Definitely this is my go-to place regardless the issue or maintenance I want to give to my car when it is related to tires. These guys are incredibly helpful, very honest (highly valued), their integrity is beyond any question (something not so common in this business), and they really try to help you and not to make you spend unnecessarily. I bought wheels and tires from another vendor and had them installed here. I didn't account for new sensors that I needed. It took a couple hours to be completed. They loaded my old wheel and tires into my car. After a day, the tire pressure light came on and I was able to drop it off another day. it took about 10 minutes for them to relearn the sensor and I was on my way. The waiting the area is not that great. I hanged out nearby at the bagel ship. There's a TV in the waiting area if you're a fan of daytime TV. I'd be back for other car related services when I don't want to overpay at a dealership. read more

Don't bother with this location. Employees misplace several sets of car keys. My appointment for a simple oil change and tire rotation took over 4 hours. I've had better service at the DMV. No idea how they manage to operate with such poor management. Manager's (Rashid) condescending attitude was unacceptable. I saw a low tire pressure warning at 3:00 in the afternoon. I filled it up and drove 45 minutes to the Westfield Mavis location. They had a lot of cars in the queue and asked me if I could leave it overnight, which was fine with me. By 9:30AM the next day they called telling me that they found a nail puncture and had plugged the leak. Great, friendly and fast service. read more

Let's talk about my experience at Mavis Discount Tire. Online, I scheduled a "Daytime Drop," which means drop your car off at any point in the day and give them 3 hours to complete. After a few hours, I received a call to confirm I was coming in, and they told me to bring it in at 2 pm. Later than what I was planning, but that's fine. At 1:45, I show up at the Westfield, NJ location. I drop off my car tell them I need oil change new brakes. She says they're going to install rotors, too. I didn't feel like I needed them, but I agreed. Whatever, probably a good thing to do after this long. Sells me on a few other things.. Sure. that's fine. I ask how long, she tells me, "We probably won't get to your car for an hour." What's the point in an appt if you're not going to get to my car for an hour. But again, I said fine. I knew Westfield was doing a festival, so off I went. She calls me again at 3:51 to tell me I did need new brakes (I'm guess they had just gotten to my car). We discussed the price, and she said that because I was getting brakes and rotors they would be throwing in the oil change for free. Okay, great. I ask how much longer, she said probably an hour or hour and a half. Little longer than I was hoping as I wanted to get some things done on my day off, but okay. Whatever. Most things would still be open by 5:30. I walk back and sit down to wait for my car. 5:30 comes and goes, 6pm comes and goes. At 6:30, I was told that they had to order a brake pad and the place brought them the wrong one, so that's why it was taking longer. Then, she tells me that because I've been so patient, she's going to give me a discount. Okay, great. I try to be nice because I know dealing with angry customers is hard, and her promise of a discount makes it better. Flash forward to 7pm, and I'm FINALLY checking out. Yes.. FIVE HOURS after I dropped my car off, I'm finally leaving. To do what? Probably nothing because my day has been squandered. She walks me through the charges and tells me she's giving me $5 off each of the rotors "because I was patient." Then tells me they're giving me the free oil change "because I was patient." Um.. no, you told me before this that you were giving me the oil change for getting brakes and rotors. But whatever. I waited for the moment where she told me about the discount... but that was it. $10 off after waiting five hours in the afternoon, when I would have dropped it off earlier. TEN DOLLARS. I was livid. Then, they bring my car around. I get inside, and as I'm driving away, the oil change sticker falls off. Why? Because it was covered in grease.. as was the corner of my windshield where they put it. AS WAS THE FABRIC ON MY CAR. So, after spending OVER $800 and my entire Saturday afternoon. I get an insulting "discount" AND grease on the light fabric in my car. Mavis has disappointed me beyond any measure, and I will not be going back. More than that, I will tell ALL of my friends not to go there. And I will make sure I post on each of my social media accounts and continue to shout that this is not the business to place your trust in... ever. read more

They didn't try to get me to spend extra money unnecessarily (as has been my experience at other shops), and had my car back to me within a reasonable amount of time. I brought my 2 cars on separate occasions for an oil change that didn't happen! Within a few weeks one car started to stall when I slowed down, I almost go stuck on the Pulaski Skyway! Wednesday - dropped my car off due to a slow tire leak. Was called 3 hours later to be told that I have a cracked rim, and that you cannot weld aluminum, and there was nothing they could do, and that I should pick up the car. I drive down to get it, and the associate says "Oh no, we have a shop that does this for us all the time, we are going to send out the tire to have it welded! it will be ready tomorrow afternoon. Thursday - I arrive at 7 to pick up my car, because I was assured it would be ready, and was told, "Your wheel had to be sent out to the welder, and they just picked it up about an hour ago, so it should be ready tomorrow afternoon. Friday - I call at noon to be told "your wheel is back from the welder, there are 3 cars infront of you, we will get to it definitely by 3 pm!", I go at 5:30, to be told that "The welder has not sent your wheel back yet, he is stuck on the parkway because their was a helicopter crash, (total fiction!!) tire should be here in 15 minutes." I explain that I was assured that the wheel arrived at noon. The employee manning the phones says "You spoke to me, and I never said that!" and begins to accuse me of lying to his boss. I ignore him and step to the waiting room. I wait 50 minutes, and am told. "your wheel is not arriving today, we can't get in touch with the welder, and they are closed for the night. Your tire will be delivered tomorrow AM, so you can pick it up Saturday at noon. Saturday - I call, and get "Your wheel has not been delivered yet, we will get to it when it does, it should be done by about 3". I had a commitment saturday, so I let the afternoon go. Sunday - I arrive when the shop opens at 9 am to pick up my car, nobody was there at 9:05 even though that is their advertised opening time. I see my car in the garage still sitting with the doughnut on it, no repaired tire in sight. In the afternoon I get there at 3 to pick up my car. I tell this whole story to the associate, only to be met with shrugged shoulders. They must have a class for the employees called "How to lie to a customer to delay them or get them off the phone", every employee there had BS responses that the next day were proven as lies. The price charged was $68 more than the price qouted on the phone 2 days earlier! Kinda wish this was Florida, so I could hope for a sink hole to swallow that place!! You have been warned!! I live in Garwood, NJ and less than a mile from my home there is an STS location in Westfield. I went to them last week because one of my tires had been slowing leaking air. When manager called me about an hour later, he said there was a nail in the sidewall so tire couldnt be patched. Also said it was company policy that they would not only sell me 1 new tire because my treads were uneven. So basically his offer was, buy 4 new tires or none. I said thanks but no thanks and brought my car today to the STS on Forest Ave near my office in Staten Island. I did not tell Justin, them about my experience in NJ. I only told him I thought there was a nail in the sidewall. When I spoke to them a few hours later, I was told the nail was nowhere near the sidewall so they patched it up and I was good to go, for just $25. Long story short - DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. They are clearly shysters looking to rip people off. Had I accepted his recommendation, I wouldve spent around $1000 on 4 new tires when in reality, my tire with the slow leak was able to be patched for just $25. Screw this place and their predatory business practices. read more

Been coming to this location for more than 20 years through many different franchises and this is, unfortunately, my last time. My wife went into the store with a blowout and less than 20K miles on her car. They told her they couldn't get a replacement tire and said she would have to buy 4 new tires. Their attitude and approach was condescending and arrogant. No way for a local business to operate. We went to the dealership, used our tire insurance and got a new tire. This used to be a great asset to our community - no longer. Too bad. read more

Lies. I wish I could give zero stars. I took my car in for one thing costing about $150 and then STS tried to get an extra $600 out of me for an alternator that they claimed needed to be replaced. Guess what? It's NOT broken. I took it elsewhere because STS couldn't get the alternator that day and another garage could... second place ran every test and there is nothing wrong with my alternator. STS even told me that they couldn't guarantee the battery because I was driving with a broken alternator. Makes me worry about my new battery. I called STS a few days later and explained to the manager (who was not there the day of the incident) and he was nice, apologetic and said he couldn't find my ticket for repair. Shady and I do not recommend STS in Westfield for any service. Good news from this? I found an honest local mechanic that I can use in the future. STS? Never again. read more

I have been here 3 times now - 2 times to patch flat tires, and 1 time I needed to get the tire replaced (between 2 different vehicles and 3 different tires). I've had a good experience each time although they did try to sell me an additional tire my husband said was not necessary on my latest trip. My faulty/FLAT tire definitely needed to be replaced as it suffered a severe pothole injury. I don't know much about cars but didn't feel they were trying to swindle me the first 2 times when they told me my tires only needed patching which cost ~ $28 a pop (hey they could have lied and said they needed to be replaced entirely; new tire with service charge ~$180) With any auto shop you go to you have to know your info and it's sort of your own fault if you let them up-sell you. read more

I will NEVER go to Mavis again!! I googled tire shops near me and Mavis was the only place that was open on Sunday. I called the Westfield store to get 4 new tires. The man told me he didn't have 4 in stock so he referred me to the Roselle Park location and offered me a discount code, something that was usually an additional charge would be free/included in the price of the tire. I didn't pay too much attention because he said he would enter it into their system under my husband's account and the people at the Roselle Park location would have it. So I take my car to Roselle Park and mention the discount code, he gives me the dirtiest look and basically says he doesn't know what I'm talking about. I leave and stop by the Westfield location to ask the man about the discount he had offered me. The man at the counter, without lifting his eyes a single time, tells me I didn't talk to him, I probably spoke to someone in their call center, and he doesn't know what I'm talking about. So I go home and call the number I had called before, it goes to the Westfield store, that guy also tells me he's not the one that spoke to me and he doesn't know what I'm talking about, but he tells me how to reach the call center. So I call the call center and nobody there remembers talking to me an hour before or knows anything about a discount that was offered to me. I'm not sure if it's illegal, but offering discounts to customers and then not honoring them is very unethical at least. Everyone I encountered, besides the initial person that "offered" me the discount (and it was 5 different Mavis employees), was rude and nasty and couldn't care less about me or my concern. Had an appointment for 9:00am on a weekday. Check brakes (yes this was the first item on the list), 4 new tires and an oil change. Dropped it off 8:30. No word all day. Tried to call around 2:00, got put on hold for 15 minutes and finally hung up. Never got a call that the car was done (or whether it needed new brakes). Finally went there at 5:45 (they close at 6) and my car was STILL ON THE RAMP. Why have an appointment? Finally comes off the ramp - asked the guy - "what about the brakes". They didn't check the brakes. This was important to me. He did a quick visual check and said front brakes only have 10% left. Would have been nice to know that when you had the car all day. He says that he can do the brake job the next day. Ummmm...that's why I gave you my car for the whole day - I can't take the car out of service another day! I do not recommend this place. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would happily do so. I took my minivan there just YESTERDAY for brand new tires. My family and I planned to go on a 10 hour road trip the next day. The very next day, we had a FLAT tire on the BRAND NEW TIRE. Luckily, we were in our driveway. The worse thing is that they are closed on Sundays (this happened on a Sunday). They weren't able to help us get it fixed. We had to call AAA to fix it. All I can say is that they are incompetent at STS. They are a tire place. That is all they do.
