We had a terrible experience there. We just got a used car from another state and went there for inspection. The car passed the inspection from another state already, and when they did NY state inspection, they told us the rear brake was low and advised us to get a new one. So we spent $1000 on that. And we didn't negotiate the price, which was a mistake. While we were waiting, we saw all other customers negotiate, so don't forget to do that if you want a more reasonable price. After the replacement, it passes the inspection again. And we were on our way cross state for the holiday. Only after about 30 miles, we noticed the rear brake had major issues and it was not safe to drive, but by that time, we were already in New Jersey. We had to call towing company spending money to tow it, and it definitely delayed our trip. We went back the next day, and they wouldn't take accountability for this. They said when they inspected it, it was all fine. Even when we ask them, how come this happened after we spent $1000 replaced a new brake. This is unacceptable. They did end up repairing it for free, but we couldn't make to our holiday gathering on time and wasted so much time waiting for the expensive towing. read more

super weird experience. i went to get an inspection. my check engine light was on (I thought due to a loose gas cap), which I told them when I brought it in. They said no problem and they'd figure out why the light was on. Then, before inspecting my car, someone came out and said my car would fail inspection because of the check engine light. He asked if I wanted them to run diagnostics. I told him yes, that's why I was there. He said "we aren't a full service shop" It seems like they'll only inspect it if it's 100% going to be approved? but I'm also not sure how they'd know that before actually inspecting it. He seemed unwilling to run diagnostics to tell me what I needed fixed. He kind of just stood there saying it's going to fail inspection until I said okay thanks, and gave back my keys. It was really weird. seemed like they may have overbooked and wanted me out. I also had a 2:00 appointment and they didn't start looking at the car until 2:30. definitely do not go for an inspection. read more

These guys are superrrr unprofessional, rude, dishonest, and waste of money !!! Don't go here man. I've had an awful experience with them and so have a lot of other people I know. They tried to charge my sister $500 to replace 2 tires!! That type of disrespect is unacceptable especially at a big chain like Mavis. My sister got her tires changed here a year ago and they put all the wrong sizes. They also gave us a "new" spare that had a massive nail in it! I just want to start by saying that these guys are amazing at Mavis. I had an emergency with my front right tire as it was losing pressure rapidly. I looked at other places but most of them had appointments available in 2-3 days. I got on Mavis's website and immediately scheduled an appointment within an hour since they are close to my house and are opened 7 days a week. They called me a few minutes later to confim my appoinment and gave me a pricing over the phone (very reasonable prices by the way) and answered all my questions. As soon as I got there, the front desk guy kindly and very attentive checked me in. We went to my car to assess my tire. They quickly took my car in and fixed my tire and also rotated them since I needed a rotation. I was impressed at how fast they fixed and rotated my tires at such a great price. Also, as I was leaving the shop, the guy who serviced my car waved at me with a smile even though he was running inside to escape the rain. I am definitely making this my tire shop from now on. When I'm due for new tires, this will be my shop since they do tire rotation for free if we purchase and get them done here. I strongly recommend this store and thank you so much everyone at Mavis for such an excellent and high standard service. read more

Came here after leaving Meineke because Meineke said they couldn't help me today. I called this location to explain my issue before I drove there and they told me to bring the car in. Got here and everyone was super nice. Dropped my car off at about 8:50am and will follow up about results. They called me around 12:20pm but I missed it because I was working. I called back around 1:50, they explained what they had to do and the pricing was way more than I expected because everyone told me spark plugs are cheap but I ended up paying $849. This is expensive to me but I needed it done today because the way the car was jumping scared me. Got it done here, they finished around 3:15pm. The price was my only complaint but I think labor fees and taxes played a big part and honestly they were super sweet here and professional. I know there are 2 Mavis in Ossining but this one is the best! Definitely go here versus Meineke down the street. read more

Free air hasn't worked for over a month, they don't seem to care about it at this location.

First I would like to say I support local businesses however there comes a point where it doesn't make sense. Second I've this location numerous opportunities however every visit results in mistakes and additional visits. Early Nov I had this location install two front tires and they tried to charge me for a brake flush even though I didn't ask for it. Then I had to return since they charged me for TPMS even though my car doesn't have it (yes my car is that old). I had to stop by again (third visit) since my new tire was losing at least 1 psi per day and may have not been sealed correctly. As I was leaving I noticed a missing hub cap which was in my engine bay damaged! The mechanic was able to put it on my car however shortly thereafter it must have fallen off. If this wasn't a local business there's no way I would ever return and the poor service explains the ratings! Stupid me! Last week I made an appointment to have my rear tires replaced. When I made an appointment, I wasn't asked for tire size and make, so the next day I called this location asking if they need this info. Someone told me "no need. We have all the standard tires and sizes in stock". So when I stopped for my appointment Isaac said "I only have Goodyears" WTF! You could have taken my info when I called and had the tires delivered for my appointment. After I complained, Isaac was able to source my tired but that took five hours! Yup waiting five hours! But it gets even better! As I was leaving their parking lot I kept hearing a clunk so I had to return! Lug nut wasn't tightened correctly! Umm how do you miss this? Safety issue? Isaac is great! But I was so fortunate to have the same mechanic for both visits. Not only do I not trust their work but their quality of work is so piss poor! When I told Isaac about the missing hub cap all I got was "I remember you"! I believe the appropriate response is "sorry it fell off! I'll order you a new one" I just spent nearly $1K, missing a wheel cap, tire still loses pressure and had to visit the location three extra times! I have no idea how this location retains or has any customers. NEVER EVER will I return to this location and highly do NOT recommend. Why would I ever return? Also I did not receive a Mavis survey for all my visits. I wonder why? read more

I want to preface this review with the fact that I initially gave this store a 5-star review on Google. I did so because I thought the service was good, and the manager asked me to do so. Also, I had gotten tires for 2 SUVs to "winterize" them. When I dropped my last SUV off, I did so with it filled with a full tank of gas. When I picked it up, it was down o a half tank. Now I could run my car still for 4-5 hours, and it won't burn a half tank of gas. So, either someone took it for a "joy ride," or the gas was siphoned. Neither case is okay with me. Who does that?!!! I have begun filing formal complaints, and I hope the regional manager will reach out to me, but I'm not going to hold my breath. If you take your car to this store, record its mileage and be cognizant of how much gas is in the tank! read more

On 11/29/22 I arrived and purchased two new tires. I was told that i would need an alignment from the the front desk receptionist after swapping out the new tires for the old and rotating them. 4 hours go by and I finally receive a call that my finished is ready for pick up. Upon arriving back to mavis Ossining, i immediately noticed my tires weren't rotated. The front desk receptionist goes to the back and asks was the job complete. The repair man responded no he didn't rotate or balance the tires. So having to wait an additional 60 minutes while they rotated the tires and balanced I thought everything was ok after. The next day I returned b/c two of the new tires were over pressurized so I took it in to be looked at. they gave me a run around why my tires were over pressurized and one losing air. fast forward to 12/9. Tire pressure keeps changing on all 4 tires and car doesn't seem to drive straight. I made an appointment for Nissan and brung it in to get checked. i was immediately told that alignment needed to be done as it shown on the computer. Two Nissan reps explained that it doesn't look like it was ever done. I should mention that the manager that was on shift the day of my tire swap at mavis joked that I should take my car else where due to beginner mechanics. He said himself that he wouldn't have hired them and that I should have taken my car elsewhere but unfortunately my was already being worked on. It's 12/9/22 and here I am having to pay for a service that I thought was paid for after spending 650 dollars at mavis on two tires and an alignment. I FEEL BAMBOOZLED, b/c not only did I waste my time and missed work to complete that task I feel like I wasted money. I contacted customer service today and hopefully this problem is rectified. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO OSSINING MAVIS AND DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TOO. read more

On May 28, 2024, I went to Mavis Discount Tire around 10am at 170 N Highland Ave, Ossining, NY 10562, to get a new tire. I arrived at Mavis Discount Tire around 10am and waited for about an hour to be seen. I sat in the lobby and noticed that my car was not being serviced and I asked what the delay was. I was informed that a tire had to be ordered and once it arrived, my tire will be changed. This process took over 7.5 hours. I was not seen or assisted till close to closing time. My new tire was put on and I paid the gentleman the amount of $275.00. The following day, May 29, 2024, I noticed while driving to work that the tire was flat, I called Mavis Discount Tire in Ossining and was told to put air in it and come back before 6 pm. Due to my travel time and traffic, I was unable to reach Ossining by 6pm. The following day, May 30, 2024, I arrived at Mavis Discount Tire at 8:30 am. Once arriving I spoke to a gentleman, who informed me he was the New Store Manager and today was his first day. When I told him about my tire, I was informed that he did not have enough staff at the moment to assist me swiftly. Because I had to be at work, he offered to put air in the tire so I could go to work and come back later that evening to fix the tire. Once he tried to put air in the tire, he noticed that the Wheel Tire Valve Stem was loose, and air was coming out from it. The gentleman stated that he couldn't put air in the tire or allow me to drive with the tire like this. The gentleman took my car in and worked on my tire. As he worked on my car, he informed me that it seemed as if my tire sensor was broken off and a lug nut was missing. I expressed my dissatisfaction, and the gentleman changed the sensor, fixed the wheel Tire Valve Stem and ordered me a lug nut. Due to the fact that they had to order the lug nut, now i have to return again for them to install it. At this time, I decided to call the corporate office to file a complaint because this $275.00 tire has now cost me loss of wages and time from my job. I spoke to a representative and I explained my situation. She gave me the Complaint Number as well as informed me that Regional Manager will be calling me. At 6:00 PM I returned to Mavis to have the technician put the lug nut on and had then informed me that whoever changed my tire on Tuesday stripped the tire bolt and now it needs to be ordered and replaced. Once again, I have to come back to Mavis to have this issue resolved. I came to change one tire and due to lack of knowledge and inexperience of the worker many issues arise, which is now an inconvenience. My safety was compromised due to the technician leaving the Tire Valve Stem loose on my tire. I could've gotten into an accident while driving. Now I have to go back a fourth time to have my tire bolt replaced. Regional Manager contacted me on 6/3/24 and was very dismissive to my situation. He overall stated there's not much he can do but for to bring the car into assess the situation and see if they can fix the problem. I got really upset and express that at this time I don't feel comfortable with any technicians from Mavis to touch my car. Regional manager stated he will contact the store and have the manager contact me to process a refund on 6/4/24. At this time, I still did not receive a call At this point I am disappointed. I will never return or suggest this location because of this situation. My tire is still not fixed up until yesterday. I went to my dealership and spent $160 to change the tire bolt that was stripped. I had to pay for the fuck up work that a technician did. My safety was compromised due to the negligence of staff. This has truly put a strain on my mental and would like to be fully compensated for my inconvenience. read more

This is the worst place ever DO NOT GET ANY WORK DONE here. I went In here looking to replace a tire just 1. Make my order Christian says it will be here the next day we will call you when to come in. The next day comes I never get a call so I call myself. I was told "we got your tire just never called you sorry, we do have a slot open tomorrow at 8am" okay no problem me having patience & compassion maybe they were busy, maybe someone forgot. The next day I show up at 8am on the dot. I was told I have a hour wait to get my tire done. I wait for 10 mins just to be told "hey we don't have your tire" -_- so you wasted 2 days of my time just to tell me your tire is not here yet? It was so unprofessional & I will never in my life give this place service and I hope no one else will. You don't play with people time. read more

After a few less than stellar experiences getting my car fixed my brother-in-law recommended Mavis in Ossining. I can't speak highly enough about my experience. Rich, the manager, was so forthcoming in what my car needed. He helped me pick out tires that fit my budget. He never once tried to sell me something I didn't need (which is what usually happens to me.) It was a 30 minute drive to get to this location and I would've driven hours for the same transparent and friendly service, worth every minute! They also had my car ready in less time than they had quoted. The whole experience was top notch, highly recommend! read more

So I hate to say it but I think I was definitely ripped off here. I had a slow leak in the tire, which was 6 months old, brought it in to this mavis branch, after 3 hours I got a call back saying there was a slow leak, but it just happened to be in the sidewall where they couldn't fix it, (which is normal) so I sprung $350 for a new tire. I was pretty suspicious when I picked up the vehicle as the tire looked scuffed up, and still identical to the tires already on my vehicle. The next morning it's flat again, but unfortunately in the meantime I'm stuck upstate. So i go to another mavis branch and they suggest a generic tire that's the same size for half the money. And that they didn't stock this model of tire. I must admit I was curious why the original shop suddenly stocked this type and didn't give me the cheaper option. But I figured they would stand by their work and fix it so it didn't matter. I take it back to this original branch and they call me the next day and explain the rim is cracked now and must have happened in the brief time that I brought it upstate. I'm sorry but this is Absolute nonsense. Either they missed the cracked rim on the first pass, and they swapped it out a perfectly good tire, or they did what I suspected and patched the hole that wasn't in the sidewall at all and charged me full price for a new tire. This shop honestly doesnt deserve to be in business, and thats coming from a now former repeat customer. I've given this place more than a couple of tries because of how conveniently located they are to my house. It's just not worth it. Dont be fooled. They'll screw up your appointment times. Tell you your car needs one thing then it needs countless other things. You take off of work for an appointment then go there and they dont have space for you on the lifts. Or they dont have the part they need to do the work. Then why was the appointment made in the first place? Now you're off work for nothing. Mavis made the issue that I had with being overcharged right. They refunded me the money for the labor charge on the oil change, and the difference between what I should have paid for the oil change, and what I was charged. I never got a straight answer from them regarding whether or not the right/factory spec oil has been put into our Toyota for the past 4-5 years, but nonetheless they did put the effort in to get this resolved. Just keep track of what they charge you for past comparable things, and then always ask what they are GOING to charge you for future work. read more

I'm new in town and was trying a new place because I didn't want to go to Queens to see my regular guy. Horrible service. Made an APPOINTMENT that they had confirmed for 2pm for a oil change and inspection. Arrived 5-10 min before appointment time and was asked if I was going to wait, I said yes. A full hour went by and my car didn't move at all. When I asked how much longer, I was told that they were finishing someone before me, then they would get to my car. What is an appointment worth when they can't even get to work anywhere near the appointment time. Not even a courtesy call to notify me that they may be running behind. Very very very poor time management and customer service. Not satisfied at all with the whole experience. I ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Usually very happy with there service. Today not so much. Called them early in the day to see about getting my car inspected they said to bring it in. When I brought it in at the time I was told they couldn't fit me in. Wish they just told me that before. I could have taken it elsewhere since it expired a few days ago. They said bring it in tomorrow but I have to work late. So now I have to wait a few days. Not a happy camper! I've been using this location for tires and some brake work for over a decade. No longer. I also feel like I've been ripped off and taken. One time they actually didn't perform work they said they did. This past week I went back to make a claim on tire that went flat and had a warranty. I accept that replacements should by prorated but they also charged for balancing and mounting. If the tire is covered the labor should be too. So the "warrantied" $220 tire still cost $105. Not right. There is always an angle these guys are playing. Go elsewhere for your work. read more

I asked them to do an inspection, and if it passed, an oil change. I came back and the oil was changed but they told me it was going to fail inspection because it had a "broken sway bar" that needed to be replaced. I was a little annoyed because I specifically said not to do the oil change unless the car passed. Lucky for me I knew what I was looking at when they showed me the "broken sway bar." The sway bar was not broken, but a retaining bolt had fallen out. The whole sway bar didn't need to be replaced at all. After it became clear to the tech that I knew what I was talking about, they just replaced the bolt, for free. Based on the way that it appeared to me that they tried to take advantage of me when they thought I wasn't car-savvy, I won't be going back. read more

I had an emergency situation where I was helping a lady stuck on the highway in Ossining . I went there and the guy at the counter acted like he couldn't care less. I had the tire off of the car, and rolled it in. There was NOBODY waiting. He told me I had to wait for 4 other cars that were in his shop before he could put a tire on a rim for me. (All of 5 minutes work) While this poor lady was stuck on the highway with nobody to help her. I hope this never happens to you Mavis guy read more

They are the worst, disorganized, rude just terrible all the way around. Dropped my car off at 8:23 for an inspection was told it would take an hour and a half when I came back at 12:30pm car was in the same spot. The manager was rude when I asked about the length of time my car was there without the work getting done. The workers in the garage laughing and joking around if you don't know someone who works there they will keep putting other card ahead of yours. This was the last straw I have 3 vehicles that I will never take there. That place needs new management and they need to train their staff in time management and communication skills. Just drove uo from Florida noticed a slight vibration while breaking just had new pads put in before leaving . Made an appointment for 10am with Jarvis. Had plan to get 4 New Torres and also wanted the following checked Brakes, exhaust for any leaks, shocks BY 3PM still had not heard from them, went back to retrieve my car. They tell me we just checked the brakes and you need wheel bearings, found that hard to believe since the dealer replace them last week. I JUST DROVE 1290 miles no noise no vibration. I asked why I had to make an appointment and it took 4 hours to get to my car. In any case I don't need bearing and you don't need an auto repair place that doesn't have a clue. The next morning I noticed they never replaced my inspection sticker called immediately. I was then told that they never performed the inspection & that I needed to return!
