The life we were able to see and the amazing blue waters were awesome. The crew was great and I loved that our dive group was small and only included 5 people. We were planning our honeymoon in Maui and looking at all sorts of adventures. In the Maui Revealed guidebook, Maui Dreams Dive Co. came highly recommended. We had never dived before, but being adventurous we decided to take the plunge! We inquired online and then booked with someone over the phone. We were curious as to what to expect and the folks at Maui Dreams explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions. We selected the intro dive and then opted to do the 2nd dive right after. Leading up to the dive, we had confidence that we had chosen a great honeymoon experience. When the day came for our dive we arrived at the shop around 7am. We were greeted warmly by the staff at the shop and our dive instructor helped get us fitted for all of our gear. Then we went out to the dive site . Upon arriving at the site had an informative lesson on all of the dive basics. It was very helpful in teaching us what to expect, how to operate our gear, and how to communicate underwater. When we finally got in, we were excited but a little nervous. Getting used to breathing through the regulator was tough at first, but after a few minutes I calmed down and it became easier. Once underwater we performed the various basic skills with our instructor. Then we were off to explore! We checked out the reef and saw all sorts of awesome sea life. It was unbelievable to be diving! So exhilarating! It seemed like we were done before we knew it, so we surfaced and made our way back to the beach. Thankfully, we had scheduled a 2nd dive right after the first! This is totally the way to go if you are doing your intro dive. Be sure to schedule a 2nd dive because it made the experience so much better! We hung out and had some lunch, and then went back in after 30 minutes. For the second dive we simply went off exploring! We checked out two reefs, and our instructor took us to spots to show us various eels and exotic species of fish. I had my GoPro on a selfie stick for the second dive and our instructor offered to take our photo underwater! I also got a ton of cool footage! We loved the second dive b/c we were more comfortable underwater and we were able to take in the experience without being as distracted by learning to perform the basic skills. When our air ran out and we had to head back we were a little bummed. We were having so much fun! This was our favorite honeymoon experience and it got us hooked on diving. We are now looking into getting certified back home in CA. After our dive, we spent a good amount of time chatting with our awesome instructor (I believe his name was Carey). He was super friendly and awesome; We really enjoyed our time together. We even tried to book another dive with him before we left but he was off for the weekend. All in all, this experience was top-notch! Staff was super friendly and helpful and the experience was amazing! Go check out Maui Dreams for your dives in Maui. I took a refresher dive course with Javier at Maui Dreams Dive Co on December 8th, 2017. Though I am SSI certified, I had not dove in 17 years. There was a fair amount of foot traffic in the shop when I arrived with a friend on Tuesday afternoon. Maui Dreams Dive Co was recommended by Toby, a snorkel boat operator who says he regularly rents tanks from the shop. After what was less then probably two minutes Javier made his way over and gave me some options. He basically recommended a refresher course and part of an introductory course for beginners. I was reluctant at first because it sounded like I would be grouped with a bunch of beginners...and that was true. Javier, who earned his Master Diver credentials from his VA benefits and would be our dive master and instructor, explained that there would be a maximum of four student divers including myself in the group, and that it was likely the others would be beginners or first timers. As it happened, I joined another couple, Jake and Kaitlyn, from North Carolina. It was there first time to Scuba. When we arrived at the dive site, Uloa Beach, Javier gave a 40 minute lecture in which he reviewed setup and testing of the equipment and hand signals, how we would enter the water, and the dive plan, and other important topics. During the lecture, he had me set up and test my own equipment, while he prepared the equipment for the new divers. It was an effective review course. My concerns about diving with two first time divers were unfounded, as Jake and Kaitlyn were a natural team under water. Both our dives were smooth and uneventful in the best way possible. The first was about thirty minutes, the second about fifty minutes. We reached a maximum depth of 50 feet. Javier encouraged Jake and Kaitlyn to get certified so they could take advantage of the world class reef and wreck diving off the Carolina coasts, which he was personally familiar with. I spoke to Javier for a few minutes after Jake and Kaitlyn departed, asking if there was anything he felt I should focus on. He was generous with his time and answered all my questions. I LOVED this boat dive company!! Don't book with anyone else!! They put my faith back into divemasters as I previously had a terrible experience with a different company on a different HI island. I'm so grateful to the captain sharing his stories about growing up in a small town near where we currently live. I dove a week in Cozumel and then it just sat for several months until I came to Maui . The first day of diving it had a really bad free flow that I couldn't stop. I had to borrow a regulator to make the dives. I took it to Maui Dreams after the dives and Michelle who is the Tech at the shop luckily was in. She appeared really busy, but graciously took the time to look at my reg and was able to make several adjustments. She fixed it on the spot and had it working perfectly for my dives the next day! She obviously knows her stuff!! I was really grateful to use my own gear the next day, but also was especially grateful because the dive shops in the SF Bay Area have over a month wait time for service on gear. I tried to find "Maui Diamond" who I went scuba diving with. I'm not sure if "Maui Dreams" and "Maui Diamond" are the same company or not. My comments are definitely related to "Maui Diamond" (couldn't find "Maui Diamond" on Yelp) I'm a moderately experienced certified scuba diver. This crew is great (my favorite is KimPossible (nickname :) ). Great boat. Full service crew. They take care of all the equipment, give great pre-dive instructions, etc... Before/mid/after dive snacks/lunch! Big, clean boat! I highly recommend these guys! My only criticism would be that you don't always get to dive your tank, meaning if you are an efficient breather, you sometimes come up with quite a bit of air left in your tank. I would have preferred that the scuba master direct those who run short on air back to the surface and continue to dive with those who still have plenty of air left. read more

We just finished up certification for 3/5 of our family members on this trip and did it exclusively with Maui Dreams Dive. I obtained my referral open water PADI certification with Kelly, and she is the BEST! I decided to do this certification on my birthday and Kelly made it extra special! This was our first time diving on Maui and we were excited to dive with this company as they had pretty great reviews. First off, booking was fantastic and both people I spoke to on the phone were friendly and helpful. We were told to arrive at 6:15AM to check in. Several people showed up late (as late as 6:41AM) and were welcomed on the boat. I understand the need to be accommodating with tourists and customer service is important, but diving requires following directions and it just set a negative tone for the trip. During the check-in process I was asked 3 times if I needed fins/wetsuit. I understand how things can get hectic but it did not inspire confidence in how the dive was going to go. We were split into 3 dive groups with 8 divers to 1 dive master. Everybody uses air at different rates but there was some confusion during our second dive when a diver ran low on air and the entire group started up for a safety stop. After the first diver ran low on air, the group mostly milled under the boat until each persons air ran out. It seems like a more efficient dive profile could have been created and still allowed for early surfacers. I understand that every dive is different and the crew has to accommodate ever diver. It just seemed that there was some disorganization and poor management that could have been fixed by stricter enforcement of rules and more thorough briefing. Overall the crew was very friendly and accommodating almost to a fault. Probably a great experience for divers just looking to get in the water but we don't feel that the dive enhanced our skills or was as efficient as it could have been. read more

Everyone in the shop was amazing from helping us to set up a replacement BCD (christmas present), explaining why our Suunto computers had bad pressure sensors, and recommending new computers that we demo'd. We are so happy we choose to go shore diving with Maui Dreams. Chase was our guide and he was Awesome. He was very knowledgable about all our dive spots and had our safety in mind at all times. Booked the two tank Lanai boat dive with Maui Diving and they partner with the Maui Diamond Boat. The boat was an average size and fit about 18 divers. The boat and staff were all great! They had plenty of snacks and drinks on board and the crew were always polite and courteous. The ride out to Cathedrals 1 was about an hour and twenty minutes. We did our first dive there with Yoyo (who was very kind, professional and safe!). I did notice my regulator mouth piece was a bit broken before getting in the water, but it felt ok in my mouth. When I jumped in, I think it broke even more and one side was nearly ripped off. As I descended, it got worse, so I alerted Yoyo who ascended me back to the surface to check on it. She said it was ok for this dive but she'd switch it for the next. I did have to hold onto it every once in a while while in the water, but overall I was fine. The cathedral was an incredible site. Very beautiful, and yes it is overhead diving, but there is a clear entrance/exit and the site doesn't require a cave diving cert. We stayed around 45-60 feet for the first dive. Before the second dive, Yoyo switched out my mouthpiece and we were good to go! The second dive was off of Lanai and had lots of beautiful coral walls. We even saw a fish that is super rare and mostly only seen at depths below 100ft. We stayed around 40-50 feet for this dive. Overall, my partner and I really enjoyed our time on the Maui Diamond and would definitely recommend it to others. My only advice with this place would be to double and triple check the rental gear, and if you're unsure about anything, ask while you're still on the boat. read more

Kate and Rachel made it fun to pickup and fit gear properly they also reminded us that the gear is a 24 hour rental so for a very small price we could get a second tank each and dive the next day at essentially no cost. I contacted them at the last moment. They did not have availability for a boat dive but helped me with a shore dive, something I usually do not like to do. Turned out this was a fantastic dive. Dave was the dive master and he took care of everything including carrying and preparing all the equipment. Parking was not a problem so all I had to do was wear the stuff and jump in the water. Dave is the best dive master I ever had. He gave an excellent briefing, reviewed the signals, and even taught us signals about specific types of fish which turned out to be useful because we saw many different kind. I wanted to get my Advanced Open Water certification, and after much research, I decided to go with Maui Dreams. The staff here is very friendly and very patient in answering all of my questions before and after I booked the class. They have great communication through phone and email, sending you the book for reviews before the dives, confirming the boat dive locations that you want, and incrementally charging for class as materials were sent out. Remember to bring your log book: it's a requirement for the Advanced certification to log at least your certification dives! The first day of class, we showed up at the shop at 7am and checked in with our instructor, Curly. Let me just say that Curly is the best! He's very patient, funny, detailed, and just an overall amazing instructor. He quickly went through our paperwork, knowledge reviews, and took pictures for our dive cards. We were diving with a scooter, so he also went over the preparations with us before taking us to our day 1 shore dives. It was great also that we were the only ones taking the class. First Day Dive 1 - Navigation: soooo boring, but it's a requirement for the Advanced certification. Curly went over the requirements with us on shore and made sure we are comfortable with the compass and the dive plan. We went in, did our navigation tasks, and we were done. First Day Dive 2 - Scooter (DPV): soooo much fun!!! I was a bit scared that I would shoot up in the air, but the scooter is so easy to maneuver with your body (it's set between your legs) and it goes so quickly :). We were around St. Anthony's and was able to zig zag along with a sting ray. First Day Dive 3 - Night Dive: We went in just before 7pm at Wailea and saw some sea turtles, a giant lobster, baby octopus, and many other cool animals that you don't normally see during the day. It was a bit creepy staring into the dark, hoping a shark doesn't come out of nowhere and attacks you (haha), but I stayed close with Curly and my boyfriend and it was a really fun experience. We were in the water for just over an hour. A bit long for me as I was getting nauseous at the end. Second Day Dive 1 - Deep: We met with Curly at the Maalaea Landing to hop on Maui Diamond for our boat dives at 6:15am. Get there early and parking is just $4 for the whole day. We were on the boat with 8 other divers (Maui Diamond) and it took us about 45 minutes to get to Molokini. There's a lot, A LOT, of snorkelers at Molokini, so it was really nice that we were diving and was able to stay away from them. The water is super clear here, and it's so amazingly blue as if I was in an aquarium. We went to about 95 ft and I didn't get narc'ed. Second Day Dive 2 - Photography: The boat went back to Wailea point and we were able to see some pretty cool things and take pictures of them: harlequin shrimp, green lion fish, frog fish, eels, etc. We had a really nice point-and-shoot digital camera that also took quality videos and the pictures turned out pretty cool when we got back to the shop. I like this dive because you get to keep a CD of all of the pictures, and Curly gave us his cool GoPro videos also. We got back to the dive shop around noon on the second day. Curly quickly went over our paperwork and gave us temporary printouts of our Advanced certification, and we actually got our Advanced dive cards in the mail just a week and a half later. Talk about efficiency! We had a really great time diving with Curly and working with the Maui Dreams staff. Thanks for the great experience! read more

It is by no mistake that this place has 5 stars with yelp. I did my research before I took my vacation to Maui and booked Maui Dreams based on the positive reviews. I was with my entire family for the week with my brother and I both having our open water certification. We had two family members who did not have a SCUBA certification so we opted to stick together in the 4 person "Introduction to Diving". This was originally setup to allow us all to snorkel at Molokini and get used to being in the water and then we could all dive at the second location together. The day of the our trip, one of the non certified divers in our party became ill and was not able to make it with us. Once we arrived, they allowed my brother and I to dive at Molokini since we were already certified and our 3rd non certified diver snorkeled at Molokini. The team was great with non certified diver in our group as she was not yet a teenager. They were patient and encouraging when going through all the drills and training. The entire time diving they pointed out eels, octopus and other exotic fish. They were able to communicate the with a simple underwater writing board. Overall, the entire staff exceeded my expectations and would not hesitate to book another dive excursion with Maui Dreams Dive. read more

Staff is very FRIENDLY, HELPFUL & ENTHUSIASTIC. That's hard to come by these days, especially at dive shops. They were so great with getting our Nitrox tanks all set and checked out. They carry a variety of rentals, including dive computers. Their prices are reasonable and cheap, too! Did I mention you can RENT NITROX TANKS?! Haha, that's a huuuge plus considering how few dive shops have them available. Rental cost: (as of 03/29/12): Air - $5 NITROX - $10 Random note: They carry "Sink the Stink" which is great deodorant for when rinsing dive gear, especially wet suits.
