Had the best experience in a very bad situation. I was in the area and ran over metal with my bronco . the tire was not salvageable. The lovely man and the mechanic were able to put my spare on and even helped me to find a location to get a new tire. They went far and above when other places in the area wouldn't even attempt to offer any help. GREAT people who I would trust and go back to. So nice to have good people around us read more

I put off my most recent oil change until the last possible minute, and was able to get a same-day appointment here at Midas. I was a little desperate, and this was my first visit, so I had pretty low expectations. Happily, they were ready to take my car in right on schedule when I arrived, finished promptly, and the charge was reasonable- in line with what I have paid for oil changes elsewhere. I had a 1:00pm oil change scheduled. They did not take my car in until 1:25pm (I am on my hour lunch). I had a coupon for $34.99 which it clearly states oil change and tire rotation. (all the other places have the same thing). When it was finally done, my bill came out to be $85.00. The front office guy is telling me its not a package deal when it clearly states on the coupon that it is. I hate being swindled and will never use this place again. Very unhappy customer. I brought my car in for an oil change and a New York State Inspection. $88, $36 of which was for the Inspection. So not great value there. The guy at the front desk (he was at the Assistant Manager computer, so I assume that's who he is?) was not a nice guy. Cars aren't easy to understand for the bulk of the population. My wife went to check what's wrong with her car for a knocking and ticking in the engine with check engine light on. They charged her for a tire rotation, brake check, and tire rotation and another service which wasn't done because if they did they would have told her she needed calipers and brakes in the rear. Never checked engine light on reason nor did they tell her what wrong with the knocking. Came back hour later to tell her she needed coolant tank which was already known was leaking, and said need an oil change but may or may not stop the knocking of the engine. Said oil change alone was going to cost over $200. Completely took advantage of her because she didn't know anything about a car and went there alone. And they said to check the check engine light it would cost another $140 on top of the $120 they charged her today!! read more

I had the good pleasure of dealing with Charlie, Mac and Jimmy on my 2008. Subaru Outback with 69,000 miles with a squeal in the right front area. I was told by the dealer I had 50% left on my brakes and when Jimmy checked the front end found the rotors had disintegrated beyond comprehension . Thievery. Went there not too long ago to get my car fixed after getting a diagnostic at another place. They ran their own diagnostic and said couldn't fix the car. They made me pay $100 for the second diagnostic even though I had already known what was wrong with the car and was referred to them to fix it. They didn't even consider the nuances of my situation and didn't inform me that if they couldn't fix the car, I'd still have to pay for the second diagnostic which I did NOT need. BEWARE!! Do not go there! We went there for a state inspection. Nothing was wrong with my car before going but I was told that the light bulbs and caliper guide pin weren't working and that it would cost me over $200 to fix. When I went to inspect it myself, I noticed these had been removed all together!!! I can not believe they would be willing to put peoples lives at risk just to make money. If I could leave zero starts, I would! Brought my Jeep in for a "Death Wobble" and both Charlie and Mac swore up and down they knew exactly how to fix it. $700 later they replaced 2 parts and said it was fixed. They lied! My Jeep STILL has the death wobble, which is EXTREMELY dangerous! I took it back and they claim it doesn't wobble so they "can't fix what they don't know." Now my wife drove the Jeep to the city for business and got a full blown death wobble SEVERAL TIMES!! Almost crashed on the highway!! Now she's at a friend's shop that's actually reputable and as soon as they got it up on the lift they started painting out everything Midas did wrong! They put a cheap steering dampener on that's not rated for my Jeep or my tire size. Both my control arms are now bent, AND my radiator is leaking mysteriously! it's costing me over $2000 now to fix my jeep and get it back on the road!!! Mac and Charlie are liars and scammers! I've requested a full refund from corporate and have contacted my attorney. Mac and Charlie put mine and my families lives in extreme danger and never batted an eye. Complete CROOKS!!!! They will NEVER touch my Jeep again and they are DEFINITELY getting stuck with the $1700 set of 5 tires I just ordered from them. Absolutely not paying them for those!! They can keep em!! read more

It is not easy to find a mechanic who actually has your best interest in mind. Riverhead Midas is the place to go. Kyle (who has been at the front desk every time I have been there) is great. He doesn't try to sell you crap you don't need. He is genuine and will tell you what you need, what he recommends and what you should watch out for in the future. Granted I have never gone there for major repairs, just typical maintenance items but I trust him because of how he's handled those items. I recommend making an appointment - especially on weekends because they can get very busy very fast. read more

sorry - but i have to warm folks away from this place. i went there less than two years ago and they charged me $1350 for a muffler, pipes and catalytic converter replacement. im pretty sure i got ripped off, but i went back after the muffler they put on that was "gaurantted" corroced out ( less than 3 years later). less than two years after, i had to go back becuase the "new" "gold" muffler and pipes have corroded out. it was under "warranty" , but it ended up costing me another $200. folks - avoid this place. read more
