We've used the Franklin Mavis many times over the years. We've never had any issues with the brakes/ tires/ minor repairs. So, I had no reservations bringing my suv in for brakes and tires. After driving about 200 miles on highways, my car started making crazy sounds and wobbling. Got to our destination and brought it into a different shop to look at it - Mavis never tightened the lug nuts on one tire, and the other tire was missing lug nuts, and the brakes were scraping on a plate. I had driven 200 miles, on major highways, with kids and dogs in a vehicle that was seriously dangerous. I feel lucky we got there in once piece. read more

My wife went for 2 new tires and was quoted $500+ from this merchant. I had just replaced my 4 tires from another merchant and paid $525 complete install. To top it off an 1.5 wait for 2 tires. If I could give negative stars I would. Worst experience ever and I have been to multiple locations. From oil changes to tire changes to anything having to do with Mavis its always been a crappy experience. Wont be going here ever again and going to let everyone I know that this place is absolutely horrible. One location had me drive all the way to the store (25min away) saying they could give me an oil change. Same store different service replaced the wrong tire which I don't know how that even happens. The other store I went to, which apparently they are all separate and cant work with each other, I got my other 3 tires replaced and they never even gave me a warranty on my tires. Didnt even offer it to me. Once I finally got all my tires replaced, I had to get my rim fixed because I was still leaking air, which they never even told me it was a bent rim. absolutely the worse place you can ever bring your vehicle to. go there for an $80 oil change just for the notification on my car to pop up saying "oil change due". so then i took it upon myself to call them as soon as it pops up, worker says "its okay it's completely normal you have oil residue and the car will reset itself after a certain amount of miles". okay so clearly that was false information i then bring it there to come and find out they did $1,000 worth of damage to my car FROM AN OIL CHANGE. manager refused to fix it for free saying it is not their fault (maybe not hire a bunch of 17 year old back yard mechanic's that have no idea what they are doing) my family and i then call corporate to get everything situated just for corporate to tell us yes they will fix it for free considering they did all this damage to my car. So get told it will be done by yesterday around 5pm, go there to pick it up just to be told that the part was not even shipped until 4:30 pm that day, okay understandable they have no control over the shipping and how long it takes, said okay when will it be done they then proceeded to say "it will be the first car we work on tomorrow morning". get a phone call this morning of course like mavis loves to do cover their tracks and do anything for them to get money out of people and tried to tell me its not on their end and i will need to pay $1,000 because of what THEY did. took my car to a different mechanic just for them to look at the car, say it is all on the mechanic who worked on my car at mavis. at least now i know my car will be worker on correctly and not by some retards that dont know what they are doing but will make up any bullshit to take money out of peoples pockets. do not EVER bring a vehicle here the manager is also rude and threw my keys at me when picking up my vehicle. place should be shut down in all honesty. save yourself from the damage they will do on your car just to tell you its not their fault and make up this ridiculous price to pay. I needed to have my headlight light bulb changed and I have used Mavis for my tires and brakes before so I called and asked if they could change a bulb. I explained that I was a nurse, I needed to have the bulb changed as I would be driving in the snow storm. They gave me a appointment at 11am . I arrived at 10:45 am. They asked me if I had the bulb I said no and I went over to auto zone and bought the bulb. I proceeded to wait 45 min and then asked the man with the red hair and beard how much longer it would be. That I was on my lunch break and I had a 11am appointment. He said to me everyone here has a appointment. I said yes but I explained on the phone when I made my appointment that I was a nurse and I would be coming on my lunch break. I asked him how much longer it would be. He went back into the shop took off his mask and proceeded to bullshit with another employee. At 12 noon I asked for my bulb back and said that it was really wrong to treat customers that way. I went there for an oil change and tire rotation. First they told me my lug nuts were swollen and they would not be able to put them back on. I said ok skip the tire rotation. They said ok. The oil change was completed, but was still waiting for my car. Like 15 minutes past and nothing. The guy told me the job would take a half hour. I had to open the door to the garage to get his attention. I ask why am I waiting? My car was sitting unattended. Finally they brought my car out of the garage . Oil everywhere on the hood, the doors front and back on the drivers side, inside oil I had to clean my steering wheel. As I drive home I smell oil burning because they spilled oil on the manifold. This was the most unprofessional body of work I've ever experienced. That mechanic should not be allowed to work on hot wheels. To top everything he tried to charge me 90 dollars for this mess. I would give 0 starts if possible. Got a battery replaced there 2 weeks ago. A week later my battery charging light came on. Went back and sat there for an hour for them to tell me nothing was wrong. The following day started my car the light came back on and my dash board went BLACK mid driving. I had to pull over and leave my car in a parking lot. I called them and let them know and I brought it back. I sat for 3 hours for them to tell me I needed an alternator. So they replaced that and sent me on my way. The next day I go to work and the light comes on AGAIN!!! And a cluncking noise coming from under my hood. Turned out the entire belt was SNAPPED and on the ground. Had to get it towed BACK THERE because they put it in. I sat there for ANOTHER 3 HOURS!!!!! And observed them this time. After the first 1.5 hours they came over and said I would be done in 10 minutes. 1.5 hours later was closing time. I watched 4 mechanics stand over my dashboard watching for a light. When I questioned them they lied. I ended up leaving that day and I was .25 miles down the road and the light came back on AGAIN AND MY DASH BOARD WENT BLACK!!!!!! WASTED TIME and nothing fixed. Had them tow it to the dealership the following day and they said they would get me an enterprise car. Never heard anything and when I called enterprise THEY GAVE THEM THE WRONG PHONE NUMBER. So I am still without a car going on day 4...heard from dealership and they failed to connect alternator connector. After the dealership fixed that the problem was STILL happening. So they came to the root of the problem & I bought an alternator for NO REASON!!!! Still waiting for a call from regional manager. I have never received worse service in my life. I booked an appointment on 12/28/2019 to bring my vehicle in for new tires. I scheduled the appointment for 9:30 am on 12/31/2019 at the Franklin NJ location. The Mavis website was excellent but that was the best part of the experience. I figured I would drop off the vehicle on my way home from work on Monday and got there before the store closed. I gave the attendant my car key and he looked up my reservation. He stated you are all set and the manager standing next to him said have a good night and we will call you tomorrow once the tires have been replaced. On Tuesday around 12:40 i figured I would call MAvis and get an update on my vehicle as I had not received any call. When I called and gave my name the attendant state let me check on that for you and seemed a little panicky. He told me the car was the next one to go up on the lift. I asked him why as I had a 9:30 appointment and he did not have a good answer. About 1 hour later I got a call from Mavis and they stated the tires which I put in the request for on Saturday were not in stock that they went to look and they did not have them. This is an establishment with extremely poor management. How do you book appointments and not perform inventory checks ahead of time to be able to fill your orders. Made a reservation for 10:00 on 12/9. Arrived at 9:00. Dropped off vehicle. Stated that we would pick up the vehicle in the morning. Morning of 12/10, we arrived and the car had not been moved, tires had not been changed. Went inside, and the manager JOHN simply stated that they "didn't get to it." No explanation other than "We were busy." They didn't call us. JOHN didn't even bother to apologize until I flat out asked him for an apology. Will never do business with these people again. I asked JOHN if there was a district manager I could speak to, and with a smug expression on his face, he just said that there was no district manager available on Sunday. Appt. on 9/27 for oil change and tire rotation @ 11AM. Work took double amount of time to complete, svc advisor's communication (Ricky Doe) was non-existent, very unfriendly demeanor and only toward me. Other customers were treated differently (non-hispanic). On top of that, he tried to rip me off for additional charge I did not authorize. The next day 9/28, when I went back to bring the overcharge error to his attention, Ricky Doe finally acknowledged me by raising his eyebrow and insisted the charge was correct (which it wasn't). After voicing my disagreement, he then told me the best he could do was to give credit toward the next service. Afterwards, I spoke with the service manager (Ryan Doe) and he provided a credit for the additional charge. At no time did either person apologize for their error and wasting my time. When I requested their full names, they totally refused and said they did not have to provide that information. When I told them I would be contacting headquarters about my displeasure, Ricky Doe said "go ahead, I don't care". Ryan Doe brought up the poor rating I gave on the review (and rightfully so). These are the people representing Mavis Discount Tire! The sad part about it is I have been coming here for over a year, bringing multiple cars here, a Mavis cardholder and that has no bearing or merit. As a customer, they do not care about losing my business and in this climate we're living in there should be zero tolerance for racism. read more

BEWARE of this facility!! I brought my car in for service a minth ago. They did an oil change service. When driving a couple weeks ago, I noticed a loud noise coming from my engine. I called my dealership and they would send a towtruck to pick up car. Prior to their arrival, my husband turned car around in driveway and oil poured out all over. When car aruved at dealership, they determined the oil filter was not on properly on which caused the oil to pour out resulting in a damaged engine. My dealership advised it was the responsibility of STS since they last did this service. The Manager and Assistant Manager went to see car at dealership and assured me that they would cover damages . Days later they advised their regional manager of STS refuses to take responsibility and cover damages I have written to corporate with no response . Thankfully my dealership was extremely generous in covering the replacement of my engine. DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY! If I could select zero stars I would. Absolutely the worst place to get tires on a vehicle in the area. I'm not saying that Mavis or STS are bad company. What I'm saying is the location on route 23 in Franklin is ran by incompetent and inexperienced employees. Here's the reason why i feel this way. They lost the wheel lock for my lug nuts. So instead of saying hey we lost it and we're gonna order a new one to get the existing one off they decided to use a air hammer to try and get them off. Well. They Destroyed my rim trying to get it off. Which they didn't. Instead of stopping there they went to the next wheel and did the same thing. Finally some common sense kicked in and they stopped at the second rim they destroyed. They refused to replace my wheels and only agreed to having them shipped off to be refurbished. Which they said would take no more then 3 days. They refused to pay for a rental car for me while my car was inoperable. So I had to shell out the money for a rental. So there's days went by and my truck is still not ready. It ended up taking 2 weeks to get the rims back. Two weeks i had to pay for a rental. Still refusing to pay for my rental until I contacted the company and spoke to the district manager who reimbursed me. They ordered a new wheel lock kit since they lost the key. However they ordered the wrong one. So... now the rear tires have a new wheel lock set on them and the front wheels still have the old wheel lock on them. So I can't get the front wheels off. Instead of ordering the right set they tell me they're gonna try and get the wheels off without it. I was absolutely not gonna let them try and take them off again without it... why... so they could ruin the front rims as well... instead I took care of it myself.... and it gets better. I had an alignment done at the time the tires were put on... or say they say they did an alignment. After a couple weeks I could tell the tires were wearing uneven. I went back and told them. They placed it on the machine and come backs and tell me that all four tires are extremely out of alignment. I explained to them that they did the alignment just a couple weeks earlier so it should be aligned. They tell me that I must of hit something and messed up the alignment. Which didn't happen. They wanted to charge me for another alignment. I said absolutely not. I brought it to Sparta tire. The guy who did the alignment said he had to use the touch to loosen up the nuts Bc they haven't been moved in a long time. So the great people over at Mavis did nothing to my truck but put it up on the lift and charge me for an alignment. So, back to the tires... after I got my vehicle back 2 weeks later they did nothing as far as giving me a discount for all the aggravation and inconvenience they caused me. Did nothing about the bullshit alignment they supposedly did on my vehicle. Did nothing about the wrong wheel lock kit they replaced. They did nothing. Worst customer service I've ever experienced in all aspects of dealing with any business. I highly recommend that you don't go there but drive down Rt23 south 2 miles to Franklin tire. read more

I was at nearby golf resort, tire light went on, so I called in am and they told me to come along saying there might be a queue but they would get me in as soon as possible. I drove over, dropped it off, walked across street for breakfast at diner. (How convenient is that?) When I came back, they had completely tested it and nothing wrong at all. They had checked my record electronically were able to see what other tire related services I had at other STS outlets and identify age of tires. They were very professional. They didn't even charge me for the diagnostic. That is quite amazing. I truly appreciate the integrity and professionalism of this STS auto center. All of the people I interacted with were just great. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Incredibly disappointing. Brought my car for brakes and to have a belt addressed. Got a call that I needed an axel, so I had them replace it. A few days later as I was driving, my car would shake side to side when going downhill. I brought the car back, and they told me it wasn't shaking (even though it clearly was) and I needed new tires. Bought new tires, same problem. Realizing that I was not going to have the issue resolved, I brought it to a REAL, credible mechanic. He discovered that there was an issue with the couplings / differential, so that was replaced. Though the issue seemed to be resolved, the shaking returned a few days later. He dug deeper and discovered that the axel was only partially replaced. He called Mavis and confirmed that the axel in question was, in fact, the one they pretended to replace. He explained that it was as thought they had all good intentions of replacing the entire thing, though they probably did not realize how involved and time consuming this is on this model car. The couplings/ differential went bad as a direct result of the unethical, unprofessional, shoddy "work" that was done. So they did a hack job, replacing part of a new axel, but leaving part of the old axel and rigging up a way to connect the two, which compromised the safety of my car. If you don't know what can happen to you when your axel malfunctions while driving, I suggest you Google it. They knowingly did a job that was faulty, and sold me new cars when I returned to inquire. All in all, between the cost of the parts and labor, along with having to rent a car, my out of pocket expenses exceeded $2000.00 to fix the work (or lack of) that Mavis did. Not to mention the money I paid to them to do the job initially. The company is impossible to deal with as far as a resolution is concerned, and the district "manager" is a creep, who has not denied the error, but is refusing to reimburse me as he should. He offered $350, which does not even cover the cost of the rental car x 3. I would keep driving past this shady place. There are many reputable places in Sussex county- stay away from this one unless you need more problems. read more
