Went in for brakes and and oil change. After an hour got a call saying they couldn't get to my brakes because the bolt lock key on my tires was broken. No problem, totally understood, told them to just do the oil change. 6 hours later hadn't received a call so I decided to call. Was put on hold for several minutes and then told that they couldn't open my hood, I tried to explain how to open it and was talked over repeatedly and told to come pick up my car. Picked up the car and the first thing I did was open the hood with no problem. They seriously need to work on customer service and plain competence. read more

Please do NOT READ this post if your expecting a store bashing or employee trashing because I got a flat tire. I have had the opportunity to visit this Mavis location twice in recent years. On both visits, I was utterly happy and impressed with the service received and the value of the charge. The Manager, Anthony, is clearly a pro, having years of experience and know how. I would HIGHLY recommend others as I remain completely satisfied with my double experience with this store. One thing that I WILL recommend, is that Mavis Corporate, take the time to review some of the negative feedback that I noticed on Yelp. Some of these posts are clearly inappropriate and should be taken down. Its not fair nor just to penalize a store for the poor performance of the CUSTOMER! I used to go to STS, but since Mavis took over it appears they can no longer be trusted. I brought my car in yesterday for an oil change and tire rotation. I left to come home to find the tires had not been rotated, putting me and my family at major risk for an accident. If this is how this corporation does business, I'm not interested in being a sitting duck. I'm waiting for a managerial call back and will pursue legal action if I don't get one immediately. Tiago was the manager on duty who took care of me. I came in for a flat. I have been avoiding the tire because I knew I had to get a bunch of things done. Sure enough, Tiago told me I needed many more things done. With that being said, I didn't feel pressured to purchase the highest quality or most expensive pieces. He gave me options and told me the benefits of both. He walked me through the entire process and made me feel comfortable. I will be recommending people to this establishment because they truly care about customer service. read more

Do not go to This store for anything at all. They changed my wheel bearings and absolutely destroyed my driver side tire. The mechanic lost a clip connecting an intake hose to my engine and put a zip tie around it and didn't tell me. He was to stupid to realize that a zip tie will not hold a hose under pressure. It popped off before I even pulled out of the driveway. They changed the right side wheel bearing first and everything was fine then changed the left side and my steering wheel was crooked and pulled to the right. They tried to say my steering column was crooked but it wasn't crooked before they touched my car. It wasn't even crooked after they changed one bearing but all of a sudden it was crooked after the second bearing. The guy Anthony behind the desk made up that I needed a new wheel camber because he didn't want admit how badly his mechanic fucked my car up. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

They do a great job of getting you in and out. This is my go to place for same day drop ins for small repairs, oil changes, inspections, tires, etc. They have reasonable prices and good hours (actually open on the weekend). Close to the train too so you can drop it off in the am and make the train. read more

I'm so unhappy with this place. The staff was rude and disrespectful and they replaced my lug nuts claiming that they were damaged without telling me or getting my authorization. Just bought the used car and my mechanic checked all. then needed the wheels balance. told them I had no time had another appt. they put it on the lift. wouldn't take it down. missed my appt. I never write a review, but couldn't have this bad experience slipped off. These people are dishonest and inconsistent with what they say about price, time and safety. Took my car for break pads replacement. A hour later got a call from them saying I need 4 pads and 4 rotors. I asked if it is possible to replace the front rotors only (since my car is relatively brand new), they claimed that it is NOT SAFE to replace front rotors and keep old rear ones. I agreed to pay what they asked for (over priced) and Asked them to call me if any update. FOUR hrs later (just few min before they close) they called me and said car is ready for pick up. I came to find that they only replaced the front rotors as the mechanic claimed one of the rear rotors bolt was stuck AND they asked me to pay exact same price for 4 rotors. The manager stated that it is SAFE to keep the old rear rotors. In nutshell, stay away from this place if you are looking for honest and ethical people to fix your car. read more

went to mavis in bellmore on june 1st to get my car inspected. they told me I had a bad tire that needed to be replaced. did that and left. my car was vibrating at 40 mph and greater after that went back 2 weeks later and told Anthony (the manager) about the problem they fixed it no problem, no bs with a smile and at no charge this is the type of place I would recommend to anyone fair and no drama read more

The elderly employee who works at the front desk Anthony has no manners and has very little knowledge about cars. He tried to tell me I didn't have warranty for a Monroe Strut I had purchased through Mavis. He struggled getting a concrete answer for me and told me I may have been lied to when I purchased this strut -- mind you I bought the strut from Mavis and all the information was in his computer stating I had the lifetime warranty (this information is even on google for the public to search). After all was said and done he refused to work on my car after finding out he was wrong and that the warranty covered the malfunctioning strut. His whole attitude changed once he realized that I would not need to pay out of pocket for this due to a warranty. At the end of the day he held no accountability for his misleading information he presented to me and therefore lost a loyal customer of Mavis for over 10+ years. It is due to Anthony's actions and lack of responsibility why I would never return to this location ever again. read more

Beware of them attempting to upsell you repairs that you don't need. I went for a NY State inspection and they told me I needed new struts (and that the car would pass inspection, but it was not really safe to drive car like this). Went to my own mechanic who said no way, that my struts were fine. Only reason I went to Mavis was because my own mechanic was not open on a Saturday when I needed to get the inspection done. Was there for 3 hours instead of the 1-1 1/2 they said. Didnt want to help or listen until I got pissed off and raised my voice. The worst service I ever received, I bought my tuck in for a 4 wheel drive alignment and they never got it right. They flat out stole my hard working money. The first time they did the alignment the steering wheel came back off centered, I call them as soon as I got home and the guy (Anthony) told me to bring it back. So the next weekend I did and he told me that he didn't have a tech available and to bring it back again. The next weekend I called before bring it in and they told me to drop it off, I did at 10:00am. I called 4:30pm to see if my truck wasn't ready and Anthony told me he didn't start working on it. At this point there wasn't enough time to finish the job correctly, as they close at 5:00pm. They rushed to get the truck into the shop and I got really pissed that I would have to bring it back again. I called them back at 4:45pm and I asked Anthony why wasn't the truck done sooner, he told me that customers who were buying tires were more important and first in line before fixing my truck. We got into an argument on the phone and then I told him someone will picking up the truck. When I got the truck back the rear camber setting was so off that when my wife drove the truck she almost gotten to an accident. Lucky she was fine.
