This is a long review but please hear me out I've been getting my tires at University for a good while and have been satisfied until now So recently I got a set of new tires from University and a couple of weeks after getting them I started having brake problems like not stopping as good as I used to and the steering wheel shaking when the brakes were applied I asked a mechanic I know about it and he immediately said they probably over tightened the lug nuts or didn't use a star pattern like you're supposed to and the rotors were warped ( the brakes were perfect when I took the car in) What! I said, never heard of that but AI confirmed it [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I called University to explain my situation and they got very defensive and said they use strict torquing procedures etc etc so I certainly wasn't going back to them and get charged for something they did (and BTW, the technician who put the tires on no longer works there)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So I had a front end brake job done by another shop for $350 and when I asked if the rotors were warped they said " oh yeah" So, told you this was long I discussed this matter with the manager at the Eastside store feeling like I should be compensated for the brake job that I believed was their fault So found out today they're not going to pay me back for anything So if you've read this then DO NOT use this company based on the fact they refused to give me a single penny for ruining my brakes and not having the integrity to admit they made a mistake ( if I could give them zero stars I would) read more

I went to University Tire after buying a truck from a friend to get a full diagnostic done. The diagnostic alone was $150 which didn't go toward any repairs, and in hindsight should have been my first red flag. After the inspection, I was told the only issues were the power steering pump and a couple of hoses, and I was given a very high quote based solely on those items. No other problems were mentioned. I approved the repair, picked the truck up, and drove it for about 20 minutes to make sure the power steering felt right. When I got home and opened the hood to check things over, I immediately noticed a coolant leak on the opposite side of the engine bay. My brake booster was wet, my heater core hose had a coolant leak, and my coolant reservoir return hose wasn't even connected or clamped. I also checked the work they did and saw the clamp on the power steering hose wasn't tightened correctly. If I can spot these issues myself, I feel a trained mechanic should have identified them during the diagnostic especially since I paid specifically for that service. These items should have been noted and included in the quote, even if it meant a higher repair cost. Instead, only the steering components were mentioned. They told me to come back the next day for a cooling-system pressure test because they were too busy to handle it the same day, but I believe that should have been part of the original diagnostic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now I have to make another trip, and at no point did anyone communicate that more issues existed beyond what they repaired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They told me the diagnostic was to check all systems, which is the only reason I agreed to pay for it yet I still ended up discovering multiple problems on my own afterward! They only reason I did not put 1 star is because the power steering is restored for now and there was miscommunication one front desk person said it was a full inspection the other said it was an inspection based only on your complaints. Regardless if you smell coolant and see coolant let me know it needs to be fixed read more

They had the work done earlier than expected and it was all very efficient and professional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Both Bryant and the young woman who also works there were courteous and very helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am wary of tire stores but I will certainly recommend this store to anyone. My wife went for an oil change and to get her tires rotated. She sat there for 6 hours with no word from anyone until they tell her that her tires are "too bald" to be rotated. Zero- the $ 600+ I payed them , All I can say is, i had a front end alignment done on our camper van with the Lexington rd store and was charged $ 300 .. A few weeks later before we were going on a trip to Boise Idaho to see my son I came back to them and bought 2tires for the front , $300 . On the way back at approximately 2000 miles I noticed the edges of both tires were worn down to the cords ! We were near Rapid city S. Dakota and went to a tire store there. They treated us really nice and aligned the front end properly , installing the cambers that we needed all along ! They said they had never seen an alignment that bad and charged only $106 for the alignment and sold us some good tires very reasonable . We drove home safe and with no problem . I want to believe the best in folks and know sometimes service managers and mechanics make mistakes or are incompetent and should be pointed out. So I went to the location and spoke with the manager , he made a copy of my receipt from the S. Dakota and I showed him the pictures of the worn tires that I had bought from their University tire on Lexington highway. He said he would talk to the owner and get back with me ..I called the next day and he said they wouldn't do anything to make it right! So I'm writing this review as a warning to anyone considering doing business with them ..I plan to post more reviews and file complaint with the bbb.. hope this helps read more

I went in to have my car looked at for a squealing sound coming from near my front tire. I was quoted $1700 for front break change and two control arms. I challenged them on price and somehow they were able to immediately come down $500 (i.e. They had been charging me $215 a control arm, but after being revised these parts somehow only cost $150). I didn't trust them to do the work and went to Classic Auto instead- they found my rotors and break pads were totally fine (University said rotors were warped and break pads glazed) and only needed to replace hoses and calipers. Also my control arms didn't have to be replaced. Overall a very poor experience and the person who referred me to University is no longer going there either. Highly recommend Classic Auto though. They did great work at a fair price. read more

They TRIED to scam me. Needed to go get my wheels aligned and they told me that my camber bolts were so rusted they'd have to be replaced for 400$. In their own words, "My guy back there usually doesn't like to give up on the his cars, but there's just no way for him to get the bolts loose due to the "rust"." Little do they know my uncle is a mechanic, he checked them out and there was no rust under my car or on any bolts at all. Went to a different shop, they had no trouble whatsoever. If you're look like a college student odds are they think you know nothing about cars and are willing to try and scam you for it. Do not give them your business. read more

Details Our home (actually a motorhome) had a rt front tire valvstem leak. The Athens GA Lexingon branch was open at 7:30 Did not know Todd was the Manager but a big shoutout to him. ALL tires checked, put air in all, metal valve stem replaced, 2 new shocks in the front. Great work & completed by 10 am You guys saved my butt YOU ARE THE BEST ! So on an extremely unlucky & unbelievably BAD DAY, I broke down in the middle of Clarke and Oconee on the loop 10 heading home from a 12 hour 3rd shift night. Apparently the Straight Talk was off as of hours prior to being stranded on a uphill stretch and cars FLYING BY. The Tow guy recommends this Lexington Rd. University Tire.. why wouldn't I trust the tow guy? A) The manager/ boss / boy-man in charge was nice and smiled and said that he was going to be in touch.... A few hours ( maybe 1 ) he called back and said I'm sorry but you're only means of transportation is completely SHOT, DONE, UNDRIVEABLE AND YOU NEED A NEW engine, again " I'm not going to be able to help you ." The very next day after a night of stress and anxiety that he told me they couldn't get it to even crank ... I was dropped off their, and noticed the vehicle hadn't even been moved, door or hood opened!!!! I felt the glare of the " mechanic's "& looked very similarly at them, turned the keys and the truck roared as to hint to me, get me the hell out of the joke of an establishment, much less business claiming to be in the automotive industry with a thief in charge I quietly drove next door ( Diversified Automotive) where I was literally AMAZED AT THE SERVICE AND TRUTHFULNESS OF THE OWNER .. Both the guy that was at the front desk when I dropped off my tire, and the girl that was there when I picked it back up were great. They got it done for me last second, at the end of the day, and stayed after close to put the tire back on the car for me after I offered just to do it at home myself since it was so late. I'm not sure if they meant to do it or not but it was pouring rain when I left, and they pulled the car up so driver side was right by the end of the walkway so I was able to get in my car rain free too. Had some work done by UT and was called by the tech 3 hours after giving the ok to perform the work. When I went to pick up my vehicle I was charged 5.5 hours of labor because as they put it, "that's how long the book said it should take", even though it only took 3 hours to perform the work! Not a very good business practice or a good way to have repeat customers, which I will NOT be. There are too many other honest businesses out there. Check your bill read more

I just went and got two new tires on my BMW. I talked with Scott, he was very knowledgeable and help me choose the right tires. University tire has wifi, a big waiting area and a high top bar with outlets I could do work at while I waited. I do all of the work on my car so I am very particular, I gave detailed instructions, specific air pressure and torque spec, they followed them to a tee. I called the day before so the tires were already there when I arrived so I was in and out in just over an hour. Everyone was very nice and they did not try to upsell extra services to me.
