I would like to start off by saying that I have bought and traded my cars with Karmart for the last 7 years. The sales people are persistent and can make hell of a deal. This review is for the Karmart service side of things. Karmart service does not answer the phone. You have to call them at least 6-10 times for them to pick up and this is a consistent issue over the years, and I learned why-- they have the phone ringer all the way down. I stood at the desk to turn in my keys and you can hear the faintest ring from the desk. There're all laughing and giggling talking about lunch in there so they can't hear it. Second I got a quote for over $1000 to replace TWO of my brake pads and rotors. They told me that it was dangerously low and I should leave it with them over night to fix it-- I said no because I felt like that price was outrageous. I proceeded to pick my car up and he tells me that he could offer me a discount of $200 and lower the price to $800 and some change. I still said no --I went right down the road to a mechanic and he quoted me $500 to change my TWO brake pads and rotors said he'd only need it for 1 hour -- vs karmart who told me they'd need it from open to close. $438 is what Karmart wanted for labor & $524 for "parts" the other mechanic said that that's a ridiculous price as my parts for my car costed him $300. Be warned that their parts department prices are outrageous and I will never use them now that my complementary services are done. read more

I took my 2019 VW Jetta twice to Karmart Maui and they did not have the new gas cap to replace the old gas cap. The two times I took my Jetta there, I told them that there is water leaking under the dashboard to the floor. Now my electronics are not working properly. Karmart told me that it could be the AC drainage being clogged up from debri and roaches. Karmart said if that is the cause, the warranty does not cover the labor and replacement for the electronic parts. I live in Wailuku and Karmart Kihei is approximately a 19 minute drive/10 miles away. Every time I took my car to Karmart Kihei, It takes them a whole working day to service my car. Most of those services were oil changes. I also had to call them to get updates on the status of my car. The services at Karmart need to be quicker and communication there needs to be improved. read more

Poor service after sales. A pre-COVID experience: we bought our truck here in July 2018. They were, of course, accommodating during our shopping experience to make the sale. After the sale closed, however, it was a nightmare. We had to hound them just to hold them to their promises! They dragged their feet shipping it; making excuses about why they couldn't. Once we got the truck, there was rubbish (crumpled up paper, stickers, dirt, etc.) left inside! We paid for the extra coating, but suspected they didn't apply it after seeing red dirt on the exterior. Again, hounded them to ask & it turned out they didn't. Hounded them for a refund, and again, it took forever. After being fed up, I called multiple times wanting to speak to manager about my concerns. No call back. The poor customer service would not be an issue if the vehicle was delivered as promised. But, we had MULTIPLE issues which could have been easily prevented. Beware. read more

Brought my car in to get my breaks looked at. When I got it back it was making a wierd noise. So I called them and explained that I wasn't happy with the services and wanted them to recheck because it sounded like there was something loose. I was told it would cost me another $150 for them to tell me what was wrong with it before they would fix it. Brought it to a new mechanic and he confirmed they didn't tighten things up properly. And he didn't even charge me for the work done after I told him what your company had said to me. Good to know there are mechanics on island not looking to rip people off. Also your mechanic left a coffee cup with cream in my car which made it end up smelling like rotten milk. When they were told about it, they had nothing to say, no sorry, no remorse, just wanted me to spend more money to fix what they didn't do correctly the first time. Bought a used car that one of the salesman named Casey told us was great car with no issues. Less than 250 miles, ac controls quit working and the power door locks also failed. This guy is a crook and shouldn't be selling cars. I know you buy used cars as is, but that is ridiculous. $2000 dollars to fix the issues. They have nice trucks at high prices. I visited the lot three times between March 25 and April 4 and looked at several trucks that I tried to buy from Kendall (SP?). The staff is friendly and somewhat knowledgeable about the trucks they are selling. However, I found that this is one of those dealerships that caters to folks with iffy credit who will basically pay their high asking prices as long as they give them a manageable monthly payment, IMO. I was told to expect to pay 10% on any financing they do on a used vehicle; and the sales manager who desks you is part snake oil salesman, IMO. Once they discovered I was a cash buyer with great credit who expected a fair price I got the "your dead to me" treatment. They would not return calls or texts, they would not give me an appointment etc. In the end I bought a 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie in perfect shape with 10k miles in California for $33,566.00. With $1870 shipping from Hawaii Car Transport (included dealer pick-up, see Rob Aiola), and Hawaii 4% use tax, I paid $36,853.00 out the door and landed for a truck Karmart wants $45,800.00 for ( see stock #H2938). Worst customer service ever. The only reason they get a star is because the finance manager was awesome. Him alone would get 5 stars for his service. I extremely dislike runarounds, just be straight up with me. When I asked, how long more(because we had a meeting to attend and our kid was at the cages). I was told numerous times "we're almost done. We're almost done". Y'all could've just given me a simple time frame... say, 2+ hours. So we could've communicated with our people. Our car wasn't detailed when we took it home, it was late and the detail guys were gone for the day. So we were told to bring it back the next day or whenever is most convenient. I inquired on how long it would take as we are a very busy family, and was told "about an hour". We return the next day only to be told the detail guy wasn't even there. Mind you, we purchased a gas guzzler and we don't live in Kihei. I called a day prior to bringing back to make sure we had time to get it cleaned and sure enough, a salesman had said "it takes about an hour to get it detailed." We bring it back yet again and they told my husband they only have time to wash the outside and wouldn't be able to polish off all the water spots, and do a quick vacuum. "It usually takes 3-4 hours to detail a car".... well, I'll be damn, why wasn't I told that in the first place? They offered to pick up my car from me and bring it back but seriously, y'all.... gas! They didn't offer to refill my gas tank for all that none sense. I was also told it was just gonna take a couple weeks to get my military plates swapped from my old truck. It's been over 2 months, I followed up numerous times with them and no one has had the decency to call me back and follow up with me on the status of that. I don't got military plates just because it's a benefit, I run my military plates because my husband has did his time in the service and is still currently serving. So we PROUDLY run our combat veteran plates. SMH. As soon you sign those papers, they dump ya and forget ya. read more

So much complications getting my 2 trucks from them. I traded my 2016 Jeep Sahara for two 2016 toyota tacoma. They said they got me a deal. One of the trucks is higher because of the jeep leftovers but he said they'd spilt it into both so I wouldn't feel it. One truck almost the same monthly payment as the jeep and the other truck is affordable. What really got me upset is that the finance guy said "we had to add the gap or else you wouldn't be able to get the loan" first of all gap is voluntary, second they lied to me and basically forced me to sign it. They said they're looking out for me because it's a huge loan but they didn't have to trick me they couldve explained it better. And after driving off with my truck my husband pointed out that there was a Crack in my windshield! Size of a quarter on the passenger side and there was a silver star on the corner on the driver side so someone knew about it and didn't say anything while I was purchasing it. My saler said he would look into but never got back to me. Found out its almost 1k to replace the whole windshield so more money I have to spend. My fault I should've checked out my truck more. I just wanted to express myself to warn everyone else to observe the vehicle your buying and that gap is voluntary it has nothing to do with your loan or help you get financed it's great to have don't get me wrong but don't trick your customers. I tried to talk to the manager or owner about 3 times to express my feelings and explain the situation but since no one wanted to help me talk to owner I'm here typing this on here instead. I'm grateful that they paid for my truck to get tinted but i just feel like if they couldn't get there ends to meet then next time tell me and I would've walked out of there instead of now having huge loans and a broken windshield that I need to fix. This is my honest experience. Update: 9/5/17 more problems happened. They sent me a certified letter lying that they tried contacting me several times and this was the first time receiving something that I owe them. Bad service. Honestly the managers and finance manager doesn't care and doesn't help with anything. They pass it on to the lower guys so they can deal with us. I'm so upset over this. I've dealt with jim Falk motors few times and never had this type of problem and island Honda I never had problems just karmart. Karmart makes jim falk motors look like princesses. I would not recommend going to karmart. Only nice service is locals that work in safety area and some in service that has no control but listened and show sensitivity and concern. Worst dealership on Maui that I've dealt with so far. Never again. 9/18/17; found out they were holding my reg as hostage because I owe them money even if it's their fault for not asking me how much I owe, telling me to pay my monthly payment and not telling me I owe until I get a certified letter saying they'll send me to collectors. Horrible service, horrible business. Spent 10$ to get a duplicate so thanks for that too. Accommodating to get the purchase but crickets later. IT YOU BUY A LIFTED TRUCK FROM THEM, HAVE SOMEONE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF VEHICLES TO GO WITH YOU or with lifts!!! Our lift failed and our insurance had to pay for AMP stupidity!!! We could've died and they dont a give a crap!! Our sales man said "eh shit happens" manager at AMP, or karmart returns no calls or emails!!! Our truck wasnt the 1st truck to have their lift fail!!! So we need to pat for our own parts when they say your lift is covered, its NOT!! The repairs from AMP (Alpha Motorsports Performance) didn't come with diagnostic print out cause they forgot so our insurance asked them wheres the printout of what they did and they couldn't even provide that!!! So whose to say that they didn't break it?!!! So much back and forth and blaming That this the worst place to purchase a vehicle!!! Do yourself a favor and go with the other guys, Toyota, they are a bit more professional, caring etc.. cause Karmart, Alpha Motorsports and give a crap!!! read more

A couple Major complications but easily handled. For starters I found the car on turo and booked from there.. first complication was the website seemed to have a tiny bug at the time and booked my vehicle under circumstances that are usually not available.. I was notified via phone call and was told the bad news followed by good news that they were going to honor my booked vehicle anyway.. hug relief as this would have ruined my only few days on the island. 2nd is more of.. I had no idea there was traffic on Maui so I called and told them I was going to be late to pick the car up because the last car get a released around 430.. I call them and ask if they can stay a little longer becauaw im running late and they agreed. I show up at 445 lol and they gave me no problems, gave me my keys and I was off to see Maui! Returning the car... my ride back to the ferry canceled on me so we were stuck in kihei and had to be in lahaina before 5pm. I wish I had remembered her name but sweet heart offered us a ride to the nearest bus stop which was like a million miles away because the shuttle had left. I went into this dealership twice and it was high pressure the whole experience. I knew what I wanted and was ready to buy but I had a lot of questions on the financing. I wasn't willing to buy unless I had all the numbers. They wouldn't answer my questions, it was all run around unless "...I was ready to buy that day?" I have spoken to others that even found they will happily get people upside down on a purchase with their pricing and loans. I wouldn't go back in there again if you paid me.
