Went for a new battery for my car. Bought a 5 year battery for 269.00. On top of that they charged me 40 dollars to install and 12 dollars for shop supplies. I left feeling ripped off. I told him advanced auto puts the battery in for free and doesn't charge any shop supplies, he said we're not advanced auto. I said you're absolutely correct you're not. Only come here if you have a nail in your tire because that service is pretty good. Otherwise look elsewhere for any automotive maintenance or repair . Took my fiancés car here . Made the mistake of letting her drop it off and somehow full synthetic was put into the vehicle . The car takes 3.8 quarts and the total came to $90 . They threw in a 20$ coupon out of sympathy. It would of been over $100 lol... Complete rip off , first off the car doesn't require synthetic and even if it did I could go buy 12 quarts of synthetic for 60$ . They tried to tell me all the benefits of synthetic like it was a favor . Can't wait to see how management replies to this review . I'm not asking for a free oil change at all . 65$ would of been high but tolerable not $90.... Won't be taking any cars here anymore . FYI they lied and said they asked her about synthetic and prices went up and haven't been below $50 in years ... previous invoice for March was for $45 regular oil which we wanted. Had four struts replaced and front links. I don't know what brand was used but after 1200 Bill my vehicle rides is worst then before replacement. Noisy and ruff ride. Took it back and tech tried to convince me the problem was lower ball joints and not struts and links. Told him have noise in rear also. Was told that their location doesn't do ball joints and sent me on my way. Mavis doesn't do ball joints??? That's just to get me out of location and didn't want to spend the time to correct issue that should have been seen when struts were being replaced. I'm done with MAVIS. read more

I hate writing this review. The staff at this place have always been very nice, but the mistakes have been such that I will never bring a vehicle here again. November 2023 I had scheduled an oil change, dropped the car off, picked it up finished, week later my oil light comes on, I bring it back, turns out they didn't replace the crush washer on the oil pan plug bolt. Okay mistakes happen, they fixed it, no big deal. Month later I bring it for tires, now maybe you would say I shouldn't go back because they already messed up once, but I try to give second chances, and they made it right with the messed up oil change. So I called, told them the tire size and type I wanted, they ordered them, made an appointment and I dropped off the car. Picked it up that evening, paid, and when I walked out to the car I thought it looked a little odd but didn't think much on it (it was dark). By the time I got home I knew something was wrong, turns out they put the wrong size tires on my car. (supposed to be 255, they put 225s). So okay, one number off, someone hit the wrong digit on the computer, again simple mistake, I call, they order the right tires and fix it. Again, I'm happy with the way they resolved the issue but very irritated it happened. Fast forward to Dec 2024, need another oil change and Mavis is very close to my house. Despite the past issues, they made both of them right, and I decided they couldn't and wouldn't mess up an oil change again, right? I call and ask how long an oil change would be if I waited, because I couldn't drop it off that day. I'm told less than an hour, and told a time to show up. I show up at that time, my car doesn't even get out of the parking lot and on the lift for 30 minutes, and then it's on that lift for over an hour. I didn't get out of the place for 2-1/2 hours. Not to mention ZERO communication with me about why it's taking so long. Why would a car be on a lift for that long for a simple oil change? Anyway, what's done is done right? No big deal. Nope. Puddle of oil under the car later, crush washer once again not replaced. I fixed it myself this time because I'm refusing to let them touch my car again. I'm incredibly disappointed that I gave this place so many chances and they squandered them. I hope they can improve their quality for future customers, but I won't be one of them : ( read more

Get comfortable and hear this: We live in New York City and was driving to our friend's birthday party to AC on Sunday afternoon. Got flat tire on our BMW M3 in the middle of nowhere. The closest exit was just a mile away so we made our way there. We literally spent at least 3 hours going from place to place to find help. No one could help, it's like there is no one in Toms River who knows how to change 20's tires. None of the tire places on Route 37 "had the machine" (which sounded so ridiculous) or that we had to leave the car for 2 days to get tire change. Seriously?! 2 days for a tire change! At that point we were calling tow truck and then suddenly my boyfriend says: "Hey, this is the only place left that we didn't go to. Let's ask them." I lost any hope at that point. The car was on the highway with a blown up tire (at that point we were already driving on the rim) - and then I saw JOE - literally our savior. He came out all the way from the shop to check the car out, calmed us down, helped to park the car and even recommended a place for lunch. He was so professional and at the same time very personable - he understood the situation and that we are 100 miles from home so he without any hesitation moved us straight In front of everyone else in the line and help us to change the tire. If I could give him 10 stars I would. I don't know his position but I hope Joe is a manager of this place. He deserves a raise. Because of him we safely got home. read more

Lou and Perla could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Lou took a look at the tire and advised it could be repaired, so I didn't have to buy a whole new tire. I was advised they are short staffed and it would probably be a 1 1/2 wait time, but they would be happy to assist me as soon as possible. I was very grateful and happy for the service I received. ... ** Side Note - Please keep in mind, there are lazy people out there today who don't want to work and just don't care. Therefore, places are understaffed and doing the best they can with the workers who do show up. A little patience can go a long way. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. I bought new tires from them about 6 months ago and they told me my struts and shocks needed to be replaced immediately because they were leaking. it was going to cost $1000 to replace them. I declined and took my car to an independent mechanic who said there was nothing wrong with them and definitely no leak. I just recently got an oil change at a different mechanic and they also said there was nothing wrong with my shocks and struts. Mavis takes advantage of their customers just to up charge your bill. they're filled with a bunch of scammers. Always get a second opinion and do not trust anyone at Mavis. read more

Tuesday morning ( August 30) my son in-law left work with a nail in his new Michelin tires that he purchased at Mavis on Brick Blvd, Toms River, NJ two months ago. He also took the 4 wheel alignment at the time of purchase. He called the store at 9:30 am and they told him they were, "all booked up!" Don't forget those tires have road hazard warranties. Came in on a Thursday to get a tire plugged. Took about an hour or so. Following day, tire pressure sensor goes off in same tire, indicating that tire was not repaired properly and still is a small leak. Called the store immediately and manager said to come in Saturday morning to fix it. I was the 2nd one in the store once they opened at 8am. I watched as other customers came and went. Took over 2.5 hours to fix tire that they screwed up in the first place. No updates were given to me about my cars progress as I sat and wasted my time. Dont ever get your vehicle serviced here! 1st time I took work van here was for tires and shocks. They told me work would be done that day. Then they told me the next morning that the mechanic didnt come in and they dont know how to charge me or what was done and that I will have to wait till monday. This was unacceptable since I specifically told them I need back for work on monday. 2nd time was for frozen brake pedal. This time I dropped off friday morn and told them i need for monday. They told me no problem they should have back same day. More lies! I get the call fri evening that they hadn't even looked at it yet and mechanic would be in saturday am. Gave me price Saturday morning and all parts are there and told me would be done today. Lies! I dont even hear back from them I call sunday morning to be told they need a part and will call in few hours when done....sunday afternoon before closing I call again to be told they dont have any vans there, then that they aren't sure if work was even started. I go there to find out it was never the brakes to begin with was the booster and they didnt even order part so wont have van for work monday....again! This place is the worst. No Customer service at all, They give you one estimate and then you pay a higher price, no one knows where they are doing at all and if something is wrong they expect you not to get upset and do nothing to fix the issue, I brought six cars here in three years and every car I brought here I had to bring back because either I got a oil change and they didn't put on the oil filter and then recently I purchased tires here and they didn't put the new weights on the tires and left the old ones on so they were not balanced correctly and I was still charged for it then when I got home I noticed the valve steak was leaking so I had to go back again which took another two hours to get fixed. I just definitely not a good shop. I don't recommend at all they will do a service for you half ass and I'll let you leave with your vehicle unsafe to be on the road and you can potentially die and they'll charge you more money than anybody else it's not worth it. read more

If you have a BMW, DO NOT go there. They will ruin your car!!! I had a flat tire a couple of weeks ago. They installed a tire on my car. While installing the tire, they told me the shock were bad and unsafe to drive. So I agreed to replace two new shocks. But the car didn't drive smoothly. I finally took my car to BMW dealer, they found out that the Mavis mechanic installed the shock totally wrong and installed the wrong tire too. It took the BMW mechanic two day to uninstall the shock by cutting out the shock and replaced with new one; replaced the correct tire. Cost me a fortune. I am still waiting on the Mavis store manager to call me back to resolve this. read more

Only go here if you are getting new tires and want a good price. 4th and last time I will come here. 3 of the times was for oil or plugging tire and takes over 1.5 hours each time. One of those times I was the first person to arrive in the morning. The one time I came and bought new tires it was bad weather. My car was stuck overnight on the lift so took me about 20 hours for tires. I get the fact that it was bad weather. But, They don't have a generator and this part of Route 37 very often loses power. I took my car to get a new battery. They called me to tell me it wasn't the battery and that I needed a new starter. When I went to pick it up after getting the starter, it wouldn't start and they needed to jump start it so I could drive out of the parking lot. As soon as I got home, I shut the car off and then tried to restart the car and couldn't get it started again. I had the tow truck driver test the battery that Mavis said was fine. The tow truck driver, said I needed a new battery and to not take it to Mavis as he had only heard bad things. I took it to Auto Zone as recommended by the tow truck driver. They gave me a new battery and the car has driven wonderful since. Mavis ripped me off the cost of a starter that was completely unnecessary and did not fix my problem. I am writing this review to give credit where credit is due. We needed a new tire on our car when we hit a pot hole in Toms River and got an instant flat tire. Our tire was rare and completely over priced in other stores. Joe was extremely helpful before we even got to the store. He gave us the best price we had found in a 20 mile radius. Unfortunately, when we got there, there was a 2.5 hour wait. We were very understand due to it being an unexpected flat and it being a Saturday morning. Joe was honest about the wait, very understanding and apologetic. Which is rare in customer service. With Joe's amazing customer service we decided to wait the time. We had an option of going to a competitor for a faster instal and less wait time but double the price! We only ended up wait and 1.5 hours. Everyone at Mavis was very helpful, informative and worked in a timely fashion. We will be using Mavis for all future car services due to the amazing service! Thank you for the amazing service. I called this place to get my tires put on and when they looked them up, I was told that that make of tire was on National back order but if I could find them they would install them. So I went on tire rack and ordered the tires. The tires were at my door in 18 hours. So i then purchased new shocks for my vehicle and received them in the mail. So when I called back to have the tires and shocks installed I spoke to a woman and she said they do not put on parts that they do not order. I definitely would not recommend this place. DO NOT go to the Mavis in Toms River, NJ. They are horrible and have no idea what they are doing. I hit a pothole and damaged two of my tires. Mavis was the closest place to me as it was getting late, so I had no choice to go there. Besides the two tires, they told me I needed 4 tire sensors. When they completed the car, the sensor light was on to which was told that it would go off in a few days. After 4 days of the light still being on, I brought the car elsewhere and found out that they put the wrong sensors in. When I called and spoke to their manager Anthony, he didn't want to make it right. All he wanted to do was charge me more money for the correct sensors. When I called him back to talk about a refund, I was put on hold for over 5 minutes. At that point I knew Anthony had no intentions of talking to me and was going to see how long I would wait for him. So, while still on hold, I grabbed another phone and called him. Wouldn't you know he answered on the first ring which means he was not going to answer the original phone call. When he was asked about the refund, he then claimed he had to call him regional office. I haven't heard from him since. Again.... As we were leaving LBI today, my husband heard a pop and our tire instantly went flat! Luckily we were by the entrance of Mallard Island Yacht Club! AAA came quickly and replaced the tire with a donut! We called "Mr. Tire" to see if we could swing by to have the tire fixed, as we did not want to make the 2 hr ride up north using the donut. We were told to come right over! We got there 1/2 before closing time. They were able to repair the tire and put back on for us in record time! I am so appreciative that "Mr. Tire," took the time to fix my tire without an appointment, near closing time! When My husband went to pay, they said, "No charge, you have a long drive home.
