As most men do work I had to send my 54 year old wife to have a new tire put on her car on a day she had planned on shopping with our grandson! They removed the tire from car which hadn't been removed since the lat new set was put on it but somehow the lug nuts were messed up and wouldn't hold the tire on and they refused to put the tire back on or accept responsibility for the damage so she ended up there all afternoon and out of pocket $400 more. An Exide 35 Sprinter battery we purchased in Feb. 2024 died as of Nov. 2025. The Mavis technician told us the battery was good but we needed a new alternator, which was not true. The Subaru dealer confirmed there was no problem with the alternator. The battery was dead. The receipt from Mavis had an incorrect auto make on it with an almost correct tag number. When we purchased tires there several months ago, we had to take the car back to be cleaned from greasy, dirty finger prints on the upholestery. One of the tire covers was also covered with grease. I came in as a walk in customer needing an alignment. The guys at Mavis were extremely helpful and gave me advice and options on how to move forward with repairs needed in the future. They were polite enough to update on wait times and all in all seemed like a good group of guys. I would recommend making an appointment because things can get backed up and appointments do go first as they should. When I was in alignments for a sedan were 99.99 which was cheaper than other places. I would return if I needed service again. read more

I went in for an oil change today. Staff was kind but price was outrageous. I was charged $100 for an oil change WITH a discount code. I selected the lowest cost option for the job. When I heard the total, I asked to see an itemized bill. When did oil changes become $100? Mine have never been over $70 for synthetic oil. Told me I needed a new tire for $160 but really only needed a $10 plug. The nail was clearly over an inch away from the side but I was told it was too close to the outside to be repaired. Took my 2019 Toyota Tundra to get a simple oil change. Started to notice oil in my driveway again after taking my truck to this location...again. Do you see anything missing? Oil cap is missing and oil is covering my engine and under the hood. Just a quick recap, I already had this problem before with the same location not tightening the oil nut from the pan leading to oil in my driveway. This is not rocket science!!! They take advantage of young women and college students. I need to preface that this incident also happened to me at Kauffman Tire, which Mavis Tire has now acquired. Coincidence? I think not. Mind you, I am a 23-year-old female who has no formal knowledge pertaining to a vehicle. Therefore, I seek "professional" advice in hopes of getting a trustworthy opinion I came to this location to get my flat tire fixed, which they were able to do, and I have no complaints. However, upon trying to pay for this service, the technician bombarded me with other things that needed "immediate" attention. The technician said I needed new brakes, new rotors (on all wheels) and a brake flush. They were kind enough to offer me a discount for these services which made the total $550. Skeptical, I ended up driving to my hometown and getting a trusted mechanic to give a second opinion. Overall, the trusted mechanic suggested I needed new brakes on the front, but it was not urgent. He charged me less than $100 for this service. With all that said, young women and college students, do not be fooled. Set appointment for 11am the day prior (in store)because I have a tight schedule. Arrived at 10:30am for 11:00am appointment. Guy at desk advissed that it would be 30 min before my truck could get into the back because additional services were sold. This wouldn't be a problem, I'm 30 minutes early. 11:30am rolls around and I was told they are getting ready to bring my truck back. I couldn't wait 10-15 min for bay to clear and another hour for tire balancing. This is the second time I've had to leave because they can't honor an appointment. Front two tires needed replaced. Asked them twice to check the pressure on the rear tires. Less than ten miles after the visit the driver's side rear tire blew. When asked about possible warranty coverage, was told "Tire obviously blew as a result of being run on low pressure". Never again, Mavis. You burned this bridge. read more

Last month I took in my truck to have my tires replaced and to have my breaks checked. I knew my tires needed to be replaced but even though my breaks had been making noise, I wanted them to check them before flat out replacing them. They were very helpful when we checked in and said they would give me a call to let me know what was wrong with the breaks. Well about 45 minutes later I get a call that my truck was done so I assumed there was nothing wrong with the breaks. As I was driving away I noticed my breaks were still making noise and went back in to ask if they checked them. The lady simply said "yes." I was frustrated and decided to take my truck to Pep Boys for a second opinion and come to find out my breaks were just about down to metal. Pep Boys quickly changed out the breaks for me and I will no longer go to Mavis. read more

I would like to rate my experience with this business a 0, but unfortunately that doesn't work. Got a drive-out price for a full set of tires just before July 4th, supposedly there was a sale going on. I was sent an email confirmation with an appt time to have them put on car. When I got there, the guy said the tires did not come in with their order, even though they had called me the day before with a reminder. I asked at that point if he could confirm a the price and was given the runaround. I didn't question it , because I had been told by the salesperson that the price would be good with my confirmation number. They set up another appt for me. Long story short, the second time I went in the price had gone up over $100 from the original quote. Oh, the salesmen don't always give the correct price, and even though I had an appt, there would be over 2 1/2 hour wait! Made another appt, and when I got there I demanded they show me the drive-out price and it was yet ANOTHER $100 over the original quote. $200 more?!? I asked what in the world was going on, and the person said he could not explain it, but the manager had entered additional charges. Maybe on whim??? Who knows, right? I am disgusted and upset that I wasted time with this ridiculous company, and I would suggest that you go elsewhere! read more

I had $3000 (a set of tires on each car, brakes on both, new struts, new tire sensors) worth of repairs done to my truck and my wife's SUV last summer. I was extremely patient when my truck literally took all day on a Saturday ( I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room before he came and said the District Manager had shown up to give them a "presentation" and they had not gotten a chance to work on my truck) and then I allowed them to keep it overnight and they finished on Sunday. The man that did the work said his name was Jordan and he kept me informed. He was very good about letting me know what was going on. Today: Jordan was not the same person. I went in to have the tires rotated and balanced and the oil changed. When I got to Mavis at 1115 AM, there were five people in the waiting area and a customer in front of me. The phone rang and rang and rang. Finally, Jordan, wearing a "Transition Team) shirt, came in and helped the customer in front of me and told him an hour and a half. He asked if I had an appointment. i told him no because I had scheduled an appointment last summer and they didn't honor it but I didn't say that. He asked if I could leave it and I said yes. He said to me and my daughter he would call and it should be done in 1.5 hours. I left, thinking it would be done and I could drop my wife's car off. No phone call came. We wrapped up our business and rode to Mavis, arriving at 315. My truck was in the same place. When I went inside, Jordan informed me that I was next, I asked how it was not done and how a rotation/oil change could take that long. He stated that he had told me there was a 4.5 hour wait on all jobs and he had told me that. I told him that was not true and I would never have left my truck for that amount of time. I asked to have my keys back. He again claimed he had told me 4.5 hours and I told him to stop saying lies. He told me to get out of his store and not come back. I questioned how he could say that to me and he said I was raising my voice and carrying on. He then walked into the shop and refused to come back inside. He lost at least two potential customers, as I reminded in the show room and tried to call the corporate office. They walked out the door because he refused to come back inside. I finally got through to the corporate office and have been promised a phone call from the district manager. I am not holding my breath because Jordan threw this person under the bus last year. The sign outside says "Now Hiring" and if Jordan is part of the Transition Team, I can see how they do not have people to work there. I cannot even believe this was the same person as last year. The gentlemen at this Kauffman have always serviced my vehicles without issue, and have always been personable. Our visit today was different, but in a pleasant way. My fiancé and I have a very hungry toddler. Of course, I left the snacks in the truck. Even though we tried our best to corral him, he eventually broke down in a hunger fit. While we were trying to have him sit in a chair, without anyone asking, one of the employees changed the channel on the television to Disney Jr. to distract him while we waited for our truck to be serviced. These crooks charged me $139 to mount and balance 4 tires on my wife's G35. The wheels and tires were already off the vehicle. Mavis didn't have to raise car on lift, nor take wheels off and they didn't have to remount wheels back on car after new tires were installed. Went in to get two new tires and an oil change, they told me my suspension was bad and I needed shocks and struts on my car and my brake fluid needed flushed..It costs me $800 and when I got home I checked my oil and it was black like they didn't even change it..After further inspection of my tires I noticed my lug nuts were not the same ones that used to be on my car..Apparently they broke 2 of them while changing my tires out and never even told me..They replaced them with 2 cheaper looking lug nuts that don't even match the rest..I'm definitely not happy about my experience and will be contacting someone first thing on Monday..I'm not even sure that they really did the work on my car that they charged me for..Just wrong on so many levels!! read more

I got brand new breaks and rotors done little over a month ago. And not even 2 weeks after when I go to back up and apply the breaks ,they started to squeak very loudly so I get an appointment to see about that and I had to wait 2 hours with an appointment just for them to pull it in the back and be done in 15 mins????? Said they saw nothing wrong. So I leave. And they STILL squeak. And now when I stop sometimes it makes a horrible grinding noise and now they squeak when I'm going forward as well to a stop. I am soooo dissatisfied with this. I will not be back. I just wanted good breaks. Now I have to go somewhere else and find the issue and pay again. The customer service was awful. I needed a tire plugged. Jordan came out to look at the tire and said we needed an alignment. Our car is fairly new with low mileage, but regardless, he said we needed it based on something he saw on the tire. Our lucky day, today only they have a special for $30 off. No thanks. He said $28.95 for the plugged tire. I said no thanks. Walmart is next door and only $10 but they have a 2 hour wait. He said he would take $10 off and get it done in 45 minutes. I asked if he would fix it for $15 and he agreed. We walked over to a nearby restaurant and returned 45 minutes later to see our car up on the lift with all the tires off. I asked why are all my tires off the car. Jordan said they always do that for every service. I am in my 60s and been to many places and have never experienced anything like this. 45 minutes later the car was done. Now, I am wondering if anything might happen. Went in for an oil change. Asked how long it might take. They said 1.5 hours. 4 hours in and my truck still isn't ready. They keep trying to up-sell me and tell me my truck needs this and that. I bought the truck months ago and it has very low Miles. Also, the desk attendant keeps offering other services for x amount of dollars and when I say "no, I just want an oil change" he cuts the cost by ~30% of the original price on his second offer. My experience with Kauffman Tire: Bottom line: describing this experience as a nightmare is an understatement. I've had my car towed 7 times, 5 times to Kauffman, 4 of which they were either diagnosing or attempting to repair my car. I've spent in excess of 10 hours solely dealing with Roadside Service Tows. I've had three Ignition Control Modules installed in the vehicle which continuously failed to resolve the issue of the car turning off. On May 8, 2017 I was experiencing some issues with my 1994 Camry XLE a few days after graduating from the University of Georgia. I haven't needed frequent auto-repair since moving to Athens, GA in January of 2014 but I had gotten a set of Toyo tires at Kauffman Tire for a fairly decent price and value so I decided to take the vehicle to Kauffman Tire on Epps Bridge Pkwy. In Athens, GA. I was told the codes run were indicating a Mass Airflow Sensor failure which was then replaced. Once that code was cleared an Ignition Control Module failure seemed to be present. I explained my Financial situation as a student and really wanted to reduce costs wherever possible. I was quoted $600 part cost for an ICM so I decided to order the ICM from Amazon, a Standard Motors Part for roughly $350. The Mass Airflow Sensor was relatively comparable in price so I had them order and install their part. The parts were installed and I was back on the road safe and secure, or so I had thought. From this point on my experience with Kauffman Tire and several of their stores turned south. After a few days on the road I began to experience some issues with the vehicle such as hesitation when I attempted to accelerate. It wasn't until shortly after my car was back to where I had started. After paying $357.14 for the part with Amazon and $328.24 with Kauffman the first time around. (This charge was for the MAS part, the associated shop fee, and installation of both parts previously mentioned. The total for the work and part is $685.38 but a pretty good value when you consider the $600 I was originally quotes for an ICM, and that's just for the part alone.) So my car began turning off again while being driven without any warning and I got it towed back to Kauffman little did I know this would be a continuous pattern for some time to come. When the vehicle arrived back at Kauffman on June 8 I was told the engine was throwing the same ICM codes it was previously and it must be a faulty part. I contacted Amazon and they were very straightforward in accepting responsibility for a faulty part and set me up a replacement part that was to be delivered before I had returned the first Standard Motors ICM. So I got the new part, got it installed, paid my $38.75 for them to plug in the ICM. While this was an inconvenience, I still felt I was coming out pretty well with the price I paid for the service. Two days later my car turns off. This time in a major intersection but I was luckily able to coast the vehicle to a safe location but I thus got another tow was back to Kauffman for the third time. At this point in time I was told it was the same code we had seen previous to two replacement ICMs being installed. I was reassured it was a faulty part and it was possible it was either an inferior part or a bad batch of parts. In my mind this was not very likely, it's very rare to have two $357 ICMs to be DOA. However, at this point in time I was willing to do whatever and pay whatever necessary to have a reliable vehicle so I ordered an Ignition Control Module a NAPA part through Kauffman. I was luckily able to get the part matched for $425 from another NAPA auto parts store. This part with the shop fee and installation charge on June 10, 2017 came to $521.12. While $357 was in process of being refunded to me from Amazon these charges add up to $1,245.25 being tied up. But it was for my car and reliable transportation is priceless. I got my money for the part from Amazon refunded resulting in a final service charge of $888.11 but my car was finally fixed, or so I thought. I decided to drive the vehicle back to my hometown Alpharetta, GA roughly 60 miles away from Athens and everything seemed to be functioning. Later that evening I take my car out to the Wells Fargo 2 miles down the street and my car turns off on a major intersection of Mansell and State Bridge Rd during what seemed like rush hour. I turn on the hazards and hearing the upset drivers behind me, franticly attempt to start the car. Eventually it does, and I hit the gas in an attempt to park the vehicle in a safe location. I am able to make it into the space in between the left turning lane and Old Milton Pkwy. It's late and my vehicle is close to many other cars speeding by on a busy road so I decide to eat at the Taco Mac once I had set-up another tow to Kauffman Tire except this time in Alpharetta, GA. Long story short less than 30 minutes pass by and my car is impounded by the Alpharetta Police Department. I pay $85 to get my car out. read more

I go in to get a new tire. My tire blew on the way to Athens and I didn't want to go back to Atlanta without a replacement. I take it here and immediately without much observation, the manager decides I need to replace all 4 tires. Continually tries to upcharge me. I eventually decline and say just the one tire. Figure might as well get an oil change since it needed to be done anyway. I get it done and head back to Atlanta. On my way back on 316, the car starts smoking heavily from the exhaust. I pull over and call them. They tell me I don't know what's wrong sounds like a calidic converter issue. I am pretty sure they're wrong. I let the car settle then check the oil. It's way above the Max line. Have to get it towed. Sure enough it was way above the limit. I don't see how you can screw up an oil change. If that's not incompetence, I just don't see what is. Definitely would not suggest this place to anybody. Please go somewhere else. The service and everything is just horrible. read more

I went to the store about an hour after I had spoken to someone at Mavis. Had a flat a couple of years ago when I ran over a nail in the parking lot of University 16. They patched it for free, but it took some cajoling. Guy also tried to upsell me to buy not just one new tire for the flat, but a whole new set of tires. I told him i'm good, seriously, just patch my tire. He had a terrible look on his face after that.
