They are somewhat near where I live, so it is convenient. They have a variety of toppings, but I usually stick with cheese. I think the quality of the cheese is excellent. The crust has the right amount of firmness for me. Just for background: I used to work in Dania Beach and would regularly drive to Hollywood--past about 10 or 15 pizzerias--just to grab a slice from Joe's Old School Pizza. Unfortunately, I haven't worked in that office for the past two years, so I hadn't had a slice of Joe's in quite some time... at least not until recently. While running an errand in Cooper City for my wife, I spotted their familiar sign and decided to pop in to see whether they were affiliated with the Hollywood location. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they were. Nelson--an extremely affable pizza chef--told me it was the same operation and that he used to work at the Hollywood location. I told him how happy I was to meet him, explaining that I'd been eating his pizza for years, and he insisted I try a slice since it had been so long. This is the kind of place that uses Grande cheese and truly high-quality ingredients. It's the kind of place where they genuinely care about the food--and about the people they're feeding. I accepted graciously, and with my first bite, I was transported to another universe: a perfectly crisp crust with no soggy undercarriage and just the right balance of cheese and sauce. This place--and Nelson--produces a nearly perfect pizza. If you're looking to support a locally owned business that cares about its customers and delivers top-notch pizza, run to Joe's Old School. One last thought: I believe the true measure of a pizzeria can be found in its most modest offering--the plain cheese slice. Never had food from this restaurant and ordered for delivery. Ordered a pepperoni pizza and a chicken parm dinner with a note for heavy sauce. All of the food was really dry. Pizza was okay but seemed more like pepperoni cheese bread. Chicken parm was sooo dry (they did not my follow note) garlic rolls did not live up to the hype that they advertise. Three rolls, no flavor, only a little bit of butter with garlic on the bottom of the pan. For the very small cost of adding flavor and moisture through sauces this could've been a really good meal. Well I've heard good things about this place from fellow New York natives so I just had to try them out. It definitely is a no nonsense type of pizza joint. It gave me the old Bronx vibes several ovens by the door, pleasant people knocking out pies like nothing and flavor to match. The slice that I had while in violation of my keto diet was well worth it. It was hot crispy cheesy and perfectly sauced. The crust was crunchy but not too crunchy to where you'd have gum damage and the cheese was just right as well. It's not the biggest of places inside but they get the job done when it comes to speed and flavor. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a legit slice to go check them out. I've been wanting to try this local pizza place for awhile but it was very average pizza as far as I was concerned. The sauce was sweet, the crust was on the hard side and there really wasn't a lot of cheese on the pizza. This was about as far away from NY style pizza that it can get. I saw that they've gotten some really good reviews so I'm not sure if it was just an off night or if it was because we got the pizza during the last hour it was open. May be because of the in between time of receiving the pizza once it comes out of the oven, but I'll stick to a very solid 4 rating. This is the restaurant my family and I have ordered the most from since the pandemic hit. Can't go wrong with pizza and can't go wrong here at Joe's. The first time I had it we took advantage of their lunch special of 2 slices and a drink for about $6. Their slices are large. Straight out the oven, ate it in store and it was just delicious pizza. Everything from the perfect thin bite crust to the balance of the tomato sauce, and gooey real cheese and pepperoni toppings. It was a great meal for $6. They also have other lunch specials like meatball and chicken parm sandwiches that I still need to check out. So over the past couple months we've ordered their massive (only comes extra large) pizza pies a few times, and they've been great. A couple times I thought they undercooked their pizzas and the crust was too thick and that's my issue with the consistency. But the other tiles when they are on point, the pizza just hits the spot perfectly. I think a 3 is perfect for Joes because i think it's middle of road American Italian food. There are better spots and there are worse spots. We ordered from Joes recently and got a little bit of everything. We got a classic pepperoni pie, a Sicilian (thick) cheese pie, meatballs, pasta and garlic rolls. Pretty standard order. The classic pie was alright. I thought it was a little salty but decent pizza. The Sicilian was (in my Opinion) a little too cheesy. It was kind of like a puddle of cheese in the middle. It also left the edges a little bare and dry leading to a tough crust. The meatballs were tender and good but the sauce was missing something. It tasted like sauce, nothing special that stood out. My daughter liked the pasta so that was a plus. The garlic rolls were the standout item. We really enjoyed them. Big soft and pillowy with that rich garlicy buttery flavor you want. I'm a huge fan of pizza and I'm also very picky when it comes to pizza. Lately I've been on a kick of trying new stuff and this place is located really close to my house. So I got the family meal, which includes pizza, wings, garlic rolls and a salad for 35 dollars, what a deal, that's pretty good value. So, cheese pizza, the cheese and sauce were really good, lots of flavor, not overloaded or oily, a great balance. The crust, a little hard for me but taste wise was really good, so it worked out. Now, the chicken wings were the surprise for me, they were fantastic, cooked perfectly, a nice season to them, I enjoyed them very much. My wife ate the salad, she enjoyed, hard to mess up a Cesar salad. Now, the garlic rolls, were a little hard but they had a great balance of garlic oil and Parmesan which made them an enjoyable experience. The food took 2 hours to get to me. When I called the restaurant to inquire, they were clueless to the amount of time I was already waiting, she also didn't seem to care very much by her short/defensive tone and was in a rush to hang up the phone and after waiting almost two hours, also says to me; well you know the restaurant is about to close so Uber eats does that at almost time of closing. I love Joe's pizza! Defiantly a hidden gem in the Embassy Lakes Shopping Center. It's a small restaurant that offers 2 Huge pizza slices and a drink for $6.99 EVERY DAY. Now, I only go for the specials and it gets me full every time. They have a small sitting area outside and inside but I usually just order and pick up. Their special can be shared by two people as the slices are HUGE. Service is great every time and they have a small table for the condiments like red peppers and Parmesan.
