I was recommended to try this place out by our insurance agent so, unfortunately, I called them up and scheduled an appt for a state inspection without even looking at the reviews here. When they got back to us with the inspection notes and told us we needed several hundred dollars worth of repairs (tag lights broken, replacement muffler needed, etc) to pass inspection, we knew something was up and told them not to fix anything. What confirmed our suspicions about the place was when my dad took a look at the "broken" tag lights, he found that they had just been unplugged... Needless to say we got a second opinion elsewhere which came back with no major issues, just a few small recommendations, and nothing that would keep us from passing inspection. I went to STS for a vehicle inspection. I scheduled the appointment and the morning of the appointment they called to let me know they did not have an inspector. I rescheduled for the following day. 30 minutes before the rescheduled appointment I called to confirm and I was told to come in. Upon arrival I immediately noticed how poorly maintained they maintain the property. There were tall weeds and the place just looked dirty. I walked in and mentioned to the advisor in the front I had an appointment. I was told the wait was at least 5 hours. I explained I specifically said I will be waiting. They also informed me they could not give an inspection tag. These people are not professional and in my opinion they do not run a good business. I would give them negative five stars stars if I could. I called Pep Boys in West Chester and even though I was hesitant to go there I had a surprisingly pleasant experience. I went in to get an oil change and possibly get my brakes done as well. After a almost $600 bill. Come to find out from another reliable mechanic shop closer to home that they never changed the rotors that I was charged for. All they changed were the brake pads. The rotors were factory rotors still on my car and were so corroded that the brake pads were basically not working at the capacity they should have been and could have caused me to get an accident. I'm sorry but I will NEVER get work done by you guys again. I am also in the process of making sure I get money back for everything. If I can't trust you to put brand new parts on my car how can trust that ANY of the work that was done. read more

Mavis fixed replaced my rear struts October 2020. I have had to take my car back at least 4 times to repair my right rear strut. I have currently been without my vehicle since Thursday, November 11th. They have to send my car to an auto body shop to fix what they have damaged. I told them I need my car to work and they are procrastinating about getting me a rental. You would think after dealing with this for over a year, they would be bending over backwards to accommodate me!! I have talked to the Regional manager at least twice regarding this issue. I'm currently waiting to hear from him again to discuss the most recent turn of events. This is beyond frustrating! I have been told that they will keep me up to date about the status of my car. That was a lie. If I don't call them, I won't hear from them. This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a business and to make matters even worse, I don't even think I needed my struts replaced. I think they seen an opportunity to get get over on someone and did just that! I'm hoping they will do what's right and I won't have. To escalate this any further. read more

They take advantage of people who are not car savvy - I was duped by their "caring" attitude. I've been a customer for at least the last 5 years. Shame on me for not paying closer attention to my bills over the years. In 9/2016 I spent $3200 for car repairs on my 2009 Armada. Karl said it was little things that needed replacing and the car would be in good shape for the remainder of it's life. In 1/2017, 3 months later, my check engine light was on and they said it would be $3700 to replace the 2 catalytic converters and manifold. Shocked at the price I got a second opinion and the 2 catalytic converters were replaced for $2,200, $1,500 savings! Since I was then suspicious I reviewed my past bills - over 3 years and 3 months they changed my Front Brakes 4 times - $369, $516, $621 & $1,738..... pretty sure the desk guys work on commission. This place SUCKS and here is why. Last week I called around to different tire spots to see what my best option was for replacing all four tires. Mavis offered me a decent deal that undercut some other places so I went with them even though they were a half hour drive away from where I live. I called, made an appointment and agreed on the type of tire I wanted and price. They were very nice. Well when I went there this morning they took my keys and sent me on my way. An hour later I get a phone call. They took all four of my tires off And then realized they didn't have my new tires at their location!!! They offered me some no name tire I knew nothing about and for the inconvenience said they would give it to me at the same price! Like what?!?! No additional discount. It wasn't even the tire I wanted! How do you check someone in take their tires off and then after all that realize there's no new tires to replace them with? Unintelligent staff and a badly run company. To top it off, the man on the phone was completely nonchalant about the whole thing like it was no big deal. He just wasted two and a half hours on my Saturday and forced me into in a situation where I needed to decide between driving on unsafe tires for another week or purchasing some no name crappy tire. By the casual way he acted I wouldn't be surprised if this happened all the time. Do not go here unless you want to risk your time being wasted. read more

I took my car to Mavis to get some tires. It's close to work and their price was pretty good. When I made the appointment, I mistakenly hit the wrong tires. I called and spoke to Angel who assured me that he had made the change in the system. I dropped my car off at 9:25am for my 9:30 appointment. I waited for about 10 minutes while the service writer argued on the phone with the corporate office over a mistake on his last paycheck. I then left and went to work. Online Mavis says to allow three hours for installation. After four hours and not receiving a call, I called to check on my car. I was told it was almost done and they needed another hour, come in at 2:45. When I arrived at 2:45, I was told it was almost done. After about half an hour, I started to get a bit angry. They kept saying it would be a few more minutes. I asked why it was taking so long and was told that "someone probably came in just before you and pushed everything back a bit". My car was there for nearly six hours at this point. I was then told that I should have told them when I dropped it off what time I would be back. I called an hour earlier and was to.d it was almost done! Finally, the tires were on and the alignment was done. They told me that I really need to get the brakes done. The brakes were done about three months ago. When I went to pay, I looked at the tire description....they put on the wrong tires (I guess Angel never changed the order in the computer). Not that big of a deal as the tires are almost identical. I walked out to get into my car and noticed the interior door handle was filthy. I was going to go back, but decided to just leave. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. SERVICE SUCKS!!! They are not experts. I wanted to get some winter tires on my car and they refused saying the tires were to small for the rims in the back. A complete and utter lie, according to tire rack, and my bmw car manual. If you have no other option and have to ho there avoid George there, he wasn't helpful, even when I had an expert call him about the tires. Would give this place zero stars if I could. They will rip you off. Took my car for an inspection and was told it wouldn't pass without new tires. Came back a few days later and spent nearly $1000 on new tires and everything that goes along with it. I asked him to complete the inspection when he was finished. John called back and told me that my brakes did not pass the inspection. I was pissed to say the least. He further went on to explain that I needed new brake pads AND rotors, not just pads...another $1000. Last year my brakes and tires were in the green after inspection and I have not put that many miles on my car. I told him not to do it and asked for my car back. I have been getting my oil changed here for several years now and have been very happy with the service and prices. However, within the last 12 months it's no longer a simple oil change. The manager John, who is very friendly, will try to hit you up with additional costly repairs. Last week I dropped my car off for a routine oil change and John contacted me recommending additional repairs (including labor), totaling over $600. These "recommended" services were never quoted in the past when it was under different management. I feel like they are just trying to take advantage of me because I am a female. About a month ago, went in for a regular oil change and no other issues. Oil was changed but a 30-45 mins later they returned the car and told us that we needed over $4000 in repairs in order for it to eventually pass inspection. This seemed odd for a simple oil change when we didn't ask for any other assessment and didn't complain about problems nor needed an inspection. Took the car home and asked around about this fishy behavior. Well, we took it to another shop that was highly recommended to us for a 2nd opinion. Needless to say, car passed inspection and no issues identified. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS SCAM SHOP! First, let me admit, I am cheap and a tough customer. They, in no way, tried to sell me something I didn't need. When they make suggestions it is just to keep your car running well so it lasts longer, I can appreciate that! They are VERY reasonably priced. I got a great deal on brake pads. My dealer wanted to charge me $180 and STS was running a special for $79.99. Karl was awesome and very honest. I will go back for 2 new tires and a rotate. I am usually a tough critic but seriously, you're missing out on some good deals at a great place if you don't go here based solely on previous reviews. read more

Went for a PA safety and emissions inspection and they claimed I needed over $800 in work including 4 new tires, an oil change that I had just gotten a week prior, rotors, and brakes. My car is only two years old and properly maintained. I took it to a friend's trusted mechanic and they told me there was absolutely nothing needed on my car and I got my inspection sticker. Beware this place is a rip off! I will never go back here and if you want an honest mechanic, you shouldn't go here either. read more

They gave me a price and I asked if there were any other surprise expenses or information they needed and was told no and proceeded to let me know they'd have my tires on Wednesday and to feel free and bring my car in at 9.... I have my boyfriend go in and take my car he's waiting for half an hour before they not only start packing on over 200 worth of extra charges then tell him my tires aren't even there and they don't know my tire sizes.... extremely unprofessional and a scam. Well, I went to STS today for my annual car inspection. I had an 8:00 appointment and they DID take me on time. Karl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful during the check in process. I waited just over an hour for my car (basically what I had been told in advance). When I got in my car to leave, the interior of my car was filthy! The steering wheel was so dirty that my hands had visible grime on them after touching it, as did the door handle and gear shifter. There were dirt smudges all over the windshield from the mechanic's application of the inspection stickers and there was even dirt smudges on the fabric covering the interior of the windshield pillar. A: How can one be so incredibly messy? B: How can one not notice the mess? C: How can one notice the mess, not care, and return the car to the customer in that condition? I was in a rush so I didn't have time to go in and complain. Also, I was originally told the inspection would cost $60 and it ended up being $80. So, in a nutshell, if you want to spend a bunch of time cleaning your interior and getting jacked for an extra $20 then this is your place! read more

My wife decided to take her car here because another shop cross threaded her lug nut and the bolt broke when we had to remove her tire to remove a nail. They did manage to fix the log bolt, but at this point I am have to assume they over complicated it. They would up saying they need to replace the whole hub because they couldn't press out the broken bolt. I would have been OK if that was all. My wife then received a call that her brakes needed to be flushed because they had to remove the caliper. That is a straight up lie! There is no reason you should have to flush the brakes just because the caliper was taken off the rotor. After being told the car would be ready in 35 minutes we went to go pick it up. Upon arriving we were told they were just going to call us because they couldn't get the car started. There is a glitch, due to an after market remote start, where sometimes you have to remove the key and reinsert it. I went into the shop to find the battery getting ripped out of the car and a new one sitting on the floor. They put the old battery back together and then I was told the checked the oil because the car wouldn't start and found there was no oil. They claimed it was over 3 quarts low! There is no indication of a leak and I have personally followed my wife's vehicle in the past week or so and saw no indication of burning ANY oil. They would up increasing the bill from about $400 to $600 with all the BS. Absolute scam run by a couple of kids! read more
