I went in for just a tire rotation. In the middle of the work, they came and told me my all 8 of my brake pads were, and I quote, "metal on metal and need changing badly." I told them thanks for letting me know and went home to change my own brakes as I do. In the pictures, the top one and right one are the new ones, and the bottom and left one are the "metal on metal" ones. Are you kidding me? I called up there and told them my concerns, and the assistant manager lady told me "THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE." And nothing was done? Come on. I was also told it would take ~25 minutes. It took an hour and 20 minutes. Timing has been an issue the last three times I've gone. Wish I could give zero stars. Update (08/2025): I spoke to the regional manager for the store here in Brandon. I explained to him my problems and concerns. He was very dismissive of how this was a "very minute thing to never come back to our store over" therefore, I decided to write this down here and let people know to never go here under any circumstance. Came in a while back about a month and a half ago for a check up on my car. I said there are new tires. It was bumpy. Came back and said I needed balance done to my tires and came back said it was done. I said OK and thanks. Then said my amount I had to pay. I was like you never ask me if I wanted the work done. I was never informed work was started. Then came back and said I had to pay for work I did not agree to no matter if I needed it or not. So I got charged for something I didn't ask for. Because i had a warranty at another place for free tires service. So I paid for free work. And now my car pulls a little that it didn't before. My alignment is off now a little. I've always had 5 stars here until thus time. This was 3 time. Now my alignment isn't like it was before. I'm not mad about it. It needed to be done. But, paying for free work that I had a warranty at another place to get it done for free sucks. Never inform me I needed it done or that it was done and I had to pay for work I didn't agree to..... maybe I can change the review back one day. And my car is still running bumpy. I broke down on the highway and managed to coast into the Home Depot parking lot next to Mavis. I thought the battery had died, and a kind mechanic walked over to take a look. Turns out I had a dead battery and some broken belts. When I told them we were in the middle of a cross-country trip, they moved some other non-urgent repairs around to get us on our way as fast as possible. The staff was absolutely lovely and a pleasure to deal with. (Whoops. Didn't mean to post two reviews. I did the first from my phone and didn't think it went through.) read more

I scheduled an for a simple oil change day ahead of time. 4 hours later I finally got the call that they were done. I drove home. The next day I drove to work (about 7 miles from my house) and back. Realized on the drive home that there was a massive oil leak and I had nearly nothing left. The last time I had gotten my oil changed here (about 1.5 years ago) they stripped the drain plug and I had a similar leak and they tried to charge me for it. Took my truck in for four new tires at 8 am, as soon as they opened there doors, I was there. Specifically said if you can't get the four tires on before noon I'll need to come back Monday. I had plans to take my daughter to softball practice. That was no problem they would be able to do that. I called at 1145 and they said it would be ready at 1230 they had some issues with the lugs. No problem I gave myself an extra hr for any problems. Drove up there at 1245, they had one tire on the rim and said there tire machine went down. I walked around the shop and seen they had three tire machines in the back but anyways. I get my son to come get me so I can get my daughter to softball. They stopped me before I left and said it will be only ten more minutes. I decided to come back later to get it. Around 4 pm I got back and it still wasn't finished apparently an air hose blew and they had to go get jb weld for it is what they told me. I am 45 yrs old and do a lot of things on a large farm and don't believe anyone tried to jb weld an air hose. Btw both times when I got back to the shop with in 10 minutes they started working on my truck. After a few Hundred dollars and waiting several hours at Mavis Discount Tire for four new tires, I was told they were having problems with my lug nuts. When I asked if they could replace them, I was informed that they "are not a parts house". Silly me, I guess, for thinking it would be normal for a tire place to have access to new lug nuts when necessary. After about $150 more dollars and a few more hours, my dad and I fixed their fumble. We came in with our car on November 8th when I was having issues with one of my tires leaking air. I had taken it other places but with no avail. Imagine my luck when I came in and spoke with Jay about checking to see if it were a tire or rim issue and he was happy to help. Jay and his fellow employee Bryan took the car around back to investigate. After about 10 minutes they came together as a team to deliver us the update: we had a small pin hole sized leak in our tire! All that stress over such a small hole. They confirmed the plan with us before performing a tire change using the tire we selected and purchased here just a few days ago. We're so thankful for the speedy and well rounded service we received! Wonderful staff also. I'm so happy they confirmed the service details before doing the work to confirm we were happy with the diagnosis and price! read more

I wouldn't trust these guys to add fluid. Every time I go there, I have to go back. I gave them 3 opportunities over the past three years to prove me wrong. I will never again go back to these buffoons. Tire rotation and balance? - nope. Vibration Replaced control arm? Installed backwards.... ??? Install rear shocks? Forgot to install rubber gasket... Added bonus: mechanic rubs his filthy mitts all over the back seat of my car. Thanks dude...my 2005 Toyota Sienna didn't need help getting dirtier. These guys are terrible at their jobs. Came in a couple weeks prior with a tire going flat, unfortunately they were fully booked for the day but they checked the tire out and saw I had a slow leak from a nail and added air to it and told me to come back the next morning and they'd do it first thing. Get back the next morning and they patch it right up for me saving me on having to get a new tire. Fast forward to today I woke up to the 3 other tires looking low and my psi sensors going off that they're flat. So I take my car back over there and Jay takes a look at it, listens to my very pregnant self basically cry over the last 3 weeks of bs I've had to deal with and tells me he'll have them pull my vehicle in next. Thank god the tires were still good and just needed some air and my psi sensors reprogrammed. Charlie was able to get it done in a relatively quick time and get me back out. They also didn't charge me an arm and leg to get it done. read more

The other woman who worked here was very stale and nonchalant in my opinion. she basically gave me a "if you not paying there's nothing we can do" vibe. i say that because i was told by a former employee that they do free diagnostic testing. however, i didn't know that if you don't get a service the testing is NOT free. i wanted to get diagnostic testing on two different things but instead of listening to help it seems like she was listening just to keep asking if i wanted to pay the fee. honestly, IF i come back to have my car serviced by them i'd rather talk to Jay about everything. read more

Kept hereing this scrubbing sound when braking tech days its the dust sheid wasn't put back on correctly. During my short term stay in MS, my hosts would drive past this place alot. I knew I needed some work done on my truck, so I decided to do some much needed research and make a trip to this establishment. When I entered, I was greeted and I explained to the customer service agent what type of work I needed done. One of the two items they couldn't do (for whatever reason). The manager (I guess?) Gave me an excuse on why they couldn't do the repairs. I knew that my truck needed the repairs done because when I was in a my home state the mechanic there told me it needed to be done. The second repair (which wasn't done either) one of the mechanics that walked by the counter, he had paperwork for my truck; stared at the customer service agent for a very long time. I could tell by the mechanics body language that he did not want to do the second repair that I asked for. So, I called him out on it. The mechanic just gave me a very simple answer. Basically, he did not want to do it and so many words it was "too much work". The only things that were repaired were an oil change and an air filter. Very quick, very simple, very sad... This is the most irresponsible business I've ever dealt with. They need to be shut down! The mechanic forgot a bolt on my brake job. Our rim was damaged in the blow out and the advisor just told us to bring it in. They looked at it and agreed it was the mechanics fault. They "fixed it" and I asked them to be sure to check the other tires to ensure there were no other issues. A week later this happens on the other side. THEY DON'T CARE! Manager CeCe allowed her boyfriend who is not employed with Mavis to work on my AC on Mavis property after hours. The Brandon location messed up my battery, did not replace correct tire, and broke my oil dip stick, also knocked out my AC in the process of changing my water pump, thermostat, and radiator. They replaced my water pump which is beside my AC cords which broke on their watch according to CeCe. They wanted me to pay $500 for repair. My AC was working properly until I allowed Mavis to replace certain parts. That's when CeCe and KD made it known to me they had no one on staff who could do a Evac and recharge so that's when Cece boyfriend came to Mavis to do it for them. I have paid over 2k cash for them to fix my car and the regional manager David is giving me the run around and being extremely hard headed and I couldn't express my concerns. He was trying to handle me and the situation. An example of this would be when he was supposed to come looks at my tires. I was then asking for full refund all around. He then stated if he could put my old parts back in my car and give me my money back he would. He then laughed which I found to be very disrespectful and unprofessional from a district manager. I asked for a brand new part he then proceeded to use a rebuild compressor on my car instead. And when that didn't work he then had a new one put on and that still did not work. David then stated it's an electrical issue knowing CeCe and KD just told me it was an Compressor issue and that they broke a part on their watch I guess he forgot what they told me. That's a lack of communication between them.The Evac and Recharge was originally done by someone unemployed on Mavis property.Also, why are you allowing someone who isn't employed with your shop to fix on my car? He is now telling me to take it to Nissan with I just paid 2k to get a new water pump, radiator, etc. Mavis is held accountable this is unprofessional and unacceptable. How am I expected to fix something that was broke by someone who isn't even employed with Mavis. It's been an an absolute nightmare . I have given David and CeCe chances to help me. I gave them two weeks to help me before I filed my claim with corporate at the 914-984-2500 option 2 with Claim department . I no longer want to speak with David or Cece because if he is allowing an UNEMPLOYED man to work on my car. Please do not allow them to contact me. I expect someone above them to me a call with urgency. I fill like David is trying to cover up what Mavis messed up. I want my vehicle fully repaired at absolutely no cost to me. So that I can part ways with Mavis. I hate that it came to this but I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. I no longer want communication between CeCe and David I want someone else who is above them. It would be nice as well if Mavis could provide a rental while my my car is being fixed on. I came in today for 4 tires and alignment. Got here about 10:15 and was told it should be ready by noon. I came back at noon and my truck was where it was when I left earlier. Nobody had touched it. Then I was told they would get on it right away and it would be ready by 1:30. I finally got my truck at 2:55. Staff was very polite but could tell me absolutely nothing about the Blacklion tires they sold me. Just that they were "cheap" tires. I was told the quality was not as good as the Bridgestone it was replacing. Then when I told them to put the old tires back on they told me they were wrong. The tires it was replacing were very similar. I had to sit there for hours wishing I had some water and noticed they had complementary water but it was empty. No I won't return. read more

First, we used this place when Mr Upton owned it & always had great service & were completely satisfied customers--we were aware he'd sold the business, but it has apparently been sold again (& perhaps again) & is a comPLETEly different business. Second, I will be calling the customer service #, & discussing my issues but let me say as tactfully as possible I will not be returning, I will discourage anyone I know or meet to come here. No smiles/friendly customer service; disparaging remarks when questions asked; no attempts to accommodate the customer. This is my 3rd trip here in 4 days: yesterday mine wats the only car in the parking lot when I pulled in, yet it sat there 30 minutes til I asked when they might get to it. Unless you have unlimited time to sit & wait & unlimited funds that you'd love to throw away, drive on past! Whatever $$ you've already paid them, (for lifetime warranties, etc) consider it a hard but well-learned lesson. read more

LOL! They don't even try anymore. Needed some basic tires in a 205/70-15 size. "Best price" for 4 cheapo Cooper 30k mile tires was $440 out the door. Sams has a set of Goodrich in the same size rated for 70k miles for $363 with free lifetime balance, rotation and road hazard. Firestone in Pearl also had a set of 4 rated for 70k miles out the door but without the lifetime balance and road hazard for $334. They used to have some good tire prices when they were over on Highway 80 but evidently they don't even attempt to be competitive these days. read more

If my issue gets fixed I might change my review, maybe. My problem is I just spent $460 to have tie rod ends replaced and an alignment. They truly were needed, but now my wheel locks up turning left and the car pulls to the right extremely heavy. Supposedly, it's now the rack and pinion going out and out of the blue I now have metal shavings in my power steering fluid. I had no issues with steering whatsoever before I had said work done. After I checked the BBB Site it says they are not accredited and they have a D rating. Not good at all. read more

Had them fix one TPMS and then none of them worked, they ruined a new battery, put on brake pads and rotors when I only requested pads, they have no inventory in stock so have to order everything from across town which takes time, and they busted my center cap, said it would be there in 2 days, over a week later it's still not there. I took every vehicle I owned to Upton for years, dating back to when they were Crossgates Tire & Automotive. For over a decade they provided quality service. Recently, at least the last 10 months, things have gone way, way downhill. Their pricing has become ridiculous (up to 2x the cost of a nearby competitor), they've become notorious for imagining problems, and have been paid to fix one problem 3-4 times with no results. I don't know if they have new ownership/management or what the cause is, but I've had enough. My cars will NOT be going to Upton anymore. It's disappointing really, because it is truly difficult to find service shops you can trust, and this used to be one. read more
