Mavis - Here is the definition of Customer Service, it is the support you offer your customers from the moment they first contact your business to the months and years afterward. Providing good customer service means being a reliable partner to your customers, it goes beyond helping them troubleshoot, use, and make informed decisions about your product or the service you are providing. 7 Feb 24, based on the Mavis post, on this page, for us to give them a call, my husband called Mavis today and spoke to Crystal. Of course, we already knew they were not going to HONOR any type of REAL RELIABLE customer service support to us, that is why we did not call them back immediately after I saw their post. Before my husband called, we knew we were just going through the motion of calling Mavis, because we know they are NOT going to offer any type of support. I just wanted everyone to know the name of the person we would be speaking to at Mavis and what their comment would be, so that I can add it to this post. My husband spoke to Crystal this morning. Crystal told my husband the regional manager returned his phone call last month. Now that is very funny, since there are no records of Mavis calling my husband. We called the office and sent emails and the only time Mavis responded back to us, is when I posted the review on Yelp, which is when Mavis posted for us to call them, that's it, no other time. IF the regional manager REALLY called and did not get anyone, why did they not leave a message? We emailed them, couldn't they email us back, if they could not get us by phone? Is the regional manager aware that as a manager they are supposed to leave a message, for the customer to return their call. The regional manager is so busy taking care of what region, not the region I am in. Crystal is just the mouthpiece, repeating what the regional manager told her to say and do, where is her proof they called? That regional manager never called that is why I wrote the review. Don't they know there is a phone bill that can CONFIRM they called and or left a message. Again, Crystal said the rotors are over the 12K miles mark and there is nothing they can do at this point. We knew that already. Crystal is not saying anything we did not anticipate, again, she is just the mouthpiece, who is taking the heat for the regional manager; I say that because every time you call, the regional manager is NEVER available. Mavis website has the link to contact them, but Mavis do not read those emails, nor do they respond to them. Mavis ONLY responds to the Yelp post to make it look like they are concerned about your experience, and that they are willing to help; look at my experience, some help they are. Again, Crystal is just the mouthpiece, that has to say what they TOLD her to say. Forget about Mavis personnel having a CONSCIENCE or INTEGRITY. Based on their LACK of action, Mavis provides lack luster service, and once there is a complaint, Mavis does the bare minimum or NOTHING to fix the issue or come to an agreeable resolution for their customer. Sooner or later, Mavis' LACK of ensuring their customer is supported correctly, will have an impact on their pockets. Also, as stated in the previous post, if I can give them a 0 on EVERY website review that I can find and write a review on, I will. I would like to give a 0 on this review, but the site is not allowing me to do so. Now I have to select the 1, even though they deserve less than that. How are these ratings correct when you can't select the rating you really want to give. DO NOT GO HERE I rated this place 5 stars previously. Now I wish I could give them 0 stars. I have been coming here for years staff used to be so friendly and helpful. I recently went to check my brakes. The issue was very small but they made it worse so they can over charge me. Even flex pay said they were over charging. $118.00 for parts but $1,490.00 for labor crazy. I asked for my car back after sitting there for 5plus hours and this is when I discovered I no longer had brake fluid in my car. The manager Andrew said no one touched my car but that was a complete lie. Andrew then said somebody put brake fluid in her car so she can go but now the problem is I have a huge leak in my brake line that was not there when I got there. I drove there I should have been able to drive away but I couldn't because of Andrew, and he didn't care because I would not let him over charge me. he even changed the work order so flex pay would send him the money and when that didn't work he basically said screw me. Andrew is making his staff over charge people. Staff is rude management SUCKS. They are making small problems big so they can over charge you. I had to wait over 3 hours to change one tire. Apparently there was only one mechanic, but there were only two people ahead of me. Unfortunately, I had to endure getting a new tire several times and each time, regardless who's ahead of me, I've been on my way in an hour or less. Then they gave me the wrong tire after the guy at the front counter said they have the same tire I needed in stock. After I pointed out their error, they said that tire was out of stock and they couldn't order a new one because it wasn't available. I did a quick search on line and easily found the exact tire I needed. Piss poor service. I won't be returning to this location. read more

I found some inexpensive tires online and figured why not call my local Mavis to see if they would match the price -- to which whoever I spoke to at the main office said they would. I said I would just be picking them up, not mounting or anything. He said okay. They said the tired would be ready to be picked up on Saturday. Well, fortunately I called back to let them know I wouldn't be able to get them until Monday; to which they responded "they won't be here until Monday anyways." Wow. Good thing I called. I arrive on Monday and the man at the register (manager I think) tells me a different price. He tells me "that's the best they could match." Wow again. Did the guy on the phone lie? Is this guy lying? I have to fight them match it as promised -- he finally does. Time to pay. Oh, if you only want to pick up tires it's cash only. Thanks for telling me guy that matched the price but didn't really at Mavis HQ. You know, because everyone walks around with a couple hundred bucks cash in their wallet. I have to go find an ATM, pay the ATM fee, and come back with the cash. I would NEVER give these fools my business again, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone. I'm highly disappointed with Mavis tire shop, I brought insurance with my 4 tires. Every time I tried to bring my vehicle for a tire issue, they make you wait to long; 35 mins or longer. I tried to bring my vehicle yesterday, which was the 7th of January 2018. An hour before they close, 2 blocks away I called to confirm my visitation and a worker told me that I would have to leave my car overnight. They only have one tire guy, and supposedly backed up. I told the worker it's only one tire, he said it doesn't matter that I had to leave my vehicle and leave. I was so upset I decided to leave this bad review. It's not worth buying insurance, you're better off getting your tires fixed at your local tire, they quick and cheap. read more

I was the second person here as soon as they opened and still somehow waited over 2 hours to get ONE tire changed. All that was ahead of me supposedly was an oil change and windshield wiper change... that should never take over two hours to do. Same story as the other reviews below. Placed my order with a rebate and scheduled an appointment the weekend prior to installation. I was told on the phone "I have the rebate here." I showed up to pay the following week and the rebate was no longer valid. After getting a lecture on "having to pay for nice things", I left. Called corporate who did nothing about it and still hasn't called me back. If you do decide to ignore the one star reviews, be careful pulling into the parking lot. My story is simple but sad. Wait for it! Read to the end! I had a nail in my tire, I figured it out, when my tire pressure signal light went on for the second time, right after I added air in the deflated tire. I have used Mavis service before for my minor car issues including oil change, nails in tires ect. Anyway, as I was browsing on my google maps and yelp for gas station with service, I noticed a Mavis Service shop. I got relieved and drove there on my deflated tire. I parked the car in their parking lot, and went inside for the service clerk. i noticed about 6 persons sitting and waiting for their cars, and an old man ahead of me talking with a clerk. After 15 minutes of standing and waiting, I was finally able to get a hold of a clerk and tell him about my tire. He processed me fast and took car keys and told me to wait. :) In the first hour of me waiting, I got coffee from Dunkin Donuts across the street. Spoke on the phone with my mother. Facetime my girlfriend. Listened to 10 songs on Pandora. Stared at Mavis service guys, who came outside for smoke about 3 times within the hour. My Car? Still Standing on the parking lot. In the second hour of me waiting, I listened to a guy who argued with service guy that technicians randomly select cars for service. Since a BMW was taken to the shop leaving his Toyota outside waiting, however, he was there long before BMW had arrived. I guess, technicians want fat tips so they service luxury cars first. After that I called my doctor, asking him if I can come an hour late, since I am in car service shop with flat tire. Listened to 10 songs on pandora radio. After that, I was watching people walking down the street for some time . My Car? Still standing on the parking lot. I got inside the shop and asked service guy for my keys, drove away on flat tire to Mobile Service station. I got my tire patched in 5 minutes for 10$. End of story. read more

BEWARE OF MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRES/MAVIS TIRES SUPPLY LLC Theirs business cards show 'Saving People Money For Over 50 Years' (a trap just to get you) when, in reality, you always wind up spending more than the money that you are supposed to spend before you get to their tire shop and every one of them are the same. Recently, I called Mavis for an estimate for 4 new tires and was told that it was going to be $515 and change for four NEXEN new tires Mounted/Installed and was told to give them a call when ever I was ready and to ask for Roger. When I was ready, I called and asked for Roger and was told that there was no Roger there but that they would make the order and set an appointment for me. In the end, I wound up paying $945 and still, they were trying to get me for another $99 + tx for a tire pressure sensor on one of the rim. I was told that the tire sensor light was on all the time and that and that one of the tires light sensor was missing in one of my tires rim when in reality, it wasn't true because previously, I took my car to the dealership for maintenance work and was told that one of my tires had a nail and was not possible to fix the tire because the tire was too old for repairing and possible the tire nail hole will get worse which I understood because it was true and I was having issues with the tire for a while losing air pressure and the tire air pressure light will come on only every time the pressure will go down. Fact: My car was bought at the dealer with only 9k miles and always been taken to the dealer, and so far, it had 35k with the original tires when I took my car to MAVIS and Never had the tires changed for it to have the tire pressure light sensor missing. I told the man at MAVIS that I had taken my car to the dealer and was told about the tire with the nail situation, but he said that in order for the light not to stay on all the time he will have to put a new tire pressure sensor. So, I told the man that they had lost it when changing the tires. He said,"No."That it's missing." So then I said to him that if they didn't lose the sensor or broke it, then he was trying to get me to pay for extra work that I didn't need because my tire pressure sensor light wasn't On all the time only when the pressure will go down and every time I put air to the tire with the nail the light will turn Off and that they were responsible for the missing sensor. But he said they weren't going to do anything about it unless I added the extra work and paid for it. WELL AT THE END MAVIS TIRES LEFT MY CAR WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT ON And now I can't tell when I'm getting a flat tire. read more

I've been going to Mavis located at 611 Utica for many years. Awhile ago, they had free replacement of brake pads. I was pretty happy till a couple of months ago. I went in for front brakes. Labor would have been about $48.00. I walked out after two days with about a $500 plus bill. I waited 5 hours to be serviced to be asked if I could come back. Remember, I had bad brakes. Eventually, they started service on my SUV. I needed a new caliper which froze, destroyed my rotor. I was quoted about $50. The new end price was near $80! I needed to change both calipers now to match. I was quoted about 20% higher than another non named place. All in all, I would have paid what they asked, but it was all misquoted. To paraphrase Corporate Investigator, "You felt like you went to a used car salesman." I said yes; he was very understanding. They replaced the rotors and brakes and left the freezing caliper on after I requested to leave my SUV alone; they did not listen to me. I canceled my next day's appointments to complete this work. Another 3 hours... My bill reflected: 1- 2 new overpriced rotors by 20%. 2- new overpriced caliper. 3- Caliper hose for $40 that was not needed, not discussed, not shown the part. 4- full brake fluid replacement for $69.00 when it only needed topping off: reduced to $39.00. Not needed, not discussed beforehand. 5- On both days, the mechanics put my SUV on the lift bending my factory installed running boards. Told Lou at desk; nothing done. 6- I think, not sure to be honest, I originally had the ceramic brake pads installed. Now, I get the basic ones for more frequent service. Summary: Service was poor at best. Mechanics were missing or simply not working on cars. I suspect the mechanics were good, but overworked: disgruntled. Work areas appeared understaffed. After making several repeated calls to the corporate offices and filing complaints, I was returned $150.00 due to being overcharged. The reimbursement did not cover the misleading quotes,delays, overcharges or damages. So as not to get ripped off again, I will bring my pads in for replacement before the rotors are damaged as one mechanic suggested. When my rear pads are replaced, I will decide then if free brake pads for my SUV are worth the trip to Mavis to get a bill for over $500.00. Update: On July 7th I returned to Mavis thinking my brakes were installed improperly as I lost trust and confidence in their business. Well, turns out I now needed struts. Raz suggested I needed rear shock absorbers, but I didn't trust them nor wanted to invest in this SUV as I want it for one year more or less. Here goes: I was quoted two days before at Mavis $280 for both struts- no an accurate quote. Raz knowing I had past troubles here quoted me $500 for both struts. More realistic, but still high. I got a quote from my partner's mechanic for $350-400 for both struts. He said that I needed rear shocks and straps after checking, something Mavis did not. I paid $700 for everything. Quite a bit less expensive than Mavis even with Raz's discount. SUV rides like a new car. When the mechanic put my SUV on the lift, he again bent the running board, this time only on one side. Mavis did return some overcharges to me to their credit. They did not address the running board after seeing the pictures on the lift in their Shop bent. At this time, they said I don't need rear brakes though their mechanic said to return in three months to replace. I will only return for the brakes that are covered by the lifetime warranty before they ruin the rotors. If they refuse to change the rear brakes before the rotors are damaged, I will picket their store, contact Consumer Affairs and take any legal means to get reimbursed. Was it worth getting free lifetime brakes worth $25 dollars for how they rip you off in every other direction? You tell me. Updated Review: July 17, 2016 On July 11th, I wrote Jenna from Mavis, who responded to my Review, who said someone, not her would get back to me. This has not happened. Updated Review: 7/21/16 Letter from Mavis: "Mitchell", Our records indicate your issue was already resolved back on 5/19/2016 by our Regional Manager Mike who offered you a check in the amount of $155 which you accepted. Your issue has been closed. We apologize for any confusion. Thank you, Mavis/STS Tire Support 358 Saw Mill River Road Millwood NY 10546" They completely ignored the damaged, factory installed running boards. Came here to buy new tires for a carry out. They had to order them for me, and it only took a day for them to arrive. Front desk staff were super helpful and patient explaining the options. Price was what was expected I had come here like 6 years ago when I first got my car and they installed the tires that time, also a good experience and reasonably priced. The only reason I did not get them installed this time was I needed new rims and Mavis does not do wheels. read more

Hello: I just got home from Mavis after an eventful day with my car. I left my car to go to my chiropractors office in Bay Ridge when I noticed that my right rear tire was as flat as a pancake. Well I called for a tow truck and an hour and 12/ later the tow truck showed up. The driver changed my spare tire then I Made a B line over to Mavis. I was greeted by "Walter" who had one of his mechanics check the tire throughly and discovered that the tire had too many plugs in it to make it worthwhile to patch up and told me that the tire had to be replaced. Walter didn't have the brand of tire that was on my car so he went ahead and replaced the tire with a comparable tire of a different brand that was the same size as my other tires. He showed me the price breakdown of the new tire with mounting, high speed balancing, and the road hazard warranty all broken down. The original price was much more than I anticipated as I was already in the hole getting my tire changed. I asked him if he could do anything on the price and surprisingly he reduced the price by nearly $30.00 (tax included) and even stored the "donut" securely in my trunk. It's service like this that will make me a lifetime customer of Mavis. I can't say enough about Walter. He was professional, well groomed, warm and friendly and decked out in the proper Mavis uniform. I'd be remiss as if I didn't extoll the virtues of Walter and hope that his efforts with me today don't go unnoticed. Mavis and Walter are the best and he gets 10 stars not 5 from me.
