Went in for a brake inspection. Told me I needed brakes like yesterday even though the sound started the day before. They wanted to charge me $1300 for brakes but said if I did it that day would only be $1000 and said if I didn't get them done they would fail me. I said I think I'm going to take it somewhere else that is cheaper. A shop my family has used for years but about an hour from there in Maryland. The guy again tried to tell me that with the price the other place told me would be a slap job and then my brakes really would fail and that I would really need my brakes done then. We totally understood when they needed to change our appt to an hour later, but after waiting 1.5 hours, we quickly realized the mechanic rotated only two tires on our Ram! Front driver was swapped with back passenger. The other two not touched. No finger prints, the wear evident on outside and the tire that was plugged this week is still on the same side it was when we brought it in. Disgusted that the technician took the easy route and deceive us. We work hard and could have done it ourselves. Backache brought us in to pay Mavis to take care of it. Although not a huge cost to rotate tires, we are on hour 3 now from all the waiting the first time, having to drive back to have the job done right and waiting to have them do it right. We had plans today to do other things! Thanks Mavis for screwing up the day and stealing from us. Despite being a franchise (I try to go to mom and pop's when possible) this location has some really good people working here. The manager is very laid back and hooks me up once in awhile with a good deal or tells me "don't worry about it" if I pop in for a tire rotation. A lot of the time (not always) you can just show up and they can take a look at minor problems right away. For more complex issues, you should contact them after booking an appointment to make sure it's a good day to take your car or if they're too booked because it seems like the website does not have their schedule synced so you can book times that may not be good for them. These guys always come in clutch when I'm jammed up and none of my 'go-to' mom and pop's can check out my car in short notice. They've saved me at least twice by fixing my car before my shift started and I'm grateful to have a Mavis with such a great team. read more

One of the worst places to go for tires rotations and blancs went Monday for one because my left front tire needed balance and rotated they just charged me the money didn't do a job at it the car came out worse went back and nobody knew who done the job read more

This was one of the best experiences I have had with any major auto care business. On the day that I first came to Mavis Tire, I had went to 7 other businesses looking for help. The problem I had was that I was unable to get my new tires installed anywhere because the lug nuts on my car were swollen and either they didn't have the tools to do it or I had to wait days and a week in one case later. I drove to Mavis to see if they could and the gentleman at the counter assured me that he could do the job and do it right then and there. They had my swollen lug nuts and new ones on in about 20mins. I am very impressed with the level of service they provided me and I encourage anybody else to give them a shot. Thanks!!! read more

I started going to Mavis Discount Tire in York just over a year ago and I love this shop. I went yesterday for my safety and emissions inspection and will be returning for needed services. They did a great job repairing my car during my previous visit and they are priced reasonably. Make sure you get your price in writing, or they'll mark it up and screw you royally. I ordered Hankook tires that were listed as $154.99 on their website, but because they ordered in-store, I ended up having to pay $185 per tire for the same tires. NO WHERE DOES ANYTHING SAY THAT THERE IS AN UPCHARGE FOR ORDERING IN STORE! This was after the warehouse screwed up and only sent two of the four tires I was supposed to get, so I ended up having to come back to have the other two tires put on. read more

I'm not sure if they changed people within the past year or so but they went from really good to really bad. I needed an inspection done, first time their inspector had an emergency. Okay not a problem but I never received a phone call to let me know. So instead of that I needed a tire fixed. My sensors were off. They charged me for the wrong thing, something I did t actually need and it was on the wrong tire so had to have them redo it. Now my inspection I had to reschedule to a later date, which I understand things happen. Called to confirm my appointment and they said they are closed for the week. Again I got no phone call. This appointment was scheduled after my inspection actually needed done. I don't get frustrated easily but this is poor customer service. I'll go somewhere else from now on. Would rather pay more for better service. read more
