You remember ... you go in because your brakes are squeaking and before you know it, they're proposing to replace upper control arms, calipers, power steering and brake fluid flushes and giving you an $800 estimate. Don't get your vehicle brakes done at this Mavis Discount. They will try to con you into getting a complete brake job done without cause. They did it to me. I took my Nissan there when I heard a noise emanating from the front of my car. They told me I needed a complete brake job. My Nissan had only 30,500 miles. Made an appointment for an inspection. Got there on time and was told they were just getting to the appointment an hour ahead of me. OK, I planned on some delay. The car was put on the lift an hour later. 1 1/2 hours into it I asked if the car would be ready soon. Told me they were working on it. At the 2 hour mark I checked again and now was told it would be a while before they could do it. Had the car taken off the lift and I left. Will never darken their door again. How do you spell ripoff? M-A-V-I-S. This place is something else. I notice a screw in my tire so I make my way down. Guy takes a look at it and says. That's all the way in there. Your gonna need a new tire. But there's a catch. Your tire is discontinued so you got to get a different brand. And if your get a different tire you have to replace all four because you cant ride on different types of tires. So I said to myself maybe I should get a second look. I go to tire discount center, and the guy pulls the screw out with his hand. What do you know? It was stuck in the tread. Free of charge. I saved $400 plus dollars. read more

I'd rather drive on a bald tire than have them touch my car again. I called to price and they gave me a great figure with discounts but of course when I went there and paid for the work it was nearly $50 more than they told me with a bunch of charges because of "the type of car I have" even though I told them over the phone and they did not mention any extra charges. I brought my own tires and it still took them three hours to change them, on a week day! One of the tires had a hole and the worker still charged me for four tires thinking I wouldn't notice after the price was much higher than I was told when I agreed to go there. When I did notice he told me just to come back and they'd change it. I came back three times, one time they even told me flat out no because they were "short staffed" eventually after the third try I just got a refund, which I think they also low balled. I was treated well by this location and will be back for future work. The team was very knowledgeable a helped me understand the severity of the issues impacting my truck which is why instead of just 4 tires, I also purchased new front struts. I was surprised to see the review with the guy backing into the garage door though, that's bad press and they would have been better served to resolve that issue as quickly as possible instead of letting it escalate into a bad Yelp review. Got 4 new tires in April 2015. They were supposed to balance the tires and do wheel alignment. I kept taking the car back to Mavis because I heard a noise. They kept saying it was fine. I took it for a oil change to Honda in July 2015. They put it on the machine, they stated I need a wheel alignment. I then went back to Mavis to get the wheel alignment and tire rotation. Place of unqualified mechanics & Poor service managers.If you buy tires you can forget ever having then rotated there they will not give you a appointment and when you show up at any Mavis location 2 hour wait then when 2 hours come another hour wait .They discourage you from having it done because they are not making money. read more

A really good and reliable place to get tires. This is the second set I've had done there . Quick, professional and painless.

Mixed reviews tires great price. People very nice and helpful except I wanted to replace my two back tires. The guy said the fronts are bad okay no problem take the ones from back move to front put new ones on back. They changed tires in half hour on the way home car was shaking bad thought it would smooth out couldn't go back because they closed. Had a trip to Washington, D.C the entire time it still shook over 60 mph. When I got back home took it to Mavis guy said might need a front balance no problem. Sitting in waiting room guy called me to back showed me that the reason was because one tire was bald on the inside and the other was bald on the outside. Now this is where I have the problem why wasn't I told about this when I had the tires replaced the only thing they told me about was my breaks. So they didn't see this problem before why not. I had a bad experience a long time ago with same location thought things changed. Tried to give them another chance. Your messing with people's lives here when you changed the tires you should've said something about I needed two more. I drove down with my wife and four kids. Both Mavis locations in Middletown are atrocious. I made an appointment 3 days ahead as per the advice given by one of the employees at the Rt 211 location. Went in for an alignment, rotation and a leaky tire (3rd time, they can't install the tire properly). After 3 hours, they fixed the tire (maybe, we'll see) then proceeded to tell me I would have to wait another 2 hours because there were still 3 cars ahead of me for alignments. My car was in the bay for over an hour and it took THAT long to REMOVE the tire, sand off the sealant they slathered on, then re install ONE TIRE. Again, they've already done this but didn't install it properly. Also ran into a friend of mine who was in there for his 3rd realignment because they can't get it right. The "manager" was blaming everything on the "new guys" and everyone quitting. Never his fault. They're backed up with work yet there's 4-5 employees smoking cigarettes and talking outside of the bays. This place is terribly ran. I am done with Mavis. The 17M location is just as bad, if not worse just in case you're wondering. read more

I finally get a customer service representative who listened but unfortunately all he could do is pass a message to the regional manager who wouldn't fix my car and tried to strong arm me the first time. Jenna is wasting people's time by saying they can help they are messengers. Once you deal with the regional manager that's where it stops. So Jenna if you can't get me above a regional manager please stop telling me you can help cause I now know you can't. $2145.52 in damages. Once again I was there I saw what happen in which they also said they had it on video until I asked to see it then the video was inconclusive they then admit to the damages until the bill came in now the strong arm begins take it to the shop I choose or we won't fix the all the damages and that's where it ended. I went there to get a battery and quote on tires. They gave me such a good deal i could not pass it up. When replacing my tires they noticed my alignment was so far off they couldn't leave it like that and ruin my new tires. Without asking they just fixed it. Knowing my budget they didn't charge me extra. I asked why and they said they wanted it right! They didn't want the new tires to be damaged. WOW i honest machanic shop. I WILL return. read more

3 months ago bought tires and tie rod because of shaking on passenger side and was told that was what I "needed" after they were done they say you need shocks and struts ($700) so "it'll still shake". Thank my God I got a second opinion. apparently there's nothing wrong with the struts or the shocks nor is it in their computers as a recommended fix... So be mindful they do cover their a$$, not yours. turns out the shaking was the wheel bearing they never even checked they wouldn't honor the warranty on the now bald 3 month old tires let alone own up to telling customers they'll fix sh!t that isn't broke I would highly recommend them if for some reason you enjoy paying to get screwed no vaseline.hope this at least helps someone ""GET A SECOND OPINION"" 1 star is too much, 2 too much read more
