I was driving down to St Louis to catch the Blues game. Litchfield was on the way and me & my buddies heard good things, so we decided to check it out. When I first entered, I thought it was weird that we couldn't use the soda fountain ourselves, the cashier filled up our glasses herself. But then I found another soda fountain that we could use, so I was glad I only got water and not a soda. When I sat down, the chairs were comfortable and the tables were clean! The background music they had there was a major W, great tracks! The food options satisfied me as well and the desert options were vast. My favorite thing I got from the buffet were the potatoes and their cheese pizza. Grilled chicken was great as well, had the chocolate ice cream as well which was a W. Also had their green beans & broccoli which were great as well. All that food was 15 bucks! I'M GONNA SAY THAT AGAIN 15 BUCKAROONIES. For that price and the amount food options we had plus the great quality of their food(waitresses were really nice as well). 5 stars man without a doubt in my mind. First time here, staying next door so walked over for a early dinner, friendly greeting, buffet in the dining room but we chose to sit at the bar, fast service, generous pours, and huge dinner portions, you better be hungry, and the salmon was the best I've had in a long time, moist and fork tender. I would consider this place a solid spot for dinner in Litchfield. The portions here are generous. The appetizer of fried mushrooms can easily feed two people. Each dinner comes with a huge salad in addition to a choice of toast or home made bread which I would highly recommend. The steak I got was made well and the quality of beef they use is decent. They have a really nice buffet including a large dessert bar-- the ice cream machine is well maintained so it's never runny. Good fried chicken, salad bar has lots to choose from. One thing I learned about small towns is I cannot trust Yelp reviews. I can't believe this place averages 4 stars, must be mostly local people reviewing it. I wanted to give it one star but the employees were so nice and that definitely counts for something. The price was cheap as well for an all you can eat Sunday buffet. There was a ton of food to choose from but none of it was very good. I mean ham is just not supposed to be that color. The pizza was hideous. French toast is so easy to make and so is bacon and eggs and they weren't good either. On a bright spot, there is soft serve ice cream with toppings. I felt violated all afternoon after eating here. Absolutely horrible food nothing about this place is good. You can't even take your food you order home with you. I had to leave my entire meal there...they give you a little bitty bag that rips because they are so cheap to put your food in. I had gravy on my steak and a baked potato with sour cream on it how do you expect people to carry that home in a junk bag. My son had a pony shoe that was extremely overpriced for what he received and also had to leave it on the table no way to bring that home . Spent $100 on dinner for my family and nothing was really even edible. Buffet food was horrible there. Who in the hell would want to pack it up and bring it home?? This is why they told I couldn't have a box for my leftovers because I might steal food....there is not a thing there anyone would want to steal. 3 of the 5 of us have been sick since we left. This place used to be really good, but has gone down the toilet. The last time we were there we got the buffet and my husband found bits of plastic in their cheesy potatoes. We notified a waitress who said she would tell the cooks and did nothing else for us, not more than one sorry and took our plates. And we usually have the same server every time we go there. Janie is an exceptional server. She always has a smile, she takes the time to make sure we have everything we need, and she always keeps our drinks filled. She is a very attentive server to all of her customers. It is not your typical bar since it is brightly lighted and more diner-like, very spartan with sports tvs. The one waitress was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. The fried pickles are good.
