I am extremely frustrated with the level of service I received. I dropped my car off the night before with a scheduled appointment at 8:00 AM, expecting a simple and quick service, just replacing two tires. I was told the process should take about an hour, and that I would receive a call when my car was ready. It is now 10:00 AM, and not only has the work not been completed, but no one even bothered to contact me with an update. When I followed up, I was told the delay was because you "couldn't find the tire lock." That is unacceptable. Instead of calling me to resolve a simple issue, I had to take an Uber back to the shop myself, only to show your staff that the tire lock was exactly where I originally said it was, in the glove compartment. To make matters worse, after all this delay, I arrive to see mechanics on break, outside smoking, while my car still hasn't been worked on. This is completely unprofessional and shows a lack of respect for customers' time. I planned my morning around this appointment and still have work obligations to get to. What should have been a straightforward, one-hour job has now turned into a major 4 HOUR inconvenience due to poor communication and lack of urgency. This level of service is unacceptable. I expect better accountability, communication, and respect for scheduled appointments moving forward. I can now see why your rating is 2.2! This experience has been incredibly disappointing. I went in for squeaky brakes and I told them my car had a problem where the back brakes needed replacing often. I gave him the keys, for the day mind you, at the end of the day he told me it didn't need brakes. I insisted that there was squeaking and he told me they were experts on Volkswagens and would take a test drive. The next morning I called them and they said it was squeaking and that I need brakes and rotors for $1500. I said just put the pads on the back for me and they said they won't do it. I went to Monroe auto down the road from this place and they did the job for me in no time for $269 and they noticed the problem was the back all along. No more squeaking. I went in there for two tires. First, the wait was ridiculous. The manager tried to convince me to allow a service that he quoted at $1,000. I told him that I wasn't willing to invest that much money in a car that I was planning to sell. He tried twice more by attempting to show me something that I already told him that I wouldn't have any idea whether what he was showing me meant that I NEEDED to spend the money immediately. Mind you, I'd just left another business that I'd asked to inspect the car and I'd paid for their repairs. When I left Mavis Discount Tire I went back to the first business to inquire as to why they hadn't noted the problem. They told me that the repairs identified by Mavis Discount Tires was something that I could do if I was planning to keep the car but not anything necessary so as to render the case "unsafe". I had a flat tire on my truck on the night of August 21, 2025. After changing the tire, I went to Mavis Discount Tire at 1860 N Olden Ave in Trenton, NJ on August 22 to repair my spare tire. Mavis discount told me they couldn't repair it, so I ended up buying a new tire. However, the mechanic refused to install my spare tire properly and was rude about it, saying I had to come back the next day. Frustrated, I went to another Mavis Discount Tire at 3235 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence Township, NJ, where the staff were apologetic and installed the spare immediately. Stay away!! I recently bought an older car. It had a flat. Since it had been sitting for a while, prior to me buying it. I decided to replace all four tires. Saturday morning, I had it towed to the shop, picked it up Sunday, and drove it home. The following week, I road tripped down to Florida. Less than 3 hours into the trip, my car started shaking, so I pulled over. One of my tires was bulging in two places. I called the shop, and the location closest to me was over an hour in the opposite direction. The next one was over 3 hours away. Obviously, I didn't want to drive north, and I was also concerned that my tire would make it that far. I asked if they could reimburse me, so I could get another tire. However, they refused. The fact that they weren't willing to stand by their products and were willing to put my life and the others on the road in danger, is disgusting. I should also add the first person I spoke with asked if I had purchased the extra warranty. The tires had been on my car less than a week!! I decided to take it somewhere very close. The guy said "inn my 15 years of doing this, I've never seen anything like it." He agreed that the tire was definitely clise to blowing, and i probably wouldn't have made it farHe also said it was definitely a manufacturer defect, and he had checked for scuff marks or anything indicating that I had hit a curb or something else to weaken it. I had a horrendous experience here. We are a tax exempt organization, they charged taxes and told me that their corporate would refund the money. Corporate never answered the phone nor an email. A little over a year I brought my van to replace tires. They did it and a the next day after I pick it up, I get a tire light. I called and they said I needed new sensors. After about a year, the van starts to shake so I brought it to a different tire shop because of the bad experience that I here. They told me that they installed the wrong tires. They put car tires in a truck...so two people in my company called back and they told them that it over a year ago and warranty did not cover that. I gave up. A week later I call again and ask for the head manager, he was somewhat nice and told me to bring it back. I did. They took two weeks in changing the tires. The story is that no one wanted to do it because employees don't get paid for warranty repairs. After two weeks I pick it up, as I turn it on, the engine makes a crazy noise!! So apparently, since my van was left outside, someone tried to steal the catalytic converter and could do it, so they left it hanging. They said it was someone over the weekend trying to steal cats and that they will repair it. They did, but I don't know for how long...I'm scared to drive it now. The mechanics, especially the Master Mechanic are very excellent! I took my car to plenty of car mechanics before settling with the mechanics at Mavis and I know that I am safe on the road after they take care of my car! I'm very disappointed in Mavis' service. I didn't have an appointment but was told I could wait for service. I decided to drop-off my truck @ 10:30am. At 2:30, I called to check on the status of my vehicle, I was told the mechanic hadn't had a chance to look at my truck. I called again @ 5pm & they still hadn't looked at my truck. I chose this establishment for my boyfriend to get an oil change because of the location and because they had an available appointment when he needed (Monday 2/24). I called, got a price quote, and scheduled him to go in at four to get his oil change, which they said would take about an hour. On Monday, he went to get his oil changed and it was taking a while so he left around 5 and around 5:45 we still had not heard back and knew they were closing. He called to get a status on his car when he was informed that the oil change was not done and the machine broke. We spoke to the worker that night and she told us that we could come back Thursday and they would do the oil change for free due to the inconvenience. I called Thursday morning (2/27) at 10 am and spoke to, who I was told, was the service manager and confirmed that I would be coming in at 6:30 for the oil change, and they would rotate the tires and top off his fluid all for free, and that it would be done around 8pm. At 6:30, I come into the shop to drop off the car and I was told that it would not be done tonight. Initially, I thought the person at the counter was joking, to which he replied "I wish I was". I explained the situation and he said that there were 7 cars ahead of this oil change and that there was no way it would get done tonight. To 'compensate' for the misinformation, he said he would give us $12 off - at this point I mentioned we were told it was going to be free. I am very disappointed in the management and the lack of communication between employees. There were many hours wasted at this establishment and after two appointments, the oil change still has not been done and we will be going elsewhere. read more

Overpriced, rip-off artists. Went to STS in Hackettstown (very good) to get a price (of $180) on a front wheel bearing for my daughter's car. They couldn't work on it that day, so my daughter took it back to school and went to the STS in Ewing. For the exact same thing, they wanted $350. They do not stand behind their work. Had set of tires put on my chevy impala and alignment checked (and told them to do it if necessary) back in May. A few days ago I noticed excessive wear on passenger front tire. Had to take car into dealer for an airbag sensor recall issue yesterday.7 Their scan machine indicated all 4 wheels were out of alignment. There is no way all 4 wheels could have been knocked out by pot holes or normal wear and tear. Mavis agreed. They did alignment today but I had to pay for it (cost reduced approximately $30). They would not give me a pro-rated price on a replacement tire as I had not purchased the road hazard warranty and because they had given me such a good price on the tires. My advice is go somewhere else. If you go there get road hazard warranty and tell them to do alignment not check it because apparently they do nothing and let the customer suffer the consequences. It should be noted that I do most of the repair work on my 3 vehicles and am fairly knowledgeable about vehicle repair and maintenance. read more

I've gone there four times and my only good experience with them was on my second visit. There was a lady at the desk and she seemed on the ball. The first time I called and asked if the did oil changes. The said yes an I went in about 430 ish and I was waiting and waiting. I saw my car in there and there was nobody else there and after a while, I was afraid they closed and went home without realizing I was still there. Finally, the person behind the desk drove the car back into the front and said it was ready and I owed nothing. Free oil change is nice and everything but was a little suspicious of the whole thing such as did they change the oil. The third time I went, they were to do some repairs I was informed about the last visit. They said I had to leave it overnight and they would call me around 530 or 6 to confirm everything and they would work on it in the morning and ready by the afternoon. The next morning I went to work, had a friend pick me up for lunch and I get a call at quarter to 2 saying they're ready to work on my car and if I agree to doing it. I left my car overnight, did they think I'd say no, forget it. That was disappointment number two, I go in today for an oil change, I'm waiting and waiting and they have my car done waiting outside and they never called me I had to ask them. Every time I go in, they are always in the back screwing around. I like to have some fun at work but come on. My family has taken our vehicles here several times. Aside from routine oil changes and brakes, they also completed more complicated repairs like air conditioners and timing belt replacements. These guys really go out of their way for their customers, they are professional, knowledgeable, competent, and always complete repairs when they say they will. I highly recommend the STS on Olden Ave in Ewing for any all all car repairs as well as tires (we also purchased a set of tires a few months ago and got a reasonable price.) read more

On March 1st my wife took our 2006 Hyundai Sonata into the Mavis Discount Tire located at 1860 North Olden Ave. in Ewing Twp. NJ. Our driver side window would not go up. When I pressed down to roll it up I could hear the motor running so I knew what ever was broke it wasn't the motor. When I came home from work my wife told me she took the car to Mavis because her mother took her 2002 Cadillac Escalade to have the same problem fixed for about $300 plus dollars, but they told her that it was going to cost $940 to fix our window. I called Mavis and spoke to Kwamee (Quam-mee). He stated this was the price he gave my wife. I asked for a price of each part to make it the price $940? He said the motor was $420, the regulator was $175 plus $175 for labor plus $158 for finding out what was wrong with the car. I told him that the motor was fine and all I probably needed was a regulator and he can get me a regulator from autozone down the street for $129. He then stated that price would not be $940 like he stated to my wife but much cheaper since I told him it didn't need a motor. How was my wife quoted that price without them knowing what was really wrong with the car? Wednesday I called to check the status of the car and Joe tells me that they have not gotten to it yet and they'll get to it tomorrow (Thursday), so I say ok. My wife called and they said they didn't get to it yet. I called and told Joe when they start it save the parts they are replacing because I want them. Joe calls my wife and tells her that the car is going to cost $940 to fix. I called Joe back and asked him to tell me how is it that it's costing so much. He states that one reason is because you have to take off the door panel and then another panel to get to the parts, so I'm being charged labor to take the panel off and another labor charge for when they get to the part. He then tells me that the motor is $400 and some change, I need wires for the regulator and $175 for the regulator. I told him the same thing I told Kwame, I looked those parts up and they have the regulator at autozone on Olden Ave. for $129 and I didn't need a motor because the motor was fine. He then says that he doesn't know what's going on really because it's 3 different people working on the car and he only gave me that price because that's what's in the computer. When I got off work I went to Mavis because I wanted to pay them the $158 and take my car to another mechanic. He takes me to the car to show me what has been done. The entire interior of the door was out, bolts and parts on the floor of the car with my door panel In the back seat. I asked to see the wires he said they ordered that go on the regulator. He points to two wires inside of the door and says, "These are the wires you need replaced because the door couldn't open. I told him the door was fine when I brought it in because my wife opened it to get in the car that morning to drive it in and opened the door to get out when she dropped it off. At this point I ask him to put it back together so I can take my car. He says it's going to cost me another $158 for them to do that plus the $158 I have to pay them for when they took off the panel when she brought it in. He then says that he has this car, this car and this car to worry about and he is not wasting any more time on this. At this point, I am feeling like I have been taken hostage. I cannot take my car and risk that all the parts are not there and end up in more of a bind than I feel like I'm in already. Instead of taking the car and paying another $158 for them to put my stuff back I told them to keep it. Joe said he was going to see if he could have it ready on Saturday. So our car has been at Mavis for 4 days now for a window regulator that I'm being charged $940 for plus wires in my door that need to be replaced because for some reason the guys who are working on it did something wrong to the point where the car door doesn't open for them. The next day I called and Joe tells me that I was right and it was not the motor and it should be fixed tomorrow and the price should drop from $940. I said fine and hung up. Saturday morning I called to see if the car was fixed. Joe says that it is not fixed and it won't be till Monday because the guy bringing the parts up from Delaware said it was an accident on the turnpike and he had to turn around. I reminded joe that he told me he ordered the parts on Tuesday, what parts are coming from Delaware? He says I needed the two wires for my door because the door would not open and a new switch. I asked him where did he order the parts and he said DAVIS HYUNDAI on Olden Ave. down the street. I hung up with him and called Davis Hyundai and asked them if Mavis called them and ordered two wires and a switch, he says no. I ask the guy to give me prices for the parts. He tells me $138 for each wire and $170 for the switch. I call Joe back at Mavis and ask him to please tell me how much it's going to cost to fix my car. read more

A lot of negative reviews but my experience was good. I called the day before for an alignment and they set it up for 9:30 the next day. I got there a little early. They took the car in and it was done in 30 minutes. No surprises, no upselling, no telling me what was wrong with the car. I had just done my own shocks and struts and tie rods so there was nothing there to try and sell me and no "problems" to report.
