I met Meredith through a friend who I will be thanking every time I take a selfie that I like. (Like the ones I post in the swanky dressing room of MAVEN after getting my hair did by Meredith.) Meredith completely transformed my hair. Like, completely. If you know me (HI GUYS!), you have seen my hair all kinds of colors--blonde, brown, black, red, a weird orange hue (at-home whoopsie) and now back to blonde. I went into Meredith's salon five years ago with hair that had obviously been around the block. It only took one visit to understand that I had made a forever relationship. (And not just because she's amazingly talented, but also because she's a total sweetie.) In that short first visit, she was able to make miracles happen without having to shave my head. She turned my dried, frizzled, sad locks into healthy hey girl heyyyy hair. I have gone to her ever since that first visit. And when I moved to Austin for two years, I kept it in the fam and visited her sister Jordan at Milk + Honey's downtown location. (She's great too - hey grrrrrrl!) My most recent visit with Meredith was the most exciting. I had mentioned I was feeling a bit blah about life, and she encouraged me to treat myself to a new look. Literally the worst coloring experience. I have seen Lindsay at Maven 8 times and every time there is an issue but I wanted to give her benefit of the doubt of us getting to know eachother and what I like. The first 4 times I went in there she had to re-do the coloring because it was off but then we got to a point where things were stable for 3 coloring sessions. Though during two of those sessions she managed to ruin two of my shirts because she didn't seal off the neck right and color got all over my shirt. But, I still went back, after today, I will never go back. I went in and asked for roots, highlight around my face and gloss (which she has done before several times and by now should know exactly what to do). But she royally messed it up. She did something with the highlight where it came out looking like I had taken a bag of kool aid in my hair. It was absolutely terrible and she laughed and said 'oh, well that is different'. I asked her to fix it. So then after sitting there another hour and she was 'fixing' my hair, I get back in the chair and my hair looks like complete shit. It has strips down the back of red which doesn't make any sense, all she had to do was color it but clearly she didn't do it correctly and the highlights in front has bright red at the base of the head and then fade to a blonde. It's absolutely terrible. I don't know what is going on with Lindsay but she cannot stay consistent and seems to have no idea what she's doing read more

I have been getting my hair done with Danai for just over a year now. I always wanted to do balayage but was always afraid of drying out my curly hair! She did such an amazing job with my color. I was super happy with every phase of blonde I went thru (remember if you're going from a brunette to blonde, it may take a few sessions to keep your hair healthy) now I have so many beautiful dimensions and i get so many compliments on my color. She is also really skilled at dealing with curly hair. I am mixed so it takes a stylist who really understands curls like she does. Danai is the top stylist here...she is a co-owner with Meredith, whom I hear is great as well, but I have to say Danai is pretty much the only person who has touched my hair in 10 yrs+. She is flexible, takes direction & input well and has nothing but the best training and professional judgement that leaves you feeling like you are in capable hands...even if you aren't sure the direction you want your hair to take yourself, she will get you there. My last adventure, I went from dark brunette to ombre (blonde) for the summer. She did a color correction on me and the color & blowout was perfect. It lasted without fading much, but it's time for fall now, so I've just gone back and had her do a non-traditional color. You can see my purple ombre in the pic I just uploaded ....the before & after are crazy. I LOVE IT!!!! I had never done a wild color on my hair before but it's crazy how good it makes you feel to explore with these !! I wasn't sure the hue I wanted, but I brought a pinterest board and Danai was able to pick something that matched the best shade from all my choices. So far the color still looks insane , I get compliments from complete strangers everytime I go out ... gosh I am going to have a big head soon from this purple hair. I'll post an update of my purple to red plan for fall and the results. Oh, one more thing - Maven does email confirm appointments with you, which is a really nice service that I haven't seen other salons do in the past. Very professional.
