This place is my new medical marijuana dispensary. I was pretty upset and in a fair amount of pain…read moreby the time I was able to redirect after my previous dispensary decided to close early. I had been traveling over an hour to get to the location when this happened. I'll say I was in a mood. Ascend changed all of that. My friends and I were covered in snow and the gated entrance gives a nice reprieve to brush off the snow and stamp out your boots before entering. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted by an employee that was very polite and friendly. He helped us out and even brought me my glove I had dropped. I was able to quickly find what I wanted on their touchscreens. So many great deals! I ended up buying edibles and flower. I was then led to a hallway and into the dispensary room. To your immediate right is the line for medical marijuana. The employee was already waiting for me and was so helpful in explaining the medical marijuana card to me. I ended up getting some great deals, received some free edibles as a gift for being a new customer and was really pleased overall with the service I received. It's also just off the blue line at Logan Square which I was looking forward to a much shorter go home. Place is really chill and pleasant. Very clean and well lit. I HIGHly recommend this specific location for all of your medical marijuana needs.

Where to begin. 1) Be sure to check the THC level of the…read moreproduct you purchase against what the website advertised. I'm a Med patient who recently purchased Mac v2 with 28.14% total THC. Then saw same website advertise the same product strain with 31% total THC. Ordered that and brought it home before checking THC percentage, which ended up being the same 28.14%. Honestly, it felt like an intentional bait and switch. 2) My husband (also Med) and I have been burned by the caveat on their website that they can't guaranty what a client ordred will be there when that client arrives. Why? That doesn't make any sense to punish everyone for the sake of some flaky clients. Selling and keeping customers happy is how to make money -- which appears to be the only reason they are in this business as it doesn't appear they believe in and/or live up to any ethos or altruistic mission statement of helping people with medical issues initially stated when this industry began in Illinois -- and they can always make their money selling it the next day. Too much work maintaining a website? That website is the bread and butter of your business, WCC! Maintain it properly! So, if you are traveling a great distance, call before beginning your journey because what you ordered may not be there upon your arrival. 3) Illinois Medical is like a bad joke as they don't consistently grow strains that are known for their medical attributes such as Harlequin 1:1 vape, which I could use at work because it gave relief without the high. The growers are all chasing the latest thing with new dumb names instead of maintaining tried and true strains that have their own unique properties 4) This dispensary doesn't have curbside anymore, so you have to go into the building and pull down your mask and deal with people who seem to be demoralized, unhappy employees who don't enjoy people socially and are unable to manage a smile and who no longer do the basic quality control checks to see if the THC level or what you ordered is the same as what was pulled from the back. WCC feels like a McDonald's without the old staples just pushing people through to get the cash without investing in their customer base to create a return customer. 5) What happened to the former employees who had amazing energy and people skills? All of my favorite budtenders are gone since it was bought out by some other company. What is the criteria for hiring people? No older bud tenders? When did that happen? There used to be diversity in age as well as everything else. Maybe have someone older budtenders with medical issues who would be more caring and compassionate to Med patients. I always tip $5. Why, I don't know because this last budtender I dealt with didn't quality check the THC levels. 6) Instead of moving to a building that had better parking and access, someone decided to just expand this location. How about moving to one of the many EMPTY former bank buildings in this area with a preexisting, built-in DRIVE THROUGH instead of expanding in a location that has pushed out the surrounding businesses including a disabled adult day program. Do they care? Would they even know where they are located? They had to visit to formulate the location's expansion plans. Is this place locally owned? No. I'm sure there are other other vacated bank buildings in Homewood. If not, they could have considered the old US Bank building at the corner of Vollmer and Governor's Highway. Question: What does Medical mean to dispensaries in Illinois? Evidently not what it means to the Med patients. I am disappointed by this buyout, expansion, and loss of friendly knowledgeable people who could at least convincing pretend they cared.

My card came up for renewal at the absolute worst timing, while I was heading out for a medical trip to another state. Innovative Wellness bent over backwards to squeeze me into the schedule. For that, I'll be eternally grateful. Due to COVID, the physician was able to see me via a secure audio/video session. The appointment went smoothly. The physician went over the benefits and risks of medical cannabis. I knew all this info already being a current patient, but super helpful for those just starting out! We also discussed CBD and different strains and their effects. The team was incredibly informative and truly dedicated to their patients. Within a few hours, my renewal was accepted by the state and I was printing off my new medical card. If you TRULY have a medical condition, I highly suggest Innovative Wellness. They know the system inside and out and operate like a well oiled machine. Plus, you avoid that recreational cannabis tax as a medical patient. You also get the ability to grow plants at home, with some limitations. Dr. Khare is a top-notch physician who truly knows how to Innovate in the healthcare setting. Keep up the great work!

However the people here at Innovative Welness made the process much more seamless and explained every step along the way. The same is true for the renewal process. I I contacted them, received a prompt email and voicemail message. Everything was set up quickly and efficiently the following day with follow up notes emailed to me. I worked with Elaine who did a wonderful job. Great customer service and I would highly recommend for anyone looking to either obtain their medical marijuana card or renew their card.
