Been to this location twice, for tires as well as oil change, brake maintenance, etc. They've done an excellent job, at very competitive prices, and have always finished before the estimated time. Scheduling online is also really easy and convenient. They have free wifi, and a big plus for me is you can walk next door to Panera to eat, have a snack, and work on your computer while you wait. Went in for the price for a set of new tires. I was misinformed about costs / what is and is not included in the cost of the tires. Worse, most of the (wrong) info I got was only because I had to pull details out of the employee about the costs, tread life and road hazard warranties and rotation services. Later, the manager explained the guy was new.... but the manager was within a few feet / earshot of the employee as we spoke (and was NOT taking care of a customer, so if his employee was new, I'd think the manager would want to be listening in to check that the guy is doing a good job). And the walls were completely bare / there were no signs or marketing materials on the counter that I could have read that might have contrasted the employee's misinformation. or simply explain things. Later, the manager explained 'we're doing a remodel'. I wound up leaving with a handwritten list (some the sales guy's writing, some mine) of individual prices for tires, install, TPMS, balancing, road hazard warranty, a ballpark figure for disposal fee, etc, all written on a small yellow post-it note. No total as much as I came in for and pushed for a total cost. They did say they'd meet any competitor's price. But I hadn't heard of / wouldn't dare risk my family's life on most of the brands they sold and even for the brands I knew (Pirelli and Cooper), I'd bet it's like mattresses - no 2 stores sell the same model, so you can't comparison shop. Contrast to a call to Costco for the same thing. Within 5 minutes, I had an EXACT total cost for 4 new Michelin tires (heard of them? I have), explanation of what it included and from our long dealings with Costco, knew everything would be correct. And it was lower by far from Mavis' price. Sure, I could go back to Mavis and spend time debating about a price match But why waste the time? I'm not really sure how Mavis has grown - speaking with corporate about how bad my experience was at this location, the guy said they went from 60 to 400+ stores over the last few years. Maybe they are going with the Crazy Eddie method of selling. Remember them? Electronics stores here in the northeast. They advertised our prices are insane / we'll beat any price. People would go in there thinking that the shelf price was a good deal. While in fact, if you don't go in with a competitors ad, you were going to pay way more than other places. Yes, they would match a competitor's ad.... if you know to bring it. And 'our prices are insane' doesn't mean they are low - more like 'our prices are crazy high unless you bring an ad'. I guess Mavis is like that. They'll beat others prices... if you bring in an ad. Otherwise, they are clearly more money. Crazy Eddie grew their number of stores very large also. They didn't fold because of thinking they could fool people (they did that very well). They folded because the founders were gaming the stock. There's LOADS of other companies out there selling tires. There's no reason you want to go here. read more

As I noted in my first review my gut tells me this place is OK. Unfortunately they fell short for me again. On the plus side, the people there are nice. In addition, they gave me a substantial credit on my bill to make things right. That shows that they care and that perhaps my experiences are the exception. That said, this time I took the same car back for new tires, balancing, and alignment. I had an appointment at 11am. I arrived at 10:55AM and they said it would be done in 90 minutes at 12:30pm. When I arrived back at 12:30pm, the car was not even in the garage yet. They indicated they would get it right in. 90 minutes later at 2PM, the car was still not done. Another 75 minutes later at 3:15pm they said they were just completing it. Another 65 minutes later at 4:20pm, the car was done. Total time 5 hours and 20 minutes. Further, I noticed the steering wheel was off center when I drove home. The car is 5 years old so there might be some give, but it was more significantly off. I took it back in the next day. It was very quick (and free) and they fixed it. I still stand by my feeling that I think this is a good place and I will give it one more try in the future. I give it a 3 this time even though the experience was painful because the gave me the substantial credit for the wait. read more

Brought in my SUV because the right rear wheel ran over a curb and made a repeated clicking sound afterwards. They looked at it, saw that a weight had been knocked off so they replaced it... for FREE! No charge for the part or for their time/labor. They charged us $200 to park the car for 7 days at their location even though we did 100% of the work at their shop (two new tires and an alignment). We told them that the insurance company wanted to look at the car first and they did not care. When I asked for some reduction on this charge, they didn't care. The location has an abundance of parking and this charge was just ridiculous. read more

My car would not start after entering a 711. Next door was Mavis Discount Tire. Immediately a worker told me to pop the hood, looked around inside and began to offer me a boost. When the boost did not work, he stated what he thought it might be and gave me a choice to go inside and ask Ed to take a look at it or have it towed. Restarting was not an option. After talking with Jake while taking the report, I decided to leave it. The very next day I received a call from John stating the problem and the cost. He told me my car would be ready later that day and he would give me a call. He called and my car was ready. Not only did they fix the problem but my car runs better than when I pulled up. Would definitely recommend Mavis discount tires, came in to get my BMW X3 checked before a long road trip down to Florida. Unfortunately, I know very little about cars/parts etc but they were willing to talk to my dad (in Florida) on the phone and send him pictures of what needed to be done to ensure I wasn't being ripped off. They simplified and explained everything to me and worked with me to get a great price and the work was all done in just a bit over an hour!! Very friendly & and customer service oriented. Ripoff on a criminal scale! 2/25/17. My son had a bulb out in a front headlight. I told him to go to Mavis, it shouldn't be more than $30. Guess what??? $280!! They said they had to put in an HID bulb and that it costs $150. Even if that were true, the other $130 to pop in a bulb??? Total rip off, never again! read more

Will never come back to this place. Completely chaotic. Scared of what their work will be like. We came here out of convenience. Car was dropped off at 10:30am and was supposed to be done by 1:30. Everything was set up online, and not surprisingly, they were totally clueless when we got here. It's all too obvious how disorganized they are. We're still waiting here and it's approaching 6:00pm. The place looks like a mess, operates like a mess, and guess what...the experience is a MESS. I would have been happy spending more money, dealing with professionals, and having some semblance of confidence in the work. We will never be back again. read more

I took my car, to see what the problem was in my breaks. They did my break job a few months back, they told me one of the back wheel routers were damaged by the break shoe. Since they had changed all the parts a few months before, I went to them again, and than they said that the break pad has a lifetime warranty, but the router is not apart of the warranty. But the break pad is the reason why the router broke, so my question is now I have to pay for the new router and labor, but they are only replacing the break pad for free, since it is apart of the "warranty". So what am I really paying for, them to replace my break pad with a new one that causes my router to break and for me to keep coming back and spending more money. Also I came to their store because my breaks were making a noise, but instead they changed my steering fluid and charged me over 90 dollars, which wasn't even my problem, my problem was my brakes. I think they need to rethink themselves and I do not think you should go to this company, I wasted a lot of money and got nothing done. Lastly I changed all my tires, and have a warranty to get free swaps every 5,000 miles, but you cannot make an appointment to have it swapped, you must leave your car at the store for an entire day, I think that is very unprofessional and they should realize people need to use there cars and the reason why we are going to them is to get it fixed when we need it done. So this is just one way your not even getting a "good warranty". I would not recommend this tire service. read more

This used to be a decent place till last year - the techs have gotten a bit uncouth and foul mouth. Simple questions get them irritated. On several occasions when we call in for an appointment and request a service and then show up the next person at the counter is not able to open up the record and verify what was agreed and previously communicated. They go back and forth making excuses and not interested in solving the issue. Please save your time and money and go elsewhere. I am a local resident for over 18 years. As I moved in I used this place for a few time and quickly discovered it was not only a full of incompetence but they always tried to find an extra unneeded work and charge more. In a number of years the ownership has changed and there were great reviews about the new team. So about 2 years ago I started using them again with an average experience. My latest experience with this place is back to the original one - looks like they have a few good experienced mechanics but the management is back to treat customers like idiots, attracting with lower prices and then scheming for 3 times more. About 6-9 months ago I had a wheel alignment there on my Lexus RX. The price was not great but OK. Not sure what they've done but about a month ago the alignment was out of wack worth than before - certified by the Lexus dealership. Today I brought the same car for brake replacement - they quoted me $299 for front bakes even though I brought their advertisement for $79.99, including labor. The guy tells me that he has to replace rotors for $90 part and $15 labor on each side. "They are very expensive" he said. This made them more expensive than the local Lexus dealership at full price. Well, the rotors are in the store for $30 each and it takes about 2 mins to replace once the pads are off. Also, the front desk person had absolutely no interest in my business when I confronted him with these quotes. The moral of this story is - go there if you are happy to taken for a fool or find a more honest place. read more

On a cold December Monday morning I was 2,000 miles over for an oil change n decided out of convenience I'd go to this mavis n no problem. But coincidentally the next morning on Tuesday a mile from work my rear brakes snap, my car is struggling to move n the grinding begins so I drive straight to Mavis n knew I needed new brake pads, rotors n 2 new rear tires. BUT little did I know THIS TIME would be THE WORSE DRAMA FILLED EXPERIENCE EVER. Dropped the car off Tuesday at 9:30am, 12pm they call to let me know what is needed n I approve them to start the work as long as it can be completed by 5pm when I get out of work n they said no problem. At 5:05pm I call to check on my vehicle n was told yea it'll be done in 1/2hr. 15 minutes later they call me back to say we have a problem the wrong brake pads were sent but he will put them on tonight so I can get home if I can drop the car off Wednesday morning for the right pads to be put on with rotors. I really don't have a choice do. I live 60 miles away n brought the vehicle out of convenience bc it is near my job in a business district area. I put 120 miles A DAY on my vehicle back n forth to work 5 days a week n the manager at this location is aware of that. Now it's 6:15pm they are closing up n I pay for the tires n wheel alignment that night $393, get in my car pull out of the lot n tire pressure light comes on along with service light so I turn around head back to mavis since I'm only 2 min away. I check the automatic tire pressure setting on my dash settings n tire pressure in the brand new driver-side rear tire has only 13 lbs in it. Manager gives the keys to one of the mechanics to go check the tires n the guy says "come on are you serious man" basically COMPLAINING to the manger bc he wants to leave n then takes my keys n reluctantly complaining under his breath goes to check n fill the BRAND NEW tire that should have been filled correctly in the first place. I leave again n less then 2 miles away I hear scraping coming from underneath my vehicle so I call them but now they are closed. Now I have to drive 60 miles home slowly, scared and don't feel safe pulling over on the side of the NJ highway at 6:45pm in the dark by myself. I get home 8:30pm pull up into my dark driveway n now can't see in pitch black night with ice on the ground bc I live in the mountains. Wednesday morning comes n I go out to see it's my scrape plate from under the car hanging off n all eaten up on the passenger side bc Mavis only put 1 middle bolt n 1 bolt on the driver side INSTEAD OF ALL 5 bolts they originally took out. Now I had to get on the cold icy ground dressed for work n crawl under my car at 7am put silver tape from the wheel well under the car around the scrape plate n up to tape it onto my bumper n pray it holds for my 60 mile commute. While driving I notice my car is also pulling hard to the left n I can't hold the steering wheel straight. Get to mavis 9am tell them about the scrape plate n how if it fell off on the highway I could have been killed or caused a major accident, told her about the 13lbs in brand new tire that had I ignored my dashboard lights would have ruined the new tire my rim n could have caused me to get in an accident being it was icy by me n that the car was pulling to the left so alignment I paid for last night needs to be checked. WELL this Manager she didn't give a crap, said nothing, showed no expression n just wanted my keys. So today is new brake pads, new rotors, check the wheel alignment n bolt up the scrape plate correct? She said yea n took the keys. I went to work amazed at the coldness n uncaring attitude of the establishment for its customers as well as the incompetence of the technicians/mechanics to do their job n at the managers not reprimanding them on the poor work ethics n behavior. They called at 12pm that car is done n I asked about alignment, bolts and everything to make sure n was told yes it's completely done so I told them I'll be there at 1pm. I walk in ask for the same manger n I said for all the inconvenience, time n putting my life in danger multiple times what can we do about the price? She took a whole $20 off the bill GLAD TO SEE MY LIFE AND TIME ARE WORTH NOTHING TO YOU and I wanted to argue but I kept my composure n just said fine bc I already was feed up n knew it wouldn't get me anywhere. Before paying another $245 I said just to confirm wheel alignment is good now correct n all 5 bolts are securely in, she said let me go make sure. Comes back n says oh they got confused I have them doing alignment now it'll be about 20 minutes. WTF!!!!! So I bit my tongue n waited then 1/2hr later paid n can't wait to leave. Get to my car n after all this I notice all my tire caps are missing, it was minor but my blood was boiling by this point so I went back inside n said being I have been beyond inconvenienced spent almost 800 here in the last 3 days do you think I can get some tire caps? Awful... I'm so cautious and they still pulled one over me. John, the supposed owner, is very fast talking. Beware. When I complained, he said he recorded what he said on a mic installed on the phone. Is that legal? Anyway, the dispute was over something at the time of pick up, not over something discussed over the phone. He sold my 80 year old husband who had left his glasses at home a $19 warranty for new tires. It wasn't until he got home that he saw it was $76 for 4 tires. A useless warranty which negated the great free quote we had gotten at the onset. Sad..... please don't go there if you can avoid doing so. Terrible experience.... read more

They were awesome from the first call. I cam in needing a balancing and maybe an alignment (it helped that I made sure to research what I needed online first based upon my symptoms), prepping for a cross country trip. They said "they'd take care of me", and they definitely did. I brought my car into Mike, who was as nice as can be. We went and checked the tires together, discussed their history, and agreed that balance and rotation was what was needed. Due to some wear on the tires (which he showed me) and the fact that it tracked a little to the left, he offered up an alignment for $30 off the regular price. After saying it would be done in three hours, he called me up in one hour and said the car was ready. Problem solved, car ready for the trip. They also checked all my fluids again and after noticing my power steering was dirty, didn't put the hard sell on me when I said I would take care of it myself. The point is this, they were honest, fast, reasonably priced, instructive, really nice, and didn't put the hard sell on me. If you live around here, make these guys your tire guys. read more
