PLEASE READ if considering the Swarthmore location: I brought my Prius to this shop less than a year ago to replace a front headlight. Less than a year later, the same headlight failed, so I returned and also got an oil change. They replaced the light under warranty and changed the oil, but significant issues followed that I believe violate consumer-protection laws. In their written service report (picture attached), the shop stated that the 12-volt battery was "inaccessible" and that "no starting issues [were] present." However, when I picked up my vehicle, it would not start. My battery had never died before this visit. Their written statements therefore appear misleading and demonstrably inaccurate. When I immediately reported the issue, the shop tested the battery and told me it was in "poor health" (approximately 20%). This testing--performed only after I questioned their initial report--proves the battery was in fact accessible and capable of being evaluated. A basic battery-health check is a routine and industry-standard service, such as when an oil change is performed, and the shop proved it had the ability to conduct it before returning the vehicle to me. Instead, they documented that no starting issues were present and simultaneously claimed the battery was inaccessible. Their later explanations were defensive and inconsistent, including claims about battery accessibility that I believe are misleading, as I have statements from other mechanics confirming that removing and checking the 12-volt battery on a 2010 Prius is relatively simple and quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Notably, during a phone call (which the shop records), Aiden--who to be fair was polite and professional--explicitly acknowledged the error by stating, "They shouldn't have wrote that."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite this admission, the shop's service manager was unreasonable and failed to take responsibility for the inaccurate report. Just look at how they respond to this review and you'll see what I mean by them not taking responsibility for what appears to me as obvious indisputable wrongdoing. They did offer a $50 discount on a replacement battery, but later increased the quoted price by the same amount (after claiming to realize the battery they needed was $50 more than they expected) -- effectively nullifying the promised discount. Because this shop is regulated under the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, their issuance of a service report containing potentially inaccurate and misleading statements may implicate PA Code § 301.5, which prohibits deceptive or misleading representations. I will be filing a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection so this matter can be properly investigated. This is not to mention all the minor hiccups along the way, such as after the battery was replaced when they gave me the keys to someone else's car. And when I got the right keys and turned my car on, it made a strange and concerningly loud rumbling sound I have never heard before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To be fair and honest, I acknowledge that Aiden and several staff members were polite, and the shop's courtesy ride service is convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, these minor positives do not outweigh what I experienced as significant service errors and a lack of accountability. read more

I had a major service done here totaling nearly $3,500. While the mechanical work appears to be solid, the pricing was excessive and the customer service was disappointing. I was charged $132 for a cabin air filter, including $86 in labor -- for a job that takes 5 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I came back because the rotor was hitting the back plate, I politely asked if they could do something to make up for it -- even a small credit or partial oil change next time -- and got nothing but a vague "I'll take care of you."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]No accountability. No goodwill. Just inflated prices and indifference once they've got your money.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wanted to trust this shop, but I can't recommend a place that treats customers like this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My dad called to see if they could take a look at my moonroof that stopped working and was leaky. He was told they could take a look at it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So we dropped it off then my dad got a call saying "diagnostic testing and inspection" was needed to check the moonroof. So then my dad gets an earful about EVERYTHING on the car from the ball joints to tire pressure with pictures and throughout the report that the moon roof is leaky (the main reason for the appt). Then my dad was told the diagnostic costs $210, and they do the diagnostic for all their customers. So beware. Add $210 to whatever the cost of the work your getting done is because they "do that for all the customers". Oh and the moonroof price was $5,000. Waste of time and money. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a horrific experience with PAUL CAMPANELLA'S AUTO CENTER while traveling from New England to Utah in our 36' motorhome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we began having trouble climbing hills on our way to Pennsylvania, we called several repair shops for help. Campanella's told us they knew exactly what the issue was and could fix it--unfortunately, that couldn't have been further from the truth. They replaced a heat sensor, called to say the RV was "fixed," and told my husband to take it for a test drive. Less than a mile down the road, the engine blew up. The RV had to be towed back to their shop--at our expense--and then they told us they couldn't do anything because the motor was blown. We ended up needing another tow and a complete engine replacement elsewhere. Our RV only had 35,000 miles on it. Campanella's never test-drove the vehicle after their "repair," charged us for work that didn't solve the problem, and took no responsibility for what happened. This was a huge financial blow to us and they would not even take a piece of responsibility, nothing. We trusted them to diagnose and fix the issue safely and professionally.
