Looking at the menu, I was thinking about Chicken Wings or a Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Then I started chatting with three blue collar workers at the counter, they recommended the Fried Chicken and a Ham & Cheese Sandwich. They actually said, everything is really good. The restaurant was packed at 12:30 PM, so it must be true. When the waitress came to take my order, I ordered a Pork Fritter Sandwich. It basically was a Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. The waitress said I make a good decision. It was on the thick side and the crispy coating had good seasoning. I only had them add, pickles and onion. It was served on a hamburger bun Instead of the chips that came as a side, I paid for an upgrade to fries. The fries were super crispy and skinny, reminisce of old-time Steak & Shake fries. The service was hospitable. It was obvious who were regulars and which one of us were first timers. That really didn't matter, we all got the same attentive service. Lucky for me, I was able to get a seat at the bar. My adult beverage was a draft Flight by Yuengling. For lunch, I went with a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with a side of Fries. The tenderloin was crisp and had good flavor. However, it had a perfect shape, so I could tell it came from a bag and was not done in house. I enjoyed the thin crisp fries. A roll of Paper Towels served as your napkin. Typically I prefer linen, but for a dive bar, paper towels do the trick. I also liked that the Wooden Duck has hooks under the bar. Hooks provide a safe place for purses and jackets. I got a giggle when I used the mens room and the owner showed his political views by having a caricature of the governor in the urinal. They even had a witty disclaimer, so you shouldn't be offended. I got a second giggle when I looked around the bar and realized, about 60% of the guest were an alternative lifestyle. There were some police having lunch (likely the entire force, at least by weight)...and one of them stared me down as if he had never seen a veteran, former DoD executive, in a collared shirt, and khakis in a public restaurant before. [Yes I was the only pepper in the salt]. The actual restaurant staff was excellent, and welcoming. Our server was a whirlwind of effecient hospitality. I got a pork tenderloin sandwich (and later the same day was invited to join a pork tenderloin sandwich group on FB)... ordered the fries, not clear if that came with them, didn't keep the reciept. My wife got a cheesburger that she was very happy with. My tenderloin was crispy, juicy and a bit too salty in a good way. This place is a definite keeper on the list of places we will be willing to travel to over time. Perhaps if I come back often enough, Barney will get used to "others" visiting his little fiefdom.

White linen table cloths and black linen napkins. The tables are protected it a sheet of butcher paper cut to the exact size. It protects that pretty white linen. As a centerpiece, they have tacky artificial flowers. Table would look better without it. My server was quick to greet me. I ordered a Pino Grigio as my adult beverage. When she delivered my wine, I said I needed more time to look the menu over. When she came back, I asked a couple of questions and went with the chalkboard special, Meat Cannelloni with Spinach Pink Vodka Sauce. It came with a side salad and a breadstick. I chose Bleu Cheese as my dressing. The dressing was thick, creamy and had chunks of Bleu Cheese. The lunch special had two cannelloni's filled with meat and overly covered in a rich pink vodka sauce blended with lots of sautéed spinach. The sauce had good flavor, they just over poured on top of the cannelloni. Luck for me it came with a breadstick to wipe up the extra sauce. My server was attentive. I had the wedge which had Marcoot cheese curds and Wayfare dressing. It was the best wedge salad I've ever had. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. It was an hour and half before we got our food. People who came in after us got their food, ate, and left before we got our main dishes. My wife had the shrimp and I had the picanha, which they call a pub steak. Everything was cold, the vegetables were ice cold. The picanha was not cooked properly as the fat cap was not rendered at all. It was hard and I had to take it out of my mouth. There was also little no Maillard because it was cooked on a girl but it didn't taste like charcoal or wood; again that's just preference but you should know what you're getting. I would have made our server aware but we didn't see her again for another fifteen minutes. If the potatoes and vegetables had been hot then they probably would have been good. We ended with the Oreo cheese cake. This was very good and the cheesecake was excellent and the crust was very well done as well. It was a bit rich for my personal taste but it was executed well and my wife really liked it. I will add that I don't know if this is the fault of the kitchen or if our server forgot about us and it died in the window, the kitchen should have still caught it if this was case. Overall, we were not impressed and won't be back. Drive the twenty minutes to St. Rose or head to the metro east. Even if everything was the result of our server it reflected very poorly on the restaurant as a whole.
