Made an appointment on line, when I got to store they did they had no record of it. That I must not have acknowledged the email. I had the full reservation on my phone. with res number. Gent said well your here now. Punched into his computer my needs and came up with a price more that the online quote.Claimed my car needed an alignment to guarantee the tires. I said the car didn't need it, he said if we dont adjust anything then you dont pay for it. Said I was just interested in tire. After the bait and switch, I said for get it and walked out. He followed me out to my car and came up with a an offer to buy 3 and get one free. Seemed his way to sell 3 tires and include the alignment and associated fees, the fees that are not explained on the web site. So I agreed as I needed the tires, then it was well you need to leave the car. Why did I make an appointment?? Came back after several hours to pick up car and asked him for the data sheet on the alignment and he said we dont do data sheets. So I asked how do I know you even did an alignment, he said they did it. I asked what did they adjust? he said they made adjustments, I questioned that that work was ever done and with no data sheet to show what was out of alignment Im pretty sure it was all just talk. He offered to have it put back up on the rack, I chose not to spend another minute there so wound up paying for what about 4 tires would cost, plus a bunch of goofy fees and left. Why cant they be fair and transparent, a useless experience and all I wanted was to get 4 tires at a place that advertises tire. My advise , go to a local family owed tire shop and pay the same for tire with out all the hassle and up-charge. read more

TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT APPOINTMENTS: These guys are thorough. They give each customer the attention their car and them need. Please understand they work their tails off, it is a small shop, and they are very well liked in the area so they have a lot of people to get to. So please be patient, having an open ticket if you can take a lyft to the shoppes in Riverhead is your best bet. Otherwise bring a book. Thank you guys so much! I really appreciate the timeliness on a balls hot 100+ degree day. You guys busted your butts and went above and beyond my inspection[checking my oil & helping me with my bottom plastic guard on the car- noticing it as i drove up and actually asking me about the work i was getting done.] I feel horrible I cant remember the mechanic and front desk guy's name but they were respectful, courteous, and were able to take me on a few hours before call and got me done 2 hours before expected time. Every time there's an issue with mavis. Some locations say sure come on down with your sprinter van we work on them. Then when you get there they say we don't work on them. Secondly, I just called what I thought was the store turns out it's a call center. Asked how long is the wait? 30 minutes they said. I drove 10 miles to get there and was told 2 plus hours or you can drop it off. Like WTF I just called! He said you spoke to the call center. Where's the disconnect? Mavis of Shirley NY.. My wife had her truck in for oil change and inspection. They called to let us know that her truck was ready. 5 minutes later they callex to tell us that one of the mechanics that had been working on someone's brakes had backed out of the bay and he had no brakes because he did not reset the calipers. He crashed into my wife's truck and another vehicle. We were told Mavis would take care of everything. Her car went to a shop and Mavis insurance adjuster went to look at it. The collision shop has been trying to get a hold of them to get the permission to repair the truck and they have not responded. This is crazy because it was complete negligence on the mechanics part and this guy could have killed someone walking through the parking lot. read more

I called Saturday to make a 9 am appointment for Monday. Called on Sunday and asked if I could come in at 10 am instead and they said no problem. Well 3 hrs later (it's now 1pm) and they still hadn't taken it in! So I left. Was Also told on Saturday that the alignment was part of the quote.. well it wasn't come Monday. Stay away from here. I would give a negative amount of stars if I could. I went there a year ago because I had a flat tire at work. I put my spare one on and drove my car to Mavis I left it in there care asked them to put a new matching tire on. When I picked up my car they assured me that they put my spare back and everything was good. Six months later in my car started to shake and my tires were making a whomping noise when I crawled or went to drove after stopping. I took my car to 2 to 3 different mechanics over another 5 months, plus a transmission guy, ultimately it took the transmission guy to notice that the front tire that Mavis discount put on for me was a completely different size and brand causing performance issues to my vehicle. I complained to Mavis as soon as I realized that they had made such a huge mistake they reimbursed me my full amount for that tire after huge fight with the main guy Joe at the front desk and then a guy named Mike (who never once provided me his last name even when asked) from the 914 number provided here on Yelp that I reached out to you because of the disgusting treatment I received at the shop and my vehicle now being damaged as a result of it. Mike played games when he answered the phone he would have someone else answer the Amity # he called me off of & the. he would say hello five times before even answering me back saying hello knowing that I just spoke into the call center and they transferred me to him letting him know it was me because he didn't want to deal with me told me I was abusing him for following up on the email he told me to send Friday and didn't respond to my call Monday then by Wednesday he hung up on me for asking why he wasn't doing his job because I have a bad transfer case endangering myself and my kid now as a result of their unprofessionalism and lack of knowledge about tires they told me putting a different tire on a jeep is totally OK; when my mechanic said it's an all wheel drive vehicle and you should never ever do that. They also then wanted me to go to some shady shop here in Riverhead as opposed to my certified mechanic so that their mechanic can tell me there's nothing wrong with my vehicle when there is in fact a Bad transfer case now it's going to cost me over $5000. I submitted my invoice from my mechanic to headquarters and headquarters told me that Mike is the highest up person I can deal with and that they could no longer help me and I needed to go to court for this. Needless to say I will be doing so as far as Mike goes I hope you get the worst karma that there is for putting my 2 1/2 year old son and myself in jeopardy you guys are disgusting shop and you deserve to be shut down I pray nobody locally ever ends up going to them and I will do my very best in anyway I can to make sure that anybody I know NEVER gives these horrid people their hard earned $ or trust. Other than that can't wait to go to court! Also if you look them up they have an EEOE lawsuit as to how these men are sexist and they also have another lawsuit where mavis has caused damage to a vehicle that caused an accident with the limo so again I am posting this in hopes that it will ensure somebody safety by not ever using them for anything!!! -to your response what a joke and what a way to make yourself a look good, I'll believe it when I see it. We needed four new tires after one of the tires went flat yesterday. We made an appointment with another tire center for the next day and when we got there, they did not have the tires in stock. So we went to Mavis without an appointment and Ross and his team had us rolling out with a new set of tires within two hours. Courteous service and quality work equals a satisfied customer. My comments are not a reflection on the staff , they were professional and hard workers but the corporate policy's that are used by the stores for appointments I made a 930 appointment, and my car was not looked at until around 1230 after I complained and finished after 2 pm for just front brakes What's the sense of having appointments when they are meaningless? I have been to the Shirley location and they always took care of me whenever I went there. Everybody was so friendly. However, my experience with the riverhead location was not quite as phenomenal. From the time I entered, with an appointment, the man at the desk was cursing with frustration at his computer. I, too, become frustrated with technology so it was fairly easy to forgive until I mentioned my check engine light pops on and off occasionally. But I definitely needed an oil change so I told him to go ahead and do that. Even though the lot was fairly empty, he treated me like even my oil change was an inconvenience and the fact that it was a Saturday meant I could not even get my car diagnosed. I had an appointment. There was no way my oil change should have been an inconvenience. Even though I saw at least five workers besides him on, it took an hour for them to finish my car and a half an hour after my appointment time to address my car. Don't offer appointments if you can't honor them or they're an inconvenience. Never again at this location. I'm bringing my car to Shirley for a check engine diagnosis to hopefully restore my faith in this company. Update; the Shirley location opened my hood and showed me LOOSE SCREWS just laying on my engine cover instead of being secured into place. These guys were awesome! I had just came from another shop that quoted me 984.00 for brake pads, rotors and brake flush. I was quoted 564.00 by Mavis, but during their check they advised me I didn't need pads or rotors, just a brake flush. These guys are super honest and do a great job!! This place is HORRIBLE! Was good when it was STS and even for a while after when one of the managers stayed on. Now it is awful. Dropped one car off with a coupon for a free oil change and the mechanics refused to do it for free so they never took the car in. Tried today with a different car and no coupon. I can't speak for the quality of the work because I left before I the job was started. I called earlier today to see if they had any openings for an oil change if I came now. I was told yes sure no problem. So I go and I wait patiently, 15 mins, 20 mins, and hour, and hour and a half. So i asked when my car would be serviced and I was told not for another half an hour. The whole reason I called ahead was so that I could plan my only day off this week. Had I known it would be such a production I would have went elsewhere. I have now wasted a good part of my afternoon and still do not have an oil change. I get being short staffed, but please work it out because I am not the only customer to complain today. The young man in the waiting room sitting next to me was also stuck for an hour and a half waiting with no word. This is not okay. They completely forgot my appt. "nobody checked the key drop" was the answer I received. The first person I spoke with couldnt have cared less. After spending the afternoon trying to find a different retailer with tires in stock within a 50 miles radius, I relented and I brought the car in the next day. I called to ensure it would be completed upon the business opening and I was assured it would be. And it was, the only thing they got right. When I picked up the vehicle, the price was $100 more than anticipated. When I questioned it, the "manager" said you ordered an alignment, I stated when I called the day I made the appt, I had the alignment removed from the work order. They promptly removed the charge for that. I came right from work and was in my uniform. Both days. And I was still given an attitude. Had I not been in uniform, what sort of response would I have been given? Poor customer service. Filthy building. Someone hit my car and I was stuck with a rental. After having the rental for a couple of days, it had a flat tire and I was beyond stressed since the tire needed to be replaced. I brought it to Mavis today and they gave me honest tips on ways to avoid paying for a new tire since the rental place and insurance wouldn't cover it. Since all Hertz locations were closed today and tomorrow, Mavis put the spare tire on for me free of charge. I am beyond grateful- my week has been really awful but their kindness made me feel a lot better. Really wish I had the names of the 3 men that helped me today since they were all so wonderful! read more

I stoped in yesterday and told Adam my problem . I had A new used truck that had 33-12.5-20 custom tires & wheels . The stock spare tire was A 17" tire & rim I was going on A road trip to Hilton Head SC.To snow bird for 3 months . Adam was able to get me the proper size 17" tire overnight A 33-12.5-17 I had the tire mounted & balanced the next day the price was $213.00 . So now I have the proper size spare to take me down to Hilton Head . Now I feel very secure knowing I can take my road trip with A proper size spare THANK YOU MAVIS OF RIVERHEAD!! read more

First let me start by saying never never never get tires at this store!!! Ordered tires on a monday, got a confirmation on tuesday for a sunday 9:00 am install . When my wife got there she was the 3rd person in line and as told she'd have to wait 1 and a 1/2 hours till they took here even though she had a 9:00am appt.I guess they know how to make an appt. but they don't know how to act on that appt. The person at the counter then said they didn't have the tires that I ordered and would be in the next couple of days.If for some mysterious reason the tires were not delivered why wasn't I called so I wouldn't waste my time driving to Riverhead!! We had a very good experience dealing with the people at Mavis. We have an older model Nissan, that requires a size of tire that doesn't seem to be Common anymore. They had to search for the size and brand of tire we needed. When they came in, they installed them very quickly. We were very happy with the service they provided. On the way back to Mavis , to have the lug nuts retightened after 25 miles, our brake light came on, they added a can of brake fluid at no charge. All in all a good experience. read more

Bought four brand new perelli ties and within 100 miles two of the tire stems failed resulting in one of the tires needing total replacement. Asked the manager for a partial rebate on the original tires and he said he didn't have money to throw around.
