GREAT PIZZA - NO BATHROOM One of the oldest pizzerias in Downtown Hollywood. The slice for $5.00 was a sight to see but the whole pizza was a freaky creation that only could be imagined in Greek mythology. Yet, it was in front of me glistening under the bright lights. Upon first visual, I ordered one giant cheese slice which was heated up and plated into a big box bearing the generic red pizza baker print. Took the beast of a slice outside to the patio and laughed at it's enormous size next to my hand. The wife shared the slice with me. The crust had a nice char, sweet tomato, but the garlic taste was lacking. The box was properly discarded into the black stationary pizza box drop. Lots of mixed reviews at this pizza place. Not able to eat inside but they have several tables on the front patio which is hot but great sights. While waiting for my pizza slice I saw some of the largest pizzas each at 26 inches. My slice literally was unable to fit in the box and the end was flopped over just so the box could close. The giant slice was thin with a nice crunchy edge and not too oily just how I like it. The best $5 I spent all day. read more

Employee was extremely rude. Im trying to order a simple pepperoni slice well done and he asked me What? 3 times even though I was speaking loud and clear? I pay $6 and change for a mediocre pepperoni slice. Then they have all the condiments/seasonings out except the cheese, I ask for the cheese they say it's $1 for 3 little packs. My son and I stopped in for a quick bite during one of the downtown car shows and I'm telling you now - They make al some really great pizza! This is pretty authentic New York style pizza and the slices were huge. You can fold it (as I prefer to) or even eat it with a fork. The crust is thin & crispy and flaked when I folded it. The sauce to cheese ratio was almost perfect. You may initially pause at the price, but as you can see in my photo - they're worth it! We probably waited around 8-10 minutes, but there were a number of orders ahead of ours and they do a great job getting the orders out the door. *Edit - Were just back from a week in Hollywood and made 2 stops at Mauro's for their huge slices of delicious pizza! The wait times were no longer than 3 minutes and the price is definitely reasonable. The interior of the restaurant now has new signage which is much easier to read. It takes a lot to get 5 stars, and personally I dont give many. But when you find this place and try their pizza, you will understand. Yes it looks good, but good isn't 5 stars. According to Yelp, 5 stars is great. Our repeated trips over the years have always been great. Marco's Pizza maybe one of the best pizza I ever had the only thing I don't like about Marco's pieces the fact that everything seems a little bit too rushed too fast but for the most part it taste really good really fresh. Mauro's is a must-try in downtown Hollywood. Their claims to fame are gigantic slices of pizza and a 'no fuss' experience. No to utensils, yes to napkins. They used to be cash only, but now accept credit cards and other forms of payment. A big plus: they're open until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. I would estimate one slice of pizza equals two slices elsewhere. This is NY style pizza! They have 10-12 toppings to choose from. I like the beef, but I think I wound up with sausage. 10.13.21 I stopped here on some late nights out for a filler to finish the night. The service is quick and the pizza is meh. They have tables out front on the sidewalk. They're open super late. While it's not near to top of pizza I've had its not bad. Just ok pizza. Hey, what do you want for late night pizza? The slices are pretty big. It's now way over-priced $6.50 slice w/1 topping, minimal amount of toppings & bland flavor however the crust is still thin and consistent with what it always was. A 1-topping large pie is $40 (Lucali Miami prices) , most likely not going to come back. If you're willing to pay these prices I highly recommend Nicks Pizza in Sobe Miami. It's one of the best pizza I've had and a local spot. The crust is good. The pizza sauce is really good. The cheese mixture is delicious. I have nothing negative to say about the pizza. I forgot to mention the slices are big even when the pizza is cold is good. . . . The Mauro is a little narrow pizza shop in downtown Hollywood. They only make pizzas and they are good at it. You can buy it by the slice or an entire pie. The place to me is more of a take-out. Inside the shop, there is not very much space for tables but they do have a long counter against the wall and stools facing the counter. I did see outside some tables and chairs. Not the friendliest place around and they don't have to be because they have a good pie and they know it. The place is a hit or miss. If you visit the shop one thing we locals can all agree on about this place is that you walk away with a good pizza and a good story to talk about lol. read more
