I had to wait 3 hours for a mechanic to put my car on the lift to find out why my car had front end noises. At no point in that three hour I was updated as to how long it will be before my car get looked at. The only comment I got is what am I here for again. Finally when the mechanic brought my car in, it took all but 5 minutes to determine what my car needed. I am willing to pay a fair diagnostic fee for faster service especially appointments are not held up to. This is not the mechanics fault. read more

Went there for an oil change. They put in the wrong oil. I had bought 4 new tires from them so i asked them to rotate the tires. They had forgot to rotate them until i asked the mechanic, did you rotate my tires? Then he brought the car back in to rotate them. Would i go back? Never. Had to go to Long Beach Mavis to get another oil change. Before they change the oil, they should confirm with the owner the type of engine oil they will be using. read more

Since my car had its 4th anniversary, it was time for 4 new tires,battery, brake pads, fluids, wipers etc. It was very easy to make the appointment online and select the tires. For my model there were 66(!) choices for tires- got exactly what I was looking for- all prices clearly displayed. All work accomplished that day by courteous staff. Highly recommended. read more

Unfortunately, I had to come back to this place 3 times, and even then the mechanics did not complete the jobs they were given. I've never given less than 3 stars for a business before. I specifically went out of my way to come to this location because of the reviews. I asked for an alignment and tire rotation. When I got my car back, alignment was off so I took it back, no big problem. Raj was very nice and offered to re-do it. 2nd time I got it back, alignment was perfect and I was happy, but when I got home, I realized they didn't do the tire rotation I paid for the first time. I had new tires put on a year ago, so the front tires had wear from bad tie rods, while the rear ones were almost new. So I had to take it back a third time to get the tire rotation I paid for. The mechanic who worked on my car started arguing with me that he did it, but the manager calmed him down. I showed them the proof and they started working on the car. Again when I got home, the mechanic only rotated my left two tires. Customer service at the front desk and Raj were great and very helpful, but I think one of the mechanics is lazy. I'm going to give this place one more chance and ask for a different mechanic and update my review based on that. read more

Came in here for a quick oil change and tire rotation. I made an appointment in advance and unfortunately had to wait an additional hour for my car to be started. The service was quick and not expensive by any means and the manager was apologetic about my wait time. He informed me that if I didn't have an appointment I could have waited an additional 2 hrs just because of how busy they were. All in all, I didn't hold the wait against them and I will be back for my next oil change. read more

UPDATE: For what it's worth, after posting the below I got an email from Jenna in customer service, who in turn gave my information to someone else who left several voice mails trying to reach me. It was a very busy time for me having just had a baby, so I dropped the ball on that as I never got back to him, but it is worth noting that the company is responsive to customer feedback. It's also worth noting that I've continued to have exemplary experiences at both Rockville Centre locations (on Ocean Ave as well as on Sunrise Highway near McDonalds) and am still a Mavis customer despite my experience with this one location. ------------------------------------------------ Came here when my car was making a noise over a holiday weekend when my mechanic was closed. Was told my power steering pump needed to be replaced. Was tempted to wait the weekend and have my trusted mechanic replace the part, but didn't want to risk damage to the rack so I let them switch it out. New part was just as loud, but was told the air in the system just needed to bleed out, which would take a couple hours of driving. When I returned the next day, they suggested a drive it around for a few days. Returned a week later and they couldn't figure out what was wrong and referred me to a different Mavis in Rockville Centre, where they much more qualified mechanics figured out that the problem was actually one of the hoses leading up to the pump. To their credit, they replaced the hose for free. Of course, the Mavis in valley stream wouldn't admit there was never anything wrong with my old power steering pump so I was basically out $200 and change on a short rubber hose. I've since used the Rockville Centre Mavis for all of my tire needs as I won't reward this shady place with my business. read more

I'm Not an expert and He provided me with the information I needed and replaced 2. First time walking into a auto shop where they tried to "sell" me something . Bob was super helpful as well. First timer. Needed an oil change done ASAP because I was a few thousand miles over my due check. This was the closest to me, and after calling in to check availability I was told to come in whenever I could. No wait, and they were able to do my oil change in less than a half hour. Reasonably priced as well. Very satisfied with my visit and will definitely return for future services! read more

My rating is for today's lack of customer service. I dropped my car off at 10:30 am for an oil change and brakes. I advised them that there is no rush just call when ready. I was told they will call when ready. Around 3:30 I called just to check in and maybe get the cost and they advised me that they haven't looked at my car yet. Well, at 4:40(20 mins before they close), they call and advised me I can pick it up. I asked how much the brakes were and she advised me they were not done. She stated they did not have someone in to do the brakes today!!! Really??? You didn't think to tell me that at 10:30 am, call me or tell me at 3:30 when I called??!?? I left my car there the whole day thinking everything was being done. I would have went elsewhere if they couldn't do it as the brakes just started to grind and I don't want to wait for a bigger issue. I never had a problem with this place before. I have been coming for years. Raj was always GREAT and communicated very well but this girl at the desk today wasn't. Front desk should know what services can be preformed that day or let the customer know as soon as possible, not at the end of day!! Even better, I got in the car just to see my low tire pressure light on. I'm guessing when they saw the light on, it was too much to put air in the tire for their customer? Work on your customer service. It is very important if you want people to keep coming back. read more

Went here due to good things I've heard about the place. Needed tires, oil change and wheel alignment done. I made an online appointment and when I showed up Raj worked with me on the price. I got a break on a sensor I needed replaced. I went to get a bite to eat and was gone about an hour. I came back to find my car in the garage being worked on. 20 minutes later it was done. No complaints here. The car runs fine. I'm happy. read more

These guys are super, yesterday i called advance auto to get battery for my care with fee installation,i call Advance and they said yeah no matter the time i get their and they say not today im lime yall renege on your word so i go to Mavis my tire place and they had no e left and said go get battery well install we open till 9pm.I do that and 20 minutes install and out.The guys were super and were their wen needed cause i needed a battery.I brought 4 tires back in August and Mavis did excellent job.Advance your loss. read more

This place is a rip off. I came in to replace one tire. They quoted one price and when you receive your bill you have a different price. Raj charged me for a TPM (tire pressure measurement) when this can only be done after the car is driving for 15 minutes. All you need to do is press the menu, press the reset button and drive. Those of you with BMW's know exactly what I am talking about. In addition, the mechanics are all miserable, I don't know if it is an unpleasant work environment or what. UN happy mechanics = questionable repairs. Stay Away!! read more

This was the worst car experience of my life. I paid $2500. And feared that me and my daughter would die.., twice at the hands of such incompetent shoddy work. I had my brake pads replaced and a few hours later they completely failed. I could have easily gotten into an accident with my young daughter and died. They told me to drive my truck to them with NO BRAKES. It was so devastating an experience. I also had all four tires replaced and just a day later the tire was completely off the rim and once again I had to drive on bare metal and risk our lives. Dealing with the management and customer service has been so upsetting. No one cares and no one helps. Please if you value your life do not go here. I am traumatized by this. I'm in the processing of returning the tires. They refused to give me a refund and now I am forced to take them to court. read more

I had my tires done by this Mavis store for the first time today. I had such a great experience. At the service desk, I dealt with Russ today and Ed when I got my tire estimate for my work car several weeks ago. They were both so friendly, helpful, and professional. The labor staff was also very polite. They did not try to push for me to get any additional services, Which always drives me nuts. The entire job took less than hour and the place was fairly busy. went for inspection of my wife car. Raj the manager told me tires was bad, and the struts and he would not give me an inspection. i denied the replacement parts and left. i returned next day with my car for an inspection as well. Raj ask me did i get the other car "straightened out" and i said i was working on it. he ask me do i mind if he ask whose doing my work, i told him i was doing it myself. at that point my other car was in the bay and the mechanic was inspecting the brakes and tires. right after the conversation about me doing my own work on the other car and it wasnt going to be mavis, he told me he now would not pass my other car as well because of the tint. he said it was a new law as of jan 1 and he already received a ticket for doing insoection with cars with tinted windows. he had no way of testing to see if there was a tint or not. his refusal of service was driven by my refusal to let him perform the repairs at his shop. Very dishonest shop. I was a customer for over 8 years have seen it change management numerous times, this is the worst. won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Stay away from these guys. Their olny real interst is selling extended warranties. I bough 4 tires from them 2 years ago and one tire suddenly developped 2 bubbles. They of course blamed my driving rather than admitting to a defcitve tire (funny that the other 3 were all fine) and refused to stand behind the product they sold. They offered to pro-rate the tirte ONLY if I would buy the extended warranty. Buy your tires anywhere but here. I wonder if all Mavis stores operate like this? If so they should all be shut down as nothing more than a rip off. I give them one star ONLY because NO stars is not an option. read more
