Wish I could give this place zero stars. Went in for an oil change and left with an oil spill . Same night as "oil change" I started smelling burning brakes so I brought my car into my dealership . What they found was Mavis never tightened the oil cap and had oil blowing back onto my brakes and created a mess on the undercarriage . On top of that they never changed oil filter . Unfortunately they're incapable of routine work . Thought about going in to complain but whatever they could offer me , wouldn't be worth the hassle it would more than likely create. Don't go to this location! I had used this location for many years and never had any issues.if I had an appointment, my car was taken in promptly and serviced and I was out of there usually in half an hour. If I "drive in" without an appointment, no problem - I Was usually out within an hour. This last time I went though, on Feb 2, 2022, I had an appointment at 9am. My car was sitting there until 9:25. Mechanics inside the garage were standing around making jokes. As time was passing and I realized I wouldn't be able to pick up my mother from her doctor's appointment at 9:45, I mentioned how it's the longest I've ever had to wait for an oil change when I had an actual appointment. The guy at the desk got very defensive and had a lot of attitude. It was quite childish. The manager came over, mentioned how, when you go to the doctor you have to wait...blah blah blah No said that was all well and good. All I said was I never had to wait an hour for an oil change with an actual appointment at that location before. It's a fact. I don't know why they changed managers, but the new situation has lost me as a customer forever. I will go to the one on Dolson. Also, I asked if it was the same oil used as always for my car, yet the price was $20 more. Bye!!! read more

Now it is going to cost me MORE money to get everything fixed. I previously made an appointment for an inspection on Monday on my day off. They called me to tell me the inspection machine wasn't working. I rescheduled on Saturday at 12pm. They promised to take care of it as soon as possible. It took 2 hrs to start the inspection and 2 hours to put on 2 front tires. Missed a memorial service for my friends son who passed. They tried to apologize and compensate me with a $21 inspection. I refused to accept this. They have lost me as a customer. read more

Slower than snails! Single Mavis tech took almost two hours to install/balance 4 tires. I watched the entire operation and it was painful to watch. I had an 8 AM appt, but they didn't pull it in until 8:25 AM. I asked them not to do their multi-point inspection - because that could have doubled the time as it did once for a NYS inspection. Ain't nobody got time for that! The one thing that was right is Luis gave me a price on the phone that was accurate. I always do a once-over to ensure things look right and had to go back in to get my lock lug adapter and extra lugs. It's never good to have that much time watching and analyzing lackluster performance and attitudes exhibited by the staff. They could be making so much more money - aka moving cars through faster - if someone lit a fire under their butt. It seems they are content that employees even show up (seriously). My bad, I usually hit an establishment up the street (giant American Flag) that has me out in under 15 minutes without all the fuss! Mavis, sorry, but you can do much better. read more

I was sent to Mavis by the worker at AutoZone because he couldn't assist me with changing my tail light bulb. I am a recent widow and this kind of thing was something my husband would always handle. When I left AutoZone I felt defeated, and afraid Mavis wouldn't be able to help me today or charge me an arm and a leg for the service. A very nice young man named Rayme greeted me. He was so friendly and professional, I explained my current situation of now not having someone to change the bulb and ask if someone there could do it. I must of looked sad, lol, because he asked me to smile. Then took my car in and 10min later it was finished. He wouldn't let me pay anything for his service to my car. I know it's a small thing, changing a light bulb, but I am beyond grateful to Rayme, and this tells me to not think twice about going back to Mavis when my car needs servicing. read more

Got 4 new tires, good price after shopping around. Service good, had oil change and wheel alignment. My tire pressure monitor was on after changing all four tires. I was told after 50 miles it would go out. Well over 50 miles it did not go out. I called again and brought it in. They checked it and said that the tire pressure monitor was bad. Replacement would be 70$!!!! The monitor was not bad when it was brought in!!! This is not the first set of tires I have Ever bought!! This never happened before. If you're looking for a friendly and accommodating service, this is definitely not the place. If you come in and they say you can bring the car back in a couple of months if there's a problem, then you decide to come back, they'll give you a hard time saying that it will not solve your car's problem because it's not what's causing this and that and blah blah. The point is, their warranty will work if you fight for it. They're going to give you that look like "you don't want to pay, then we don't want to service your car." This place needs to have a friendly atmosphere. I told myself never to return to this place but hey, I know I have warranty so I'm back again. They're going to try to rip you off. Husband went in for a tire rotation. Wait was pretty long due to a backlog in appointments and a lot of walk ins. When the work was done, the service manager by the name of "Christopher" told my husband that he was all set and that everything looked good with the car. When my husband went to pay, Christopher said it was on him, no charge due to the inconvenience of the long wait. Tire technician by the name of "Chris" who did the actual work was also extremely friendly and made sure we had a good experience with them. My mother in law's car had to get NYS inspection. What we were told was a quick easy repair turned into 2 MORE trips due to other parts mysteriously malfunctioning. After 6 days in their shop, she finally got her car Tuesday. She drove to our house Wednesday night, which is a 25 minute drive and said her car was making weird noises again. Well long story short she drives her car home today and it blows up in FLAMES! They took all her money for the car to explode, and we aren't talking a couple hundred dollars but $1400. So recently my husband and I visited to have the car balanced and aligned amongst other things. Those two things cost $170, they gladly charged and did not even complete the job. I found that their "service advisor,," a fellow named Steve, to be dishonest. Steve either lied or was misinformed about the warranty on the tires I had previously purchased at Mavis (STS), although he didn't investigate before telling me the issue was not covered. He knowingly lied in the presence of, and complicit with, a manager about the specifications of the tires I had installed and the brand of the shocks and struts they installed. My attempts to inform the corporate office of his deceptiveness were unsuccessful, as no one bothered to call me back. They took over 5 hours to install tires, struts, and shocks. The struts were not adequately tightened and I had to have that done after having driven to Florida. They are not trustworthy and customers should consider how much money and effort they want to expend trying to get truthful advice and accurate documentation. read more

Get to my appointment on time and am told they are short handed so it would be an hour before they even get me in. So why even have appointments if you aren't going to honor it. I am going to preface this review with the statement that the STAFF of this location are typically as helpful as they can be. The issue I have is with the actual SERVICE I receive. I have told this to Bob, one of the staff there, and I will repeat it to whoever reads this: My repeat customer status with this Mavis is purely out of convenience, given its close proximity to my job. If there was another shop I could go to, where the services might be better, I would be there in a heartbeat. The most recent issue: I Dropped my car off on Friday Oct 28th to get my Oil Changed, as well as my brakes checked. I have the lifetime warranty option on my pads, and given the locations proximity to my job, its pretty convenient to drop the car off and pick it up on my dinner break. So i dropped the car off to get worked on, and called around 6:30pm to check on its status. I was told my oil change was done and my brakes "looked beautiful." I picked my car up, drove it home later that night, and was happy. I was driving into work today and my brakes started to grind. I stopped back by the location, Luis took a look at the brakes in the lot and said besides a "fading" effect on one of my rotors, everything looked fine. I opted to have them look things over anyway to be on the safe side. I got a call about 30 minutes later, letting me know that my front Rotors and brake pads were "shot" and they needed to be replaced to the tune of over $200. My confusion and frustration comes from the inconsistencies with what each service tech and staff member says. Whoever i spoke to on Friday said my brakes "were beautiful," and I come to find out they were not even looked at? Luis tells me i have 50% life left on my brake pads, and then Bob calls and tells me that my pads and rotors are shot. Now, I am being given a "reduced cost rate" to repair this, to the tune of $160, when just 4 days ago I was LIED TO and told everything was fine. A few months ago, I got a routine oil change. about a month after said oil change, my oil lamp began illuminating on my dash. I brought the car back that time and they told me there was virtually no oil in my car. I had no leak, they confirmed that, and once they PUT OIL IN MY CAR, everything was fine. This is unacceptable, and I want to know what Mavis Tires intends to do about it. I've already emailed Customer Relations, and I have yet to hear back from them. read more

But, my tire was punctured to the effect that I could not add any air (it was losing air faster than I could fill it), and figuring that I had an appointment in the Middletown area that day, I installed my spare and made an appointment with Mavis Discount Tire in Middletown. I arrived on time and they could only "see my car" within 2 hours... He even told me that perhaps I called the main number (given on the website), next time I should call their direct number... Sorry, but just I couldn't wait it out... Frustrated I stopped into a local gas station who told me to drive to Tire Discount Center on the Route 211. I pulled in without an appointment, 3 people handled my tire from A-Z, I was out in minutes - at a much better price! Wow! was all I can say... Thank you! read more

My mother in law recently took her vehicle to get new brakes. All she needed was brakes. They scammed her into replacing struts,shocks etc etc.. Over 1200$ when all she needed were brakes. I confronted the manager who apologized profusely and said that it was the culture. He actually told me that he would replace the brakes in my car for free as compensation. It doesn't work like that. This manager said that he is trying to change the culture at Mavis to not rip people off. That was his exact quote to me. read more

I had a very poor experience with Mavis. I went in for a regular NYS inspection, the lady brought me out into the garage to show me some of the items that would be replaced in the near future. She said my inspection had passed, then conveniently found one small thing that was wrong "that she had overlooked". She then decided to fail me for the inspection, after she had said I passed, then conveniently had all the items on her computer screen I would need to replace. I said politely that I would like to speak with my husband who is very handy with vehicle part replacements, all the while she rudely continued to try to talk me into expensive repairs, and even wanted me apply for the mavis credit card to finance this "repair". Most of the items she had listed seemed unnecessary to replace and I feel I was getting roped into many unnecessary charges. Thankful I decided to walk away and have the "repairs" done elsewhere. DO NOT USE THIS MAVIS! Unless you want to be extremely frustrated! I took my truck to the Mavis Middletown NY - 560 Route 211 East on 10/5/21 to get new brakes, rotors, an oil change, and an inspection. This garage wast a sh!t show. It was chaotic and disorganized. I was there for 5.5 hours and they did not finish the replacement of the brake shoes or the inspection. During the time I was waiting a car rolled out of the repair garage and hit another car parked in the lot! Yes, you heard that right... A CAR ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND HIT A CAR IN THE PARKING LOT!. Back to me.. They told me the brake shoes needed to be ordered from the dealer and were unable to be delivered until the next day. I made an appointment to get them installed after work that week. I showed up for my appointment but they did not honor the appointment time and I waited for 2 HOURS! My car didn't even make it into the garage. I asked for a refund and the manager, Chris, took my card, phone number, and email and told me it would be processed the next day when their corporate office re-opens. I asked him for a printout, but he said there is no printout, i'll get it in my email. I did not get an email. I called several times over the next two weeks and was told Chris would call me back, but he never did. When I called this morning I was told Chris was on vacation until next week, and nobody in the shop could process the refund but him. I then called and emailed the corporate office. They told me the regional manager would get back to me. I then got a call from the same guy I spoke with earlier who said he could not process my refund. Amazingly he was now able to process my refund... BUT I was told by Chris my refund was $190 and this guy said it was $80. We went through what I should be refunded and he then said it was $120 and they would not refund the inspection (which didn't occur because they needed to install the brake shoes before the inspection). The moral of the story is this.... This garage is a joke. It is unsafe (cars are just rolling out of the garage), they are unresponsive to calls, they will lie to you over the cost of repairs, they will steal your money after they do not do their job, and you will wait for many hours for repairs. In total this has cost me 9 hours, I have to drive back there to get a refund, and the refund is going to be $70 less than what I was told. DO NOT GO HERE! Find a place with honest people who run a safe repair shop. read more

I am very disappointed at what Mavis has become. A business that seemed so promising when they opened on 211 has turned into pushing unnecessary fluid flushes and overinflating the gravity of mechanical situations. I brought my car in for an inspection and they cited all kinds of issues and concerns. Fast forward, I pulled my car out of there and went down to road to a competitor asking for those very repairs to be made. The shop would not do the work, telling me it is simply not necessary. Oh, and they thoroughly inspected and passed my car. Sadly, Mavis has lost this customer for good. You should have kept it simple fellas. read more

Made an appointment for this past Saturday for an oil change and when I get there I am told they are short staffed for me to come back another day and they will honor my appointment. I arrived there a few minutes ago and I am approached the minute I get out the car. I explain my situation and the same story comes out the guy's mouth. They are busy and my wait is going to be extra long. I don't understand why they offer services but can't provide them. I visited this dealer early on a Tuesday morning. The Manager assisted me in choosing four (4) new tires for my SUV. I also had an alignment done after the install to ensure even wear. The entire job ran just shy of $1,000.00 and took a little more than 3 hours. An assistant telephoned to make suggestions for other work to be done and I had to firmly reject this additional work a couple of times. Not withstanding, the job they did on installing new tires and aligning the wheels turned out good. A warning to to those who will be waiting for their vehicle might be that there is nothing to do within walking distance as Sam's Club and a Home Goods store are the only close establishments, . . .so be sure to bring a good book to read. read more

If I could chose no stars I would! This place doesn't know what they're doing! If you want your car to be worse then when you brought it in then Mavis 211 is it! I left my car there all day and they didn't realize they never did my tire rotation and oil change, they then rushed to do it while we waited. Now my car is making a horrible knocking noise by the back tire! We took it back today, they claimed they fixed it. As soon as I started driving and hit the brakes there it is again! And then I realize someone has smudge oil all over the ceiling of my car!! I call the corporate line and all they can do is "pass on your message". Took my wife's car in for new tires and an alignment. The manager called me and said the struts and shocks were beat, especially the rear. I checked my records and realized it had only been 22,000 miles since I replaced them. When I went to pick up the car, the manager again tried to sell me the struts and shocks. At that time I told him I had recently changed them and there's nothing wrong with them. He then said he based his recommendation on the car's mileage. I then reminded him that he told me just a few hours before that the rear shocks were completely bad. He said "I'm sorry sir". I was able to be squeezed in Saturday morning, the service and customer service was wonderful, and I was even given a slight discount on something I needed.
