Got new tires installed in 2024 and this year. Overall I had good experiences both times.

Buyer Beware!!! I paid for a new battery, $295, and after a few weeks my car had trouble starting. On my dashboard it said "depress the brake." My car wouldn't start a first, but after a few pumps it started. I took my car to Mavis for them to check it out, and without checking the battery, they told me to go to the dealership for more advance service. After some research online, I went to Auto Zone for them to check my battery, and they said it was bad, and needed to get replace. My car works perfectly now. I paid Auto Zone for a new battery which cost me about$120. I went back to Mavis for a refund for their tire, and they only refunded me for the battery I purchased in AutoZone. I believe I should of been refunded the $295 for the bad battery they gave me. I think they took advantage of me because I'm a female. read more

went to change my oil and requested a... I went to change my oil and requested a synthetic oils change for my Acura tl 2007 ...a 6 cylinder vechile. At first I was told they were going to have it sent over from the auto part store and then they said it was ready. When I mention I didnt see the auto store drop anything off they said oh they found one that fit. I didn't think much of it.. I paid over $100 and went on my way. after awhile notice problems and oil light come on. I filled it and again. Then I had some one check it and they showed my it was leaking and the black stuff on the sid of my car wasn't snow residue but oil. It was leaking because they knowingly used the wrong filter. A 4 cylinder filter ecoguard x4615 to be exact on my vehicle. I called to request a refund to the manager Anothy whom at first ask what i wanted hume to do and try to deny it then said ok and once he got a ok to refund me would call back no later then 2 days. he then avoid my calls for weeks with no call back ...Trashy service all the way around and who knows what other damage they did. The regional manager, as well as the store manager did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue other then offer me a coupon. I'm writing to file a complaint regarding my recent experience at your Roselle, NJ location. I booked a tire replacement service online based on a specific promotional price. However, when I arrived for the appointment, I was quoted a different price. The employee who attended me was rude and did not provide any clear explanation, even after I showed proof of the original quote. UPDATE on this; basically only AFTER filing a complaint with the BBB I received a call from Mavis asking to me to take my vehicle to another location. They looked at it and FINALLY an honest mechanic told me they NEVER fixed the issue and I should take it to a Toyota dealership, even though the original location assured me they fixed it, why would I keep wasting my time going back if I knew they couldn't fix it??? I am now told that they did OTHER repairs that had NOTHNG to with the original issue... WHAT?? How is this OK? This isn't my first vehicle, usually if you take your vehicle to a shop for something they fix it and will RECOMMEND or ADVISE if something else needs to be done but I guess that's not how Mavis operates, they just ahead and to it!! 1st off this is my last time going to Mavis!!! I have gone to mavis since 2019! From NYC to NJ. The only reason I went is because I brought brake pads from them years ago and I have a lifetime warranty on them. Their labor price has gotten ridiculous but besides that, when I got the car back with new brake pads and wheel alignment and tire rotation, my car was shake nonstop. The gear was move every time I drove. I took it back to them the following weekend and they checked it out. Now prior to getting my car back I got 3 calls from them telling me I need new rotors. I told no and the price they were quoting me was 1400. I still told them no cause that is the new scam these places are using now. Anyways when they look at my car again they told me that the reason my car is shaking is because I didn't get new rotors and my transmission is about to go. I took my car back and went to my regular mechanic which I trust. He looked at my car and said no your transmission is fine and that the reason my car is shaking is because the pads are not installed properly. I'm tired of this place and I will not recommend this place for anybody to go to. Price are ridiculous and the service sucks. read more

Purchased a battery from them. Within 16-months, the battery died (no fault of mine) and, would not hold a charge. Took it back for assessment. They reported that the battery is fine, the alternator is fine and the charging system is good. They gave the battery a full charge. Guess what?????????.......... The battery still died and obviously did not hold a charge. This place is very close to where I live and I really wanted to use them for both my cars. I am extremely disappointed in their competence. They are just not that good. I will not be returning and will give them a middle finger whenever I pass by their business. I suggest you do the same! read more

I proceeded to call back and stated I was the women she just hung up and and her response was "yeah go". I just had a service done to my car in the mavis discount tire store. I have been told that I needed a part which is no more than 200$ in any part store and online. I have been charged 300$ and 2 hours labor which I am not sure of it as well. They have told my wife a different price that I have been charged When I went there. The car was not fixed or anything done to it, Yet I have paid over 500$.. We were miss treated and did not feel safe as well. They were rude and not customer friendly. That wouldn't be so bad for someone like me who was, literally, the first person on the door-- unfortunately, despite saying it was first come, first served, here I sit for hours and my car hasn't been touched for a simple oil change. Stay very far away. Update: after an interminable wait. These imbeciles claimed you "had to disassemble" a portion of the car to access the oil filter on my fiat 500. I had a tire sensor light that kept going on even after I filled the tire with air. So at 4:30 pm today I called Mavis Tires on Morris Ave in Short Hills NJ to see if anyone could check the tire that late in the day. I babysit a child every day and drive him to and from school. I can't afford to have a tire blow out. I had just had the tires checked when I had the oil changed at another National brand (I won't name) who told me the tires were fine. Not only did Mavis answer the phone right away (two other places I tried didn't) but they told me to come right over. I did and they found a puncture in one tire and repaired the tire while I waited. I thought I would have to at least buy a new tire but when I got the bill they didn't charge me for anything, not even for labor! My bill was ZERO! Now THAT was a kindness I will never forget. I didn't expect this and really still can't believe it now. I know this wasn't usual business practice but you can be sure I will be returning for tires and repairs when I need them. They have a loyal and grateful customer for the life of this car and every car I own after that. I wanted to post this somewhere so everyone knows that at this Mavis at least, it's not just "business as usual". It's real people listening, caring and helping. It's like having your good neighbor help you out when you really need it and not expecting anything in return. This just does not happen anymore. I am telling everyone I know about this. Went there to change a flat tire. And ended up in a bigger mess. They did not contact me all day the day I dropped off my car. I had to contact them. And when I finally contacted them they told me they lost my car key. How do you loose a customers car key is beyond me. It took three days for them to replace my tire and car key. And each time I was the one contacting them for updates on my car. Customers service is poor and sad. read more

So I brought my truck there to get 4 brand new tires. I paid almost $1,000.00 and was told I was getting 4 new air valves as well. Picked up my car and the very next day 2 of my tires were almost flat. I put air in my tires and realized they never put new air valves on my tires. Just left the old ones on there. I brought it back and explained the situation and told them I had to keep filling up my tire with air because they were going flat. They told me not to worry they would fix it. Picked it up again and they told me they put new valves on my tires and also told me they had to put a new tire sensor on bc my old one was bad (I never had a problem with my old one). I left once again and by the next morning, my tire was flat. Once again, they never changed my valves (which they said they did) and still 2 of my tires were flat. The so called "new" sensor they put on my one tire didn't work and now I was getting lights on and messages on my car saying that I needed to check my tire monitor system. I brought my car back for the 3rd time and explained that the sensor was bad, there is still the old valves on the tire l, and two of my tires were still flat and I had to keep filling them up with air twice a day. They took the car in and a couple hours later they called and said it was ready. When I went to pick it up, they said they sealed the tires so they wouldn't leak air, and said that the sensor they put on was bad and if I wanted them to put on another sensor, it was going to be $150.00!!! I took the car and left. I didn't even want to talk to them anymore. When I got home, I still had the old valves on my tires, and I saw that my center rim cap was now missing. They put my center cap on the wrong way and I lost it on the drive home. So now I'm missing my center cap, I still have the old valves, my tires are still leaking air and I'm filling them up daily, and now I have a bad sensor in my one tire that they said they replaced for free because they probably messed up my old one when switching the tires, and they want to charge me $150 for a new one now. So I am back to square one!!! I basically gave them $1,000.00 for absolutely NOTHING!! I will NEVER NEVER EVER go back and do business with them again!!! I don't even want to go back for the 4th time to complain bc they obviously can't do their job right. Now I have to go to a REAL tire place and probably spend another $1,000.00 plus get a new center cap for my rim, and now a new sensor. Absolutely Ridiculous!!! They get ZERO stars from me and I do NOT recommend anyone wasting their time going there. Bad bad bad bad business!!!! HORRIBLE!! read more

Poor service, I made an appointment online on 07/24 to change some tires on Sunday 09/27, 9am at their Roselle Park 07204 shop. Got the confirmation online, so I was good to go, at least I thought. I went to the shop this morning to find out that my tires were not here because the truck does not deliver on Sunday....... I made the appointment online 3 days ago....At least a courtesy call would have been appreciated. One other guy jumps in and said I'm blocking his Bay and need to move it. There were no customers, I took a picture and left. If I could give this facility zero stars, I would. I dropped off my vehicle at 9:30am after making a 10am appointment and needed an oil change and tire rotation. I asked them to fill my brake fluid because i got a dashboard warning for low brake fluid. I ended up having to call them at 1pm to get an update on my car. When i called I was told that my brake lines were leaking and my car was unsafe to drive; however, prior to visiting this facility I had no leaks and no issues stopping my car. Once I picked up my car, i noticed extreme amounts of some type of liquid coming from underneath my car. I get into my car and cannot stop my car using my brakes. This was not happening prior to visiting this facility. They quoted me over $700. I went to a mechanic I know and got a second opinion and they were an extreme help. Mavis also allowed this car to be driven knowing the brake line was completely shot. Update: Mavis tried to have me pay $700 for a 6ft brake line leak for this visit. I went to an honest and trustworthy mechanic that replaced my brake line and filled my brake fluid for $190. read more

After arriving i was basically told that my appointment would not be honored because of the volume of cars waiting to be serviced. I have a problem with a business that does not honor its word. If that is the case I can no longer trust you to be honest. I am saddened since i am a long time customer and under other managers (Gordon) this would not have occurred. I've gone to either the Roselle or Union STS locations for tire repair and replacement for years. The work sometimes takes longer than promised, but you can generally tell that it will by the number of lifts in use. Hardly unique to STS, buying tires can be a bit tricky. Not all tire shops stock or favorably price a particular manufacturer, size and design equally. This sometimes calls for a bit of shopping around. More times than not, but particularly when the other option is Goodyear, the job is done by STS. read more

I will NEVER go to Mavis again!! I googled tire shops near me and Mavis was the only place that was open on Sunday. I called the Westfield store to get 4 new tires. The man told me he didn't have 4 in stock so he referred me to the Roselle Park location and offered me a discount code, something that was usually an additional charge would be free/included in the price of the tire. I didn't pay too much attention because he said he would enter it into their system under my husband's account and the people at the Roselle Park location would have it. So I take my car to Roselle Park and mention the discount code, he gives me the dirtiest look and basically says he doesn't know what I'm talking about. I leave and stop by the Westfield location to ask the man about the discount he had offered me. The man at the counter, without lifting his eyes a single time, tells me I didn't talk to him, I probably spoke to someone in their call center, and he doesn't know what I'm talking about. So I go home and call the number I had called before, it goes to the Westfield store, that guy also tells me he's not the one that spoke to me and he doesn't know what I'm talking about, but he tells me how to reach the call center. So I call the call center and nobody there remembers talking to me an hour before or knows anything about a discount that was offered to me. I'm not sure if it's illegal, but offering discounts to customers and then not honoring them is very unethical at least. Everyone I encountered, besides the initial person that "offered" me the discount (and it was 5 different Mavis employees), was rude and nasty and couldn't care less about me or my concern. I think it's hilarious that this is a "discount tire" place. It's not. I paid $135 for a tire including installation. In the hood, you can pay $70 for a used tire & installation. They honestly rip you off here. I just go here because my father told me so. Also. If you're a female, they'll tell you of course to buy this, that, & the sun. When the last time I checked, I asked you to fix my tire. Not for an analysis of my car. I also could've sworn I didn't have a stuttering problem because when I asked the employee to put my old tire in my hatchback, he repeated my question. Yes, I want my old tire in my hatchback because I know my father is not going to believe you guys when you say you couldn't patch it up. Lo & behold, get home to show my father the old tire & it of course, wasn't there thanks to the incompetent employee there. Also, as I was about to drive out from the parking lot, that really A++++ of an employee came out to give me back my tire lock. Cool. That would've been so nice if I drove away without it. So nice to know that things are put back where people find them. So nice to know that when I ask for a simple task, such as putting my old tire back in the hatchback it can be done. Just kidding. I had told a friend not to go to Mavis in Bayonne with a high end car since everyone I spoke to had mixed reviews of all the Mavis centers, but he made an appointment to go there anyway and spent all day there (10-4) since they had not even ordered the parts he told them he would be needing 2 days before he went there; they ordered them when they started the work. He said the job they did was not up to his expectations since his car ran the same way when it hit bumps, even slight ones, as it did when he brought the car in. He thinks that maybe he expected too much but decided not to complain too much since maybe they tried. He plans to let another expert check it out soon to see if they could have done a better job or if this was the best they could do with his car. He did say that the service personnel seemed ok, though, except the manager, Josie...he wasn't too sure about him. read more

I would have given this place 5 stars. However, when I drove my car away, I noticed that my hood open indicator was going off. This never happened in my many years of owning this car. when I called, I was given to the Assist Services Manager. This is when my 5-star experience went to below a 1. He was far more concerned that they did not break the latch vs helping me to get it fixed. I explained to him that due to the latch indicator going off- it was setting my car alarm off over and over. So, I could not lock my car. The best he was willing to do was see it a week from today. Even after telling him my car was unsecure and it happened after they worked on it. I even asked for a price of the fix - he would not provide that ether. I was so upset I called a second time and tied to explain again that I really do need to have this looked at asap. He continued to tell me that they didn't do it (Honestly not prompted) I was simply saying that it occurred there, so lest they could do was look at it sooner than a week from now. I will never take my car back here. Shame because everyone else I delt with seemed great. STS decided it would be a great idea to just close and not notify me. They had my number and knew where I worked so I wasn't hard to get ahold of me.
