I called the day before and spoke with a gentleman who was very polite and helpful. I explained exactly what was wrong with my car, told him I already had the replacement parts, and mentioned there were several repairs I needed done. He told me it wouldn't be a problem and to come in the next morning. I arrived at 7:30 AM and met with the owner. I explained everything that was wrong with the vehicle and told him about my conversation from the previous day. He took my information, and everything seemed fine at first. Then he told me he doesn't go by what other employees say and that he would need to plug the car into a diagnostic machine to do his own assessment. I said okay, but then he started telling me that even if the repairs were needed, it might take time to get the parts. I reminded him that I already had all of the parts for my vehicle. That's when he informed me that he doesn't install customer-supplied parts. My question is: Why wasn't that explained to me yesterday when I specifically called ahead and told the employee I already had the parts? That information would have saved me a trip to Brooklyn. From that point on, the conversation became increasingly unpleasant. I explained that I've dealt with mechanics in the past who have tried to upsell unnecessary repairs, especially because many customers--particularly women--may not always know enough about cars to challenge a diagnosis. I wasn't asking him to guess what was wrong; I was telling him exactly what I wanted repaired and was prepared to pay for those specific repairs. Instead of listening, he became defensive and argumentative. When I mentioned that some mechanics take advantage of women, he responded by telling me he was married and had a wife. That had absolutely nothing to do with my point. I wasn't accusing him of anything personally--I was explaining why I wanted transparency and why I called ahead to confirm everything before making the trip. Ironically, the lack of communication from his own employee is exactly what caused this problem. If the shop doesn't install customer-supplied parts, that should have been clearly stated during my phone call. So here's the deal, if you have a bmw range rover Porsche cayenne, Mercedes, ect, their all money pits, that the reality of it especially if the warranty is up, their cheap used because the repairs typically exceed the value of the car. Repairs will be beyond expensive for labor and inferior parts. Don't wanna come here buy a lexus or a Toyota. Long story short- ive been here several times over the years, for my 750i vanos issue and oil consumption on a 41k mile car which the dealer would not fix while still under warranty, and crap they even could not diagnosis (transmission is a sealed system). My several range rovers have been here for suspension issues height sensors, wiring harness, shocks ect.. they even caught stuff a deal inspection missed leaking rear diff, and ABC body roll on the 750i. Pro's Honestly better then the dealer. Had suspension bar link repaired in June. Had the car over 5 years first time for this repair. In December I needed the same repair but on both sides. When Bay Diagnostics replaced the part it was replaced upside down and only lasted a few months. Good thing I didn't go back to Bay Diagnostics. The new shop told me you had this repair done before and it was replaced upside down not knowing I did indeed do the repair not too long ago. I would be very skeptical using this place. read more

Jordan the owner verbally acosted me stating, "if you don't tell me the truth it's going to cost you more." Yelling at me, insulting and ridiculing me from start to finish. I took two days off work, both unplanned because they told me to tow it in and then refused to accept the car even though I explained the tumbler had been removed. Then another day to have it towed to another shop. As I explained to Jordan the car belongs to my MOM and has some sentimental attachment because it was my FATHERS who recently passed away. I apologise if I don't know the exact history of who initially tried repairing the car but it was someone who took $200 from my elderly MOM, unlike Jordan who took around $275 plus removed the back seat and didn't put it back in. FYI the battery is in the trunk not under the back seat! I personally covered the cost of Jordans"labor", which I guess he claimed was to call Mercedes-Benz to get the cost of the ignition. Thanks for charging $275 to destroy the back seat. In addition, I covered the cost to have it repaired for my MOM of $750 at another shop, plus Jordan's ridiculous charge of $275 and the my MOM paying $200 to a locksmith. So all in $1,225 for an ignition. Man, I am in the wrong business! $475 basically stolen from an elderly woman! The tow truck driver let Jordan know how he was speaking and treating me was unacceptable. The tow truck driver had to get involved because Jordon wouldn't release the car because he was "on lunch". The tow truck couldn't wait an hour for Jordan to finish lunch, which would require me paying for another tow. When I went in to ask Jordan to please release the car he cursed at me and slammed the door, literally hitting my leg with the door. The tow truck driver couldn't believe it! Literally slammed the door on my leg. Jordan's estimate of $2,300 to repair an ignition was fixed same day at another shop for only $750. I am sure he is going to respond to this post with a distorted version of the truth but the reality is he was terrible from the beginning to end. Even his own employees apologized for his behavior and bad manners. Went in for an oil change and heat shield rattle plus brake squeal. Came out with an estimate for over $1500. I was told the following: 1) The brake pads are worn and you need new rotors (To which I explained the rotors were changed a little over one year ago, surely they can't be warped or cracked? His only reply was "but you have slotted and drilled rotors and this isn't a race car. We'll use oem quality rotors") I replaced the pads elsewhere and they showed me there's nothing wrong with my "race car" rotors. The squeal was only a wear indicator with no damage to the rotors 2) this is where their tech earned them a couple stars. The outer tie rod end was loose. This was a good, honest catch on their tech's behalf 3) oil change was reasonable 4) they hand me my bill. I ask "what about the heat shield?".. This car repair shop is amazing!!!! I had to bring my car in last minute due to the fender of my car being loose and hanging. We called to see if they can repair it and they said to bring it in. We get there and they take my car in right away. The repair was less than 30 minutes and was fixed! Normally I would bring it to Toyota, which is where I lease my car, make an appointment, leave the car for the day, and pick up the next day. I went to Bay Diagnostic today to do the following service items: 1. Replace 6 spark plugs. 2. Install 6 Ign Coil Boots. 3. Replace Wiper Blades. 4. Flushed Transmission Fluids. 5. Inspection. 6. Replace Dome Light. 7. Replaced Engine Air Filter Set. Total come out to be 1217.30. This is quite a fair price. MB Brooklyn quoted me 3800 plus tax for the same service items. Before the service, engine idle speed is around 800 rpm and engine is pretty loud. After the service, engine idle speed dropped to around 550 rpm and engine became much quieter. read more

Went in for a check up on the speedometer on my Mini Cooper 2008. I was the 3rd or 4th person in there Waited almost 1:30 to hear back from them. I was told the car had two bad pieces. Can't remember the exact name of the pieces but it was connected to the front steering. When they gave me the price of what it would cost to fix it was absurd. They were asking 2300 dollars for two pieces. I understand that it's a BMW but that price was just crazy. While I waited at the office with other people the managers or owners continually talked bad about some of the customers who dropped of their cars. Took my mini to another shop certified by mini. They said the only thing missing in the car was a small clip on the brakes. Total cost of that was 10 dollars compared to their absurd 2300. read more

So to start off, this place was a life saver. I basically grew up in this area and walked by this place at least a thousand times and never thought to go in. I moved to Florida and actually drove all the way back to New York in my Mercedes C300. The day before I was supposed to go back, my car kept overheating. Apparently my engine fan was broken. I brought it to Mercedes originally and they wouldn't even touch my car, told me to bring it in, and when I did, they said I would need to leave my car there for at least a week before they would even look at it. So I said screw it and brought it to Bay Diagnostics. I believe the front desk was named James, VERY HELPFUL BTW, looked at it within the 10 minutes I was there and told me that I was looking at $2000+ because they said I might need to also change the thermostat since that might have been what was causing the issue. He ordered the parts right in front of me and told me that worse case scenario that it would be done by tomorrow instead of today. Honestly to me that was ALOT better than the alternative. Ended up only paying $1650 since he said it wasn't even the thermostat issue, only the fan. The price also included the oil change that I really needed. So no, I don't think this place is a scam, they are honest people. They could've definitely lied to me and not even do the thermostat and I wouldn't even have noticed lol. I would definitely come back. 10 out of 10 recommend. Another huge plus is that they look a lot cleaner and tidier than most car shops. read more

I do a lot of my own work on my BMW and know what's going on. Keith always has a BS story, tries to screw you on parts -he quoted me $1800 on the same parts that cost me $630 - and this has happened before as well. He always acts surprised when you call BS. I would like to make sure that people who are searching on Yelp see this review that I wrote on Google, just in case they don't see it. Review: I had high expectations about this company because of how many positive reviews I seen. However, after Speaking with Jordan, I understand that: 1- He has no patience for customers because he literally speaks over you. Not to mention how many times he spoke over me because even once is ill-mannered and completely insolent. 2- He is not as knowledgeable as he may seem to be due to the reputation that his company reviews hold. What happened was: I called to get a quote for Carbon Cleaning using Walnut Blaster. Carbon cleaning removes carbon from the intake valves, which can be found at the cylinder's head -- knowing that it makes complete logical sense to identify your car by providing the basic specifications such as: Make, Model, Year. Technically that's enough because Jordan can go the extra mile for the customer and look up what kind of chassis and engine belongs to that Make, Model, Year. But instead, I told Jordan the chassis and engine anyway, along with the Make Model and Year, which means he has everything he needs to know to get Carbon Cleaning done. Instead, Jordan insisted he needs a VIN and did not want to deal with me if I did not give him a VIN. VINs are unique identifiers for cars. **He has no reason to look at the VIN. And he could not provide me with one over the phone.** So he, therefore, hung up. Bay Diagnostic recommended to me by my indy BMW shop in Boston when I moved to NY. I have been to their shop three times and I regret to say I won't go back. After my first trip to the shop for an annual oil change, I noticed the red oil warning light flashing on the dash. The light would usually come up after the car had been in traffic for a while and the engine was idling. I called them and they said it's probably nothing (to a red oil light nonetheless!). After a couple of weeks I went back for an unrelated issue (a bolt coming loose), which they fixed and again told me the oil light was probably nothing. Long story short, I took the car back to my Boston shop and had another oil change, which fixed the issue. My guess is they either use the wrong oil that would lose pressure at high temperature, or left a cap or something loose. Besides that experience, they were professional and courteous, and as others have mentioned very friendly.
