Their out of this universe homemade rolls
    Orion M.

This place will forever be a classic to go to! Very traditional American hometown style buffet with a good variety for all! Very well priced and the staff are always there to help you with whatever you may need! The atmosphere is of a peaceful and inviting family environment for any occasion desired. The number 1 rule when going is "Never go and forget a homemade roll!" The best way to have them is swimming in their honey butter! Will always keep coming back for more and more!

I was driving down to St Louis to catch the Blues game. Litchfield was on the way and me & my buddies heard good things, so we decided to check it out. When I first entered, I thought it was weird that we couldn't use the soda fountain ourselves, the cashier filled up our glasses herself. But then I found another soda fountain that we could use, so I was glad I only got water and not a soda. When I sat down, the chairs were comfortable and the tables were clean! The background music they had there was a major W, great tracks! The food options satisfied me as well and the desert options were vast. My favorite thing I got from the buffet were the potatoes and their cheese pizza. Grilled chicken was great as well, had the chocolate ice cream as well which was a W. Also had their green beans & broccoli which were great as well. All that food was 15 bucks! I'M GONNA SAY THAT AGAIN 15 BUCKAROONIES. For that price and the amount food options we had plus the great quality of their food(waitresses were really nice as well). 5 stars man without a doubt in my mind. This is gonna be the regular spot for me & the boys to stop at on our way to St Louis.

I would consider this place a solid spot for dinner in Litchfield. The portions here are generous. The appetizer of fried mushrooms can easily feed two people. Each dinner comes with a huge salad in addition to a choice of toast or home made bread which I would highly recommend. The steak I got was made well and the quality of beef they use is decent. They have a good selection of beer and a full bar including a selection of house wines. Staff is very nice there as well so next time you are in town swing by and give this place a try

    Homemade roll

We have to drive a little ways up I-55 to get to Mavericks but it's worth it. Service is always great, restaurant is clean. They have a really nice buffet including a large dessert bar-- the ice cream machine is well maintained so it's never runny. Good fried chicken, salad bar has lots to choose from. Everything we've tried has been good-- the rolls are awesome. Definitely recommend!

Hello, we have always been Maverick. The building was a Ponderosa before we took possession. We have been in this location for 8 years. Thanks for the interest and have a great weekend!

We read about this place in our Route 66 guide. Traveling from Chicago to Santa Monica on a Route…read more66 journey, we earmarked The Ariston Cafe as a place to stop and we're glad we did. We sat up at the counter and had a great experience dining with other travelers and locals. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful even taking a photo of us behind the counter. The entrée and pie were great!

Inside the decor is…read moreauthentic to the 1950's, but this is obviously well cared for, which was very apparent when I saw the counter swivel stool-chairs: they look brand new! I was on a road trip up from Florida to Wisconsin with a friend. We were going through Springfield, Illinois, so we could visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum & Library. So that's how I ended up in this neck of the woods. Needed a spot for dinner and this popped up as an option and sure glad it did. My friend & I both opted for the Fried Chicken dinner and this place makes the best fried chicken I've had in decades! OMGOSH! The meat was fully cooked, but still so incredibly juicy. The crispy skin and coating was unreal, it was so good - it was truly "finger-lick in' good". While I'm borrowing that old slogan, The Ariston Cafe's fried chicken is like the fried chicken ideal of perfection. They have a classic salad bar and that hit the spot, especially on a road trip where you're not often getting enough veggies. I'm writing this review some weeks later after getting back home. If the place had been average, I wouldn't bother, but when a reminder to do a review popped up, I had to do this as the waitresses and cooks deserve it, as do the owners & all the staff. Waitresses were all nice as could be and helpful. It's like walking back in time when you go inside, and it reminded me of great restaurants in the area I grew up in. If I make it back up that way again, I'll plan my travels to include another stop in at The Artisan.
