I brought my 2022 Tacoma in for service today, still under warranty and I knew my negative battery terminal had some corrosion and expecting them to clean since Toyota does a complementary 10k service of inspect air filter, "Battery Terminals" so- so and so on. When I returned home, I popped my hood and of course they didn't clean the terminals. I called service center and they said they don't clean the terminals that's an extra charge.... WTF? I asked him then what does Check battery terminals mean, he to make sure they are there, WTF that's when I hung up. I have one more service under my warranty but highly doubtful I'm ever going back. read more

Parts division untrustworthy. Called for a shift cable bushing in the morning and they said they have the part for around $6. Went in the afternoon to go pick up bushing and they tell me i need to buy the whole cable for around $330 because my vin # says i need the whole cable. All over the internet says u can buy bushing, so i was on Oahu and pick up bushing at servco Toyota for $6. Bunch of at maui toyota. So I ordered a Tacoma with Rodelia "Ro" - and in the midst of the supply shortage and production slowdowns- she held one for me - with no deposit. And when it came in - my name was on the key and the truck was reserved for me in spite of long waiting list. I got a great price on the truck and service was phenomenal. I went in for my 6 month service. Computer system was down due to a nationwide hack. My car was completed & brought into parking lot at 10:45 I know they were having a delay with their paperwork due to not having their system up. I went in after 15 minutes ... & then again after an hour - same answer "they're working on paperwork." I finally got my car at 12:30 (That's a total of 1 hour 45 minutes to complete paperwork) Also, There were 2 other customers who came in at the same time as me in the morning. When their cars were done - it took about 30 minutes before their paperwork was completed. This is the worse service I have ever received and I've been going there for many years. I brought my car in for a scheduled visit for a recall they found last time I was in for scheduled maintenence. I took time off work, got a ride, etc for the service. Went in to find a plastic light lens for a friend's car and they wanted $30. I asked for the part number and they refused to give me the part number and stated it was "for their protection". Y'all just know that people can find the OEM part for a way more reasonable price online. I looked up the part name online and found it for $9. The worst Toyota dealer experience I have ever had. My car had a warning pop up, car lost all power while driving. Had car towed to the Maui Toyota service department. Car sat in shop for two days. On the third day, I reached out for an update and was told that it's just now being looked at. Was told it would probably be a $190 fix, wasn't told that was the diagnostic cost. Was then told an entire system needed to be changed and the cost would be $1100. After doing some research on the problem, I reluctantly agreed to the work. Received call today was told my engine wouldn't turn over because "off market brand" battery was dead and it was going to be an additional $200 for the battery and $50 for install. I was thinking by now the bill would be around $1400, was charged $1600 + and told that the diagnostic wasn't included with the overall quote, and on my receipt it said "the customer requested" the battery. Buyer beware. The pisspoor communication and overcharging makes me never want to purchase a Toyota product again. Not cool, Toyota! Gouging right before the holidays is horrible. read more

The phone will always be ringing. No one ever answer the phone. No one ever return calls. After your service they text you instead of calling. When you text them to the same number they never reply back. What happened to a good customer back then? And the cashier that's taking the payment be patient especially for those elderly. 4.18.12 was the date of my first Toyota purchase and definitely not my last. SALES: My first purchase was through Roger via a recommendation from my cousin who purchased through him. He's a friendly, no pressure guy and very popular lol. My second sale went to Sixto, recommended by my folks. This guy is even more popular and busy as a bee. Very down to earth and kept me abreast of my vehicle's importation. SHOWROOM: There's big glass windows everywhere for great natural lighting and views of the manicured foliage, great for the long process of buying a car. The only area I don't care for is the office where you sign papers with the finance person. It's tight, windowless, dreary, and old. Give this person a nicer space please! INVENTORY: Naturally it's hit or miss being that it's not a huge dealership like in Mapunapuna. You can view inventory online including incoming vehicles. SERVICE DEPARTMENT: Everyone in the service department have been friendly and professional, from appointment reminder calls, to check in and to check out. The waiting room in the service department is small, especially knowing how many Toyotas are on the road. It has a flat TV, soda machine, complimentary filtered water and coffee. There's a courtesy shuttle that'll take you anywhere you want to go in the central area - Kahului, Wailuku, Waikapu, Waihee. TIP: They do safety checks for all cars, first come first served basis 1-3pm Monday through Friday. OVERALL: Good service and fair & competitive pricing. read more

My experience with Maui Toyota's service is Ok, my salesperson was awesome. It's the quality of the product that sucks. I have a 2016 Tacoma and the paint is peeling right off. Was told by Maui Toyota that no program exists as of yet to repair the problem. Called Servco in Oahu and same thing. So I called Toyota in the mainland and they said any repairs would be at the discretion of the dealer. There's even Facebook groups of Toyota owners who are frustrated with the peeling paint. A lot of them are having their issues fIxed by their dealers but this isn't tHe case here in Hawaii. I am really disappointed in the quality of the paint on my vehicle. As much as I loved Toyota before this I cannot Say that I would recommend buying Toyota to any friends or family. read more

Dead Battery: My wife talked withToyota service personnel and confirmed with Maui Toyota service parts that they had a new battery to replace the dead battery in our Prius. With the help of AAA, she was able to take Prius to Toyota service in Kahului , Maui as instructed. Upon check in, they took the car in and then advised her that they might be able to replace the battery at the end of the day or the next day. She can wait but may not get to it today so would have to leave car till next day.(by the way limited or no shuttle service) She asked the manager for help, telling him that she lived 35 miles away and had no transportation. The manager was not sympathetic and defended the service personel. After waiting a while she decided to take car and go elsewhere. When she went out to check on car, she saw maintenance take the dead battery from work area and put it back in car. Wow, they could put a dead battery back in car but they refused to put the new one ?? We have been loyal Toyota customers for 30 years, I was shocked that the service personal and the manager were rude and did not care about safety. What kind of dealership is this? Oh, got the battery replaced by a car maintenance shop in area for not only 1/2 the price but in 2 hours. Good luck with Maui Toyota service. read more

As a new customer of Maui Toyota, I couldn't be more impressed. My clock spring was repaired for $200 less than I was quoted from a local Kihei repair shop, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that getting my car serviced included 6 months of roadside assistance, free towing within 25 miles, and other perks. Although my sun visor was broken after picking up my vehicle, all it took was a call to Nick to arrange for it to be repaired. Nick was EXCELLENT in providing me with timely updates as to needed repairs in a courteous and professional manner, and the ladies at the front service desk were friendly and also provided excellent service.
